DRIVING DOWN ON THE INTERSTATE ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE WERE NO BRAKES, ABSOLUTELY NO WAY TO STOP VEHICLE, RESULTING IN A CRASH/INJURIES. THERE WAS NO WARNING OR INDICATION OF BRAKES NOT WORKING. THE SYSTEM HAS ABS. *AK

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1990 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE IS LEAKING GASOLINE. THE VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME FAILURE AS NOTED IN RECALL #'S 89V141000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:AUXILIARY TANK:SELECTOR DEVICES), # 93V125000 ( FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY), AND # 01I008000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALLS, HOWEVER, HIS VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO GET REPAIRED FREE OF CHARGE DUE TO THE ELAPSED TIME FRAME. THE ENGINE SIZE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 78,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000. UPDATED 06/08/07. *JB
EVENTS LEADING UP TO EXPLOSION AND FIRE. *JB
WHILE DRIVING, CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO TURN ON THE CARGO LIGHT, HOWEVER IT WOULD NOT TURN ON, THE DASH LIGHTS WENT COMPLETELY OUT AND THEN THE CONSUMER COULD SMELL A BURNING ODOR, THE CONSUMER PULLED OVER AND COULD SEE A LIGHT GLOWING UNDER THE DASH IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA OF THE LIGHT SWITCH, CONSUMER FEELS THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY THE FAULTY DIMMER PORTION OF THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY. *SLC
2 RECALLS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED ON THIS FUEL TRANSFER PROBLEM AND DEALER ANSWER WAS THEY JUST PUT ON PARTS AND DIDN'T EXPECT IT TO FIX PROBLEM!*AK
AUTO DEALERSHIP INDICATED ON MY PURCHASE CONTRACT THEY WOULD REPAIR THE HEATER UNIT. (HEATER UNIT AND AIR CONDITIONER WOULD WORK FOR A SHORT TIME (HEATER COLD AIR; AC-HOT AIR). I REPEATEDLY COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER ABOUT THE HEATER AND THEY NEVER RETURNED MY CALL. IN MAY 2000, THEY SAID I HAD THE PU TOO LONG AND THEY DIDN'T OWE ME ANYTHING. 1 NOV 2000, I PURCHASED A NEW BATTER AT AUTOZONE AND A MECHANIC INSTALLED IT FOR ME. ON 4 JAN 2001, 5-10 MINUTES AFTER I EXITED THE TRUCK, THEIR WAS AN EXPLOSION IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND IT THEN BECAME ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE TRUCK WAS PARKED AND IGNITION TURNED OFF. INVESTIGATING POLICE OFFICER INDICATED THAT THE MAIN FIRE WAS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE; BATTERY IS SPLIT OPEN ON TOP AND THE HEATER UNIT AND FIRE WALL IS COMPLETELY GONE, TO INCLUDE THE FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM COMPONENTS.
WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWA, CONSUMER NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE, VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE AND BURNED DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHORT. *AK
IGNITION SWITCH SHORTED, CAUSING FIRE.
WHILE DRIVING THE SPARE TIRE MOUNTED UNDER THE FUEL TANK CAUGHT ON FIRE. *AK
IGNITION SWITCH FAILED RESULTING IN SMOKE COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN AND DASH, CAUSING VEHICLE FIRE AND TOTAL DESTRUCTION.
