TRUCK LEFT ROAD HIT EMBANKMENT THEN ROLLED. AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR
I WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT A VEHICLE HAD RAN OUT OF GAS, I WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 45MPH AND REAR ENDED THE STOPPED VEHICLE. THEN A TRUCK HIT ME. MY AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR
1. ABS KEPT KICKING IN ON LOW SPEED STOPS SUCH AS A SIMPLE STOP AT A STOP SIGN. 2. RESULT I WAS UNABLE TO STOP WHEN A TRUCK STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME. *JB
THE CONSUMER CRASHED INTO A TREE HEAD ON AT 35 MPH. THE FRONT AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY UPON IMPACT. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO HIS HEAD, SHOULDER AND NECK.*JB
WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. AS I WAS PUTTING THE GEAR SHIFT INTO PARK THE TRUCK LUNGED FORWARD HITTING A CONCRETE POST AND BUILDING. AIR BAGS DEPLOYED CAUSING INJURY TO DRIVER ON BOTH ARMS AND STOMACH. TRUCK IS TO BE REPAIRED AS THERE IS FRONT END DAMAGE FROM CRASH.
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION AT 40 MPH IMPACT. DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT FAILED TO HOLD THE DRIVER IN PLACE , AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES, AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE LOCAL HOSPITAL BY AN AMBULANCE. DEALER WAS CONTACTED, AND THE VEHICLE IS AT THE BODY SHOP.*AK
PERIODIC ABS SYSTEM FAILURE OCCURRING WHILE DRIVING AND APPLYING THE BRAKES. HAS BEEN A FAILURE FOR FOUR YEARS MADE EFFORTS TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM BY CALLING THEM AND NO SATISFACTION. I'VE ASKED OTHER COLORADO OWNERS AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE THIS PROBLEM IN THE 05, 06.. I HIT INTO A SCHOOL BUS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET COLORADO CREW CAB. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE FROM 45 MPH THE BRAKES BEGAN GRINDING METAL TO METAL. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED TWICE. WHEN APPROACHING A TRAFFIC SIGNAL THE CONTACT HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKES IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AS THE ABS, AND STATED THAT THE REPAIR COULD BE PERFORMED IF THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY. AFTER HAVING THE REAR LOWER BRAKE PRESSURE REPAIRED THE ABS BECAME INOPERABLE. THE RIGHT REAR END WOULD SLIDE, GRIND, AND PRODUCE A SCREETCHING NOISE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE CAUSED A HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER TO REQUEST FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR THE REPAIR OF THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE CONTACT RECEIVED RECALL # 06V139000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 36,800 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,000.*AK
DT: STANDARD BRAKING WAS FINE BUT WHEN THE CONSUMER NEEDED THE ABS IT DID NOT WORK. IN NORMAL BRAKING THE WHEELS STARTED TO LOCK UP AND IT RELEASED BUT IT NEVER REENGAGED. THE ABS TROUBLE LIGHT AS WELL AS A INFORMATION CENTER ON HIS DASHBOARD ILLUMINATED INDICATING A PROBLEM WITH THE ABS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FRONT ABS SENSOR. THE DEALER DIDN'T HAVE THE PART TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. GM IS PENDING THE OUTCOME OF THE INVESTIGATION. GM INDICATED THE FAULTY ABS WOULD NOT HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AT THIS TIME. *NM
WHILE ENTERING A PARKING SPACE THE FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. AS THE FOOT LET UP ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE ENGINE REVVED AND THE TRUCK LURCHED FORWARD. THE TRUCK HIT A BUILDING BEFORE THE BRAKE COULD BE REAPPLIED.*AK
LESS THAN A WEEK AFTER I PURCHASED THE 2004 GM COLORADO PICKUP TRUCK THE TAILGATE OPEN ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND THE CABINET I WAS HAULING FELL OFF THE TRUCK INTO THE ROAD CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I WAS SURE THE DOOR WAS SHUT SECURELY BUT SOMEHOW IT JUST OPENED UP.*AK
There apparently was fuel dripping onto the starter and soaking the starter so when we went to start the truck. It caught on fire 🔥🔥 And my truck is a total loss
I'VE HAD TO REPLACE 2 HEATER BLOWER RESISTORS DUE TO A MELTDOWN, THIS IS A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD AND SHOULD BE PUT ON A RECALL NOTICE. I WAS DRIVING AROUND 40 MPH AT THE TIME .
I TOO HAVE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH THE HVAC SYSTEM OF THIS TRUCK. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE NO LESS THAN 4 RESISTORS AND CONNECTORS DUE TO MELTING AND BURNED CONNECTIONS. I HAVE NOT HAD TO REPLACE A SINGLE FUSE. MY HVAC IS ONCE AGAIN INOPERABLE AND I HAVE OPENED AND INSPECTED EACH CONNECTION POINT TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE FOUND MULTIPLE CONNECTORS TO BE BURNED OR MELTED. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN FLAGGED BY THE NHSTA IN THE HUMMER H3 VEHICLES WHICH USE THE SAME HVAC SYSTEM. THE CHEVROLET/GMC/ISUZU COLORADO/CANYON (GMT355) SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. THERE IS NO REASON THESE CONNECTIONS SHOULD GET HOT ENOUGH TO BUBBLE AND BURN PLASTIC BEFORE BURNING OUT A FUSE. I CAN PROVIDE IMAGES UPON REQUEST. I CAN ALSO PROVIDE AN EXAMPLE OF A FAILED CONNECTOR IN THE HVAC SPEED CONTROL SWITCH FOR PHYSICAL INSPECTION. I HAVE SET THE "FIRE" FLAG ON THIS REPORT AS THERE HAS BEEN EVIDENCE OF MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL FIRES ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS IN SEVERAL LOCATIONS IN THE HVAC SYSTEM OF THIS VEHICLE. *JS
THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WILL STOP WORKING IF YOUR DRIVING AT NIGHT AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN TURN IT BACK ON. THEY WILL NOT WORK UNTIL THE CAR SITS FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. THIS STARTED SOON AFTER BUYING THE CAR BRAND NEW, BUT THE DEALERSHIP COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. SECOND COMPLAINT, THE HEATER/AIR CONDITIONER FAN HAD AN ELECTRICAL FIRE AT WHERE THE HARNESS PLUGS INTO THE FAN MOTOR. THE FAN WILL ONLY WORK ON HIGH. WHEN I LOOKED ONLINE AT OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM, I UNPLUGGED THE FAN AND NOTICED THE PLUG WAS BURNT. I HAVE PHOTOS THAT I CAN SEND. IT APPEARED THE ELECTRICAL FIRE CONTINUED DOWN THE PLASTIC PLUG TO WHERE THE WIRES ARE EXPOSED. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR INCIDENT IF I DIDN'T NOTICE IT. THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS WITH COLORADO TRUCKS ONLINE. ALSO WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT, MY DASH LIGHTS AND INSTRUMENT LIGHTS FLICKER AS IF THERE IS ANOTHER ELECTRICAL SHORT SOMEWHERE IN THE WIRING HARNESS. *TR
COULD CAUSE FIRE!!! AC SPEED REGULATOR OF MY 2004 CREW-CAB COLORADO OVERHEATED SO MUCH THAT THE ADAPTER BURNT IN THE INSIDE AND CABLES OVERHEATED TO THE POINT THAT IT COULDN'T BE TOUCHED AND STARTED TO SMOKE. THIS IS LOCATED UNDERNEATH THE GLOVEBOX COMPARTMENT. IF THIS IS LEFT UNATTENDED COULD CAUSE A FIRE INSIDE THE VEHICLE! *TR
ON SAT OCT 1ST 2011 I WAS TRAVELING EAST ON THE INTERSTATE AT ABOUT 75 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT FELT LIKE I HAD BLOWN A TIRE. THE STEERING BECAME RATHER SLUGGISH AND I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I GOT OUT CHECKED ALL THE TIRES AND THEY ALL LOOKED OK, SO I GOT BACK IN THE VEHICLE. MY GRANDSON AND HIS FRIEND WERE IN THE BACK SEAT IT WAS A CREW CAB. I NOTICED THAT THE 4WD INDICATOR ON THE DASH WAS ON BUT I HAD NOT SWITCHED IT FROM 2WD IT HAD DONE IT ON IT'S OWN . I TRIED TO SWITCH IT BACK INTO 2WD BUT UPON MOVING THE VEHICLE IT STILL FELT LIKE IT WAS IN 4WD. I DECIDED TO GET THE VEHICLE OFF THE FREEWAY SO I COULD GO SLOWER AND GET THE VEHICLE HOME, SO I EXITED THE FWY ABOUT A MILE LATER AND GOT ON THE OLD HWY WHERE I COULD GO 35 MPH. MY DAUGHTER WAS BEHIND ME IN HER CAR. ABOUT 5 MILES DOWN THE ROAD MY DAUGHTER STARTS FLASHING HER LIGHTS SO I PULLED OVER AND SHE CAME RUNNING UP AND TOLD ME MY VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE , I ORDERED MY GRANDSON AND HIS FRIEND OUT OF THE TRUCK WE LEFT IMMEDIATELY , AND BACKED OFF ABOUT 200 FEET, YOU COULD SEE SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE AND FIRE DRIPPING FROM JUST ABOVE THE TRANSFER CASE BELOW THE FRONT PASSENGERS FLOORBOARD AREA. THE FIRE SPREAD AND THE VEHICLE BECAME FULLY ENGULFED THE TIRE MELTED THE LEATHER INTERIOR WAS COMPLETELY VAPORIZED NEEDLESS TO SAY IT WAS A TOTAL LOSS. MY THEORY IS THAT THE SWITCHING MECHANISM FOR THE TRANSFER CASE IS DEFECTIVE IT SHOULD NOT HAVE SWITCHED ON IT'S OWN AT 75MPH. I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHEN IT DID. THAT CAUSED SOME KIND OF DAMAGE INTERNALLY IN THE TRANSFER CASE. WHEN I DROVE THE VEHICLE IT HEATED UP UNTIL IT WAS RED HOT AND CAUGHT THE FUEL FILTER ON FIRE WHICH EVENTUALLY RUPTURED SPREAD THE FIRE AND DESTROYED THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH WAS REPLACED NUMEROUS TIMES FOR A RECURRING FAILURE. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V310000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING: BRAKE LIGHTS: SWITCH). THE DEALER REPLACED THE SWITCH UNDER THE RECALL BUT EVERY 20,000 MILES, THE SWITCH WOULD FAIL AGAIN. THE AC RESISTOR WIRES WERE MELTED, CAUSING THE AIR CONDITIONER TO ONLY OPERATE ON LOW. THE DEALER REPLACED THE WIRING HARNESS AND THE RESISTOR BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RESISTER FOR THE WIRING HARNESS WAS DEFECTIVE AND SMOKE WOULD EMIT FROM THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 103,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THROUGHOUT THE COURSE OF OWNERSHIP, I'VE HAD SEVERAL COMPLAINTS TO THE DEALERSHIP CONCERNING THE FAULTY ELECTRICAL WIRING IN MY VEHICLE. SINCE 2004, ALL REPAIRS HAVE BEEN ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. I HAVE REASON TO BELIEVE THAT THE FAULTY WIRING IN MY VEHICLE WAS THE CAUSE OF FIRE TO MY VEHICLE WHICH RESULTED IN A TOTAL LOSS. I WAS ALSO MADE AWARE BY LOCAL FIREMEN AT THE SCENE THAT THEY'VE HAD THE SAME TYPE OF FIRES WITH THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE JUST IN MY AREA ALONE.
