MY TRUCK ENDED UP ROLLING OVER 3 TIMES DOWN A HILL BEFORE STOPPING. I WANT TO KNOW IF THE BRAKE ISSUE I WAS READING ABOUT UNDER YOUR INVESTIGATION WITH THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH HE DEPRESSED THE BRAKES AND CRASHED INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HIM. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER SUSTAINED A LACERATED SPLEEN AND CONTUSION OF THE HEART. A COMPLAINT WAS SUBMITTED TO THE MANUFACTURER (COMPLAINT # 71-546827970). CHEVY SILVERADO Z71 4X4 IN NOVEMBER 2005, I HAD AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE ABS NOT FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY, WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE LIGHTLY APPLYING MY BRAKES THE ABS STARTED TO CHATTER AND I COULD NOT STOP FAST ENOUGH AND HIT A LIGHT POLL WITH THE RIGHT SIDE FENDER AND BUMPER. I GOT OUT TO LOOK TO SEE WHY I SLID, BUT THE SURFACE WAS CLEAN AND DRY. I WAS PUZZLED, ON THE DRIVE HOME IT HAPPENED AGAIN THIS TIME COMING TO A STOP AND AGAIN LIGHTLY APPLYING THE BRAKES THE ABS SHUTTERED, THIS TIME STOPPING INTO CROSS INTERSECTION TRAFFIC. I WAS NOW SCARED AND THE SLOWER I DROVE THE WORSE IT WAS, I APPROACHED A SCHOOL ZONE IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND A CHILD RAN ACCROSS THE STREET AND AGAIN I BRAKED BUT I COULD NOT STOP QUICK ENOUGH AND STRUCK THIS CHILD, NOT SERIOUSLY BUT ENOUGH TO KNOCK HIM DOWN. I GOT HOME PARKED THE TRUCK AND HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT SINCE. I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT TO THE SHOP BECAUSE LAST YEAR I SPENT A LOT OF MONEY AT THE CHEVY DEALER GETTING A COMPLETE BRAKE JOB, AND SEVERAL SERVICE ITEMS COSTING THOUSANDS AND I WAS JUST TAPPED OUT AND I FIGURED I WOULD WAIT TILL I GET SOME MONEY. I HEARD THE OTHER NIGHT ON THE NEWS ABOUT A RECALL ON THIS VERY ISSUE SO I CONTACTED MY DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT MY VIN NUMBER [XXX] IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL FOR THE ABS SPEED SENSOR PROBLEM. DT: THE CONTACT'S SON WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON 6-17-05. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A COPY OF THE CRASH REPORT. UPON IMPACT, NEITHER AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE HIT SEVERAL TREES. THE POLICE REPORT STATED THE SPEED LIMIT WAS 55 MPH. THE PASSENGER'S HEAD WENT THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD, BUT PASSENGER WAS NOT SERIOUSLY HURT. NEITHER THE DRIVER NOR THE PASSENGER HAD TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL. THE CONTACT REPORTED THAT AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED IN THE CAR PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. THE INSURANCE COMPANY HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. THE TRUCK WAS TOTALED. THE CONTACT TOOK PICTURES OF THE PINE TREE THAT WAS EMBEDDED IN THE HOOD. UPDATED 11/15/05. *JB
DT: CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT ON SEPTEMBER 11, 2005 WHILE DRIVING 50-55 MPH. IT WAS A HEAD ON COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONSUMER HAD NOT CONTACTED THE DEALER OR MANUFACTURER. *AK
I WAS DRIVING ON A FOUR LANE INTERSTATE IN CRUISE CONTROL GOING 70 MPH. SUDDENLY I WAS GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY SIDEWAYS. I SLID OFF THE ROAD AND HIT A HIGHWAY SIGN WHICH SLOWED ME AND MUST HAVE JARRED SOMETHING BECAUSE THEN I COULD USE MY BRAKES AND ALL FOUR OF THEM SEEMED TO WORK. I SMASHED THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AND ROCKER PANEL AND OTHER DAMAGE, PROBABLY BENT THE RIM ON A TIRE, HAD CUTS ON BOTH HANDS AND HAD TO TAKE MY DOGS AND CAT TO THE VET AS THEY WERE IN SHOCK. I WAS ABOUT 130 TO 150 MILES FROM HOME AND THANKS TO FRIENDS WAS ABLE TO GET HOME THAT EVENING. THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP I HAD IT TOWED TO, SAID THEY COULD FIND NO REASON FOR THE REAR WHEELS TO LOCK. BUT ACCORDING TO THE DPS OFFICER THAT IS WHAT THEY SEEMED TO DO. *NM

OFF CENTER HEAD ON CRASH WITH 2 SIMILAR 2000 CHEVY SILVERADO EXTENDED CAB PICK UP TRUCKS. ESTIMATED IMPACT SPEED 90 MPH ( 60 MPH VEHICLE 2, 30 MPH VEHICLE 1 PER CHP REPORT) NO AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT OF EITHER VEHICLE.
I WAS IN A HEAD ON COLLISION AND RECEIVED A COMPOUND FRACTURE TO MY RIGHT FEMUR BONE, 2 BLACK EYES AND FRACTURED RIBS DUE TO THE INACTIVATION OF THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGER AIRBAG MODULES, ALSO THE STEERING WHEEL BENT RESEMBLING AN AIRPLANE WHEEL. MY WIFE CHECKED THE INTERNET AFTER THE INCIDENT AND FOUND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE AIRBAG MODULE ON THE YEAR OF MY 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO TRUCK. WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED OF THIS BEFORE THE INCIDENT, BUT ARE CURRENTLY RECEIVING UPDATES TODAY. DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED OF THIS. THE TRUCK IS NOW IN A STORAGE YARD AND WE ARE AWAITING THE RESPONSE FROM THE INSURANCE ADJUSTOR.
RECALL CAMPAIGN 02V078 00 CONCERNING AIR BAG SENSING MODULE. CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A REAR END COLLISION, IT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE IN FRONT AT 50 MPH. UPON IMPACT, NEITHER FRONTAL AIR BAG DEPLOYED. CONSUMER SUSTAINE DINJURIES, AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE LOCAL HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED. *AK
THE EVENT WAS A CAR PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME WHICH STILL HIT THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF MY VEHICLE (2000 CHEVY SILVERADO). THEN MY TRUCK HAD A FULL FRONTAL IMPACT AT GREATER THAN 30 MPH INTO A DIRT WALL IN WHICH NEITHER THE DRIVER'S NOR PASSENGER'S AIRBAGS DEPLOYED (THE TRUCK IS TOTALLED). I HIT THE STEERING WHEEL AND GOT A CONCUSSION WITH BLOOD AROUND THE BRAIN, A BROKE CHEEK BONE, AND FRACTURED HIP. MY WIFE WAS 33 WEEKS PREGANANT AT THE TIME AND HER WATER BROKE AND SHE GOT A COMPOUND FRACTURE IN THE LOWER LEG/ANKLE. AS A RESULT OF THE WATER BREAKING MY SON WAS BORN 3 DAYS LATER 7 WEEKS PREMATURE. AS FOR WHAT WAS DONE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM I'M HOPING IT WILL AT LEAST BE INVESTIGATED TO MAKE SURE THIS IS NOT A SYSTEMIC PROBLEM (I.E. SOFTWARE SCREWUP SOMETHING NOT HOOKED UP RIGHT IN THE AIRBAG SYSTEM ETC). I HAVE PICS OF THE TRUCK AND THE CRASH SITE I CAN SEND IF NECESSARY. I CAN ALSO PROVIDE THE LOCATION OF THE TRUCK SO IT CAN BE INSPECTED.*AK
MY ABS HAS BEEN ACTING UP, I.E. ENGAGING WHEN IT SHOULDN'T. TONIGHT, I WAS FORCED TO COME TO A FAST STOP AND PUSHED THE BRAKE IN. THE ABS ENGAGED, BUT THEN STOPPED AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, THEREFORE I HAD NO BRAKES. I REAR-ENDED ANOTHER CAR WITH A 17 YEAR OLD GIRL DRIVING. SHE ENDED UP BEING TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. I AM CURIOUS TO KNOW IF THERE ARE OTHER CASES SUCH AS THIS, INCLUDING BRAKE FAILURE AND ABS PROBLEMS. MY VEHICLE IS A 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. I HAVE 106,000 MILES ON IT AND HAVE HAD MINUTE BRAKING ISSUES FOR THE PAST YEAR OR SO. I HOPE THAT IS THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT IT CAN BE ADDRESSED. THAT WAY NO MORE SEVENTEEN YEAR OLD GIRLS GET HURT, AND NO MORE 26 YEAR OLD MALES (MYSELF) HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THEM OR THE SAFETY OF OTHERS DUE TO THIS TYPE OF FAILURE. AS FAR AS THE QUESTION ABOUT OEM, IF THAT MEANS AFTERMARKET EQUIPMENT, THEN NO, ALL MY EQUIPMENT CAME ON THE VEHICLE WHEN I PURCHASED IT AND NOTHING HAS BEEN ALTERED IN ANY WAY.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 45-55 MPH CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS REAR-END BY A TRACTOR TRAILER. PUSHING CONSUMER'S VEHICLE OFF ROAD AND INTO A DITCH, FRONT END FIRST. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *AK BOTH THE DRIVER AND THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES. THE DRIVER INJURED HIS NECK, BACK, HIPS AND PELVIS. THE PASSENGER INJURED HER RIGHT SHOULDER, CHEST, BACK AND HIPS.
WHILE DRIVING AT 10 MPH CONSUMER WAS PULLING INTO DRIVEWAY AND VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. CONSUMER WAS STANDING ON THE BRAKES WITH BOTH FEET BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT SLOW DOWN, AND IT COLLIDED WITH THE SIDE OF THE HOUSE. CONSUMER SUSTAINED ANKLE AND THE LOWER BACK INJURIES. *AK
I REARENDED A VEHICLE THAT WAS SITTING STILL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, I WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 40-45 MPH, AND NEITHER AIR BAG DEPLOYED. I WAS SHIFTED IN THE VEHICLE AND HAVE KNEE AND BACK PROBLEMS. *LA
