DRIVER MADE RIGHT TURN , STEERING LOCKED UP ,LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE, AND CRASHED ONTO A CURB WHEN THE GAS TANK RUPTURED, CAUSING 4 DEATHS AND TWO WERE SEVERELY BURNED AND 1 HAD MINOR BURNS. ALL WERE OCCUPANTS INSIDE THE VEHICLE, THREE IN FRONT AND FOUR IN THE BACK. GAS TANK HAD NO ROTECTIVE SHIELD. *AK

AS INDICATED ON POLICE REPORT DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE, RAN OFF THE SIDE OF A 2 LANE HIGHWAY, STRADDLED A GUARD RAIL AND SOME TREES, BEFORE FLIPPING OVER AND CATCHING ON FIRE. VEHICLE TOTALED. DRIVER AND PASSENGER WERE KILLED. TWO DAYS PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT, THE DRIVER COMPLAINED ABOUT STEERING PROBLEM . STEERING COLUMN COUPLING RECALL 97V169000 REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED ON 02/06/98. CAUSE OF FIRE WAS UNDETERMINED.*AK
CONSUMER FEELS THAT THERE MAY HAVE BEEN A DEFECT IN 1995 NEON CAUSING THE DRIVER TO LOSE HIS LIFE. *TS A RECALL NOTICE WAS SENT 5 MONTHS AFTER THE CONSUMERS SON WAS KILLED. THE CONSUMER DIDN'T PURSUE ANY LEGAL ACTION TO DETERMINE IF A STEERING DEFECT AS MENTIONED IN THE RECALL NOTICE CAUSED THE HER SON TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. *JB
: THE FIRST WEEK OF JUNE, MY SON WAS INVOLVED IN A ACCIDENT WHICH CAUSED THE AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY. BOTH BAGS DID DEPLOYED, BUT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG CAUGHT ON FIRE. FORTUNATELY NO ONE WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, BUT THE FIRE WAS SEVERE ENOUGH TO CHAR THE SEAT. I CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY DID AN INVESTIGATION. IN A LETTER THEY SENT TO ME THEY SAY "OUR INSPECTION REVEALED THAT THE THRESHOLD FOR AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT WAS MET AND THE PROPER AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT DID OCCUR". I DON'T FEEL THAT A FIRE CAUSED BY AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED "PROPER DEPLOYMENT". IT HAS TAKEN ME OVER A MONTH TO GET THEM TO LOOK INTO THIS AND TO GET THIS KIND OF RESPONSE I FIND UPSETTING. DO YOU CONSIDER THIS AS "PROPER AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT"? CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN CRASH AND DUAL AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. WHEN DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED, IT HAD IGNITED A FIRE ON DRIVER SWEATSHIRT ON ARM. CONSUMER HAD TO GET OUT OF VEHICLE QUICKLY, AND TAKE FIRE OUT. NEXT DAY CONSUMER NOTICED THERE WAS A HOLE IN AIRBAG. *AK

WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 45MPH ON NARROW ROAD, VEHICLE VEERED TO SIDE & HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. DRIVER (SISTER) OVERCORRECTED INTO OTHER LANE & HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE HEAD-ON, BOTH AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THIS IS TEARING MY CAR UP AND THE VALUE OF THE CAR. I WAS TOLD THAT DODGE DOES NOT COVER REAR STRUTS. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY WITH ONLY LESS THAT 37,000 MILES ON THE CAR THAT IT OBVIOUSLY WAS THE DEALER OR THE MANUFACTUER'S FAULT. WHY WOULD I TEAR UP A CAR THAT I JUST BOUGHT? THANK YOU FOR LISTENING.
HAZARD LIGHTS FAILED CAUSING IT TO BE DANGEROUS TO SPEED (FEAR OF FURTHER DELAYS) TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM (RESIDENCE OUT OF AMBULANCE ARE, WOULD HAVE TAKEN LONGER TO CALL 911) , WIFE MISCARRIED, WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED IF ARRIVED SOONER.
CRUISE CONTROL WAS SET AT 63 MPH. COMING TO BRAKE, DID NOT DISENGAGE. PEDAL GOT STUCK, DID NOT RELEASE. REARENDED VEHICLE IN FRONT. AIR BAG DEPLOYED. HAD SEAT BELT ON. VEHCILE CAUGHT ON FIRE. THIS DEFECT RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. *AK

VEHICLE WAS HIT 3:00 POSITION VEHICLE WAS AT COMPLETE STOP AIR BAG INFLATED PARTICALLY AND CAUGHT ON FIRE. TT
DT: THE CALLER SAID THAT BRAKES WILL NOT WORK ONE HAS TO HIT THE BRAKES AT THE LAST MINUTE. SHE SAID ONE CAN FEEL A POP, AND THEN THE BRAKES FAIL. SHE HAD TO RUN INTO A DITCH TO KEEP FORM HITTING SOMEONE. THE POLICE WERE CALLED, AND THERE A REPORT WAS TAKEN. THERE WAS A CRASH. THERE WERE INJURIES TO THE PEDESTRIAN. SHE SAID THE HUB ASSEMBLY WAS BAD AND HAD IT REPLACED. ALSO, THE TIE ROD WOBBLED AND HAD IT REPLACED. HAD ANOTHER ACCIDENT WITH THE BRAKES WHEN THE CAR IN FRONT OF STOPPED SUDDENLY AND BRAKES DID NOT WORK. POLICE CAME AND A REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE LADY IN THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS INJURED. DEALER WILL TAKE THE CAR TO DEALER, AND THEY WILL TALK ABOUT IT. MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN CONTACTED YET. CALLER SAID SHE WAS NOT INFORMED ABOUT THE PROBLEMS THE VEHICLE HAD WHEN SHE BOUGHT IT.*AK
