I WAS COMPLETELY STOPPED BEHIND ANOTHER VEHICLE, WHEN A TOYOTA TACOMA PICKUP HIT THE REAR OF THE AVALANCHE, KNOCKING IT INTO AN F250 CREW CAB 4 WHEEL DRIVE PICKUP, THE FRONT END WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED AND THE REAR WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED CAUSING IT TO BE TOTALED. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP, THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AFTER ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE CONTACT'S PASSENGER FRONT AND REAR SIDE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BRUISED RIBS, SPINE, AND HEAD INJURIES. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED LEFT AND RIGHT ARM INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000. *TR

THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES ON HER CERVICAL SPINE, THORACIC SPINE, LUMBAR, AND RIGHT LEG. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 79,000.
COMING HOME FROM LACROSSE PRACTICE WITH MY TWO SONS, WE HIT A 900 LB COW RUNNING ACROSS THE MAIN ROAD AT NIGHT. CRUSHED FRONT END ALL THE WAY TO WINDSHIELD, VERY VIOLENT BLOW. WE TRAVELING APPROX. 45 MPH AT NIGHT ON A DARK ROAD. I RECEIVED NECK, BACK INJURIES, VISION PROBLEMS ALONG WITH SORENESS IN MY SPINE AND BACK. MY FIRST SON IN THE FRONT HIS HEAD HIT THE DASHBOARD WHILE HE WAS HOLDING HIS HEAD WITH HIS HANDS. HE THEN WAS SNAPPED BACK VIOLENTLY AT HIS HEAD ON THE BACK OF THE SEAT. FIRST SON HAS HEAD AND NECK INJURIES AND ALSO IS SUFFERING FROM HEADACHES AND ALSO BLURRY VISION. SECOND SON IN REAR, BUSTED HIS LIP AND SUFFERED WHIPLASH AND HEADACHES AS WELL. THEY HAVE BEEN ADVISED TO MISS LACROSSE INDEFINITELY. *TR

THE DEALER (ANTELOPE VALLEY CHEVROLET, 1160 MOTOR LN, LANCASTER, CA 93534) WAS CONTACTED IN MARCH OF 2017 AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO REMEDY THE RECALL. IN SEPTEMBER OF 2017, THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WERE STILL NO PARTS AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH. THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS IMPACTED AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED AND WAS REPAIRED BY THE CONTACT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
"TAKATA RECALL" I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE NOR HAS THIS PROBLEM BEEN FIXED. I HAD FRONT END DAMAGE TO MY TRUCK AT ABOUT 40 MPH AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I WAS TRAVELING ON AN HIGHWAY. BY NOT DEPLOYING MAY HAVE BEEN A GOOD THING. I WOULD LIKE FOR CHEVROLET TO CORRECT THIS ASAP.
MY WIFE DROVE THE TRUCK TO WALMART TO GET A COUPLE OF ITEMS WITH HER WERE MY SON IN LAW AND DAUGHTER. ONCE ARRIVING THERE(APPROX. 3 MI) THEY NOTICED SOME SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. MY SON IN LAW OPENED THE HOOD TO DISCOVER A FIRE, HE THEN RAN INTO WALMART WHERE AN EMPLOYEE GRABBED A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND PUT OUT THE FIRE. AFTER THEY GOT HOME I CHECKED IT OUT AND THE WIRING HARNESS THAT GOES TO THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR WAS COMPLETELY MELTED. IT WAS STILL IN ALL TH HE FACTORY TIE DOWNS AND WASN'T TOUCHING ANYTHING THAT COULD HAVE CHAFED IT OR PINCHED THE WIRES. THE TRUCK WAS ON CITY STREET THEN IN PARKING LOT

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM THE REAR SUSPENSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE REAR AXLE SEALS, REAR BEARINGS AND GEARS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED IN LESS THAN 100 MILES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE WIRE HARNESS UNDER DASHBOARD WAS RUBBING AGAINST THE EMERGENCY BRAKE MECHANISM AND SHORTED OUT CATCHING FIRE. I WAS LUCKY TO HAVE BEEN STOPPED AND ABLE TO PUT THE FIRE OUT WITHIN SECONDS RESULTING IN VERY MINIMAL DAMAGE BUT HAD I BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY THE RESULT WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY DIFFERENT. HOWEVER IT DID SHORT OUT OTHER ELECTRONICS INSIDE THE VEHICLE SUCH AS THE REARVIEW MIRROR PUTTING ME OUT HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO REPAIR. *TR
THE CHROME ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT DOOR HANDLE HAS BEGUN TO PEEL AND IS VERY SHARP. A PASSENGER CUT THEIR HAND ON THE HANDLE LAST WEEK. I HAVE SINCE HAD TO CUT A PORTION OF THE CHROME OFF AND APPLY TAPE OVER THE HANDLE TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN.
MY 79 YEAR OLD WIFE BADLY CUT HER FINGER WHILE OPENING THE DOOR OF OUR VEHICLE. THE DOOR HANDLE OF MY VEHICLE IS PLATED IN CHROME. THIS CHROME IS NOW COMING UNDONE, AND IS RAZOR SHARP. TODAY THE LAST OF THE 4 DOOR HANDLES BROKE DUE TO DEFECT ON THE HANDLES THEMSELVES. GM STATES THAT THESE ARE TRIM AND NOT CONSIDERED MECHANICAL (EVEN THOUGH THEY PERFORM A MECHANICAL FUNCTION) SO THEY AREN'T RECALLING THEM EVEN THOUGH THIS ISSUE IS WIDESPREAD AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE. IF A VEHICLE IS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE PASSENGERS INSIDE ARE UNCONSCIOUS OR UNABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR THEMSELVES DUE TO INJURY , THE DOOR HANDLES COULD BREAK AS A FIREFIGHTER OR OTHER PERSON FROM THE OUTSIDE TRIES TO OPEN THEM.. THIS IS A LAWSUIT WAITING TO HAPPEN AND GM KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM THEY ARE CHOOSING TO IGNORE IT. RECALL AND REPLACE THESE DOOR HANDLES WITH ONES THAT CAN ACTUALLY OPEN THE DOOR BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT! I AM ON HIGH DOSES OF COUMADIN AND IF IT WERE MY FINGER I COULD HAVE BLEED TO DEATH. After restarting the vehicle, the check engine warning light remained illuminated. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. Both air bags deployed for no reason driver and passenger
The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the traction control warning light illuminated, and the vehicle became very unstable and difficult to steer. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the traction control system was faulty and needed to be replacement. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 125,000. The dealership was contacted to inspect the vehicle for issues related to traction control but was denied. The contact also bought the necessary parts in an effort to save money but was denied again by the dealership. The contact is still looking for anyone who will help repair the vehicle.
Dash cracked. A/C and windshield defroster throws pieces of broken dash when it falls in Duct and fan. Dealer inspected. Offered to sell new dash cover and labor to install. dealer referred to manufacturer representative. no warning lights.
The dashboard has started to crack near the airbag. In the event of the airbag being deployed, it could potentially send sharp pieces of plastic flying into the passengers face.
