WAS AT A STANDSTILL WHEN I WAS HIT BY A 1999 DODGE NEON ON RIGHT FRONT SIDE...THE NEON SHRED THE FRONT OF MY CAR FROM PASSENGER SIDE TO DRIVER SIDE, TRAVELING DEEPER INTO THE FRONT END OF THE CAR AS IT WENT ACROSS MY CAR FROM RIGHT FRONT TO LEFT FRONT. THE AIRBAG DID OPEN, HOWEVER, BETWEEN 8 AND 9 O'CLOCK ON THE STEERING WHEEL THE BAG CAUGHT FIRE AND WHEN UP IN FLAMES. THE LEFT SIDE OF THE BAG WAS DAMAGED BY FIRE AND MY LEFT HAND WAS BURNED. OTHER DRIVER DUI (BLEW 2.6 ABOUT 1 HR LATER), WRONG-WAY IN MY LANE, DROVE SILVERADO, SEEMED TO SPEED UP UPON IMPACT, ATTEMPTED TO KEEP GOING BUT SILVERADO HOOKED INTO BRAKED RAV. MY CAR WAS PUSHED BACKWARD ABOUT 40 FT., ACCORDING TO POLICE OFFICERS. SHOCKING SOUND AND FEELING UPON IMPACT. MY AIR BAG DEPLOYED, BUT DID NOT DEFLATE--INSTEAD, IT EXPLODED. HAVE HAD BREATHING PROBLEMS SINCE, EXACERBATION OF ASTHMA, BURNING FEELING IN EARS, OTHER SYMPTOMS. I DID NOT KNOW THAT THE AIR BAG WAS SUPPOSED TO DEFLATE. ADJUSTER AGREES IT EXPLODED, BUT DOES NOT KNOW IF HE HAS A PHOTO OF THE EXPLODED AIR BAG. HE WILL LOOK THROUGH HIS PHOTOS.

THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.

I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHEN MY RAV4 PULLED TO OVER THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STRIKE A TREE CAUSING 7 BROKEN RIBS AND IT TOTALED MY CAR .I SAW A RECALL THAT WAS ISSUED IN SEPTEMBER THAT THE REAR TIRE RODS CAN CAUSE YOU TO LOSE CONTROL CAUSING A CRASH RECENTLY AND I KNOW THAT WAS THE REASON FOR THIS CRASH I DRIVE THIS ROAD FREQUENTLY AND HAVE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE UNTIL AUGUST 11TH MY BOTH ARMS WERE INJURED AND MY CHEST AND SHOULDER HAD SCRAPES AND CUTS TO WHICH I BLAME ON THE MANUFACTURER, I AM STILL RECOVERING FROM MY INJURY AND ALSO BELIEVE THE AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY IN TIME BECAUSE OUT OF THE 7 BROKEN RIBS MY STERNUM BONE WAS BROKEN FROM THE STEERING WHEEL!!

WE HIT A DEER WHILE DOING 45 TO 50 MPH ON A LOCAL 2 LANE HIGHWAY. DAMAGE WAS MAJOR AND WAS MOSTLY TO THE PASSENGER FRONT BUT WE WERE ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME (ABOUT A MILE). AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AS INTENDED AND DID NOT PREVENT PASSENGER FROM HITTING HEAD ON WINDOW TRIM. PASSENGER WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL FOR HEAD ABRASION AND NECK PAIN. SHE WAS TREATED AND RELEASED. AS A NOTE THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS STAYING LIT AT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND SEAT BELTS DID NOT LOCK IN PLACE. WE ARE AWAITING A VISIT FROM THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER.

THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING (EPS) FAILED ON MY 2010 TOYOTA RAV-4 TODAY ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE RESULTING CRASH ALMOST KILLED ME. I'M 53 YEARS OLD, MY RAV-4 HAS ALWAYS HAD ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND IS IN GOOD CONDITION, NOT ABUSED AND ALWAYS WELL TAKEN CARE OF. WITHOUT WARNING TODAY WHILE TRAVELING AT ABOUT 60 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED VIBRATING AND SHARPLY TURNING LEFT-RIGHT-LEFT-RIGHT FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS WITH A GRINDING AND SHAKING NOISE IN THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. I USED ALL MY STRENGTH TO KEEP THE CAR POINTED STRAIGHT WHILE TRYING TO SLOW DOWN AND NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THEN THE CAR SHARPLY VEERED LEFT AND HIT (HARD) A 5-FOOT CONCRETE BARRIER WALL SEPARATING THE INTERSTATE LANES. AS THIS WAS OCCURRING A RED TRIANGLE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON THE DASHBOARD WITH AN EXCLAMATION POINT. AFTER THE ACCIDENT I LOOKED IN THE TOYOTA RAV-4 OWNERS MANUAL, AND IT INDICATED AN "EPS MALFUNCTION". THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED MAJOR DAMAGE (INSURANCE ESTIMATE STILL PENDING, PROBABLY ABOUT $8,000). MORE IMPORTANTLY HOWEVER, I BELIEVE IF THE CONCRETE RETAINING WALL HADN'T BEEN THERE MY VEHICLE WOULD HAVE TURNED LEFT, ROLLED OVER INTO APPROACHING ON-COMING TRAFFIC FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE AND POTENTIALLY CAUSED MUCH GREATER SAFETY RISK TO ON-COMING TRAFFIC AND DAMAGE. IT WAS VERY FORTUNATE THAT THE WALL WAS THERE. I SUSTAINED BACK INJURIES. THERE WAS ALSO A WITNESS IN BACK OF ME WHO SAW THE ENTIRE THING WITH THE ERRATIC STEERING AND RESULTING ACCIDENT; HE STOPPED TO ENSURE WAS OK AND HE CALLED 911 AND MADE A STATEMENT TO THE POLICE. THIS WAS NOT DUE TO TIRES (THEY ARE NEW), OR POOR ROAD CONDITIONS (THIS PART OF THE INTERSTATE WAS NEWLY REFINISHED AND SMOOTH). IT WAS CLEARLY A MECHANICAL FAILURE OF THE TOYOTA EPS. I WAS LEAVING MY HOME IN MY 2010 TOYOTA RAV4. I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND IT INSTANTLY BEGAN TO ACCELERATE AT A VERY HIGH SPEED. I IMMEDIATELY PRESSED DOWN ON THE BRAKES AS HARD AS I COULD. HOWEVER NOTHING OCCURRED THE CAR CONTINUED TO REVERSE RAPIDLY. I SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL BUT IT WAS A SMALL SPACE AND BY THEN I WAS NEAR THE STONE FIXTURE WHICH THE VEHICLE HIT. THE FIXTURE WHICH WAS SOLID STONE WAS IN THE GROUND, IT WAS UPROOTED BY THE VEHICLE. IN ORDER FOR AN OBJECT LIKE THIS TO BE UPROOTED A GREAT DEAL OF SPEED WOULD NEED TO BE INVOLVED. MY DRIVEWAY IS ON AN INCLINE AND I NEVER PRESS ON THE GAS PEDAL WHILE REVERSING AS THE VEHICLE WILL REVERSE ON ITS OWN DUE TO THE INCLINATION. *TR
