TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 50 MPH THE SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING SYSTEM LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND VEERED TO THE LEFT THROUGH TRAFFIC BEFORE HITTING A WALL. THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED MINOR CUTS AND BRUISES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
MY SON OWNS A 2006 CORVETTE C6. HE WAS DRIVING FOR 2 YEARS WHEN HIS CAR WENT OUT OF CONTROL AND SUFFERED A TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY, IN A COMA FOR 6 MONTHS. HIS CAR HAD A "SERVICE TRACTION STABILITY CONTROL" INDICATION ON THE DIC TWICE WITHIN A 30 DAY PERIOD. HE WAS QUICK TO SERVICE THIS WARNING IMMEDIATELY WITH THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AS THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY. NOW I UNDERSTAND THERE IS A REAL PROBLEM WITH THE TRACTION STABILITY CONTROL FOR 2006 CORVETTE AND GM HAS NOW ISSUED A RECALL. TO LATE MY SON HAS BRAIN DAMAGE. *TR
CYLINDER HEAD VALVE GUIDES WORN REQUIRING REPLACEMENT BEFORE WARRANTY EXPIRATION. IF NOT REPAIRED CATASTROPHIC MOTOR FAILURE CAN OCCUR. IF THIS HAPPENS CAR BECOMES UNCONTROLLABLE WITH OIL AND COOLANT FLOODING OUT OF MOTOR. NEW HEADS WERE ORDERED FROM THE FACTORY AND THEY WERE OUT OF SPECIFICATION AND NEEDED MODIFICATION BEFORE INSTALLED. PREVIOUS 2008 CORVETTE (UNKNOWN VIN BUT CAN BE FOUND AT DEALERSHIP WHERE SERVICED HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM LEADING TO THE ABOVE MENTIONED FAILURE AND UNCONTROLLED VEHICLE CONDITION. THIS HAPPENED ON AN OFFLOAD VENUE SO THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT REPORT. I DON NOT KNOW THE EXACT DATES BUT ENTERED A DATE AS REQUIRED BELOW.
STEERING WHEEL LOCKED WHILE DRIVING
1ST THE PLASTIC BUSHING THAT HOLDS THE SHIFT CABLE TO THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT LINKAGE BROKE AND LEFT THE CAR INOPERABLE ( UNABLE TO SHIFT ) PARKED IN MY CARPORT ABOUT 4 MOTHS AGO , 2ND THE PLASTIC BUSHING THAT HOLDS THE SHIFT CABLE TO THE CENTER CONSOLE SHIFTER BROKE AND LEFT MY CAR IN REVERSE AND TOOK OFF AND ROLLED BACK INTO CARPORT WITH BOTH DOORS OPEN , NEEDLESS TO SAY WHAT HAPPENED I'VE ONLY SEEN IN THE MOVIES UNTIL NOW , BOTH DOORS ARE TOTALED , AND CHEVROLET KNOWS THIS TO BE A PROBLEM BUT DOES NOT FIX CHEAP PLASTIC BUSHINGS , ONLY OFFERS WHOLE CABLE WITH SAME CHEAP PLASTIC BUSHINGS ...
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AT AROUND 8:45 PM AND WHILE DRIVING THROUGH WINDY ROADS MY HEAD LIGHTS SIMULTANEOUSLY TURNED OFF WHICH CAUSED ME TO DRIVE STRAIGHT INTO A K-RAIL, BEING THAT THERE WERE NO STREET LIGHTS SO IT WAS PITCH BLACK OUT. *JB
ON WEDNESDAY 7 NOV 2012, I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AT APPROX 4:30PM AND WHILE CHANGING LANES (FROM THE RH LANE TO THE LH LANE, TO MAKE A LEFT TURN IN APPROX HALF A MILE) WHEN THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRES POPPED AND I SPUN, CROSSED THE MEDIAN, CROSS TWO SOUTHBOUND LANES, STRUCK AN ELECTRICITY POLE, SPUN AGAIN AND FINALLY CAME TO REST ON THE SIDEWALK & GRASS. NEITHER STABILITY CONTROL NOR TRACTION CONTROL ACTIVATED ONCE THE CAR BEGAN TO SPIN (COUNTER CLOCKWISE) WHICH CREATED AN UNCONTROLLABLE AND UNRECOVERABLE SPIN. THE FAILURE OF THESE SYSTEMS ACTIVATE AND OPERATE PROPERLY COULD HAVE KILLED ME AND DESTROYED THE CAR. BOTH SYSTEMS WERE FULLY OPERATIONAL AND ON. ALSO, THE SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY WHEN THE IMPACTED THE POLE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. *TR
CHANGING LANES ON A BUSY AVENUE AT LUNCH TIME GOING ABOUT 30MPG CAR LOST CONTROL FROM THE BACK AND ENDED HITTING A ELECTRICAL POST. AFTER TAKING TO SHOP AND BEING REPAIRED WHICH TOOK OVER 6 MONTHS I RETURNED TO THE SHOP DUE TO A NOISE IN THE RIGHT REAR WHERE THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED AND FOUND THAT THE REAR AXLE WAS BROKEN. IT WAS DECIDED THAT THIS WAS THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT. *TR
DRIVING BACK FROM LUNCH TO THE OFFICE I WAS CHANGING LANES ON A HEAVILY TRAFFIC AREA. WAS GOING ABOUT 30MPH WHEN THE CAR STARTED TO FISH TAIL OUT OF CONTROL GOING SIDEWAYS INTO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SLAMMING INTO A ELECTRICAL POST. BOTH MYSELF AND MY PASSENGER WERE IN AWE. I COULD NOT CONTROL THE CAR AND IT SEEMS EVENTHOUGH I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS IT KEPT INCREASING. THE HIT WAS SO HARD IT DAMAGED THE POST AND THE CAR SEVERELY. I STILL DO NOT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED SINCE IT HAS TRACTION CONTROL IT SHOULD HAVE NEVER FISHTAILED AND AT THAT LOW SPEED. NO TIRE MARKS OR ANY SIGN OF ACCELERATION WERE FOUND. I HAVE 2006 CHEVY CORVETTE WHAT A JOKE THIS CAR HAS BEEN. I HAVE HAD A NEW ENGINE I HAVE SPENT 40,000 ON REPAIRS TO THIS CAR ITS NEVER ENDING.I HAVE REPLACED EVERYTHING ON IT TWICE. 2006 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 OIL LINE RELATED ENGINE FIRE CUSTOMER STATES THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN PROBLEM**CC THE CONSUMER STATED ON JUNE 8, 2007 HIS NEW CAR SUSTAINED A 3 POINT ENGINE FIRE RELATED TO AN ENGINE OIL LINE DEFECT. THE CONSUMER HE STATED WAS ACCOMPANIED BY EXPERIENCED GM CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO ASSESSED FOR UNRELATED REPAIRS AND WARRANTY WORK. THE CONSUMER STATED THE MECHANIC MADE AN ANALYSIS AS TO WHAT CAUSED THE FIRE. ANALYSIS REVEALED A DEFECTIVE OIL LINE AT THE CRIMPED- ON RUBBER HOSE TO METAL INTERFACE WHICH CONDUCTS OIL TO AN EXTERNAL COOLER. *TR

HE STATED THAT THE ROOF DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE AND STRUCK HIS SON ON THE HEAD. THE ROOF THEN LANDED IN A FIELD ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER IN DECEMBER OF 2006. THE DEALER EXAMINED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG, HOWEVER THEY STATED THAT IF A FAILURE WAS FOUND, THEY WOULD REPAIR THE VEHICLE UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER, IF THE CONTACT WERE TO CLAIM MEDICAL EXPENSES, THEY WOULD NOT OFFER HIM ANY ASSISTANCE. HE NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER WHO ALSO DID NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE STATE'S ATTORNEY'S GENERAL OFFICE WHO PROVIDED FURTHER INFORMATION REGARDING THE RECALL PERTAINING TO THE ROOF FAILURE. HE STATED THAT HIS SON SUFFERS FROM SEVERE NECK INJURIES. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 12,500.
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Corvette. The contact became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 09V491000 (Structure). The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where the contact was informed that the recall part was no longer available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that the part had been discontinued. The contact was advised to purchase the part from a junkyard or to order an entire roof from the dealer at his expense. The contact had not experienced a failure.
2006 Corvette convertible. Has a strong gas smell after filling up. I understand this is a common problem, but Chevrolet will not acknowledge it. The gas can drip down on the hot exhaust system, and start a fire, burning down our house, or out on the road with us in it! Strong fuel smell coming from the vehicle after fueling filling.
We were driving 55 and the car stalled. This has happened several times. Been at dealer and the codes show fine they replaced what they thought was issue and it still does this. Very scary
I purchased this car from a dealer in Sarasota Florida. Driving it home from the dealer, I was driving approximately 70 mph on [XXX] near Sarasota. The vehicle suddenly braked and pulled to the left simultaneously. I have taken it to a repair shop that specializes in Corvettes, and trying to ID the problem. In doing research, evidently it is related to the active handling system. There is a recall NHTSA Campaign Number: 10V172000 Manufacturer GENERAL MOTORS CORP.
