The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe. While the contact's daughter was entering traffic at 65 MPH, the vehicle in front made an abrupt stop. As a result, the contact's daughter was unable to stop the vehicle in time and crashed into the rear of the vehicle. The contact was concerned that no air bags deployed during the impact. In addition, the contact stated that the OnStar feature failed to activate and it was concluded that it was due to the sensors. During the impact, the contact's daughter's head hit the steering wheel and caused an injury in which physical therapy was required on the weekly basis. The vehicle was towed and a police report was filed. The contact also wanted to advise that vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number 21V52000 (Air Bags). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 139,000.
WHILE TRAVELING OUT OF TOWN STABILITRAC DISABLED ENGINE POWER REDUCED ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER SINCE SPEED WAS REDUCED. I HAD TO TURN OFF VEHICLE FOR A FEW MINUTES TO LET THE ECM RESET THE FAULT. I DISTRACTED DRIVER REARENDED THE VEHICLE WHEN I WAS STRANDED WITH MY FAMILY INSIDE THE VEHICLE.

I was involved in an accident last year where I took out a gaurd rail next to a building. My air bags never deployed and now my car will not run.
TAKATA RECALL - I HAVE BEEN CHECKING ON THIS FOR A YEAR AND A REMEDY IS STILL NOT AVAILABLE. I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT APRIL 10 2017 AND THE TAHOE SUSTAINED SIGNIFICANT FRONT AND REAR DAMAGE WHILE STATIONARY. I WAS HIT FROM BEHIND BY A LARGE TRUCK AND WAS THEN PUSHED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED.

The contact owned a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while stopped by the school to pick up one of his children, the vehicle was parked. The contact then noticed smoke emanating from the driver's front seat. The contact safely removed his occupant, who was his autistic child, seated in the front passenger seat. The vehicle was engulfed in flames. The fire department was called, and the fire was extinguished. The contact and his children did not sustain any injuries. The vehicle was towed to a local towing yard. The insurance company was notified and towed the vehicle to a facility used by the insurance company. The insurance company declared the vehicle a total loss. The contact believes the fire to be related to an electrical failure due to the hood of the vehicle not being damaged. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 134,000.

THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AN APPROXIMATE SPEED OF 30 MPH, THERE WAS A BURNING SMELL IN THE VEHICLE AND IMMEDIATELY, SHE NOTICED THERE WAS SMOKE EMITTING FROM THE GENERAL CONSOLE AREA. THERE WERE FLAMES COMING FROM THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER.THE CONTACT MOVED THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROADWAY AND ATTEMPTED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE, BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AND WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING FURTHER INSPECTION OF THE FAILURE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE HAD NOT BEEN DETERMINED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 40,000.
I WAS DRIVING MY TRUCK TO A SOFTBALL GAME WHEN I DROVE INTO THE PARKING LOT I NOTICED A BURNING SMELL. I PARKED IN THE PARKING LOT AND THE SMELL GOT STRONGER. I DIDN'T REALIZE THE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM MY HOOD UNTIL I GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE. TWO CITIZENS THAT WERE WALKING BY NOTICED THE SMOKE AND HELPED ME OPEN MY HOOD AND ABOUT THIRTY SECONDS LATER FLAMES STARTED COMING UP OUT OF THE ENGINE BY THE UPPER RIGHT DRIVER'S SIDE. A GUY POURED POWERAIDE ON THE FLAMES AND IT WENT OUT. AFTER I MADE AN INSURANCE CLAIM AND CALLED GM I FOUND OUT IT WAS THE HEATED WASHER FLUID THAT CAUSED THE FIRE. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS SPECIFIC ITEM AND I WAS INFORMED THEY HAD FIXED THIS RECALL IN JAN. OF 2009. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN APRIL OF 2009 NOT KNOWING THERE HAD EVER BEEN A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. GM HAS NOT EVEN SENT A REPRESENTATIVE FROM THEIR COMPANY TO LOOK AT IT OR TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM. I AM HAVING TO PAY FOR A RENTAL CAR OUT OF MY OWN POCKETS TO GET TO AND FROM WORK. *TR
Sudden Loss of power steering & Complete Loss of Steering control movement.. It caused a minor injury to my hand... Friction burn to both palms and sore finger joints Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Have not taken it in for service yet.. While Performing a LEFT turn The wheel suddenly & unexpectedly BY IT SELF, jerked and changed direction from 80-90% left turning angle to 50-70% right turning in a quarter of a second , this almost caused the vehicle to smash into two other vehicles present in the area the other person had to slam on their brakes as the SUV by it self cut them off... Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No......... CHROME PLATING ON INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES PEELING, CUTTING MY FINGERS WHEN TRYING TO EXIT THE VEHICLE.
CHROME ON INSIDE DOOR HANDLE BEGINNING TO FLAKE AND CHIP AND CUT PASSENGER'S HAND WHEN OPERATING DOOR HANDLE.
THE DOOR HANDLES ON MY 2008 CHEVY TAHOE Z71 ARE CHROME PLATED AND HAVE DELAMINATED AND CUT MY HANDS SEVERAL TIMES UPON OPENING THE DOOR WHILE STATIONARY. I SAW A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR 2007 MODELS BUT NEVER FOR 2008. THE ISSUE IS OCCURRING IN THESE VEHICLES AS WELL.
THE DASH HAS MULTIPLE CRACKS, EXPOSING THE AIR BAG COMPARTMENT. THE PLASTIC/FOIL OUTER COATING ON THE DOOR HANDLES ARE CRACKED AND PEELING AND HAVE CUT PEOPLE'S HANDS.
DASH IS CRACKED IN THREE (3) LOCATIONS. ONE LOCATION IS NEAR AIR BAG AND PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT WILL NOT ENGAGE. DEALERSHIP AND GM DIRECTLY HAVE ADVISED THEY WILL NOT REPAIR. THE AIRBAG COULD DEPLOY ON ITS OWN, OR COULD FAIL TO DEPLOY IF NEEDED, BOTH OF WHICH ARE A SAFETY ISSUE. DASH CRACKS ARE LARGE. THOUSANDS OF GM OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THIS SAME ISSUE. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM HAS GONE HAYWIRE. AFTER THREE ATTEMPTED REPAIRS BY A DEALERSHIP, THEY FINALLY REPLACED THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE. THE VEHICLE WOULD DISABLE COMPLETELY AT RANDOM, REQUIRING TOWS ON TOO MANY OCCASIONS TO RECALL. ELECTRICAL ISSUES STILL REMAIN. I AM AFRAID THAT THE VEHICLE WILL CATCH FIRE, AS THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM APPEARS TO BE ENGAGED AND OPERATING WHEN THERE IS NO POWER TO THE VEHICLE. DOOR HANDLE ON DRIVERS SIDE WILL NOT ENGAGE WITH AUTOMATIC LOCK FEATURE. OTHER DOORS LOCK AND UNLOCK, BUT DRIVERS SIDE WILL NOT. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, AS THE DOOR HAS FAILED TO OPEN WHEN NEEDED IN AN EMERGENCY. THE DOOR HANDLES HAVE CHROME COVERING COATING. THE COATING IS PEELING OFF AND IS VERY SHARP, RESULTING IN CUTS TO YOUR HANDS. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO FILE DOWN THE COATING, BUT HAVE FINALLY COVERED IT WITH DUCT TAPE TO AVOID FURTHER CUTS TO MY HANDS AND MY PASSENGERS HANDS. ON A COSMETIC NOTE, THE COATING ON THE STEERING WHEEL IS ALL PEELING OFF. ALL OF THE ISSUES I HAVE REPORTED ARE HAPPENING TO THOUSANDS OF GM OWNERS AND GM HAS FAILED TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THESE ISSUES. I HAVE ALSO BEEN OVERCHARGED BY AN AUTHORIZED GM DEALERSHIP FOR TIME EXPENDED ON REPAIRS TO MY VEHICLE. *TR

THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR LACERATIONS TO THE HAND AS A RESULT OF GRABBING THE DOOR HANDLE WITH THE CHROME SHARDS. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLES HAD ALSO BECOME DETACHED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE FAILURES WERE DUE TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE DOOR HANDLES WERE SHARP AND THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A LACERATION FROM ATTEMPTING TO OPEN THE DOOR. THE REAR AND FRONT PASSENGER EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLES AND ALSO BECAME DETACHED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO INSPECTED THE DOOR AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 104,000.

THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO REMOVE THE SEAT BELT BUT THE ANCHOR WOULD NOT RELEASE THE BUCKLE. THE CONTACT ENDED UP JAMMING HER FINGER AND INJURING IT. THE SEAT BELT RELEASED BUT WOULD NOT CONNECT LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE ANCHOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND FILED A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,800.
