DRIVING WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON AT 65 MPH, CAR VEERED TO RIGHT SHOULDER SUDDENLY, STEERING LOCKED UP, CAR JUMPED OUT OF CRUISE CONTROL, LEAPED FORWARD/ OVER MEDIAN, ROLLED 5 TIMES, SIDE DOOR CAME OFF, DRIVER SERIOUSLY INJURED, 2 PASSENGERS DIED. *AK CONSUMER STATES CRUISE CONTROL APPEARED TO HAVE DROPPED OUT AND THEN RESTARTED.*JB
WHILE DRIVING ON 2 LANE ROAD HAD DRIVER TO DRIVER FRONT END COLLISION. FRONT VEHICLE GAVE WAY AND CRUSHED. THE DRIVER WAS TRAPPED AND HAD TO BE CUT OUT. THEN TAKEN OUT SIDE SLIDING DOOR. 2ND VEHICLE ALSO AN ASTROVAN SIMILAR DAMAGE THE DRIVER DIED ON THE SCENE.
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH GOING ABOUT 20 MPH, HIT A CEMENT POLE HEAD-ON AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE WHOLE FRONT END OF VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. DRIVER OF VEHICLE WAS KILLED, CAUSE OF DEATH WAS DETERMINED AS A HEART ATTACK. *AK

I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY 1995 ASTRO VAN 4.03L FROM THE DAY I BOUGHT IT HARD STARTING ASB LOCKING UP DEALER REPLACED EGR VALUE TWICE TOOK BACK WITH SAME PROBLEM 3 MONTHS LATER WAS TOLD NOTHING WRONG COMPUTER DIGITAL CHECK SAID SO NOW I HAVE GOTTEN 2 MECHANICS TO LOOK AT IT AND SAID THE EGR VALVE FUEL LIND STAYS OPEN POURING OUT GAS THEY WANT TO CHARGE MY 600.00 TO CLEAN OUT THE SLUGE THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 3 YEARS MY VAN NOW HAS 82000 MILES AND IT SOUNDS AND SMELLS LIKE A MAC TRUCK I ALSO HAS TO REPLACE TO WIPER MOTOR ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO AND I PAID FOR IT I JUST A NOTICE TO REPLACE IT IT NO CHARGE I CANT FIND THE ORGINAL RECEIPT SO I'M OUT ANOTHER120.00 FOR THAT REPAIR ALONG WITH THE 65.00 SO A LOCAL MECHANIC. CAN TELL ME THIS IS A DEFECT FROM CHEVROLET FOR MY ASTRO VAN I HAVE HAD THE BREAKS CHECKED BY THE DEALER ABOUT 6 TIMES THEY INFORMED ME I DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO USE ABS SYSTEM AND THEY WERE FINE IN ALL MY BRAKES LOCKED UP ON I4 IN FLORIDA LAST AUGUST TRYING TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT 4700.00 LATER I WAS IN THE DITCH BECAUSE THE BRAKES LOCKED UP AND MY VAN WENT SLIDING *LA
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 55 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND WITHOUT WARNING. ANOTHER VEHICLE REAR ENDED CONSUMER'S VEHICLE . DRIVER'S SIDE AND PASSENGER'S SIDE SEAT BELTS BROKE LOOSE, DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUSTANED NECK AND BACK INJURIES. THEY WERE TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE. MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOTIFIED ABOUT THE ACCIDENT. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH ANOTHER VEHICLE PULLED IN FRONT , CONSUMER HIT OTHER VEHICLE WITH THE FRONT END. UPON IMPACT, DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY, CAUSING INJUIRES IN CHEST. NO INDICATIONS OF DEFECT. VEHICLE WAS TOTAL LOSS.*AK
VAN INVOLVED IN CAR ACCIDENT. MY VAN BROADSIDED A 1990 LEBARON. I WAS TRAVELING APPROX. 35 MPH. THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. CHEVROLET INSPECTED THE VAN AND FOUND NO DEFECTS, BUT THEY REFUSED TO PROVIDE A COPY OF THEIR INVESTIGATION. THE INVESTIGATION WAS CONFIDENTIAL, BUT THEY DID NOT PROVIDE A REASON FOR THE AIRBAG NOT DEPLOYING. *AK

I WAS ON 401-EAST IN TORONTO. I TOOK THE ISLINGTON RD EXIT AND TGE TRAFFIC WAS CRAWLING AT THE BEST. WE WRE TARVELLING AT LESS TAH 10MPH AND I WAS ABOUT 5FT BEHIND THE CAR IN FRONT. I WANTED TO SLOW DOWN AND USED THE BRAKES. THE CAR STOPPED IN A COULPLE OF FEET AND THEN LURCHED/SURGED FORWARD WITH MY FOOTSTIL ON THE BRAKES. THIS IS THE THRIRD TIME THIS HAPPENED. THE OTHER TWO TIMES IT WAS IN LANSING AND IT HAPPENED AT MUCH HIGHER SPPEDS. I TOKK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS SURGING/LURCHING WAS NORMAL FOR ABS BRAKES. I HAD THE BRAKES CHECKED AGAIN TWOWEEKS AGO WHILE I WAS GETING OTHER WORK DONE AND I WAS TOLD THEY ARE GOOD FOR ANOTHER 10,000MILES. DOES NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID # 991006000 RELATE TO THIS? ACOORDING TO A DEALER IN TORONTO THIS VAN IS NOT INCLUDED. I WOLULD LIKE TO GET SOME INFO ONWHOM TO APROACH IN THE GM CORPORATION REGARDINGTHIS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ASISTANCE.
IT WAS A LIGHT SNOW FALLING BUT THE TEMPERATURE WAS ABOVE FREEZING AND THE STREETS WERE WET. A CONSILIDATED FREIGHTWAYS TRUCK CUT IN FRONT OF ME SO I HAD TO APPLY THE BRAKES. THE ABS SYSTEM DID NOT PUMP THE BRAKES LIKE IT WAS SUPPOSE TO. THE VAN SKIDDED INTO A DIVIDING WALL DUE TO ABS FAILURE. THE VAN WAS TOTALED. I HAD SEAT BELT AND AIR BAG TRAMA. MY WIFE BROKE HER RIGHT KNEE CAP AND CRACKED HER BREST BONE. I SAW THE RECALL LAST NIGHT ON TV. I SAW THAT MY OLD VAN IS BEING RECALLEDBECAUSE OF ABS PROBLEMS. PLEASE ADD THIS ACCIDENT TO YOUR LIST. VEHICLE INVOVED IN AN ACCDENT, BROADSIDING ANOTHER VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH. UPON IMPACT, DRIVER'S AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. MANUFACTURER NOTIFIED, AND HAD NOTHING POSTIVE TO SAY. SEEKING NHTSA FOR HELP IN THIS MATTER. *AK
I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 20 MPH OVER AN OVERPASS WHEN I SAW THAT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME HAD STOPPED. EVEN THOUGH IT SEEMED THAT THERE WAS PLENTY OF ROOM TO STOP (MAYBE 200 FEET) WHEN I STOOD ON THE BRAKES, IT ONLY SLOWED THE VAN DOWN BUT NOT QUICK ENOUGH. I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE BETTER TO HIT THEM STRAIGHT ON RATHER THAN SWERVING AND MAYBE CLIPING THEM. I DID NOT FEEL ANY VIBRATION FROM THE ABS BRAKES. I ALSO DID NOT LAY A SKID MARK. I BENT THE STEARING WHEEL BUT THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I HAD MY BRAKES SEVICED JUST 3 WEEK BEFORE THE CRASH. THEY GAVE ME NEW FRONT BRAKES AND DID MY FRONT END. I ALSO GOT NEW TIRES. MY HUSBAND TRIED THE BRAKES ON A COUNTRY ROAD THE NEXT DAY AND THE VAN WENT SIDEWAYS. THE ABS LIGHT DID NOT COME ON TIL ABOUT A WEEK AFTER WE GOT THE CAR BACK FROM THE REPAIR SHOP. AT ABOUT 25000 MILES THE ABS LIGHT HAD COME ON AND ROMANIA CHEVROLET FIXED THE ABS UNDER THE WARRENTEE.

DRIVING VEHICLE, ANOTHER VEHICLE HEADING TOWARDS ASTRO SPUN OUT OF CONTROL, PUT ON ABS BRAKES, VAN DID NOT STOP, VEHICLE WAS HIT HEAD-ON, AIR BAG FELL INTO DRIVER'S LAP AND FILLED VEHICLE WITH SMOKE, SEAT BELT RESTRAINED BUT LEFT BRUISES. *AK
NO DEPLOYMENT OF DRIVERS AIR BAG DURING HEAD ON COLLISION. *DSH THE SHOULDER HARNESS DID NOT RESTRAI THE CONSUMER AND THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY DURING IMPACT. *SCC *JB
