TAKATA RECALL. ON MARCH 29TH 2015 I WAS INVOLVED IN A AUTO ACCIDENT. AS A RESULT OF THAT ACCIDENT, I SUFFERED A BROKEN WRIST, BROKEN JAW, AND THE LOSS OF MY LEFT EYE. ALL OF THESE INJURIES WERE THE RESULT OF MY VEHICLES AIRBAG SYSTEM. IN THE ACCIDENT, NONE OF MY WINDOWS WERE BROKEN, THERE WERE NO LOOSE ITEMS IN THE VEHICLE. THE ONLY THING IN THE VEHICLE THAT HIT ME WAS THE AIRBAG AND ITS IS THE ONLY THING WHICH HAD BLOOD ON IT IN THE VEHICLE. I WAS WEARING MY SEATBELT AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY (ATLANTIC CITY EXPRESSWAY) WHEN A TURNPIKE COMMISSION VEHICLE MADE A U-TURN AND TURNED UP IN FRONT OF ME LEADING TO THE ACCIDENT. MY VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING ON A FLAT HIGHWAY AT NIGHT, ON A STRAIGHT SECTION OF ROAD AT THAT TIME. I WAS THEN TRAPPED INSIDE MY VEHICLE FOR AN HOUR UNTIL RESCUE WORKERS HAD TO CUT ME OUT SO THAT I COULD BE FLOWN TO THE NEAREST TRAUMA UNIT. MY YEAR VEHICLE IS ALSO THE SAME YEAR THAT ALL OTHER CHEVY VEHICLES (AVALANCHE, SILVERADO LD/HD, TAHOE, AND SUBURBON) ON THE RECALL STARTED WHICH IS 2007. MY CHEVY EQUINOX WHICH IS ALSO IN THEIR SUV / TRUCK LINEUP IS NO DIFFERENT FROM THOSE AND USED THE SAME AIRBAG, TAKATA.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A CONCRETE EMBANKMENT TO AVOID COLLIDING WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER AND LEFT ARM THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A TOW LOT. THE CONTACT CALLED ALLEN TILLERY AUTO (LOCATED AT 4573 CENTRAL AVE, HOT SPRING, AR 71913, (501) 881-4160) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIR BAG SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED SINCE IT WAS JUST INSTALLED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
"TAKATA RECALL" STABILITY TRACTION CONTROL INDICATOR LIGHTS. NO WARNING FOR BRAKE PROBLEM. THE BRAKES LOCKED UP AND WOULDN'T STOP OR SLOW THE CAR BEFORE ENTERING A CURVE ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY.
MY WIFE'S EQUINOX WAS TRAVELING AT AROUND 45 MPH WHEN AXLE BROKE AND CAUSED HER TO CRASH HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE CAUSING MINIMAL DAMAGE TO IT, THEN IT WEN DOWN A 10 FT EMBANKMENT AND HIT A CONCRETE WALL HEAD ON. SHE HAD TO BE CUT OUT OF VEHICLE AND CAR WAS TOTALED. THE AXLE BROKE IN HALF. WE BELIEVE THAT THIS CONTRIBUTED TO THE ACCIDENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT WAS SITTING AT A TRAFFIC STOP WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO HIS REAR. THE IMPACT ABRUPTLY PUSHED THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE FORWARD, CAUSING HIM TO CRASH INTO THE PRECEDING VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR NECK AND BACK INJURIES, THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE PASSENGER SUSTAINED FACIAL LACERATIONS FROM THE SHATTERED REAR WINDOW AND THE DRIVER OF THE SECOND VEHICLE SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES TO THE NECK. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX . THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, A VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUFFERED INJURIES TO THE HEAD AND KNEES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM THE SCENE AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND FILED A CLAIM IN REGARD TO THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHY THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
I HAD TOLD THE CHEVY DEALER THE AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT STATES "WARNING PLEASE SERVICE" THEY TOLD ME IT WAS AN OLD CODE. A FEW MONTHS LATER I READENDED ANOTHER DRIVER AND MY AIRBAGS DID NOT OPEN UP. THEY DID CRACK BECAUSE I FELT THE BURN ON MY ARMS. YET, I'M BEING TOLD IT WAS AN OLD CODE AND THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THEM. NOW THE LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME AND NO ONE WILL LISTEN TO ME. I'M AFRAID THERE COULD BE A MALFUNCTION AND IT COULD HURT ME OR MY FAMILY, BUT NO ONE WILL LISTEN TO ME. *TR
I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT WERE I STRUCK TWO HORSES THAT RUN OUT INTO THE HIGHWAY IN FRONT OF ME IN MY 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX LSI. THE FIRST HORSE STRUCK MY PASSENGERSIDE FRONT QUARTER PANEL AND THIS CAUSED ME TO SWERVE INTO ANOTHER HORSE ON THE DRIVER SIDE. I WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH AND THE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF MY CAR WAS VERY SERIOUS AND MY COMPLAINT IS THAT THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED DURING THE CRASH. I KNOW THAT THE AIRBAGS ARE SET OF BY SPECIFIC SPEEDS AND DAMAGE BUT MY WHOLE FRONT OF MY 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX LS WAS NEARLY REMOVED. I WAS WEARING MY SAFETY BELT AND IT OFFERED LITTLE HELP SINCE I WAS HIT TWICE FROM OPPOSITE SIDES. I WAS TOLD BY RESPONDING EMERGENCY CREW THAT THE AIRBAG MUST HAVE BEEN FAULTY SINCE IT DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR
I WAS IN AN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT 1/17/08, STOPPED TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN AND WAS STRUCK FROM BEHIND, PUSHED INTO THE OPPOSING LANE AND THEN STRUCK IN THE FRONT BY A SMALL BUS. MY VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. I AM CONCERNED THAT WITH THE AMOUNT OF IMPACT FROM THE REAR RIGHT AND FRONTAL COLLISIONS, THAT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *CN
FUEL PUMP LEAK - AGAIN - STILL NO FLORIDA RECALL - EVEN THOUGH OTHER STATES HAVE RECALLED FOR SAME LEAK! *TR
The ECM in my vehicle appears to have an intermittent failure that can cause it to send the vehicle into WOT at any time at random. I was stopped at a traffic signal. It turned green, I let off the brake and my vehicle learched forward for a second, and then, all of a sudden launched into and hit the vehicle in front of me. I tried to push down the brakes, but they were too stiff, and, no, my foot did not even get a chance to press the gas yet. There was only minor damage to my vehicle, however, the situation was extremely scary. I have since changed out the ECM and have had no issues since. I have seen this issue once before on a similar vehicle, except, what happened with that is the vehicle was in a garage, and the ECM had failed nearly completely and stuck the vehicle in WOT. In my case, I was still able to drive the vehicle home, so the issue appeared to me intermittent. I still have the original ECM for further investigation. As I understand it, this ECM is in thousands of GM vehicles, across multiple lines. GM Part Number: 12611090.
AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT AT ROUGHLY 20 MILES AN HOUR IN A 2007 CHEVY EQUINOX MOSTLY FRONT END AND DRIVER SIDE DAMAGE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. MAJOR FRONT END DAMAGE SUSTAINED. *TR
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while driving at 60 MPH, The contact heard a bell noise ringing from the vehicle. The contact the vehicle was running hot so the contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and open the hood and check coolant and waited a few minutes for the vehicle to cool down before restarting the vehicle and driving to their residence. The contact took the vehicle to a independent mechanic shop where they inspected the vehicle and diagnosed the failure the clips connected the fan was burnt so they replaced the part, however the failure persisted. The mechanic has replaced the thermostat the heat sensor and change out anti freeze and put a new fan motor. to fix the failure, but the failure still persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 177,003.

A LOCAL MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE FUEL TANK. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED, BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 106,000.

THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS LEAKING AND WAS DRIPPING ONTO THE EXHAUST PIPE, CAUSING SMOKE TO ESCAPE FROM THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
I HAVE HAD CONTINUOUS PROBLEMS WITH BRAKE LIGHTS AND TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS GOING OUT.. OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS MY HEADLIGHTS HAVE BEEN GETTING STUCK IN THE BRIGHT POSITION, NOW YESTERDAY ON MY DRIVE HOME SMOKE STARTED COMING FROM BETWEEN MY STEERING WHEEL AND THE DASH; DURING THIS THE BLUE BRIGHT LIGHT INDICATOR WAS FLASHING. I PULLED OVER AND EXITED THE CAR. THE SMOKE DISSIPATED VERY QUICKLY AND CONTINUED THE SHORT DISTANCE HOME WITH NO MORE PROBLEMS... I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHO SAID IT SOUNDED LIKE I HAD WIRES "TOUCHING" THEY WANT ME TO BRING IT IN HOWEVER MY WARRANTY IS UP, AND I AM ON A LIMITED INCOME. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING CONSIDERING IT SOUNDS LIKE A MANUFACTURE PROBLEM. *TR

THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER SUSTAINED AN ABRASION TO THE NECK THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL TREATMENT. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER (JD BYRIDER, 20941 EUCLID AVE, EUCLID OH) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
VEHICLE HEATS UP AND CAUSES WATER HOSES TO OVER HEAT AND BUST UP. THIS CAN CAUSE A SERIOUS BURN INJURY. APPARENTLY THIS IS A PROBLEM CAUSES BECAUSE OF THE HEAD GASKETS THAT WERE USED.THE GASKETS GET DAMAGED AND START CAUSING THE LINES TO FILL UP WITH AIR CAUSING ALOT OF PRESSURE TO.MOTOR AND THEN OVER HEATS.ALL THE LINES THAT BRING WATER TO THE MOTER BUSTED AND VEHICLE WASNT EVEN SHOWING TO BE HOT. VEHICLE STILL WORKS BUT CANT BE USED BECAUSE IT OVERHEATS. LINES WERE REPLACED TWICE BUT WILL BUST IF TRUCK IS TURNED ON . HAVE READ ONLINE THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO SEVEREL OWNERS BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. HAVE ALSO XONTACTED CHEVROLET BUT THEY SAID THEY CANT DO ANYTHING YET. WE WERE ON EXPRESSWAY GOING HOME
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN OVERPOWERING GASOLINE ODOR PRESENT INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE ODOR WAS SO SEVERE THAT IT WOULD CAUSE THE CONTACT TO BECOME NAUSEOUS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THEY ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A FUEL LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE MODULE KIT AND THE GASKET FOR THE FUEL TANK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 94,506. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 95,256.
