WAS DRIVING ON I-10 IN TEXAS IN OUR 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA TRUCK ON 7/9/2005. THE RAIN WAS ON AND OFF. I WAS DRIVING UNDER THE SPEED LIMIT DUE TO THE VISIBILITY. THE TRUCK SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND WENT OFF THE ROAD, OVERTURNED. MY WIFE WAS SITTING IN THE BACK. SHE WAS EJECTED AND KILLED. IT WAS SO SUDDEN AND I DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO THINK. I THOUGHT IT COULD BE THE SLIPPERY CONDITION OF THE ROAD CAUSING THE TRUCK TO GO FASTER. IS THERE ANY SIMILAR REPORT REGARDING THE 2000 TUNDRA? I JUST WANT TO GET RID OF THE DOUBT THAT'S BEEN CARRIED WITH ME FOR THE LAST ALMOST 5 YRS. THE TRUCK HAD AROUND 28,000 MILES WHEN HAPPENED. THE TIRES ARE STILL NEW. THANK YOU FOR READING THIS. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA THAT WAS BOUGHT NEW HAD A TIRE PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL LOCKED, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL, AND THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. THERE WERE FIVE PEOPLE IN THE VEHICLE AND ALL OCCUPANTS WERE INJURED. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, AND DETERMINED THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A LACK OF OIL IN THE VEHICLE.*AK
Hit a power pole going 55mp,broke the pole in half.Airbags did not deploy,seat belt did not engage.I hit my face on the glass and the steering wheel,nearly broke my face.My dog was in the back thankfully.My hips took the brunt of the impact, they still hurt. A Idaho state trooper investigated with video showing our totaled truck around a broken pole, no air bag or seat belt employed,My smashed face covered in blood. Did a little research and found that our 2000 tundra isnt in a recall???What does it take to set off a tundra airbag?? Also found out that I should be thankful it didnt go off or I may have been injured by a discharge of schrapnel??Found several victims of that. My wife takes a blood thinner and often goes with me to town,but now shes not going to be able to safely ride in her own vehicle anymore?? This reminds me of how CPS drops the ball and just lets kids die before they ever do anything. I will be doing alot more with my pen as my sword my video as my witness,I loved my tundra but this is more way more dangerous than my 1990 truck with basic mechanics.If you have a tundra or other vehicle that is dangerous ,speak out about it,get an attorney,Save SOMEONES LIFE.These are dangerous airbags,no doubt in my mind. Ps Our truck is 100% unmodified other than tire changes.Now a death trap, until this is resolved
Discovered that Toyota tundra and other models possible use of defective product of airbag srs system, basis of preceding years and following years of producing models and other plants supply house. I am seeking replacement parts for airbags components and sensors and clockspring and repairs. Only had two warrant issues up to this date. Trailer towing package and high altitude air flow/ throttle position sensor. Resolve by manufacturer and dealership. Current affairs of airbag recall list and the accident reports of12/10/2009-2010 show no airbag deployment and were a serious relationship with the owners and the people affected. Research shows takata reviews for further information and details of the products and services for repairs. I have a 2000-2001 tundra and are looking at the possibility of "dummy airbags components" been installed and not working. Further, timing going out on double coil type ignition (original). jumpers to the next firing order coil. I have had to interim operation a single coil, primary, with jumper wire. 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA. CONSUMER STATED THAT DURING AN AUTO ACCIDENT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER THE CRASH, HE HAD TO HAVE EXTENSIVE DECOMPRESSION SURGERY. THE CONSUMER STATED HE BROKE HIS BACK AND BADLY DAMAGED HIS NECK. THE CONSUMER WAS PERMANENTLY DISABLED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A DEER AND THEN AN EMBANKMENT. THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUFFERED BROKEN BONES TO THE NOSE, CHEEK, AND BODY BRUISES. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 201,000.
TAKATA RECALL , AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY AT HARD IMPACT AT 40 MPH.

DRIVER #1 WAS TRAVELING NE AND ROUNDING A BEND. ANOTHER VEHICLE TRAVELING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION WAS DRIVING IN CENTER OF ROAD. DRIVER #1 VEERED VEHICLE FURTHER NE TO AVOID A COLLISION. DRIVER #1 LOST TRACTION AND VEHICLE SPUN OUT. THE FRONT END OF DRIVER #1 VEHICLE HIT SNOW BANK AND BOULDER. VEHICLE THEN BECAME STUCK IN A DITCH. DRIVER #1 ATTEMPTED TO ROCK VEHICLE OUT OF DITCH WITHOUT SUCCESS. DRIVER #1 THEN PUT VEHICLE INTO 4-WHEEL DRIVE AND ACCELERATED IN REVERSE. THE FRONT WHEELS OBTAINED TRACTION. THE ENGINE ACCELERATOR BECAME STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO THRUST BACKWARDS ACROSS ROAD AND DOWN A 23-25 FOOT EMBANKMENT. DRIVER #1 ATTEMPTED BUT COULD NOT STOP VEHICLE. VEHICLE LANDED IN A CANYON ON SOME TREES AND ROCKS SEVERELY DAMAGING THE VEHICLE. DRIVER #1 WAS SEVERELY INJURED IN ACCIDENT WITH HYPOTHERMIA AND A C2 FRACTURED VERTEBRA. *TR
I WAS DRIVING BEHIND A HONDA ACCORD GOING AROUND 65 MPH GIVE OR TAKE 5 MPH, WHEN THE CAR IN FRONT OF THE HONDA MADE A LATE SIGNAL AND SLOW DOWN. BY THE TIME I WAS ABLE TO REACT I REAR ENDED THE HONDA AND CRUSHED THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE OF MY TRUCK. THE SEAT BELTS DID NOT LOCK AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. MY TRUCK WENT ALL THE WAY INTO THE BACK SEAT OF THE HONDA. THE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF MY TRUCK STARTED AT THE PASSENGER HEAD LIGHT AND WENT ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE DRIVERS SIDE AND WAS PUSHED INTO THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE. TO MY KNOWLEDGE THE AIR BAGS SHOULD OF DEPLOYED AND THE SEAT BELTS SHOULD OF LOCKED. IF IT WASN'T FOR THE STEERING WHEEL I WOULD OF WENT THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. ALSO THE PASSENGER AIRBAGS WERE ON BUT DIDN'T DEPLOY EITHER. *JS
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, AND LOSS COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE SWAYED OFF OF THE ROAD AND CRASHED INTO SEVERAL TREES. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED SEVERE INJURIES. THE POLICE WAS NOT CALLED TO THE SCENE. THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO A BROKEN FRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION BY THE MANUFACTURERS ENGINEER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT PRIOR TO THE CRASH THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND MANUFACTURER ENGINEERS ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS AND REASSURED HIM THAT THE FRAME WAS NOT A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
REAR END FAILED DUE TO RUST OUT PARTS OF PICKUP. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE VEHICLE HAS COOPER DISCOVERER RADIAL LT TIRES. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A THUMPING SOUND FROM THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE. THE VEHICLE FISHTAILED, SPUN AROUND TOWARDS THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD, AND ROLLED OVER. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED FACIAL FRACTURES AS WELL AS NECK AND BACK INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE INVESTIGATING OFFICER STATED THAT THE TIRE STILL HAD 30 LBS. OF PRESSURE REMAINING; HOWEVER, THE TREAD WAS WRAPPED AROUND THE HUB AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO FISHTAIL. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE TIRE SIZE AND DOT NUMBER WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 180,000.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE COLUMN GEAR SHIFT WAS PLACED INTO PARK ATOP A HILL WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ENGAGED AND THE ENGINE RUNNING, THE VEHICLE ROLLED FORWARD AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. AFTER INITIAL PARKING OF THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO REENTER THE VEHICLE AND STOP THE FORWARD MOTION INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE ROLLED DOWNHILL 60-70 YARDS AND TOTALED DUE TO THE EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. AFTER THE CRASH, THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND THE COLUMN GEAR SHIFT WAS IN PARK AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS STILL ENGAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SEEN BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER OR REPAIR SHOP. PURCHASED 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA IN 2004 WITH ABS LIGHT ON AND REAR END NOISE. TRUCK VIBRATES SIGNIFICANTLY WHEN BREAK IS USED DOWN HILL. TOYOTA AGREED TO INSPECT AND REPAIR IF ANY PROBLEM EXISTED. TOYOTA STATES THAT THE NOISE WAS A PARKING BRAKE CABLE AND THE BREAKS SHOULD BE USED "SMOOTHLY", TAKING CARE NOT TO HIT IT TOO HARD. THE DAY AFTER PICK UP FROM SERVICE DEPARTMENT A MAJOR ACCIDENT OCCURED WHEN AT 45 MPH THE BRAKES LOCKED UP CAUSING VEHICLE TO SLIDE 75 FEET IMPACTING TWO OTHER VEHICLES THAT WERE TOTALED OUT. THE TUNDRA REAR-ENDED A SMALL CAR. DAMMAGE WAS TO THE UPPER LEFT SIDE OF THE TUNDRA AND ALL THE WAY TO THE MIDDLE OF THE ENGINE AREA, AS THE TOP OF THE TUNDRA WAS FORCED INTO A DOWNWARD POSITION BY THE LEFT FRONT TIRE LOCKING UP. NO AIR BAG DEPLOYED. NOT THE DRIVER OR PASSENGER SIDE. 3 MINOR INJURIES TO 3 PEOPLE INSIDE TUNDRA. NECK INJURY TO DRIVER OF FIRST VEHICLE IMPACTED. TOYOTA VERBALLY STATED TO FAMILY MEMBER THAT THEY KNEW IT WAS A PROBLEM. BODY WORK FINNISHED AND INSURANCE PAID BILL. BREAKS STILL LOCK UP EVEN AT LOW SPEEDS. USING BREAKS ON A HILL CAUSE TRUCK TO SHAKE. BREAK PADS REPLACED AND BREAKS STILL DO NOT FUNCTION AS REQUIRED. TOYOTA DENIES ANY PROBLEM WITH BREAKS.
WHILE DRIVING CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE HEAD ON. UPON IMPACT, BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES, AND WENT TO THE HOSPITAL THE NEXT DAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A BODY SHOP. *AK
(1)LOWER BALL JOINT FAILURE AT FRONT LEFT. BALL JOINT ANALYSIS INDICATES METALLURGICAL INCOMPATABILITY OF BALL AND CUP. NO WARNING PRIOR TO FAILURE RESULTING TO ON ROAD ACCIDENT. FRONT TYRE AND BRAKING SYSTEM DAMAGED. STRUT DAMAGED, CHASIS CROOKED, FRONT AXLE DAMAGED. (2) FREQUENT FRONT BRAKE VIBRATIONS, CHANGED OVER TEN TIMES. *AK
