DT: NOT HAD A BRAKE PROBLEM UNTIL APPLIED BRAKE PRESSURE. WHILE DRIVING HOME SAW ROAD CONSTRUCTION AND HIT BRAKES AND SLID TO WHAT SEEMED A LONG WAY. FELT THERE WAS EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. THIS WAS THE FIRST INCIDENT OF THIS TYPE. THIS DID RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT, STRIKING VEHICLE IN FRONT. NO REPAIRS. ONE PERSON DIED AS A RESULT OF THIS ACCIDENT. CONSUMER FELT BRAKES CONTRIBUTED TO THIS ACCIDENT. *AK
DEATH WAS THE RESULT OF A CRASH INVOLVING A 2004 SILVERADO TRUCK, DUALLY. MY SON, GENE, DECEASED OWNER, WAS RETURNING HOME WHEN TRUCK SKIDDED AND ROLLED OVER AT LEAST TWICE, KILLING HIM. I THINK THERE MAY HAVE BEEN A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES OR POWER STEERING, BUT AM NOT SURE HOW TO PROCEED WITH THIS. I HOPE YOU CAN HELP IN SOME WAY. GENE'S WORK WAS ON THE ROAD, AND HE LIVED ON THE ROAD. ALTHOUGH ALCOHOL WAS A FACTOR IN THE CRASH , HIS MOTHER SPOKE TO HIM WITHIN THE HOUR OF HIS DEATH AND HE DID NOT SEEM VERY INTOXICATED. *AK
FATAL CRASH. ENTIRE LEFT SIDE OF VEHICLE RIPPED OFF INCLUDING DRIVER DOOR. TRUCK FLIPPED ALSO. HIT 4 TREES. SPEED LIMIT WAS 65 IN THE AREA THEY BELIEVE THE VEHICLE TO BE MOVING A LITTLE OVER THE SPEED LIMIT. AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED NONE OF THEM. THE IMPACT TOTALED THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE BRAKING FOR A TRAFFIC STOP, THE BRAKES ABNORMALLY TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD AND THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A PEDESTRIAN. THE PEDESTRIAN WAS INJURED AND TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC, WHERE IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE ENTIRE BRAKE LINE WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER PARKING AND EXITING THE VEHICLE, SHE HEARD AN ABNORMAL CLICKING NOISE AS THE VEHICLE STARTED TO ROLL AWAY IN REVERSE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVER'S DOOR OPENED AND SLAMMED HER TO THE GROUND, TRAVELING OVER BOTH OF HER LEGS. THE VEHICLE THEN CRASHED INTO A FENCE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO THE NERVES AND ARTERIES OF HER LEGS. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 154,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 58 MPH, THE CONTACT SLID ON A PATCH OF ICE AND LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE RAN OFF THE ROAD AND CRASHED INTO A TELEPHONE POLL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE VEHICLE STOPPED WHEN IT CRASHED INTO A FROZEN EMBANKMENT. UPON IMPACT, THE FRONT AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY EVEN THOUGH THE CONTACT MADE IMPACT WITH THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER, BUT THE COMPLAINT WAS DENIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, AFTER INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE, THE MANUFACTURER CONFIRMED THAT THE AIR BAGS WERE ENABLED AT THE TIME OF IMPACT. THEY DID NOT GIVE AN EXPLANATION FOR THE DEPLOYMENT FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 180,000. UPDATED 09/03/08 *BF UPDATED 09/04/08. *JB
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PANEL GAUGES WORK SPORADIC, OR NOT AT ALL. SPEEDOMETER READS OVER 120 MPH ALL THE TIME, AND GAS GAUGE DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. I HAVE NOT REPAIRED THEM YET BECAUSE OF COST ($500+ LABOR AND PROGRAMMING FEES). *TR
I WAS DRIVING UP TP A STOP LIGHT WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED RED THERE WAS A CAR IN FRONT OF ME THAT HAD STOPPED, I REALIZED I DIDN'T HAVE A LOT OF ROOM BUT THOUGHT IT WOULD BE ENOUGH TO STOP. I PUT THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND STILL HIT THEM TWO PEOPLE WERE INJURED. *TR THEN ON 9/8/07 AND A DEER RAN OUT IIN FRONT OF ME, AGAIN MY FOOT TO THE FLOOR I HIT THE DEER. 1ST I WAS SUPRISED THAT MY AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY (REALLY TORE UP THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK) AND 2ND I SHOULD OF BEEN ABLE TO SLOW DOWN IN TIME. AFTER READING ALL OF THE ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES ON CHEVYS AND NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT, I THINK ITS TIME TO LOOK FOR A DIFFERENT CAR COMPANY.

SEAT BELTS WERE IN USE HOWEVER BACK AND NECK INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE IMPACT WAS SO SEVERE; BOTH PASSENGER TIRES CAME OFF THE RIMS AND DUG INTO THE PAVEMENT. THE POLICE WERE ON SCENE AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALER, UPON INSPECTION NO DETERMINATION COULD BE MADE WHY THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED. I HAD AN ACCIDENT IN MY 2004 CHEVY TRUCK AT A SPEED OF APPROX 80 MPH HEAD ON IMPACT. THE TRUCK WAS TOTALED BUT MY AIR BAGS DIDN'T WORK. I MADE A COMPLAINT TO GMAC, THEY HAD AN INVESTIGATION AND ACCORDING TO THEM THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE AIR BAGS. I FIND THAT HARD TO BELIEVE WITH THAT KIND OF IMPACT, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I HAVE 2001 CHEVY SUBURBAN THAT MY WIFE DRIVES WITH MY CHILDREN. CAN YOU PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS BECAUSE I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW GMAC IS NOT TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE AIR BAG FAILURE. WHILE DRIVING ON SLICK ROADS MY TRUCK WENT OFF THE ROAD, DOWN A HILL AND CRASHED INTO AN EMBANKMENT. THE ENTIRE FRONT END WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED. THE FRAME WAS BENT, THE BUMPER WAS WRAPPED UP UNDER THE FENDER, GRILL GUARD PUSHED INTO THE RADIATOR. UPON IMPACT NEITHER OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. MY FACE SLAMMED INTO THE STEERING WHEEL BREAKING MY NOSE. TRUCK SALVAGED. *JB
ON JAN. 10 OF 2006 I LOST CONTROL OF MY 2004 CHEVY SILVERADO WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON ICY ROAD. I HIT A CONCRETE DIVIDER HEAD ON. MY CONCERN IS THAT THE AIR BAG NEVER DEPLOYED EVEN THOUGH THE DAMAGE TO THE TRUCK WAS QUITE BIG. I WAS GIVEN A ESTIMATE OF $9820 OF DAMAGE BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THE BODY FRAME. EVEN WITH ALL THIS DAMAGE MY AIRBAG NEVER DEPLOYED. *NM
I PURCHASED A 2004 SILVERADO IN DEC OF 03. I HAD BRAKE PROBLEMS SINCE THE FIRST DAY. THE BRAKE ARE VERY SOFT AND OFTEN THE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR. THE TRUCK JUST WILL NOT STOP SAFELY. I HAVE TAKEN THE TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED IT AND THEY SAY THERE IS NO PROBLEM. BECAUSE OF THE POOR BRAKE SYSTEM I HAD AN ACCIDENT 1 MONTH AFTER BUYING THE TRUCK. *JB
DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE COMPANY TRUCK THAT HE DROVE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. UPON IMPACT, THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO ACCELERATOR GOT STUCK ON START UP, CAUSED ROLLOVER. ONE PERSON INJURED. TOTAL LOSS OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES NOT STOPPING THE VEHICLE. HAD IT IN TWICE FOR THE BRAKES, DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THIS IS THE WAY THERE SUPPOSE TO BE. I KEPT ON COMPLAINING THAT THESE BRAKES WERE NOT RIGHT. EXAMPLE: WHEN I TRIED TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT THE VEHICLE KEPT ON ROLLING, AND I WOULD YELL STOP, STOP. I ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DROPPING AN INCH WHILE STOPPED AT RED LIGHTS. THIS WAS A BRAN NEW VEHICLE. *NM

THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ON INDICATING THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. THE CONTACT STATED ANOTHER VEHICLE LOST CONTROL OF AND HIT THE SIDE OF CONTACT'S VEHICLE, CAUSING IT TO HIT THE CENTER MEDIAN. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND THE MANUFACTURER. *AK
TRAFFIC CAME TO QUICK STOP I DID A RAPID PUSH ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND NOTHING HAPPENED NO BRAKE LOCK AT ALL AND REAR ENDED THE PERSON IN FRONT OF ME, CAUSING MAJOR DAMAGE TO FRONT OF MY VEHICLE AND MY AIR BAG DID NOT EVEN DEPLOY. *JB

TOOK OUT TWO TREES. THIS DAMAGED THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN HOME, AND IS CURRENTLY AT THE AUTO BODY SHOP. THERE HAS BEEN NO DETERMINATION AS TO WHY THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT TAKEN. THE CONSUMER SUSTAINED INJURIES. SHE BRUISED THE CHEST, AND SHE HAD A BULGING DISC I NECK NEAR SPINAL CORD. *AK
DT: A 2004 2500 HD CHEVROLET TRUCK HIT CONSUMER'S SON IN FORD RANGER. THE CHEVROLET MOMENTARILY STOPPED, AND THEN HIT CONSUMER'S SON WITH A LIGHT IMPACT. RECALL ID 05V043000 WAS ISSUED ON BRAKE PROBLEMS & DIFFICULT STEERING. THE TIE ROD END BROKE, AND IT APPEARED THEY WERE NOT WELL BUILT TO BREAK WITH ONLY A LIGHT IMPACT. CONSUMER FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CHEVROLET. THE CHEVROLET DRIVER SUSTAINED CHEST PROBLEMS AND HEART RACING FROM THE ACCIDENT.*AK
