I was involved in a car accident where all of the side airbags deployed. On the drivers side just behind the arm rest the airbag that deployed caught on fire and burned all th way through my shirt, jeans and underwear leaving two large burns on my left side. Some areas are 3rd degree.
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AT 9:30 PM ON A STATE HIGHWAY, MY 17 YEAR OLD SON HIT A DEER ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND HE SLOWED DOWN AND PULLED OVER AND SMELLED SMOKE. HE GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND SAW FLAMES. HE IMMEDIATELY CALLED 911 AND HIS MOTHER. THE CAR WAS ON FIRE AND BURNED UNTIL FIRE COMPANY GOT THERE AND PUT THE FIRE OUT. MOST OF THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR UNDER THE HOOD WAS DESTROYED. THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS. MY CONCERN IS THAT CAR SHOULD NEVER HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE. MY SON IS LUCKY HE COULD GET OUT OF THE CAR. HE WAS SHAKEN UP AND GOT WHIPLASH FROM THE IMPACT BUT SEEMS TO BE OK. HOWEVER, MY BRAND NEW 2019 EQUINOX IS NOT OK. I CAN TELL YOU, IF THE CAR HADN'T STARTED ON FIRE, STRUCTURALLY, THERE WASN'T A TON OF DAMAGE. IT COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN REPAIRED. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW THIS HAPPENED?
My wife and I were in our car driving on [XXX] on [XXX] at about 4:30 in the afternoon. I was about three car lengths behind the car in front of me and I was doing 30-32 miles per hour. The brake lights in front of me went to red and I immediately stepped on my brakes but my car would not stop nor slow down causing me to hit the person in front of me. It was a matter of seconds passing but when I hit the back of that car in front of me I had both feet on the brake pedal. My car would not stop. My wife was injured, the young lady that I hit hurt her leg and the back end of her car was destroyed. Our car was totaled. The vehicle is now in possession of AAA auto insurance where I was told the brakes would be looked in to. I will be placing a call to the General Motors customer service to lodge a complaint. There were no warning signs of any type prior to this accident. This car is a 2019 model with only 30,200 miles on it. Component or System Failed: The airbag system failed to deploy during three separate accidents in 2024. The vehicle is still in my possession and available for inspection upon request. How Safety Was Put at Risk: The failure of the airbags to deploy during all three incidents increased the risk of injury to me and my passengers. While the seatbelts provided some protection, the lack of airbag deployment compromised the safety system and could have resulted in serious injuries in higher-severity impacts. Accident Details: 1.Accident #1 (July 2024): •Type: Side collision on the driver’s rear door. •Other Vehicle Speed: Estimated 30–40 mph. •Damage: Significant damage to the driver’s side rear door. •Airbag Deployment: None. •Warnings or Errors: No warning lights or messages before or after the incident. 2.Accident #2 (March 2024): •Type: Sideswipe collision on the passenger front end. •My Vehicle’s Impact: Passenger side front wheel and body. •Damage: The front wheel was severely damaged. •Airbag Deployment: None. •Warnings or Errors: No warning lights or messages before or after the incident. Inspection Status: The issue has not yet been reproduced or confirmed by a Chevrolet dealership or independent service center. Insurance adjusters inspected the vehicle after each accident, but no specific investigation into the airbag system was performed. The manufacturer has not yet inspected the vehicle. Warning Lamps or Symptoms Prior to Failure: There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms.
I was driving down a driveway with a slight incline. I pressed the brakes and they were very hard to press and vehicle would not stop until I collided with a wall. This is the fourth time that this has happened in the last two years. Each time it has been the brake booster vacuum pump which my mechanics have said is a common problem with this vehicle. One of the previous times my daughter was driving on the highway when the brakes failed and she ended up in a ditch off the shoulder. This is very dangerous and someone is going to get killed if it hasn't happened already.

I was approaching and intersection with a red light and I put my foot on the brakes. The car slowed down but then bucked forward three time until I hit the vehicle in front of me. Been driving for 44 years and never experienced anything like it.
Check engine lite want go off low acceleration and. reduce Engine power light came on today .Just got the car in March . Low engine power light came on was on eway and had to pull over . And someone almost hit my kids and I
I was driving exiting a school zone going about 35 mph. As I was coming up on a stop sign my brakes went completely out on my 2019 Chevy Equinox, and to avoid hitting kids walking across the sidewalk I ran into a cement wall to stop my car this morning on 9/21. I had it diagnosed twice and both vendors said it was the Vacuum pump brake and they have been seeing many of these cases. I checked the recall and there isn’t one but over 200+ reviews with this exact issue! This is a huge safety issue! People could of been severely hurt today. I called the dealership and they said I need to not get it fixed and wait to file a claim and call product quality claim.
The brake system failed and my car is now in a salvage lot. I believe the car will remain there only until I submit the car title. While driving in heavy traffic I was unable to make a sudden stop to avoid hitting the car in front of me. I had enough time to stop, but the brakes failed to engage properly. The brakes were very stiff and vibrated or pulsated as I applied the brakes and my car wouldn't stop prior to colliding with the car in front of me. My safety and the occupants in the other car were at risk. The life of a pedestrian, if involved, could have resulted in death. Luckily, there were no serious injuries and exterior damage appeared minimal but my car suffered serious internal damage. I was not able to confirm the problem with the dealership. My phone calls were not returned. I also contacted Chevrolet and now waiting for a follow-up call. The car was only inspected by the insurance appraiser, who deemed my car a total loss because the car frame was cracked on both sides, air condenser damage, exterior damage plus more. The insurance co. had my car towed to a holding parking lot for salvage. My greatest concern is if this had been a situation where I was unable to stop suddenly to avoid hitting a pedestrian and killed someone! The appraiser suspected the air bag sensor might have failed since the impact was hard enough to crack the car frame. Seven days prior to the accident I had rear brakes and roters replaced at a Chevrolet dealership. They also looked into a warning message on my dash - Service brake assist system. I was told nothing was wrong with that.
THE ENTIRE AXLE CAME OFF UPON HITTING A CURVE. THE TIRE DID NOT POP BUT THE ENTIRE WHEEL CAME OFF. THE INSURANCE COMPANY IS HUNTING FOR REFURBISHED PARTS TO PUT ON THE CAR.
I WAS IN THE DRIVEWAY AT MY HOME GETTING READY TO LEAVE FOR CHURCH, I WAS PULLING FORWARD BEFORE I BACKED UP THINKING I MIGHT BE TOO CLOSE TO THE GATES. WHEN I MOVED FORWARD WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO JUST CREEP ALONG, THE ENGINE REVVED UP TO AN ASTROMICAL SPEED. I WAS HEAD TOWARD MY SON'S TRUCK. I STEERED AWAY BUT CAUGHT THE BUMPER OF AN F350 . MY CAR IS TOTALLY DESTROYED. I KNOCKED THE TRUCK OVER TWO FEET FROM WHERE IT WAS SITTING AND PUSHED IT WITHIN ONE OR TWO INCHES OF GOING THROUGH MY HOUSE WHERE MY SON WAS ASLEEP IN THE RECLINER. BEFORE I HIT THE BRICK POST HOLDING UP ONE END OF MY CAR PORT, I WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE CAR INTO PARK AND STOP IT. THE HILL ASSIST LIGHT WAS ON WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE CAR. I WAS GOING DOWN A SLIGHT INCLINE AND NOT UP A HILL. MY DRIVE IS ONLY ABOUT 20-25 FEET AND THE CAR WAS GOING AT AN ALARMING RATE. FORTUNATELY, I WAS JUST BRUISED AND SORE FROM THE IMPACT.
