PLEASE CONTACT RANDY VANCE (SURVIVING SON) AT LISTED ADDRESS. CONCERN IF EXISTING RECALLS OR OTHER MANUFACTURER'S DEFECTS WERE CONTRIBUTING FACTORS TO THE FATAL AUTO ACCIDENT. TRUCK FAILED TO SLOW AND NEGOTIATE A LEFT HAND TURN. TRUCK WENT DOWN AN EMBANKMENT. BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUFFERED FATAL INJURIES.*AK
DT: THE AIR BAGS ON THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES DID NOT DEPLOY. THIS HAPPENED ON SEPTEMBER 28, 2005. CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, THERE WAS NO FOREWARNING , AND THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT WAS NOT ON PRIOR TO THE CRASH. THIS WAS A FRONTAL IMPACT, IT TOTALED BOTH VEHICLES INVOLVED. *AK
DT: ON AUGUST 30, 2005 THE CALLER'S HUSBAND WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHILE TRAVELING 25 MPH. UPON IMPACT, THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CALLER'S VEHICLE HIT A SCHOOL BUS. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THE AIR BAG WOULD NOT DEPLOY. CALLER'S HUSBAND WAS INJURED. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. CALLER SAID A WEEK BEFORE THE WRECK SHE HAD THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALER FOR BRAKES, SHE SAID THE BRAKES LOCKED AND THE TIRES MADE A SCREECHING SOUND. SHE DID NOT KNOW IF THE BRAKES AND THE ACCIDENT WERE CONNECTED.*AK THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS ANOTHER ACCIDENT PRIOR IN WHICH THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *JB
THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS CAUSED CONSUMER'S VEHICLE TO REAR END A TRACTOR TRAILER, LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND FLIPPED TWICE , LANDING ON THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. UPON IMPACT, BOTH AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER SUSTAINED HEAD AND BACK INJURIES, AND WAS TRANSPORTED BY AMBULANCE TO A HOSPITAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH DRIVER FELL ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL AND HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT WAS PARKED ON THE SIDE OF THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. UPON IMPACT, BOTH AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT SNAPPED IN HALF. DRIVER SUSTAINED HEAD INJURIES AND WAS TRANSPORTED BY AMBULANCE TO A HOSPITAL. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH VEHICLE IMPACTED A BRICK WALL. UPON IMPACT, NEITHER THE DRIVER'S SIDE NOR THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. DRIVER SUSTAINED SERIOUS BODILY INJURIES.*AK
WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS HIT ON N THE FRONT CENTER OF DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY.AS A RESULT, THE CONSUMER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *AK

I SENT AN EMAIL TO GLEN HARTZEIM OF HARTZEIM DODGE ON 9/30/02 STATING WHAT HAPPENED AND IF HE COULD DIRECT ME ON WHAT COURSE OF ACTION TO TAKE. MR
CONSUMER STATES FRAME OF VEHICLE IS BROKEN, AND FRONT END OF VEHICLE IS SMASHED. NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED.*AK THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY ON IMPACT CAUSING DRIVER TO HIT WINDSHIELD AND WAS INJURED. *YH
WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH AND WITHOUT WARNING, A HEAD-ON COLLISION OCCURRED. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.*AK CONSUMER STATES THAT THE ACCELERATOR STUCK, CAUSING VEHICLE TO REV TO 6000 RPMS, VEHICLE HIT AN EMBANKMENT AND TORE DOWN A FENCE, THE LEFT REAR SEATBELT DID NOT HOLD ONE OF THE PASSENGERS, CAUSING INJURIES, DEALER STATED THE FAILURE WAS THE COMPUTER, THE MANUFACTURER STATED THE PROBLEM WAS THE FLOORMAT, CONSUMER STATES VEHICLES RPMS STILL FLUCTUATE TOO MUCH. *SLC
DODGE RAM 1500 SERIES.THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT COLLISION AT 25-35 MPH. UPON IMPACT NEITHER AIR BAG DEPLOYED CAUSING THE PASSENGER TO HIT HEAD ON THE DASH. DAMAGE TO VEHICLE UNKNOWN AT THIS TIME. NLM
WHILE DRIVING 40MPH IN WET CONDITIONS, CONSUMER HIT A TRAILER WHICH WAS BEING PULLED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE AND AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. *AKTHERE WAS ONE INJURY.*JB
EDGE OF THE HWY GAVE WAY, FORCING THE VEHICLE INTO A BRICK WALL, NEITHER AIRBAG DEPLOYED, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE LEFT RIBS FROM IMPACT WITH THE STEERING WHEEL.
WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, AT ANYTIME THE STEERING WOULD BECOME INOPERABLE. ON THE FIRST 3 INCEDENTS A HARD JERK OF THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD BREAK IT FREE FROM ITS EXTREMELY TIGHT CONDITION. THE TRUCK WOULD ONCE AGAIN RETURN TO NORMAL AS IF THERE WAS NEVER A PROBLEM. AFTER THE FIRST INCEDENT I GAVE THE TRUCK'S STEERING SYSTEM A THOROUGH CHECK. NOTHING SEEMED WRONG OR OUT OF PLACE.I TRIED TO CONTACT MY LOCAL DODGE DEALER HOWEVER THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS NOT OPEN ON SATURDAYS. SINCE THE TRUCK NOW SEEMED FINE I ATTEMPTED TO GO TO MY HOUSE IN IT. I DROVE 40-50 MILES TOWARD MY HOME WITHOUT A PROBLEM. WITHIN 6 MILES OF HOME IT OCCURED AGAIN, JUST AS IT DID THE FIRST TIME ONCE AGAIN A HARD JERK FREED THE WHEEL. ANOTHER CHECK OF THE STEERING SYSTEM REVEALED NOTHING, EVERYTHING APPEARED TO BE FINE. 1.5 MILES LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN, I REPEATED THE SAME PROCESS AGAIN. AT THIS TIME I DECIDED TO SLOW DOWN MY SPEEDS TO 35-40MPH TO HELP AVOID DANGER JUST TO MAKE IT HOME AND MONDAY I WOULD CONTACT THE LOCAL DODGE DEALER AND HAVE IT TOWED BACK TO TOWN. HOWEVER, UPON APPROACHING THE NEXT BEND IN THE ROAD I WAS UNABLE TO NEGOTIATE THE CURVE RESULTING IN A COLLISION WITH A CLUSTER OF TREES. I SUFFERED ONLY MINOR INJURIES COMMON IN THAT TYPE OF ACCIDENT. SINCE THEN I CONTACTED CHRYSLER MAKING A FORMAL COMPLAINT, RESULTING IN A INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATOR LOOKING AT MY TRUCK. I STRESS LOOKING AT IT BECAUSE THAT IS ALL HE DID BESIDES TAKING PICTURES OF IT. HE NEVER REMOVED ANY COMPONENT. I RECEIVE A LETTER FROM CHRYSLER STATEING THAT AFTER A THOROUGH INVESTIGATION THEY CONCLUDED THERE WAS NO MANUFACTERING FLAW OF ANY KIND. MY INSURANCE COMPANY IS DOING NEXT TO NOTHING TO HELP ME IN THIS MATTER. AS OF TODAY (12-6-01) THE TRUCK IS STILL IN ITS WRECKED CONDITION AT A LOCAL BODY SHOP. THE TRUCK SHOULD BE TOTALLED BUT THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER WANTS TO FIX IT DESPITE A $22,000 ESTIMATE FROM A CHRYSLER COLLISION CENTER. *AK

IN A HEAD-ON COLLISION, THE AIR-BAG DID NOT DEPLOY FOR THE DRIVER. DODGE INSPECTED AND CLAIMED THAT THE COLLISION WAS SLIGHTLY OR NOT PERFECTLY STRAIGHT-ON (DAMAGE IS ACROSS ENTIRE FRONT AND PASSENGER HAD TO BE PRIED-OUT OF THE VEHICLE). THE AUTO CLUB DECLARED THE VEHICLE A TOTAL LOSS. OWNER BELIEVES AIR-BAGS SHOULD HAVE WORKED. A SECOND OPINION, OTHER THAN BY THE MFG. IS DESIRED. WIFE OF DRIVER BELIEVES SHE HEARD A RECALL ON THE NEWS FOR STEERING ON DODGE TRUCKS HAVING TO DO WITH AIRBAGS BUT CANNOT FIND IT IN WRITING. PLEASE ADVISE.*AK
CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT, HITTING A DITCH WHEN DRIVING AT 30-32 MPH. DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT FAILED TO RESTRAIN DRIVER, SEAT BELT FAILED TO LOCK UP WHICH FORCED DRIVER OVER STEERING WHEEL. ON A 30 MPH FRONTAL CENTER CRASH AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY CAUSING BODLY INJURY,CHRYSLER INVESTIGATION #8126432 THE FOND OPEN SQUIB SYSTEM AT AIRBAG AND STATED THAT THE AIR BAG FAILURE WAS DO TO WIRES THAT RIPPED LOOSE WHEN STEERING COLUMN COLLAPSED. *AK
