CONSUMER'S BROTHER WAS DRIVING 55-70 MPH ON STATE HWY 72 WHEN STEERING MADE A FULL CIRCLE THEN A CLICKING NOISE, THE PASSENGER SAID THAT THEY THEN REALIZED THAT STEERING WHEEL HAD LOCKED UP FOLLOWING LOSS OF CONTROL. THE TRUCK THEN FLIPPED OVER BACK END OVER FRONT THEN ROLLED OVER ON SIDE, LOOSING BOTH LEFT WHEELS, BRAKES/DRUMS/PADS AND TIRES. THE DRIVER WAS THROWN FROM TRUCK AFTER THE 2ND FLIP FORWARD, HE WAS REVIVED ON SCENE, THEN LATER DIED IN FLIGHT TO HOSPITAL. PASSENGER SURVIVED WITH MINOR UPPER BODY INJURIES. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE LOCKED UP, AND CONSUMER LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE, CAUSING A MAJOR CRASH, WHICH RESULTED IN VEHICLE TOTALED, AND 1 FATALITY. NO ONE DETERMINED THE CAUSE OF THE CRASH.*AK
TRUCK STARTED WITH NO KEY-JUMPED A BARRIER-RAMMED A BUILDING-CAUGHT ON FIRE;
THE TIRE, RIM, BRAKE DRUM AND AXLE SHAFT SEPARATED FROM THE AXLE HOUSING. THE ASSEMBLY WEDGED UNDER VEHICLE. WHEN IT POPPED OUT, IT FLEW UP AND LANDED DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. WHEN THE ASSEMBLY SEPARATED, APPARENTLY THE OTHER (REMAINING) DRIVE WHEEL BECAME DISCONNECTED FROM THE ENGINE; OUR EXHAUST BRAKE COULD NOT SLOW US DOWN. ADDITIONALLY, THE BRAKES WERE SPONGY, AND APPARENTLY NOT WORKING. WE SLID TO A STOP ON WHAT REMAINED OF THE AXLE HOUSING. WHEN WE EXITED THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS A FLAME SHOOTING FROM THE END OF THE AXLE HOUSING, WHERE THE AXLE SHAFT WOULD NORMALLY BE. THIS FLAME WAS APPROX. 1.5-2 FEET FROM THE FUEL FILLER TUBE. IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT, THERE WAS A VERY LOUD SCREETCH SOUND. WITHIN A MINUTE, THE WHEEL ASSEMBLY CAME APART. AFTER REPAIRS WERE MADE, THE SAME AXLE PROBLEMS REAPPEARED.
WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH AN ACCIDENT OCCURRED, CONSUMER'S VEHICLE HIT A TREE HEAD ON. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. CONTACTED THE DEALER, AND WAS TOLD THIS WAS NORMAL, AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. *AK... THE OTHER DRIVER, A LADY WAS CITED FOR IMPROPER BACKING OUT. CONSUMER'S GRAND SON FIRST HIT HER, THEN WENT THROUGH A YARD, HITTING A TREE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE RIGHT REAR TIRE RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH IN WHICH 1 PERSON WAS INJURED.(GOODYEAR P245/75R16). *MR *NLM
CONSUMER STATES ENGINE STALLED WHILE TRAVELING DOWN A MOUNTAIN, CONSUMER LOST ALL CONTROL OF VEHICLE AND WENT OFF A 300 FT REVENE, VEHICLE FINALLY STOPPED AFTER STRIKING A TREE HEAD ON, AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY, CONSUMER SUSTAINED INJURIES, A MONTH AFTER PURCHASING VEHICLE, RECALL REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED ON VEHICLE REGARDING BLOWER AND IGNTION, CONSUMER WAS LATER INFORMED OF ADDITIONAL RECALLS THAT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED ON VEHICLE, HOWEVER CONSUMER WAS NEVER GIVEN ANY SPECIFIC DETAILS ABOUT WHAT WAS REPAIRED/REPLACED. *JB
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION AT 55MPH. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, RESULTING IN MINOR INJURIES. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. *AK
WHEN APPLYING BRAKES IN A PANIC STOP THEY LOCKED UP, RESULTING IN A COLLISION WHICH CAUSED MINOR INJURIES. *AK
VEHICLE WAS REARENDED. UPON IMPACT DRIVER'S SEATBACK COLLAPSED INTO REAR SEAT, RESULTING IN MINOR INJURY. MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED, AND WILL LOOK INTO THE MATTER.*AK
CONSUMER TOTALED VEHICLE BY HITTING A TREE HEAD ON, CONSUMER SUSTAINED INJURIES DUE TO THE AIRBAGS EXPERIENCING NO DEPLOYMENT, CONSUMER INJURED LOWER BACK AND KNEES AND IS STILL RECOVERING. *SLC
CONSUMER HAD A HEAD-ON COLLISION WITH A POLE AND AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. AUTOMOBILE ENDED UP IN A "V" SHAPE. CONSUMER WAS SORE, BUT HAD NO MAJOR INJURIES.*AK
PE00 020; CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 50MPH ON HIGHWAY AND LOST CONTROL. VEHICLE VEERED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE DUE TO REAR TIRE TREAD HAVING SEPARATED. FIRESTONE,#STEELTEX, #LT235/85R16. VEHICLE WAS ON AN INCLINE AND PARKING BRAKE RELEASED, RESULTING IN VEHICLE COLLIDING INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. DEALER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, CAUSING A CRASH. SUDDEN ACCELERATION PROBLEM HAPPENED ONCE BEFORE. DEALER COULD NOT DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. *AK BRAKE FAILED. *YD
FRONT IMPACT AND AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY
I REAR ENDED ANOTHER PICKUP TRUCK AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH. THERE WAS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE NOSE AND POSSIBLE FRAME DAMAGE ALSO. THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. ALTHOUGH I WAS WEARING THE SEATBELT, MY HEAD STILL MADE CONTACT WITH THE STEERING WHEEL. A FELLOW FIREFIGHTER IN TOWN HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIANCE, IN THAT HE HIT AN AUTO AT SPEED, AND HIS AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY EITHER. IS THIS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE NEW STYLE DODGE PICKUPS?
CHRYSLER CUSTOMER RELATIONS WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY UPON A FRONTAL IMPACT AND AGREED TO SEND A SPECIAL INVESTIGATIONS CREW TO LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. THERE CONCLUSION WAS THAT THE IMPACT WAS NOT IN THE DIRECT CENTER OF THE VEHICLE AND THAT THE AIR BAG SYSTEM STILL SHOWED TO BE FUNCTIONAL AND READY. NONE OF THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE SEEN THIS VEHICLE COULD BELIEVE THAT THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY, ESPECIALLY WITH THE DAMAGED INCURRED! THIS INCLUDES THE INSURANCE CLAIMS ADJUSTER AND THE BODY SHOP WHO REPAIRED THE VEHICLE ! IN MY OPINION THIS IS FALSE ADVERTISEMENT BY THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER THAT STATES THE AIR BAG WILL DEPLOY IN A FRONTAL IMPACT OVER 20 MPH. IT DOESNT STATE THAT THE IMPACT HAS TO BE DEAD CENTER OF THE VEHICLE !
WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT ANOTHER VEHICLE HIT THE CONSUMER FROM BEHIND THE SEAT BELTS DISCONNECTED FROM THE ANCHORS, CAUSING INJURY TO THE CONSUMER AND CHILDREN. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
WHEN VEHICLE WAS PUT IN DRIVE IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, CAUSING A COLLISION, RESULTING IN MINOR INJURIES TO DRIVER. DEALER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
