TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CHEVROLET S10. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET, THE CONTACT FELL ASLEEP AND CRASHED INTO A PARKED VEHICLE. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE IGNITED INTO FLAMES AND RENDERED HIM UNCONSCIOUS. HE WAS REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE BY ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL. THE AMBULANCE, FIRE, AND POLICE DEPARTMENTS WERE CALLED TO THE SCENE AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE DRIVER WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL AND REMAINED THERE FOR THREE DAYS. HE SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES TO THE FACE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A TOW YARD. THE CAUSE OF THE AIR BAG FAILURE HAS NOT BEEN DETERMINED. THE CONTACT IS IN THE PROCESS OF TAKING PHOTOS OF THE DESTROYED VEHICLE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 86,000.

THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO AN EMBANKMENT AND CREEK. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER WAS NOT WEARING A SEAT BELT AND SUSTAINED NECK, NOSE, AND EYE INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 230,000.

THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE BACK, NECK, LEFT SHOULDER, AND CHEST, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO HER RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
IN 2011 MY HUSBAND WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE A PERSON TURNED IN FRONT OF HIM AS HE WAS DRIVING ABOUT 35 MPH (ACCORDING TO THE POLICE REPORT). HIS AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY AS IT SHOULD HAVE, AND SINCE THAT TIME HE HAS SUFFERED SERIOUS BACK PROBLEMS. I WROTE TO CHEVY CUSTOMER RELATIONS AT THE TIME, AND WAS NEVER GIVEN A SATISFACTORY ANSWER. AFTER MULTIPLE LETTERS AND E-MAILS I FINALLY GAVE UP. SINCE THAT TIME MY HUSBAND HAS HAD TO TAKE TYLENOL WITH CODEINE EVERY SINGLE DAY SIMPLY TO BE ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH DAY-TO-DAY TASKS. *TR
APPROACHING AN ON-RAMP, ATTEMPTED TO STOP, LOSS OF BRAKE FUNCTIONALITY. RESULTED IN A CRASH. ONE PERSON WAS AMBULANCED TO HOSPITAL. THE MECHANIC LATER FOUND THAT THE BRAKE LINE WAS RUPTURED. I RECEIVED A TICKET. I KEPT THE BRAKE LINE. *TR
IN A SLOW MOVING SURFACE STREET ACCIDENT, THE FRAME OF THE 2000 S10 COLLAPSED TOWARD THE DRIVER, AND THE DASHBOARD BROKE THE DRIVER'S FEMUR. *TR
WHEN BRAKES APPLIED AT LOW SPEED THEY DID NOT WORK. THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WITH NO STOPPING . THE SYSTEM WAS INSPECTED BY MEDVED CHEVROLET AND NOTHING WAS FOUND WRONG. THIS HAS HAPPEN ONCE . THE INCIDENT IS VERY SIMILAR TO THE SILVERADO RECALL 05V379000. I ALSO OWN A SILVERADO. *JB
DRIVING 45 MPH, CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED IN FRONT OF MY DAUGHTER (DRIVER), APPLIED BRAKE WHICH WENT TO THE FLOOR AND DID NOT STOP VEHICLE RESULTING IN COLLISION WITH VEHICLE AND EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO OUR S10 FRONT; AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.
ON MARCH 17, 2003, I WAS TRAVELING EASTBOUND ON WATERS AVENUE WHEN A HARTLINE BUS STOPPED TWO CARS AHEAD OF ME. I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AS THE BUS WAS LETTING PASSENGERS ON AND OFF. A FEMALE DRIVING A FORD TAURUS WAS TRAVELING 45 MILES PER HOUR AND SWERVED TO AVOID MY TRUCK. SHE HIT THE REAR BUMPER, SHATTERING THE BACK WINDOW OF MY CHEVY S10. THE TRUCK PROCEEDED TO BE LIFTED UP AND WAS THRUSTED INTO THE SUV AHEAD OF ME. AS I TRIED TO GET OUT OF MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR, I NOTICED IT WAS JAMMED. I TOOK OF MY SEATBELT AND PROCEEDED TO GET OUT MY PASSENGER DOOR. THAT IS WHEN I NOTICED THAT NEITHER AIRBAG HAD GONE OFF. NOTICING THAT, AND ALSO NOTICING HER AIRBAG WAS DEPLOYED. I PROCEEDED TO ASK THE POLICE OFFICER IF MY AIRBAG SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. HE REPLIED, "YES IT SHOULD HAVE GONE OFF AND YOU'RE LUCKY YOU WERE WEARING A SEATBELT OR YOU WOULD HAVE SUSTAINED SERIOUS INJURY DUE TO HITTING THE WINDSHIELD." I WENT TO TOWN AND COUNTRY HOSPITAL AND WAS INFORMED THAT I HAD SUSTAINED LOWER BACK STRAIN AND WHIPLASH. MY TRUCK WAS A TOTAL LOSS BECAUSE THE FRAME WAS BENT. I PURCHASED THE CHEVY S10 BECAUSE IT HAD AIRBAGS AND I FELT I WOULD BE SAFE IN AN ACCIDENT. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW ANY INFORMATION OF ANY RECALLS OR PROBLEMS WITH AIRBAGS OF THE CHEVY S10S. DRIVER WENT TO AVOID FAST BRAKING TRUCK IN FRONT. WENT INTO THE DITCH, AND DROVE FRONT OF TRUCK INTO A DRIVEWAY. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. SUSTAINED INJURY TO RIGHT SHOULDER, WHICH STILL HAS NOT HEALED. WAS WEARING SEAT BELT. $8300+ DAMAGE TO CAR.*AK
I WAS PARKING MY TRUCK IN MY APT PARKING STRUCTURE AFTER WORK ON 9/14/02, UPON FINDING A PARKING SPACE I MADE A 3 POINT TURN TO GET INTO THE PARKING SPACE. I REVERSED THEN STOPPED AND PLACED THE TRUCK IN DRIVE AS I WAS ABOUT TO PULL FORWARD INTO THE PARKING SPACE. AT THAT POINT I BARELY TOUCH THE GAS EXPECTING TO COAST INTO THE SPACE AND THEN SUDDELY THE MOTOR JUST STARTED REVVING UP. I DIDN'T THINK TWICE AND JUST JUMPED ON THE BRAKE WITH BOTH FEET BUT THE TRUCK WOULDN'T STOP. WE ENDED UP JUMPING THE CEMENT PARKING STOPPER ON THE GROUND, WHICH LIFTED THE FRONT END INTO THE AIR ABOUT 2-3 FEET, AND SENT US SMASHING INTO THE BLOCK WALL DIRECTLY INFRONT OF US. I NOW HAVE $2,200 WORTH OF FRONT END DAMAGE, AND AM REALLY WORRIED ABOUT DRIVING THAT TRUCK AGAIN.*AK

WHILE TRAVELING AT 30-35 MPH CONSUMER RAN INTO A TREE HEAD-ON AND NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THERE WAS A 11,320 DOLLAR DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. CONTACTED DEALER, AND THE DEALER WAS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING.*AK *SLC

THE DRIVER REPORTED THAT AS HE PULLED INTO A DRIVEWAY THE ACCELERATOR STUCK CAUSING HIM TO LOSE CONTROL. HE APPLIED THE BRAKE BUT THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP. THE VEHICLE STRUCK A PEDESTRIAN. HIS INJURIES ARE VERY SERIOUS. POSSIBLE FATALITY. THE DRIVER WAS NOT IMPAIRED. THE PHYSICAL EVIDENCE WAS CONSISTENT WITH THE DRIVER'S STATEMENT.
