THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED 10/29/2004 AROUND 7:00 PM. MY HUSBAND, WAS TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY 27 NORTH COMING HOME FROM VICKSBURG, MS. THE ACCIDENT REPORT CLAIMED HE LOST CONTROL OF THE 2002 CHEVROLET TRAIL BLAZER HE WAS DRIVING AND CROSSED INTO THE OTHER LANE. HE WAS HIT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE BY THE VEHICLE IN THE SOUTH BOUND LANE. THE ACCIDENT REPORT USED THE PHRASE "T BONED" IN DESCRIBING THE IMPACT OF THE VEHICLES. MY HUSBAND'S VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE ALMOST IMMEDIATELY ON IMPACT AND HE COULDN'T BE SAVED ACCORDING TO THE WITNESSES. *JB

THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON CRASH INTO A TELEPHONE POLE AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER WAS INJURED AND THE DRIVER STRUCK THE STEERING WHEEL AND DIED AT THE HOSPITAL FROM INTERNAL INJURIES. WE ARE TRYING TO DETERMINE WHY THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE PASSENGER WAS NOT WEARING A SEAT BELT AND IT ALSO APPEARS THAT THE DECEASED DRIVER WAS NOT WEARING A SEAT BELT.

I DRIVE A 2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER 4WD AND MY SON WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON HALLOWEEN NIGHT. HE WAS DRIVING THE SPEED LIMIT OF 30 MPH AND SWERVED TO AVOID A POSSUM IN THE ROAD, HE OVERCORRECTED AND LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR CAUSING THE CAR TO COLIDE WITH A TREE AT THE FRONT PANEL AND DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. UPON IMPACT THE AIR BAG DID NOT INFLATE AND THE CAR IMMEDIATELY CAUGHT FIRE. LUCKILY MY SON WAS ABLE TO CRAWL OUT THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW BUT THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A TERRIBLE SITUATION. WE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY THE AIRBAG DID NOT INFLATE AND WHY THE CAR WOULD HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE WITH A DRIVER'S SIDE IMPACT?

ON ANOTHER OCCASION, WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO CHANGE LANES AND ANOTHER VEHICLE ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A U-TURN RESULTING IN THE CONTACT CRASHING INTO THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE HOOD CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED BY AN INDIVIDUAL. A POLICE AND A FIRE REPORT WERE FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 148,000.

I WAS COMING TO A STOP LIGHT MY BRAKES DID NOT WANT TO WORK , THEN THEY DID. I STOPPED MY VEHICLE, MY LIGHTS IN MY DASH WENT OUT WITHIN A FEW SECONDS SMOKE STARTED TO ROLL FROM UNDER MY HOOD AND COVER MY WINDSHIELD. I IMMEDIATELY GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE, AND CALLED 911. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT RUNNING AT THIS TIME, IT STOPPED RUNNING. A BYSTANDER STOPPED TO ASSIST, HE LOOKED FROM THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE VIEW AND STATED HE SEEN FLAMES THAT APPEARED TO BE BLUE. HE WANTED TO LIFT THE HOOD BUT I ADVISED HIM NOT TO DO SO, DUE TO MY JOB TRAINING I KNEW OXYGEN PROMOTES FIRE. WE GOT AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE, SAINT ALBANS FIRE ARRIVED ON SCENE, THE FLAMES WERE OUT BY THE TIME THEY ARRIVED, THE CAR CONTINUES TO SMOKE. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED TO A LOT, THE KEY WAS PUT IN THE IGNITION BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT THE DASH LIGHTS DID NOT WORK EVEN WITH JUST TURNING THE BATTERY ON. TRIPLE H TOWING, TOWED THE VEHICLE TO DAVIS SMITH'S AUTO BODY. GEICO IS MY INSURER, I HAD FULL COVERAGE HOWEVER THEY WILL NOT COVER STATING IT WAS MECHANICAL FAILURE. I HAVE NO WITHOUT A VEHICLE, AND NO INSURANCE FUNDS TO REPLACE THE VEHICLE. I HAVE READ ONLINE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE, I JUST DO NOT WANT ANYONE TO GET HURT IN A VEHICLE FIRE. WHILE DRIVING AT FREEWAY SPEED, 65-70 MPH, A GRINDING, RATCHETING SOUND WAS HEARD FROM THE DRIVETRAIN AND THE LIGHTS ON THE TRANSFER CASE SWITCH MOVED BACK AND FORTH FROM 2WD TO 4HI AND 4LOW. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, THEY FIRST COMPLETED THE RECALL #01065 TO REPROGRAM THE TRANSFER CASE. WHEN THEY ROAD TESTED THE CAR THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE EARLIER COMPLAINT OF GRINDING METAL. THE SERVICE ADVISOR INDICATED THAT THE RECALL PROBABLY CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. MY QUESTION IS, WHAT DID ALL THAT METAL GRINDING NOISE DO TO THE LONGEVITY OF THE TRANSFER CASE, AND WHAT IF IT FAILS AFTER THE 3 YEAR, 36 MONTH WARRANTY?

I was driving on the highway going 65mph which is the legal speed limit. I got cut off by a driver and light tapped my brakes to slow the vehicle down. When I did so the vehicle then swerved to the left and started drifting sideways directly to a wall. I went head on with the wall. Then I bounced back across all lanes of traffic again still sideways and drifting hitting another wall. Which is where the vehicle ended at the stopping point of the accident. No airbags deployed in the accident. The driver behind me who witness the crash stated that the vehicle started to loose traction before I hit my brakes and me hitting my brakes caused the vehicle to them loose full control. I was in the process of buying this vehicle from Gresham Ford in Oregon. I was told the vehicle was 100% road safe and passed safety inspections. Which is false.

THE DRIVER'S FACE WAS BRUISED AND A CAT SCAN WAS PERFORMED TO DETERMINE IF THERE WERE ANY BROKEN BONES, BUT THE TESTS WERE NEGATIVE. THE DRIVER ALSO TWISTED HER ANKLE AND THERE WAS A LITTLE BIT OF SWELLING ON HER KNEE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WANTED TO VISIT THE CONTACT'S HOME TO EXAMINE THE VEHICLE AND FIND OUT WHY THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW BUT CHECKED AND SAID THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WAS FUNCTIONING? I SEE MANY SUCH "STORIES" ABOUT TRAILBLAZER AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOYING ON THIS SITE. IT REALLY BE NICE TO SEE SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS SITUATION. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN SEVERAL WRECKS AND THE AIRBAGS HAVE NEVER DEPLOYED!!!!! NOTE, I HAVE WRITTEN TO CHEVROLET/GM ABOUT THIS ISSUE BUT DON'T REALLY EXPECT THEM TO RESPOND!
