THE INSURANCE COMPANY NOTIFIED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE. ANOTHER DRIVER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE PREVIOUSLY ACCELERATED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE ROTATED NINETY DEGREES AS IT CROSSED THE TRAVEL LANES AND WENT OFF THE RIGHT SHOULDER FACING EASTBOUND AND BEGAN ROLLING. THE DRIVER WAS EJECTED AT THE RIGHT OF WAY FENCE. The contact owned a 2006 Toyota Avalon. The contact stated that while at a complete stop, the vehicle accelerated independently without warning. The contact heard an abnormal noise as he pressed on the brake pedal; the vehicle eventually came to a stop. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and resume normal driving operation. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer and was informed that a mechanical fault was found with the vehicle. The manufacturer was also informed of the failure and a complaint was filed. The contact continued to experience multiple failures after the vehicle was inspected. On the latest incident, the contact stated that he had entered a car wash on the left lane and attempted to enter the right lane by reversing the vehicle. Once the vehicle was placed into drive, the vehicle made an abnormal, squealing noise and independently accelerated without warning into a concrete wall. The airbags did not deploy upon impact. A police report was filed with Apex City, NC police department. The contact sought medical attention from his doctor for the soreness to his right hand and right knee. The contact had the vehicle initial towed to a dealer where it was deemed a total loss. The vehicle was then towed to an independent tow yard. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was 155,835

NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE HEAD AND NECK AND SUSTAINED BODILY SCRATCHES AND BRUISING, WHICH DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PLANNED TO INVESTIGATE THE CAUSE OF THE AIR BAG AND ACCELERATION FAILURES. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 10V017000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL) AND 09V388000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND A REPRESENTATIVE INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND NO MANUFACTURING DEFECTS WITHIN THE VEHICLE. THE INSURANCE COMPANY ASSUMED RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE REPAIRS. SHE EXPERIENCE SUDDEN ACCELERATION AND THE CAR WAS UNCONTROLLABLE AND CRASHED INTO THE BACK END OF A VAN IN FRONT OF HER THAT WAS STANDING STILL. IT CAUSED $9,000 DAMAGE TO HER CAR AND SHE WAS TAKEN TO MA HOSPITAL FOR INJURIES TO HER LEG AND KNEE. THE INJURY TO HER LEG CAUSED HER TO HAVE A OPERATION ON IT AND DAILY MEDICAL ATTENTION FOR OVER TWO MONTHS. NOW SHE HAS A KNEE PROBLEM THAT WILL REQUIRE A REPLACEMENT OPERATION IN THE NEAR FUTURE. WE TRIED TO TRADE IN OUR AVALON INTO A TOYOTA DEALER FOR A NEW AVALON AND THE DEALER SAID HE WOULD HAVE TO REDUCE THE TRADE VALUE $8,000 DUE TO THE CAR BEING WRECKED. WE HAVE HAD THE CAR INTO THE DEALER FOR ALL OF THE RECALLS FIXES BUT THE WIFE WILL NOT DRIVE IT BECAUSE THE FEAR OF ANOTHER SUDDEN ACCELERATION. *TR

THAT WHAT WE EXPERIENCED WAS BEYOND NORMAL THEY SUGGESTED WE SHOULD COMPLAIN TO TOYOTA, WE CONTACTED TOYOTA AND COMPLAINED ASKED THEM TO INVESTIGATE THIS OCCURRENCE AND WERE ASSURED THAT THEY WILL CHECK THE WRECKED CAR. STATE FARM INSURANCE RECEIVED MY PERMISSION TO RELEASE THE CAR ,AND DOCUMENTED THE DATE OF COMMUNICATION AND THE PERSON AT TOYOTA IN CHARGE OF THIS INVESTIGATION BUT TOYOTA IS PLAYING GAMES OR WOULD NOT RETURN OUR CALLS. THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE ALL THE NEWS REPORTS ABOUT CARPETS AND RECALLS. THE IRONY IS WE WENT AHEAD AND BOUGHT A 2009 TOYOTA AVALON THAT IS HOW MUCH WE TRUSTED THIS COMPANY.
