MY AIRBAGS DID NOT GO OFF AT A SPEED OF 35-40 MPH, STRIKING THE VEHICLE THAT WAS AT-FAULT, AND THEN A METAL POLE. FORTUNATELY DID NOT HAVE MY DAUGHTER WITH ME.

I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON FEBRUARY 28, 2019 WHEN I VEERED OFF INTO A DITCH, MY VEHICLE FLEW INTO THE AIR AFTER HITTING A DRIVEWAY, AND FLIPPED AT ABOUT 55 MPH. I WAS DRIVING ON A RURAL FARM TO MARKET ROAD. I WAS DRIVING AND THE ONLY ONE IN THE VEHICLE. MY SEATBELT NEVER LOCKED AS I WRECKED. IT WAS BUCKLED BUT NEVER ENGAGED. I SUBMITTED TO JEEP FOR REVIEW AND THEY DENIED MY CLAIM AND SAID THE SEATBELT WAS WORKING PROPERLY. MY SEATBELT WAS ALL THE WAY STRETCHED OUT AND EVEN FRAYED AT THE TOP WHERE THE LOOP IS. MY L1 INSTANTLY BLEW UP INTO MY SPINAL CORD AND I SUFFERED SEVERE INJURIES.

ON DECEMBER 9, 2016 I RENTED A JEEP COMPASS AND ON THAT DAY I HAD A ROLL OVER ACCIDENT. I WAS DRIVING IN THE COUNTRY. VERY LOW TRAFFIC AREA. BEFORE APPLYING THE BRAKE, I WAS DRIVING AT A SAFE SPEED FOR THE ROAD CONDITIONS - FIFTEEN TO TWENTY MPH ON FRESH SNOW AND SOME PACKED SNOW OVER A PAVED ROAD BASE. AT ABOUT TWENTY TO TWENTY FIVE FEET BEFORE A STOP SIGN I BEGAN TO APPLY THE BRAKE. THE BRAKE DID NOTHING. THERE WAS CLICKING NOISES AND THE COMPASS SEEMED TO ACCELERATE. I CONTINUED TO APPLY THE BRAKE AS I ROLLED THROUGH THE STOP AREA FOR THE STOP SIGN. THE PAVED ROAD ENDED AT THE STOP SIGN AND TURNED INTO A DIRT ROAD BASE. AT THIS POINT I TURNED THE WHEEL AS THE MOMENTUM CONTINUED. I WAS HOPING THE DIRT ROAD BASE WOULD PROVIDE GRAB FOR THE TURNED FRONT TIRES AND STEER THE COMPASS TO THE DIRECTION OF THE DIRT ROAD. THERE WAS NO GRAB AND THE COMPASS CONTINUED TO DRIVE ACROSS THE DIRT ROAD FOR ABOUT ANOTHER TWENTY FEET AS I CONTINUED TO APPLY THE BRAKE. I HAD APPLIED THE BRAKE FOR ABOUT FORTY-FIVE FEET WHEN I SEE THE TEN FOOT DROP DITCH AHEAD OF ME. THE COMPASS DIDN'T SLOW, EVER. IT SEEMED TO ACCELERATE. IT WOULDN'T BE DIRECTED BY STEERING IT. I HAD NO CONTROL OVER IT. AT THIS POINT I DID ALL THAT I COULD THINK OF TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I LOOKED AT THE DITCH AND KNEW THAT THE SUV AND I WOULD RECEIVE DAMAGE. THE COMPASS ROLLED INTO THE DITCH. WHEN THE SUV FINALLY STOPPED I WAS UP SIDE DOWN. FOR ME TO BEST DESCRIBE THIS JEEP COMPASS IS THAT IT WAS A "TERMINATOR". IT HAD A MIND OF ITS OWN. THE JEEP WAS TOTALED BUT YET NOT ONE AIRBAG WAS EVER DEPLOYED. THERE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SIX AIRBAGS IN THIS VEHICLE BUT NOT ONE EVER DEPLOYED. MY HUSBAND SUFFERED A MINOR HEAD INJURY AS A RESULT.

I WAS ON A VACATION TRIP AND MY SON WAS DRIVING. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND HE CRASHED INTO A POLE. MY WIFE AND I THOUGHT THE STEERING WAS ROUGH BUT THOUGHT IT WOULD EASE UP. AFTER THE CAR WAS HIT THE AXEL ON THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE WAS DESTROYED. HE WASN'T MOVING FAST ENOUGH FOR THE AXEL TO GET DAMAGED WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THE AXEL WAS POORLY CONSTRUCTED IN THE FIRST PLACE. NO MY CAR IS STUCK IN A FRIEND'S DRIVEWAY WITH NO WAY OF GETTING IT HOME. THIS HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE.

AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE AND LETTING IT RUN FOR A FEW MINUTES, WE TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND LEFT THE VEHICLE. WITHIN A FEW MINUTES, WE NOTICED A FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. WE ATTEMPTED TO PUT OUT THE FIRE WITH THREE EXTINGUISHERS BUT WERE NOT ABLE TO DO SO. ANOTHER EMPLOYEE CALLED 911 AND THE LOCAL FIRE DPT. PUT OUT THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS. WE CONTACTED CHRYSLER WHO SENT AN INVESTIGATOR TO INSPECT THE DAMAGE. CHRYSLER LATER SENT US AN E-MAIL STATING THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE THAT THE FIRE WAS A RESULT OF A "MANUFACTURING OR ASSEMBLY ERROR". WE BELIEVE THE DAMAGE IS A RESULT OF A DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE. EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY, CHRYSLER REFUSES TO COVER THE LOSS.

GOVERNOR PRINTZ BOULEVARD, LESTER, PA 19029) WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 48,000.

While driving at any time, the speedometer will instantly drop and the car feels like it's about to shut itself off. After a diagnostic with a mechanic, they stated this was the crankshaft issue; similar to a recall for other 2016 jeep compass. My vin is not currently associated with this recall notice, however based on these safety defects, it seems it should be considered under the recall

Continuously stalls out regardless of speed it has stalled on the highway, in the middle of intersections losing power steering. sometimes restarts right away, sometimes not. leaving me stranded in in the middle of highway/intersections sometimes in very dangerous places. It has had a recall repaired in 2017 before I owned the vehicle however it has had the exact same issues as the recall since I’ve bought it. I’ve spent the past few years trying to look up recalls and communicate with the dealership with zero luck at all. I’ve been told time and time again that it has already been repaired and the 2 years warranty is has expired since. (expired before I even bought the car) Yet the car clearly has has not been properly fixed for the same issues to keep happening. Because lack of help to resolve this issue I have paid out of pocket to have these issues repaired. However again the same issues keep happening leaving me and my family in very dangerous positions time and time again at the mercy of other drivers paying attention. What am I to do? I Cannot afford to keep replacing something that isn’t fixing the problem and leaving us in dangerous positions. Check engine light comes on after the car stalls but goes away after a little bit of driving.

The contact's daughter owns a 2016 Jeep Compass. While the contact's daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine seized. No warning lights were illuminated. The driver attempted to restart the vehicle, and the vehicle restarted. The driver waited for several minutes before attempting to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to Midas, where it was diagnosed with a CAM shaft sensor failure. The contact was informed that the CAM shaft sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact was informed of NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V907000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not associated with the recall. Approximately one year later, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to Midas. The contact was informed that the CAM shaft sensor connector, CAM shaft sensor, crank shaft, and wiring harness needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the CAM shaft sensor was the only part available. The contact was informed that the CAM shaft sensor connector, crank shaft, and the wiring harness were not available and were on back order. The CAM shaft sensor was replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.

The engine failed while driving on the expressway putting us in a dangerous spot on the outer lane. It was towed to Etscorn’s in Louisville, KY and we were told despite everything looking ok on the outside, there was an internal engine failure of some kind and it would cost $900 to take it apart just to find out. I don’t have that kind of money.
