TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START WITHOUT WARNING. WALLY EDGAR CHEVROLET (3805 S LAPEER RD, ORION CHARTER TOWNSHIP, MI 48360, 248-494-8698) WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD BE COVERED UNDER A POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. THE CONTACT PURCHASED AN ELECTRICAL BOX FROM THE DEALER TO REPAIR THE ENGINE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THE BOX DID NOT ASSIST WITH THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN FOUR DAYS LATER WITHOUT WARNING. SINCE OWNING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT HAS HAD THE ENGINE, FUEL PUMP, ELECTRIC LINE, DOORS, AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WHILE AT A STOP SIGN, DURING RAINY WEATHER, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED. THE CONSUMER CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE BEGAN SMOKING. THE CONSUMER HAD HEADACHES, BACK/NECK/SHOULDER PAINS, AND WHIPLASH. *JS
I WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC WHEN THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED ABRUPTLY IN FRONT OF ME. I READ ENDED HIM GOING ABOUT 40 MILES PER HOUR. MY AIR BAGS DID NOT INFLATE. I EXITED THE CAR AND BEGAN SPEAKING WITH THE OTHER DRIVER WHEN WE HEARD A POP IN MY CAR. SMOKE STARTING COMING OUT OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THEN ALMOST IMMEDIATELY MY CAR ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE CAR WAS NOT RUNNING. I INJURED MY KNEE AND SHOULDER IN THE INCIDENT.
Accident April 26, 2021 where our vehicle was hit "Straight on Front Left" and seat belt tensioner did not restrain the passenger & "Air Bag did not deploy". Request EDR (Event Data Recorder) be scanned to determine what happened and how the car systems functioned or did not function properly. Driver suffered head trauma as a result of the accident. Please advise on action needed to follow up on this malfunction.

THERE WERE NO INJURIES FROM THE DEPLOYMENT. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. SUDDENLY, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO THE GUARDRAIL. THE CONTACT SUFFERED HEAD INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY WHEN INVOLVED IN CAR ACCIDENT ON 11/25/2016
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH IN THE LEFT LANE OF THREE LANE TRAFFIC, A SEMI-TRUCK MERGED FROM THE MIDDLE LANE TO THE LEFT LANE AND CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE SPUN AROUND AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT WAS KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS AND RECEIVED EXTENSIVE MEDICAL TREATMENT. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE WRISTS, BACK, AND NECK AND HAD A CT SCAN FOR LOWER BACK PAINS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE CRASH. THE INSURANCE COMPANY TOWED THE VEHICLE TO A YARD. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHY THE AIR BAGS HAD NOT DEPLOYED AND THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,070.

THE EMERGENCY ONSTAR SYSTEM RESPONDED AND CALLED THE POLICE AND AMBULANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A COLLISON CENTER WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE HEAD, NECK, BACK, AND HANDS. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.
ON AUGUST 21,2015 I WAS COMING HOME WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD I ENTERED A CURVE AND MY STEERING WHEEL DID NOT TURN WITH THE CURVE MY CAR CONTINUED GOING STRAIGHT I HAD NO CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND I TRIED TO BRAKE AND THE BRAKES DID NOT STOP THE CAR SO I WENT INTO THE DITCH WRECKING MY CAR IT WAS TOTALED AND I WAS HURT THE CAR WAS TOTALED THE CHEVROLET DEALER TOLD ME TO BRING THE CAR IN AND THEY WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM AT NO CHARGE THEY HAD A SPECIAL WARRANTY FUND TO COVER THE COST OF REPAIR OF THE STEERING PROBLEM THERE HAD BEEN OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM--NEEDLESS TO SAY MY TOTALLY WRECKED CAR COULD NOT BE BROUGHT TO THE DEALER --I WAS TOLD TO CALL ROADSIDE SERVICE TO TOW IT IN AND FIX THE PROBLEM--A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED ON THE POWER STEERING AND THE BRAKE SYSTEM--I COULD OF BEEN KILLED AND AT THE AGE OF 71 YEARS VERY THANKFUL THAT GOD WAS WITH ME AND SAVED MY LIFE THANK YOU --GOD BLESS!!! AS I APPROACHED AN INTERSECTION, I HIT THE REAR END OF A FORD 150 PICK UP TRUCK THAT WAS IN THE INTERSECTION WAITING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. MY APPROX SPEED WAS 15 MILES PER HOUR. I HAD MY SEATBELT ON, I WAS TAKEN BY AMBULANCE TO THE HOSPITAL - MY EVALUATION REVEALED SPRAIN/STRAIN TO MY NECK, FRACTURED RIGHT ANKLE, AND CHEST WALL DISCOMFORT RELATED TO THE SEAT BELT. THE CAR WAS TOTALED --- THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR
ON JAN 17TH,2011 MY VEHICLE WAS WRECKED BY THE DEALER ON SITE OF DEALERSHIP. THE WHOLE FRONT END WAS CAVED IN ON CENTER. THE DRIVER A MECHANIC AT DON WOODS CHEVROLET WAS DRIVING AT A HIGHER THEN NORMAL SPEED. HE HIT A POLE DEAD CENTER AND THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER WAS INJURED TO WHAT EXTENT I AM NOT SURE, BUT I AM NOT WANTING THIS CAR BACK FEELING THE AIRBAG MAY DEPLOY AT ANYTIME DUE TO THE HIT IT TOOK OR IT ISN'T SAFE AND WILL NOT DEPLOY UPON AN ACCIDENT. *TR
WE WERE DRIVING TO THE AIRPORT, CAME OUT OF CONSTRUCTION ONTO UPHILL PART OF HIGHWAY. I WAS ACCELERATING AND HEARD A "POP".THOUGHT A TIRE BLEW, SAW WHITE SMOKE ON THE SIDES OF THE CAR AND PULLED OVER. MY BOYFRIEND GOT OUT IMMEDIATELY TO LOOK FOR A BLOWN TIRE. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK, SHUT OFF THE IGNITION AND BLACK SMOKE BEGAN POURING INTO THE CAR. I KNEW THERE WAS NOT A BLOWN TIRE AND YELLED FOR BOYFRIEND TO HELP GET OUR TWO YOUNG CHILDREN OUT OF THE CAR. OPENED THE BACK DOOR AND COULDN'T SEE THE KIDS DUE TO ALL OF THE BLACK SMOKE AND ENTIRE FRONT END WAS ON FIRE WITHIN SECONDS. I GOT THE KIDS TO SAFETY AND THE CAR PROCEEDED TO BLOW UP THREE SEPARATE TIMES IN WELL UNDER 10 MINUTES. THE MAN DRIVING BEHIND US HELPED AND STATED TO ME THAT FUEL WAS LEAKING FROM THE CAR WHILE HE DROVE BEHIND US PRIOR TO THE "POP" WE HEARD. IT WAS A TOTAL LOSS, NO POLICE REPORT DESPITE HIGHWAY BEING SHUT DOWN FOR A HOUR AND DETECTIVES SHOWING UP LATER. INSURANCE COMPANY WASN'T GOING TO INVESTIGATE, I GOT GM INVOLVED AND NOW THEY MIGHT. WAS GIVEN A CASE # BY GM, CALLED TWICE, NO RESPONSE BACK FOR 6 DAYS. I WANT TO KNOW THE CAUSE OF THIS. 5 YEAR OLD PERFECTLY MAINTAINED CARS WITH NO WARNING SHOULD NOT CATCH FIRE AND BLOW UP. I SAW AN ARTICLE ABOUT A MAN IN CONNECTICUT WITH A SIMILAR INCIDENT AND HIS WAS RELATED TO A REGIONAL RECALL THAT DID NOT INCLUDE THAT STATE. I LIVE IN WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA AND QUESTION IF THIS COULD BE ASSOCIATED. THE CAR COULD HAVE KILLED OUR CHILDREN AND HARMED INNOCENT PEOPLE ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. WE WERE FORTUNATE TO HAVE GOOD PEOPLE HELP US AND REACT SO QUICKLY. THE STATE POLICE OFFICER HAD US LEAVE IMMEDIATELY TO CATCH OUR FLIGHT AND TOLD US THERE WAS NOTHING WE COULD DO AND THEY HAD THE CAR TOWED. WE WERE UNABLE TO GET THE NAMES OF TWO MEN THAT HELPED DUE TO SHOCK AND BELIEF THAT THERE WOULD BE A POLICE REPORT.
AS DRIVING NOV 19, 2018. THE CAR STALLED, ENGINE PROBLEM, MY HUSBAND HAD TO PUSH ACROSS THREE LANES OF TRAFFICS ! ALMOST GOT RUN DOWN . FOR NO REASON THE CAR JUST STOPPED RUNNING! WE WERE PUTTING ONE QUART OF OIL PER WEEK?? IN BETWEEN REGULAR OIL CHANGES. THE CAR WAS TOWED, OUR MECHANIC TOLD US ENGIN SEIZED, NEEDED A NEW ENGINE?? WE STILL OWE 3700 ON THE CAR AND IT DOESN'T RUN?? I'M SO MAD THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ON GOING PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL?? GM OWES US A NEW CAR!!
INCIDENT OCCURRED: JUNE 30, 2015 A TRACTOR TRAILER WAS PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE AND PROCEEDED TO COME INTO THE LEFT LANE. I HAD CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED. THE TRUCK CAME OVER ADMITTEDLY AT A SPEED THAT WAS GOING SLOWER THAN THE RATE OF SPEED I HAD ON MY CRUISE CONTROL. WHEN I WENT TO APPLY THE BRAKE, I FELT AS THOUGH MY CAR WAS NOT DECELERATING ENOUGH BASED ON THE PRESSURE I WAS APPLYING TO THE BRAKE. I QUICK CHECKED MY SIDE MIRROR- I WAS UNABLE TO GO AROUND THE DRIVER BECAUSE A CAR WAS NEXT TO ME AND I CHECKED MY REARVIEW MIRROR TO ENSURE I WAS NOT GOING TO BE REAR-ENDED AS WELL- KNOWING I WAS TOO CLOSE AND GOING TO COLLIDE WITH THE TRUCK DRIVER AT THIS POINT. I APPLIED AS MUCH PRESSURE AS I COULD TO THE BRAKES TO DECELERATE BUT UNFORTUNATELY STILL COLLIDED WITH THE DRIVER. MY AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY- DESPITE THIS, IT ALLOWED ME TO SEE MY MIRRORS IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE INCIDENT SO THAT I COULD SAFELY COAST TO THE SHOULDER OF THE PA TURNPIKE WITHOUT DISRUPTING TRAFFIC. MY 2 CONCERNS: WAS BRAKING FAULTY WHEN CRUISE CONTROL IS ENGAGED? ALSO- MY AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.
CHEVY WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND WAS APPROX. 30 FEET BEHIND ANOTHER VEHICLE AND THE DRIVER HAD HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE CHEVY SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, DRIVER TRIED TO STOP VEHICLE BY STEPPING HARDER ON BRAKE PEDAL, HE SWERVED TO THE LEFT TO AVOID HITTING VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HIM, BUT STILL HIT VEHICLE WITH EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE CHEVY. *TR
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously taken to the local dealer for Technical Service Bulletin TSB #: 19-NA-065. While driving at 15 MPH, the vehicle lunged forward; the driver was able to pull over. While attempting to restart the vehicle, it suddenly caught fire. No warning lights were illuminated prior to the failure. AAA was called, and the vehicle was towed to her residence. The occupant called 911, and the fire department was able to extinguish the fire. There were no reported injuries. The local dealer was called, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case. The failure mileage was unknown.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED, AND WAS TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 129,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHEN THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY LOST POWER. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE GUARDS AROUND THE TIMING CHAIN DETACHED CAUSING THE MOTOR FAIL AND THE CADILLAC CONVERTERS TO MELT. THE ENTIRE MOTOR WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FIVE DAYS AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE REPAIRED, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,742.
