TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2017 JEEP RENEGADE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED TO HER RESIDENCE, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL BURNING ODOR INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. THE CONTACT PULLED INTO HER DRIVEWAY, UNLATCHED AND OPENED THE HOOD, AND FLAMES ERUPTED FROM THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES TO BOTH ARMS HOWEVER, SUSTAINED NO BURNS. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CONTACTED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. A FIRE AND POLICE REPORT WERE FILED. NEITHER A DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V131000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 58,000. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT.
-AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY IN A HEAD ON COLLISION!! -SAFETY! We were in a HEAD ON COLLISION and our airbags never deployed, if they had my daughter and I would have Significantly less bodily injuries and trauma!! -No warning lamps or messages appeared before or after impact -yes vehicle has been inspected by police, insurance reps, auto service center rep, lawyer I was driving our newly purchased (owned less then 30 days with 17882 miles) 2017 Jeep Renegade with my teenage daughter at 4:38pm rain was present traveling straight through an green light intersection I had the right a way when another car traveling towards us attempting to turn left failed to yield for us and hit us head on bouncing off and hitting us again at a high rate of speed. Airbags NEVER deployed
I was driving in right lane,40-45MPH, heard a very loud bang (not a tire), front end of jeep lifted UP, then began veering to the right heading off the road. I was unable to break or turn steering. Next thing, I woke up from being knocked out, hit a pole, 3 witnesses heard the bang as well - one witness told police, all 3 air bags went off. Emergency services were summoned. Car totaled. Pole is still standing upright. Fortunately I did not die or get seriously injured. Emergency services said if I had hit the tree next to pole, the outcome of my injuries would have been totally different. Car was towed to auto repair center and they had never seen collision damage such as this. Insurance company notified. Police report made at time of accident.no driver citations. a few days later I contacted jeep company, told them they needed to send someone out to look at this damage, because someone is going to die! They had a third party come out to the collision repair shop and get black box information/examined vehicle. A few days later, I received a carefully worded letter from Jeep that they saw NO SUSPENSION or STEERING issues to be the reason for the accident. Only the BANG, VEHICLE UPLIFT ON RIGHT SIDE, HITTING POLE. NO warning lights were on. This car was purchased new in 2/2018. I just hit the 30,000 miles, new tires on vehicle for 3 months and had only 2,000 miles of usage on them. The vehicle was in excellent condition and always maintained 100%. Even the Farmer's Insurance inspector stated car was in showroom condition. Rim broke in half along inner seam, no blowout evidence, tie rod broke in half, ball joint shaft inside of the knuckle (broke inside of it), pivot still in lower control arm. Have photos/police report/pics. NO OTHER VEHICLES INVOLVED. HUSBAND HAD TO HELP TOW TRUCK DRIVER SLIDE THE SUSPENSION UNDER VEHICLE TO TOW IT. I can send upon request insurance company docs and letter from JEEP upon request.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2017 JEEP RENEGADE. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN PICKING UP A PERSON AT A COMMUNITY CENTER, WHEN THE PASSENGER ENTERED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE JUST ACCELERATED ON IT'S OWN. THE CONTACT STATED THEY DEPRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP. THE VEHICLE WENT A CROSS STREET AND WENT OVER A GUARD RAIL. THE CONTACT STATED THEIR FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE CAME OFF OF THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY AND THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. MEDICAL TREATMENT WAS NEEDED AT THE SCENE, THE CONTACT WAS ONLY PERSON INJURED WHEN THEIR LEFT EYE LID WAS CUT WHICH NEEDED STICHES. THE CONTACT WAS TAKEN TO HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE FOR THEIR STICHES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY TERRY TOWING SERVICE. THE VEHICLE LATER WAS TOWED TO SCHAEFER AUTOBODY CENTERS (9902 WATSON RD, SAPPINGTON, MO 63126) WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DEEMED THE VEHICLE AS A TOTAL LOSS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,456.*DT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2017 JEEP RENEGADE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 20 MPH, SHE HAD BLACKED OUT AND HIT A TREE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY UPON IMPACT. AS THE PARAMEDICS ARRIVED AT THE SCENE, THE CONTACT AND HER TWO CHILDREN WERE TRANSPORTED TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL. HER ELEVEN YEAR SON WAS TREATED FOR A BROKEN C2 BONE IN HIS NECK, HER EIGHT YEAR OLD SON WAS TREATED FOR A SEVERE SEAT BELT RASH ON HIS NECK AND HIP, AND THE CONTACT HAD BEEN TREATED FOR VAGINAL BLEEDING AND OTHER BRUISES TO VARIOUS BODY PARTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AND TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT TOW YARD. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000.
THE JEEPS TIYROD BROKE WHILE DRIVING DOWN HWY COULD NOT STEER THE VEHICLE THIS RESULTING THE JEEP VEERED OFF THE ROAD AN SLAMMING INTO A TELEPHONE POLE WE HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO B SERVICED MONTHS BEFORE AN THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT LOOK AT OR EVEN. HELP US THEY SENT US AWAY LEAVING US CONCERNED ON HOW WE COULD GO ABOUT GETTING THE DEALERSHIP TO HELP AN NOT LONG AFTER THAT THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED
DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING ON NORTH DAKOTA STATE HIGHWAY 9, 2 MILES EAST OF KENSIL NORTH DAKOTA WHEN A LARGE BUCK DEER, ESTIMATED AT 200 LBS., JUMPED INTO THE ROADWAY, SHE HIT THE DEER SQUARE IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, ESTIMATED SPEED WAS 52 MILES PER HOUR, FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. SHE HIT HER HEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL.THE VEHICLE IS A TOTAL LOSS. THE QUESTION IS WHY THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. COULD HAVE BEEN MORE SERIOUS INJURIES, THEN WHAT SHE OBTAINED. *DT*JB
MY VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A SERIOUS FRONT END CRASH AND NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 JEEP RENEGADE. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO AVOID HITTING A PEDESTRIAN, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE STRUCK A TELEPHONE POLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD. THE CONTACT SUFFERED FROM SORENESS THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE DEALER (MCLARTY DANIEL CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM, 479-250-3900) WAS CALLED, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 24,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I was in a t-bone accident involving my 2017 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk. The accident was severe enough to yield the vehicle undrivable and insurance has tentatively declared it a total loss (claim not yet finalized). I had a passenger in the front seat at the time of the accident and we were both surprised that no airbags were deployed in the accident. We were wearing seatbelts and fortunately the only injuries sustained were bruising, but without seatbelts injuries would have been far worse. The Jeep was purchased with approximately 25K miles on the odometer, had only one previous owner, and had no record of accidents, damage, deployed airbags, or recalls. At time of the accident, the odometer had around 54K miles, there were no warning lamps or messages, had still not been in any prior accidents, had been regularly maintained, and exhibited no symptoms or problems. The contact stated while driving at approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle had stalled while the contact was in traffic, as she attempted to pull off the road, the power steering failed as well. The contact stated she hit the curb and lost control and crashed into a tree with the driver's side front fender and headlight. The vehicle had only slight damage to the headlight and front fender. The contact had suffered no injuries. The contact stated that the check engine light was illuminated. The contact had attempted to restart the vehicle and finally had it towed to her residence. The contact stated a non-certified mechanic had attempted to diagnose the failure and added a fuel system treatment solution to the fuel system. The contact stated that the vehicle finally restarted, however, the vehicle was idling roughly. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred, on a highway. The contact managed to pull off the highway and had the vehicle towed back to her residence. The vehicle had been checked again by the non-certified mechanic who said the failure was with the fuel pump. The vehicle had not been diagnosed by a dealer or certified mechanic and had not been repaired. The contact had researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V731000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
I HAVE TRIED TO GET IN CONTACT WITH SOMEONE TO GET MY FUEL PUMP FIXED. I FINALLY DID TODAY. BUT CAN'T GET IN UNTIL NEXTA FRIDAY. MY CAR HAS STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE HAD TO WRECK INTO MAILBOXES STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, AND ALMOST BE HIT BECAUSE MY CAR STOPS WORKING. I CAN'T WAIT ANY LONGER. MY CAR IS A DANGER
MY SON WAS DRIVING HOME - CITY STREET - IT WAS SNOWING AND ICY - THE CAR STALLED OUT AND HE SWERVED TO THE RIGHT JUMPED THE CURB AND RAN INTO A POLE AND TREE.*DT*TP I HAVE READ SEVERAL COMPLAINTS FOR THIS VEHICLE IN STALLING OUT AS WELL AS RECALLS. THE ISSUE IS SUPPOSEDLY REPAIRED BUT IT COMES BACK DOING THE SAME THING. DUE TO THIS ACCIDENT THIS HAS CAUSED US TO HAVE BODY WORK TO BE DONE AS WELL AS OTHER ISSUES. ANOTHER DRIVER RAN THE RED LIGHT AND THE HIT THE OTHER DRIVERS CAR BUT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *DT*JB
AT A SLOW RATE OF SPEED I PULLED INTO A PARKING SPACE. SLIGHTLY COMPRESSING THE BRAKE TO COME TO A HAULT. INSTEAD OF BRAKING, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INTO A CONCRETE PILLAR IN FRONT OF A BUILDING. A RED LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH INDICATING THE PARKING BRAKE, I LOOKED DOWN AND IT WAS NOT ON. SUNDAY, 2 JUN 2019 @ APPROXIMATELY 1900 ME AND MY FRIEND WERE RETURNING HOME FROM FISHING, GOING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH ON A LIGHT GRAVEL ROAD INSIDE A WILDLIFE STATE PRESERVE. WHILE MAKE STARTING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN, MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP ON ME WHICH MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN. I SLAMMED THE BRAKES AND WAS ABLE TO FREE THE STEERING WHEEL IN TIME TO TURN HARD RIGHT CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SLIDE AND COMING TO A STOP INCHES BEFORE GOING INTO THE RIVER. MY CAR WAS HANGING OFF THE BANK WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF ROLLING OVER INTO THE RIVER, MY FRIEND AND I HAD TO EXIT OUT OF THE PASSENGER DOOR FOR THE FEAR OF A POSSIBLE ROLLOVER. I WAS UNABLE TO SEE ANY WARNING LIGHTS (HILL ASSIST, ABS WARNING, ETC) AS EVERYTHING HAPPENED VERY FAST. I CURRENTLY HAVE A ACCIDENT CLAIM IN WITH MY INSURANCE AND THE JEEP DID SUSTAIN DAMAGE TO THE DRIVER FRONT TIRE. I WILL NOT KNOW THE RESULTS UNTIL TOMORROW OR THE NEXT DAY BUT FROM THE INITIAL LOOK, IT APPEARS THAT MY POWER STEERING FUILD IS LEAKING OUT AND ONTO MY AXLE AND ROTOR. AT THIS TIME IT IS UNCLEAR IF THIS ISSUE WAS CAUSED BEFORE OR AFTER THE IMPACT INTO THE RIVER BANK. AFTER THE TOLL TRUCK PULLED ME OUT I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE BACK HOME HOWEVER I WAS HEARING A FLIPPING NOISE COMING FROM MY DRIVER FRONT TIRE. I AM NOW VERY UNCOMFORTABLE WITH DRIVING THIS VEHICLE, AS THIS INCIDENT COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS BODILY HARM. MY RENEGADE HAS REPEATEDLY STALLED OUT WHILE DRIVING. UNFORTUNATELY THIS LAST TIME RESULTED IN A MINOR ACCIDENT. THE JEEP HAS LESS 16K MILES ON IT. I HAVE NOTIFIED FCA BUT UNTIL IT IS RESOLVED I HAVE NO VEHICLE.*DT CONSUMER STATED HE HAD A VEHICLE CONTROL ISSUE WHILE MAKING A TURN ENGINE STALLED AND HIT A GUARDRAIL. VEHICLE HAD STALLED TWICE PREVIOUSLY AND 8 DAYS AFTER THE ACCIDENT. CONSUMER STATED MANUFACTURE AND DEALER WERE NOT CONTACTED.*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2017 JEEP RENEGADE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH IN THE FAST LANE DURING HEAVY RAIN, THE VEHICLE SKIDDED TO THE CENTER LANE AND STRUCK AN EIGHTEEN WHEELER. THE VEHICLE TURNED 360 DEGREES THREE TIMES, CRASHED INTO A CEMENT DIVIDER, AND STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE LANE FACING INCOMING TRAFFIC. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A PRIVATE IMPOUND LOT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND CASE NUMBER: [XXX] WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO SENT A THIRD PARTY COMPANY TO INVESTIGATE THE CRASH. THE THIRD PARTY COMPANY STATED THAT ANY RATE OF DECELERATION WOULD HINDER THE AIR BAGS FROM DEPLOYING. TTHE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP ON NEICE CAUSEING HER TO GO TOWARDS THE RIGHT SIDE, AND BACK TIRES LOCKED UP AND CAUSED HER TO SPIN.. EVENTUALLY GETTING HIT FROM BEHIND BY ANOTHER DRIVER! IT COULD HAVE KILLED HER, SHE COULDNT DO A THING WITH THE STEERING WHEEL AT ALL IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED ASAP SO OTHERS WONT BE HURT OR WORSE KILLED. SHE WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD TO AN APPT. I WAS TURNING INTO MY PARKING SPACE SLOWLY WITH THE BRAKE SLIGHTLY DEPRESSED. AS I PRESSED FURTHER ON THE BRAKE THE CAR ACCELERATED SUDDENLY. I PRESSED DOWN HARD ON THE BRAKES AND THE CAR DIDN'T SLOW DOWN AND SMACKED THE RETAINING WALL. THE DASHBOARD LIT UP WITH THE PARKING BRAKE (DID NOT PRESS) AND THE CAR WITH THE LIGHTNING BOLTS. I DON'T KNOW WHAT JUST HAPPENED.
