TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2008 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HER SON WAS DRIVING AND HIS COUSIN IN THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT AT 78 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HER SON WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE, LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, HIT A FIRE HYDRANT AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. IT WAS UNKNOWN THE ORIGIN OF THE FIRE. THE DRIVER WAS INJURED WHICH RESULTED WITH LACERATION ON THE ANTERIOR RIGHT SIDE, THERE WERE BILATERAL WRIST FRACTURE, FRACTURE TO THE RIGHT FEMUR AND LEFT KNEE. THERE WAS AN AORTIC LACERATION AND MULTIPLE BILATERAL LUNG LACERATIONS AND CARDIAC CONTUSIONS, AUTOPSY ALSO REVELED FIRST TO FORTH DEGREE FIRMS BURNS WITH CHARRING ON APPROXIMATELY 70% OF THE BODY SURFACE AREA, THERE WERE THERMAL FRACTURES TO THE SKULL AND BOTH THE HANDS. THE DRIVER WAS REPORTED DEAD AT THE SCENE AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED A HEAD INJURY THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER WAS TRAVELING 55 MPH AND DROVE OVER A POT HOLE WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED, CAUSING THE DRIVER TO CRASH INTO A TREE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE FORCE OF THE IMPACT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO EXPLODE, CAUSING FATAL INJURIES TO A PASSENGER. THE DRIVER WAS REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE WITHIN SECONDS OF THE EXPLOSION HOWEVER, THE PASSENGER COULD NOT BE RESCUED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DRIVER WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT OF SEVERE BRUISING, LACERATIONS AND FRACTURES TO BOTH LEGS. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V047000 ( AIR BAGS , ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND STATED THAT THE RECALL NOTIFICATION WAS NOT RECEIVED UNTIL AFTER THE INCIDENT. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

WHILE THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, A TOW TRUCK IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPPED AND CAUSED HER HUSBAND TO SUDDENLY STOP AS WELL. THE VEHICLE BEHIND THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND DID NOT STOP AND CRASHED INTO THEIR VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND CRASH INTO THE REAR OF THE TOW TRUCK. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DEEMED TOTALED. THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND WAS FATALLY INJURED, BUT WAS REVIVED AND RECEIVED MEDICAL ATTENTION; HOWEVER, HE DID NOT SURVIVE DUE TO THE EXTENT OF HIS INJURIES. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO IN THE VEHICLE AND RECEIVED INJURIES TO THE FACE, BACK, ARMS, LEGS, AND CHEST AREA, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. *LN

THE AIR BAGS PARTIALLY DEPLOYED AND DID NOT FUNCTION AS DESIGNED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED LIVER INJURIES. THE PASSENGER WAS TAKEN TO HIS RESIDENCE WHERE HE LATER SUCCUMBED TO FATAL INJURIES. THE PASSENGER WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE CAUSE OF DEATH WAS DUE TO BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA TO THE CHEST AND INTERNAL BLEEDING. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

THE CONSUMER AND HIS GIRLFRIEND WERE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND CONSUMER ASSERTS THAT THERE WERE MECHANICAL DEFECTS *TGW THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE DEFECT WAS IN THE POWER STEERING MOTOR AND AIR BAGS. THE CONSUMER CRASHED INTO A TELEPHONE POLE AND WAS CHARGED WITH VEHICULAR MANSLAUGHTER. THE CONSUMERS GIRLFRIEND OWNED THE VEHICLE AND WAS KILLED. *JB
MY SON WAS IN A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT. IT WAS A SINGLE CAR ACCIDENT IN WHICH HE LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR, WENT OFF THE ROAD, HIT A TREE STUMP AND THEN THE CAR WAS SPUN SIDES, ROLLED ONTO IT'S SIDE AND INTO A TREE. NONE OF HIS AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. HE WAS KILLED IN THE CAR ACCIDENT WHILE 3 OTHER KIDS WALKED AWAY. HE WAS THE DRIVER AND THE CAR WAS HIT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. *TR
IGNITION 2008 CHEVROLET COBALT. DECEMBER 21,2008 CHANGED MY LIFE FOREVER. DRIVER WAS KILLED IN A ONE CAR CRASH, WHERE HER AND HER CAR WERE THRU TO THE STREET BELOW ON 6-35 AND HIGH DR. THE CAR WENT AIRBORNE SHE WAS THROWN OUT THE CAR BUT WAS SAVED ENOUGH TO BE TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL WHERE SHE LATER DIED. THE CAR WAS NOT SO LUCKY IT LANDED AND ROLLED TO A STOP AT THE BOTTOM OF THE BRIDGE, IN WHICH THE CAR WAS SCATTER IN MANY PIECES. THERE WAS PHYSICAL NOT MUCH LEFT OF THE CAR. THE CAR WOULD HAVE BEEN GOING THE SPEED LIMIT IT WOULD HAVE BY PASSED THE OPENING AND LANDED ON THE OTHER SIDE BUT BECAUSE IT WAS SLOW GOING IT RESULTED IN HER DEATH. THERE WAS A REENACTMENT DONE BUT THE FINDING WERE IN CONCLUSIVE ON HOW SHE DIED. SHE LOST CONTROL AFTER GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY. I CHECKED FOR RECALL ON HER 2008 COBALT AND THERE WERE NONE AT THE TIME OF HER DEATH. HER OLDER SISTER WANT TO KNOW IF THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A RESULT OF THE POWER STEERING PROBLEM. I STARTED LOOKING FOR RECALL RIGHT AFTER HER DEATH AND DID NOT FIND ANY AND DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO BUT NOW THIS NATIONAL RECALLS FOR THE TOYOTA THEN THE VOLUNTARY RECALL DONE WITH GM RECENTLY OPENED OUR EYES THAT THIS YOUNG WOMAN DEATH COULD BE THE RESULT OF FAULTY CAR. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT IS NEED TO BE DONE TO FILE THIS COMPLAINT. WE HAVE SUFFERED A GREAT LOSS. SHE WAS A GOOD DRIVE AND THE CONCLUSION THAT HAS BEEN MADE HAS BEEN NONE. WE JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. THIS WAS REPORT SEVERAL TIME BACK IN 3/ 2010 AND 6/10 AS COMPLAINT WITH THE STEERING .... I HAVE CONTACT GM AS OF RECENTLY BECAUSE RECALLS AND HER CALL WAS ONE OF THE PARTS THAT WAS IN THAT RECENT IGNITION ISSUES. THERE WERE NOT SKID MARK WITH THE REENACTMENT DONE THERE WAS NO REASON WHY HER CALL DID NOT SHOW BRAKE OR SKIDS. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE PART OF THE RECALL COVER UP MY GM!!!!! *TR

SHE LOST CONTROL OF HER CAR ON 6-35 NORTH IN KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI. THERE WAS A REINACTMENT OF THE WRECK BUT IT WAS INCLUSIVE. I CHANGE LINES TO GET OFF AT RIDGE ROAD,WHEN WE HIT BLACK ICE,THE STEERING ON THE CAR WOULD NOT LET ME TURN LEFT/RIGHT IT SEEMED LOCK IN PLACE. WE (MYSELF/WIFE) HIT A SUV THEN ANOTHER SUV,RESULT WAS TOTAL LOSS OF THE COBALT. MY WIFE WAS PINNED UNDER THE DASH AND I FRACTURED/DISLOCATED MY HIP 3 DAYS IN THE HOSPITAL, WE BOTH HAD SEAT BELTS ON. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT'S SISTER RENTED A 2008 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE DRIVER WAS DRIVING AT APPROX 55 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE VEERED OFF THE ROAD INTO THE OPPOSITE LANE WHERE IT WAS STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE DRIVER WAS KILLED AS A RESULT OF THE CRASH. THE NORTH CAROLINA HIGHWAY PATROL INSPECTED THE VEHICLE BUT COULD NOT FIND A CAUSE FOR THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT SAW REPORTS OF FAILED POWER STEERING IN NEWS REPORTS AND THOUGHT THAT THE EXPLANATION COULD HAVE BEEN A LOSS OF POWER STEERING. THE CONTACT NEVER SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER OR THE DEALER ABOUT THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AS A RESULT OF THE CRASH. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 9,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET COBALT. WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 19-25 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE PRECEDING VEHICLE, WHICH CAUSED A THREE VEHICLE CRASH. UPON IMPACT, A FIRE ERUPTED UNDERNEATH THE HOOD AND THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS WERE CALLED TO THE SCENE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. A REPORT WAS FILED. THE ORIGIN OF THE FIRE WAS UNKNOWN. WITHIN MINUTES, THE FIRE QUICKLY ENGULFED THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. I was driving alone paying attention in daylight and suddenly I was knocked/startled and vision blocked and I was saying out loud oh God what is going on-what is happeningy/I was trying to figure out where I was - next I heard my car crunching-and still going to where I exited right side of road and turned on drivers side and slid across 2 lane road-hitting a raiseded bed of 2b 3b gravel and turned back up on 4 wheels. The slanted hill next to a small ditch-about5 ft approximately off road. This all happened very quickly. There was no crash until after I was hit by airbag. Severely crashed passenger side windshield shattered/no airbag went off. Police and by standers assuming zi lost control and could see where I was headed. I never mentioned to police how I felt airbag went off. I knew their theory didn't match what I felt happened but after going back to scene my scenario from my memory is the only one I can verify. Not sure now what happens to vehicle now after I get my check today. I wasn't sure where to report. I did mention in text to adjuster but it is my understanding adjuster didn't get text ?? This just needed to be noted.

AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE VEERED INTO THE LEFT LANE, FLIPPED OVER, ROLLED FIVE TIMES, AND CRASHED INTO THE SHOULDER SPACING. THE CONTACT WAS EJECTED FROM THE VEHICLE AND LOST CONSCIOUSNESS. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, BUT THE CONTACT HAD NO RECOLLECTION OF THE DEPLOYMENT. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BRUISES, HEADACHES, BACK AND NECK PAIN, AND MUSCLE SPASMS. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS RECEIVED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT'S INSURANCE COMPANY DEEMED THE VEHICLE TOTALED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM THE SCENE. THE CAUSE OF THE STEERING FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
