TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2005 FORD FREESTYLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, A TRACTOR TRAILER CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. ADDITIONALLY THE FOLLOWING DAY, WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH CRASHED INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE QUARTER PANEL OF A 2006 DODGE RAM. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE SHOULDER AND BACK AND MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS PROVIDED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WAS NO FIRE DUE TO THE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE CONTACT CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER WEBB FORD 9809 INDIANAPOLIS BLVD, HIGHLAND, IN 46322 (219) 924-3400. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE INSURANCE COMPANY DEEMED THE VEHICLE A TOTAL LOSS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO PROVIDED CASE NUMBER CAS-21715175 AND REFERRED TO THE LOCAL DEALER HOWEVER, NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 190,000.
I DROVE INTO A PARKING SPACE, SET FOR PARK. THE CAR JUST SHOT FORWARD AND HIT A WALL. THE ENGINE RIFFED LOUD, FOR A FEW SECOND. COULD NOT REDO THE BRAKES. THE WALL WAS ONLE ABOUT 8 TO 10 FEET FROM ME.THE CAR WAS NOT IN MOTION, BECAUSE I JUST PUT IT IN PARK. IT HAPPEN IN A PARKIONG LOT AT CBS PHARMACY. 1588 TRANCAS STREET, NAPA, CA 94558 ON MARCH 14 2016 AT 5:30 PM.THERE SHOULD BE A POLICE REPORT. I HAD TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL, TO CHECK MY BACK, BECAUSE I HAD JUST SURGERY 3 WEEKS BEFORE, FEBR. 22 2016. I NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL, AND I DO MY SERVICE AT FORD LINCOLN DEALER IN NAPA CA, SOSCOL AVN.I THINK THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ACCELERATOR OR ???MY RIGHT FRONT END IS DAMAGED.FILED CLAIM WITH THE INSURANCE. CAR STALLS DAILY THREE TIMES WHILE DRIVING, DEALER CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY STILL STALLS, ANOTHER DEALER CLEANED THE MAF AND CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS AND CHANGE CVT TRANSMISSION FLUID, STILL STALLING. NEED A NEW THROTTLE BODY IT IS A COMMON DEFECT WITH FORD AND VERY DANGEROUS SOME ONE WILL GET KILLED BECAUSE OF IT. MY CVT TRANSMISSION START TO SLIP AND NEEDS REPLACEMENT. *TR
WAS COMING UP TO A STOP LIGHT AND THE CAR STARTED TO ACCELERATE. WHEN I PUT ON BRAKES, IT ACCELERATED MORE. TO AVOID HITTING 3 CARS IN FRONT OF ME, I WENT OVER A CURB, UP A HILL AND OVER AND EMBANKMENT. THE CAR FINALLY STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF A SIDE STREET. THE IMPACT OF COMING OFF THE EMBANKMENT BLEW 2 TIRES AND TOTALED OUT THE BOTTOM OF MY CAR. THE INSURANCE COMPANY HAS TOTALED THE CAR. AS FAR AS THE SPEED OF THE CAR, I WAS DOING 35 UNTIL THE ACCELERATION FAILED AND WHEN I PUT ON THE BRAKES, IT WENT FASTER. I READ ON YOUR WEBSITE WHERE FORD WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH LUNGING AND THIS SOUNDS LIKE WHAT HAPPENED WITH MY CAR. ESPECIALLY WHEN I READ FROM OTHERS THAT HAVE POSTED THERE PROBLEMS WITH THIS. I DO BELIEVE THAT FORD NEEDS TO DO A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT BAD. I DID GO TO THE ER TO GET CHECKED OUT BUT BESIDES SEAT BELT BURN, I WAS FINE.
WHILE GOING ABOUT 75MPH ON INTERSTATE I459, MY FORD FREESTYLE SLOWED DOWN ACCORDING TO THE DRIVER BEHIND ME AND I WAS REAR ENDED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THIS MAY HAVE BEEN DUE TO TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS.
CRASH @ APPROXIMATELY 45 MILES PER HOUR. T-BONED A CAR THAT PULLED IN FRONT OF MY CAR AT A STOP LIGHT. MY CAR WAS TOTALED. MY AIR BAGS DID NOT GO OFF. I FEEL THAT MY INJURIES..OF WHIPLASH AND ANOTHER PASSENGERS WOULD HAVE BEEN LESS OR NON EXISTENT IF MY AIR BAGS WENT OFF. IS THIS NEW AIR BAG REQUIREMENTS REALLY HELPING? OR IS IT JUST TRYING TO SAVE INSURANCE COMPANIES FROM TOTALING CARS THAT AIR BAGS DEPLOY? CAR WILL BE SIGNED OFF BY TOMORROW AND INSURANCE COMPANY WILL OWN THE CAR. DOES ANYONE CARE TO LOOK AT THIS CAR AND SEE IF IT FAILED?
I WAS DRIVING EASTBOUND AT 35 MPH. A WESTBOUND CAR LOST CONTROL AND CROSSED THE MEDIAN. I STRUCK THE CAR T-BONE AT 35 MPH. IT WAS A DIRECT FRONTAL COLLISION TO MY CAR. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE EXAMINED.
THE CAR STOPS RANDOMLY AT TIMES AND SOMETIMES WILL NOT EVEN STARTUP. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND I RECENTLY HIT SOMEONE IN FRONT OF ME DUE TO JERKING OR LERCHING WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT. VERY DANGEROUS
WAS STOPPED IN TRAFFIC, THEN WHEN I SLOWLY TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE TO MOVE, THE ENGINE REVVED UP, THEN SURGED FORWARD VERY QUICKLY, I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE AGAIN, BUT IT WASN'T ENOUGH TO STOP THE CAR. I NEVER TOUCHED THE GAS PEDAL. THIS RESULTED IN ME SLAMMING INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME
WHERE TO BEGIN.... THE BRAKES ARE SHOT. DON'T WORK AT ALL. DURING THE SUMMER AND FALL THE CAR WILL RANDOMLY GO INTO "FAILSAFE MODE" AND JUST STOP. IT HAS TO BE TURNED COMPLETELY OFF FOR SEVERAL MINUTES BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO TURN BACK ON AND WILL GENERALLY DO THIS UP TO 8 TIMES BEFORE I JUST SHUT IT OFF AND LEAVE IT UNTIL THE NEXT DAY. DURING THESE MONTHS IT WILL ALSO GET A MIND OF IT'S OWN AND JUST LEAP FORWARD. I HAVE TO STOP 2 CAR LENGTHS BEHIND ANY CAR IN FRONT OF ME WHEN I'M COMING TO A STOP, OTHERWISE IT WILL LUNGE FORWARD (EVEN THOUGH I HAVE MY FOOT FIRMLY APPLIED ON THE BRAKE) AND HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. OH, AND WILL JUMP CURBS, HIT GARAGE DOORS, ALL THAT GOOD STUFF TOO WHEN IT GETS THIS SURGE. THEN, DURING THE WINTER MONTHS THE DOOR LATCH GETS STUCK AND THE CAR DOORS ARE LITERALLY FROZEN OPEN. I CAN'T DRIVE ANYWHERE WITH TWO SMALL CHILDREN AND CAR DOORS THAT WON'T SHUT. OH, AND MY VEHICLE WASN'T INCLUDED IN THE RECALL SO I CAN'T GET IT FIXED. OH AND DID I MENTION THE BRAKE SYSTEM DOESN'T WORK? LIKE WON'T HOLD BRAKE FLUID, AIR IS ALL IN THE LINES, AND HARDLY NO BRAKES. HAVE YOU EVER TRIED DRIVING WITH NO BRAKES?? IT SUCKS! I WAS DRIVING MY INFANT SON HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL AFTER CARDIOVASCULAR SURGERY. IT WAS A LIGHT DRIZZLE FOLLOWING A PERIOD OF HEAVY RAIN. THE ROADS WERE WET BUT THERE WAS NO STANDING WATER. CARS WERE BRAKING IN FRONT OF ME TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN. I APPLIED MY BRAKES, THE PEDAL WAS UP, BUT THERE WERE NO BRAKES. THE VEHICLE DID NOT EVEN BEGIN TO STOP. I PUSHED THEM AGAIN AND AGAIN AND THERE WAS STILL NO BRAKING OF THE VEHICLE CAUSING A REAR END COLLISION WITH THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME WHO REAR ENDED THE CAR IN FRONT OF HIM. NOTE: THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED! I HAD TO TAKE MY INFANT BACK TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE TO HAVE HIM CHECKED OUT BECAUSE OF THE PRIOR SURGERY. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE CAR DID NOT THROW ANY CODES AND THAT THERE WAS NO WAY TO TEST THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES AND NO WAY TO PROVE THAT THEY FAILED. I AM A VERY CAUTIOUS DRIVER, ALWAYS LEAVE PLENTY OF SPACE TO STOP BETWEEN ME AND THE CARS IN FRONT OF ME. I HAVE NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT OR MOVING VIOLATION, AND YET THE RESPONSE THAT I RECEIVED FROM THE DEALERSHIP WAS "WELL THE FRONT ENDS ARE MADE TO COLLAPSE IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT".. THAT IS NOT THE ISSUE. THE ACCIDENT SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE STOPPED. THERE WAS MORE THAN ENOUGH SPACE TO STOP, I WAS APPLYING THE BRAKES, AND DID SO MULTIPLE TIMES TO TRY TO GET THEM TO WORK (SO OBVIOUSLY I HAD PLENTY OF SPACE TO STOP) AND YET THE CAR WOULD NOT EVEN SLOW DOWN. A VEHICLE SHOULD STOP WHEN YOU APPLY THE BRAKES, ANTI-LOCK MODE OR NOT! SOMEONE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED AND ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE COULD HAVE BEEN MY INFANT SON!!!!! *TR
MY FREESTYLE SURGES AND LUNGES FORWARD AND BACKWARDS. I HIT A CAR WHILE TRYING TO BACK UP AND PARK BECAUSE THE CAR SURGED AND ACCELERATED INTO REVERSE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM IN 2 YEARS AND NEEDED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. I ALMOST HIT PEOPLE IN A PARKING LOT BECAUSE OF THE SUDDEN SURGE AND ACCELERATION. THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND UNPREDICTABLE. NEEDS TO BE RECALLED! ENGINE MOUNT WAS ALSO CRACKED AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED AS IN MANY OF THE OTHER CASES IN THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. *TR
CAR WAS PARKED IN REAR OF APARTMENT COMPLEX.WHEN I PUT IT IN REVERSE IT LUNGED BACK WITHOUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS, SMASHING THE REAR OF THE CAR INTO THE APARTMENT BUILDING WALL. I DID HAVE A SEAT BELT ON BUT THE IMPACT CAUSED SEVERE NECK TRAUMA AS MY HEAD WAS TURNED AT THE TIME OF IMPACT. I SHUT THE CAR OFF. APPROXIMATELY AN HOUR LATER I STARTED THE CAR, PUT IT IN DRIVE, AND AS I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE THE CAR HOME, IT WOULD "LOSE POWER", THE WRENCH LIGHT WOULD COME ON, AND THE CAR WOULD HAVE NO TRANSMISSION POWER. I HAD TO PULL THE CAR OVER, TURN IT OFF AND RESTART IT. THIS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY. THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP INCORRECTLY DIAGNOSED AND CHARGED ME A REPAIR FOR CLEANING THE SENSOR - AND REFUSED TO REFUND ME MY DIAGNOSTIC CHARGES EVEN THOUGH MY CAR WAS NOT FIXED. I DID MY OWN RESEARCH TO LEARN IT WAS A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE. THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED THEY WOULD APPLY THE CREDIT TOWARDS REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY....BUT NOT ALL THE CHARGES. THEY WERE HORRIBLE TO DEAL WITH IN CUSTOMER SERVICE AFTER COMPLETELY FAILING TO FIX MY CAR AND CHARGING ME ALMOST $500. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED ONE OF THE TIMES THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD IT CRASHED INTO A RAIL AND STEPS LEADING TO A SHOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO DECIDED TO REPROGRAM THE COMPUTER. THERE WAS AN INVESTIGATION UNDER NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE11018 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL) THAT MAY BE RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THE INFORMATION WOULD BE REVIEWED BY THERE GENERAL COUNSEL DIVISION BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. IN AUGUST 2012, MY 2005 FREESTYLE SURGED WHILE IN REVERSE WITH MY WHEELS AT FULL CUT AS I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, AS I HAVE BEEN DOING FOR THE LAST 40 YEARS. AS I TOOK MY FOOT OFF OF THE GAS PEDAL TO APPLY THE BRAKE TO SWITCH TO DRIVE FROM REVERSE, THE CAR SURGED IN REVERSE, AND THE RIGHT CORNER OF MY REAR BUMPER IMPACTED MY NEIGHBORS TRUCK BEHIND HIS FRONT DOOR, CAUSING ME TO REPORT THE ACCIDENT TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO REPAIR HIS VEHICLE. I TOLD THE AGENT AT MY INSURANCE COMPANY I HAD READ ABOUT THIS SURGING PROBLEM IN THE FREESTYLE FORUMS, AND ASKED IF THE ACCIDENT WOULD BE CONTRIBUTED TO MECHANICAL FAILURE DUE TO DEFECTIVE PART, RATHER THAN DRIVER ERROR, AS I STATED BEFORE I HAVE BEEN BACKING OUT OF THIS DRIVEWAY FOR 40 YEARS WITH 70'S LINCOLNS AND CADILLACS, ALL CARS 5 FEET LONGER THAN THE FREESTYLE, WITHOUT INCIDENT. HER REPLY WAS THAT IF THERE WAS A RECALL DUE TO THIS PROBLEM, THEN YES, IT WOULD BE ATTRIBUTED TO MECHANICAL FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE EXITING A PARKING SPACE IN REVERSE AT 5 MPH, THE CONTACT SHIFTED BETWEEN REVERSE AND DRIVE WHEN VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD AND BACKWARD ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT HAD TO MAINTAIN PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE FROM SURGING. THE FAILURE RECURRED FREQUENTLY AND WAS MOST PROMINENT WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS ACTIVATED OR THE WEATHER WAS HOT. THE FAILURE LATER RECURRED AND THE CONTACT CRASHED AGAINST A POOL TABLE IN A RESIDENTIAL GARAGE. THE BUMPER WAS SCRATCHED AND THE CONTACT DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE FAILURE. THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR FAILED BUT WAS NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
AFTER COMING HOME FROM A TRIP TO THE GROCERY STORE, ABOUT 5 MILE TOTAL ROUND TRIP; I PULLED INTO MY GARAGE. WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND ABOUT TO MOVE THE GEAR LEVER FROM DRIVE TO PARK, THE CAR SUDDENLY SURGED FORWARD HITTING A METAL STORAGE SHELF. THE CAR SURGED 5 FEET FORWARD WHILE ENGINE RPMS INCREASED FROM IDLE (ABOUT 800) TO 2500 INSTANTLY AND UNCOMMANDED WITH ABSOLUTELY NO THROTTLE INCREASE OR INPUT. IT DAMAGED THE FRONT OF MY CAR. OUR FREESTYLE DOES THIS OFTEN. I NORMALLY CAN CATCH IT. IT ALWAYS HAPPENS AT LOW SPEED OR WHILE THE CAR IS STOPPED. IT HAPPENS BOTH IN DRIVE AND REVERSE. I HAVE SINCE HAD TO DISCONTINUE LETTING MY 18 AND 16 YEAR OLD SON AND DAUGHTER DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE DANGER INVOLVED IN THESE UNCONTROLLED SURGES. *TR
ON MARCH 4TH 2010 I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY SISTERS DRIVEWAY WHEN MY CAR SURGED AND CAUSED ME TO BACK INTO HER NEIGHBORS GARAGE ACROSS THE ALLEY. SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS CLOSE CALLS FROM ALMOST HITTING PEDESTRIANS IN CROSS WALKS TO ALMOST HITTING THE FRONT OF STORES, OR OTHER VEHICLES WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PULL INTO OR BACK OUT OF PARKING SPOTS. THE CAR ALSO SURGES AT STOP LIGHTS. I HAVE STARTED PUTTING MY CAR IN PARK WHILE IDLING SO THAT I DON'T END UP IN AN ACCIDENT. IN MAY OF 2012 I HIT A METAL FENCE POST WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK MY CAR AT THE LOCAL RODEO. THE CAR IS DANGEROUS & I DO NOT ALLOW MY DAUGHTERS, WHO ARE BOTH OLD ENOUGH TO DRIVE, TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE. FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THIS DANGEROUS MALFUNCTION BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 FORD FREESTYLE ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 72 MPH. WHILE DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT SECTION OF HIGHWAY AND WITH BOTH OF MY HANDS ON THE STEERING WHEEL, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY WENT COMPLETELY OUT OF CONTROL. I TRIED DESPERATELY TO STRAIGHTEN UP AND TO CONTROL THE CAR BUT IT WAS USELESS. THE VEHICLE WENT SIDEWAYS AND THEN STARTED TO SPIN OUT OF CONTROL. THE VEHICLE ENDED UP IN A BERM ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY FACING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. ONLY BY THE MERCY AND GRACE OF GOD WAS OUR VEHICLE NOT STRUCK BY A PASSING VEHICLE OR DID OUR VEHICLE ROLL. WE WALKED AWAY FROM THE ACCIDENT WITH NO INJURIES JUST THANKFUL HEARTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SERVICE STATION AND THE TECHNICIAN QUICKLY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A BROKEN LOWER LEFT REAR CONTROL ARM SUPPORT BRACKET. THE CONTROL ARM IS WHAT KEEPS THE REAR WHEELS FROM TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT. THE LOWER CONTROL ARM SUPPORT BRACKET IS WHAT HELPS TO KEEP THE CONTROL ARM IN PLACE. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION AFTER THE ACCIDENT WE HAVE IDENTIFIED A NUMBER OF OTHER VEHICLE OWNERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME PROBLEM. MY CAR HAS A SERIOUS LUNGING PROBLEM. IT DOES IT MAINLY WHEN THE CAR IS IN DRIVE, BUT ALSO WHEN IN REVERSE. I HAVE HIT POSTS AND OTHER STATIONARY OBJECTS A COUPLE OF TIMES, AND HAVE MULTIPLE NEAR MISSES OF HITTING OTHER CARS. AN EXAMPLE WOULD BE SUCH AS WHEN IN THE DRIVE-THRU AT MCDONALDS OR OTHER FAST FOOD PLACES, WHEN THE CAR IS IDLING. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED MANY TIMES WHEN I AM SITTING AT STOP LIGHTS OR WAITING TO MAKE A TURN.
