AT 55 MPH TRUCK BECAME SLUGGISH/HARD TO STEER WHILE ROUNDING CURVE. STEERING SEEMED TO BE UNRESPONSIVE AND RESULTED IN HEAD ON COLLISION WHICH RESULTED IN 1 DEATH IN THE ONCOMING VEHICLE. MY TRUCK OVERTURNED UPON IMPACT, AND WAS TAKEN TO TRAUMA CENTER WITH CUTS/BRUISES AND HEAD WOUND.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD F-350. WHILE THE CONTACT'S FATHER WAS DRIVING 55 MPH, HE SWERVED TO AVOID STRIKING ANOTHER VEHICLE. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE DRIVER'S SIDE TIRES DID NOT STOP AND THE STEERING SEIZED. AS A RESULT, THE DRIVER STRUCK A TREE AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED INTO A DITCH. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT'S FATHER SUSTAINED BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA TO THE TORSO AND WAS FATALLY INJURED UPON IMPACT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
ON SUNDAY MORNING AT APPROXIMATELY 9:00 A.M. 2MILES WEST OF SANTA ROSA, NEW MEXICO THE RIGHT REAR TIRE BLEW OUT. WE WERE TOWING A 30 FOOT 5TH WHEEL RECREATIONAL VECHICLE AT ABOUT 70 MPH. DUE TO WHERE THIS HAPPENED, I HAD TO LEAVE THE ROADWAY TO KEEP FROM BEING RUN OVER BY 18 WHEELERS RUNNING 75+ MPH. SINCE I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE, I HAD TO GO IN THE CENTER MEDIAN. THIS AREA WAS EXTREMELY SLOPED AND WE WERE BARELY ABLE TO CLEAR THE ROADWAY WITH THE RIGH SIDE OF TRUCK AND TRAILER. NEW MEXICO STATE HIGHWAY PATROL WAS CONTACTED BUT NEVER SHOWED UP. IN ORDER TO CONTINUE TO A LOCATION TO FIND A REPLACEMENT TIRE. WE HAP TO BUY A USED TIRE FOR A SPARE. IN SANTA FE, NM WE LOCATED A FIRESTONE DEALER. HE REPLACED BOTH REAR TIRES WITH THE SAME MODEL TIRE BUT A DIFFERENT TREAD DESIGN. HE DID NOT MENTION THE THERE BEING A PROBLEM WITH THESE TIRES. AFTER RETURNING HOME AND GETTING MORE DETAILS AND THE CONCERN WITH SAFETY, WE BOUGHT REPLACE TIRES FROM ANOTHER MANUFACTOR. I FEEL FIRESTONE SHOULD HAVE NTIFIED ME OF THE POSSIBLE PROBLEM BEFORE THE INCIDENT. I AM OUT OVER $800 FOR FIVE REPLACEMENT TIRES PLUS THE $1500 DAMAGE TO MY TRUCK. THE FORD DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND FORD CALLED AND ASK A FEW QUESTIONS BUT NO FUTHER CONTACT. FIRESTONE HAS MADE NO CONTACT. *AK (DOT NUMBER: VNW81XM398 TIRESIZE: LT265/7516)
FORD DEALER REFUSES TO REPAIR OR REPLACE PROBLEM FOR SAFETY RECALL 99S32. *AK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD F-350. WHILE TRAVELING 70 MPH THE CONTACT NOTICED A LOUD POP SOUND COMING FROM OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE, SECONDS LATER, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE TIRE HAD SUDDENLY EXPLODED WITHOUT WARNING CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO A NEARBY GUARD RAIL. THE CONTACT SUFFERED A CONCUSSION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED FOR THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED AND THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WAS 50000.
WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH CONSUMER LOST POWER STEERING. THIS CAUSED A COLLISION. CONSUMER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER. *AK

CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD-ON COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 30-40 MPH.*AK ONE PERSON WAS INJURED IN ACCIDENT. *SLC
CONSUMER WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 20-25MPH, SLOWED DOWN WHEN A VEHICLE FROM OPPOSITE DIRECTION HIT CONSUMER'S VEHICLE HEAD-ON WITH A 40 MPH IMPACT, AND DUAL AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, CAUSING SEVERE INJURIES . BOTH VEHICLES WERE TOTALED.*AK
WHILE TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY, A CAR GOING IN OPPOSITE DIRECTION LOST CONTROL AND CROSSED IN FRONT OF CONSUMER'S VEHICLE. CONSUMER HIT OTHER VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. ALSO, BUMPER WAS TORN OFF FRAME. *AK *JB
I NEARLY DIED AS A RESULT OF A FRONT, PASSENGER TIRE THAT FAILED CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO LEAVE THE ROADWAY AFTER I TRIED TO CORRECT AFTER THE BLOWOUT. I STRUCK THE END OF AN IRRIGATION BRIDGE AND ROLLED MY TRUCK, BREAKING MY NECK, FRACTURING MY SKULL AND BEING HOSPITILIZED FOR SEVEN WEEKS. I HAD A PRIVATE ENGINEER WHO IS A CONSULTANT FOR GOODYEAR LOOK AT THE PHOTOGRAPHS OF MY TIRE AND GIVE A REPORT THAT IT WAS A FAILURE DUE TO RUNNING LOW ON AIR. I HAD MY TIRE PRESSURE CHECKED 1 DAY PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT AND HAVE PROOF OF THAT. I FOUND TWO PARTS OF THE TIRE AND THE WHEEL RECENTLY AND AS THE ENGINEER SAID I WOULD FIND MELT NYLON ON THE SIDEWALL, I DID FIND MELTED NYLON. ON OCTOBER 17, 1998 AFTER DRIVING ON A US MONTANA 300 MILES I HAD A FRONT PASSENGER TIRE BLOW OUT. THE LAST I RECALL WAS JERKING THE WHEEL AND WHEN I CORRECTED I STRUCK A SMALL IRRIGATION BRIDGE IN THE ON COMING LANE CAUSING MY TRUCK TO ROLL. THIS CAUSED ME TO FRACTURE MY SKULL, BREAK MY NECK, AND BE HOSPITILIZED FOR SEVEN WEEKS. I HAD AN ENGINEER, WHO IS A PRIVATE CONSULTANT FOR GOODYEAR, EXAMINE THE PHOTOGRAPHS OF MY TIRE AND SENT ME A REPORT SAYING THE TIRE FAILED DUE TO LW AIR PRESSURE. I HAD MY TIRE CHECKED BY A CERTIFIED FORD DEALERSHIP THE DAY PRIOR TO MY ACCIDENT AND I HAVE PROOF OF THAT. IF THIS TIRE IS THE FAULT OF GOODYEAR IT SHOULD BE RECALLED BEFORE OTHERS NEARLY DIE LIKE I DID. I HAVE TWO PEICES OF THE TIRE AND THE RIM IN MY POSSESSION. THE ENGINEER SAID IF I FOUND THE TIRE I MAY FIND MELTED NYLON ON THE SIDEWALL WHICH I DID FIND THE TIRE. IT DOES HAVE MELTED NYLON ON THE RUBBER AND IT IS A 360 DEGREE SEPERATION WITH THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE TIRE STILL ON THE RIM AND THE TREAD SECTION MISSING. *AK( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 235/85R16 )
WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH DRIVER REARENDED VEHICLE WITH FRONT. THEN BOUNCED OFF, HITTING A POLE WITH FRONT END. UPON IMPACT, DUAL AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, CAUSING INJURIES. NO INDICTATION OR WARNING OF AIRBAGS BEING DEFECTIVE. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING 30 MPH AND AS A RESULT OF AN HEAD-ON ACCIDENT, AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY, CAUSING INJURY TO CONSUMER. DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
FRONT LEFT TIRE HUB BROKE OFF CAUSING THE TRUCK TO HIT A BRIDGE, DRIVER SAYS THE TRUCK DROPPED DOWN AND THEN HIT THE BRIDGE, THE TIRE FELL OFF BEFORE IMPACT WITH THE BRIDGE, THIS ACCIDENT TOTALLED OUR TRUCK AND DID SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE BRIDGE. HAVE COMPALINED TO FORD, THEY WILL NOT REPLACE TRUCK, SAYS IT WAS OUR FAULT, BUT WE KNOW THE TIRE FELL OFF, THE INVESTIGATOR TOLD US THE NUT ON THE INSIDE BACKED OFF, CAUSING THE FRONT LEFT TIRE AND HUB TO BREAK OFF, AND IT WAS IN NOWAY OUR FAULT, IS A DEFECT IN THE TRUCK..
WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH DRIVER HIT A VEHICLE WITH FRONT END. UPON IMPACT, DRIVER'S AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY, CAUSING NECK INJURIES, EVEN WITH SEATBELTS WORN. PLEASEPROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 30MPH ON WASHBOARD ROAD WHEN VEHICLE WENT OFF SIDE OF ROAD. HIT SOME TREES & PUSHED FRONT BUMPER BACK 13-15 INCHES. DRIVER HIT HEAD ON WINDSHIELD. UPON IMPACT WITH TREES, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *AK
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION AT 45MPH, AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, RESULTING IN MINOR INJURIES. MANUFACTURER WILL BE NOTIFIED. *AK
MY NAME IS DIANNE MCCULLAR. ADDRESS IS 5223 SOLAR RIDGE DR. COLORADO SPRINGS, CO 80917. (719)574-2029 MY 1979 FORD BRONCO VIN#U15HLEJ5445 WAS HIT BY THE ABOVE MENTIONED TRUCK ON 05/23/99. THE OWNER LOST CONTROL OF HIS VEHICLE WHEN THE STEERING SHAFT/STEERING GEAR BOX SHEARED APART. MY TRUCK WAS PARKED AT THE TIME. $5100 OF DAMAGE WAS DONE TO MY TRUCK. TIG INSURANCE HAS DETERMINED THAT THE COLLISION WAS DUE TO A FORD PART THAT IS UNDER RECALL (#98S17). DUE TO THEM DETERMINING THAT THIS WAS CAUSED BY MECHANICAL DEFECT, TIG INSURANCE HAS DENIED MY CLAIM FOR DAMAGE TO MY TRUCK AND I AM HAVING TO PURSUE FORD DIRECTLY. I WAS INVOLVED IN A SERIOUS AUTO ACCIDENT ON 11/17/98. I TOPPED A HILL AND WAS STRUCK HEADON BY TRUCK DRIVING ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE BLOW WAS SERIOUS ENOUGH THAT IT BROKE TIE RODS AND SUSPENSION RODS ON MY TRUCK. I THEN WENT FURTHER DOWN THE ROAD AND DOWN A 20 FT EMBANKMENT, STRIKING A LARGE PINE TREE. THOUGH BOTH IMPACTS WERE ON THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK AND THE TRUCK WILL LIKELY BE TOTALED (1999 TRUCK), THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. CALLS TO THE DEALER AND TO FORD CONSUMER DEPARTMENT WERE IGNORED. I THINK THAT FORD HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE AIR BAGS ON THE NEW TRUCKS. I CHECKED MY STICKER AND IT INDICATED THAT AIR BAGS WERE PART OF THE EQUIPMENT.
