I was in an accident in my 2019 Chevy Traverse on September 4, 2025. Upon impact, my airbags did not deploy. I was pulling out from and intersection and a car with no lights on was coming from the right of me going towards the left of me. I ended up hitting his car on the driver' side and rear door. His side airbags went off. I was wearing my seatbelt. My body was thrown forward and hit the steering wheel. The airbag did not go off upon impact. I have a broken sternum, bruised ribs and bruises across my left shoulder due to the seatbelt. I ended up in the hospital overnight for observation. They were worried about my heart and lungs since they were jarred forward when I hit the steering wheel. Now my insurance company wants to total my car. They also want me to get a different title (salvage title) if I have the car fixed, which in turn with make it hard for me to sell it and keep insurance on it. I want to know what will be done about this. If I get the car fixed, will it happen again? Looking for answers. I feel that I would have been just fine if my airbag had went off. Now I am looking at 6-8 weeks of painful recovery.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at 20 MPH at an intersection, she failed to see the approaching vehicle that was driving 40 MPH and T-boned that vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. During the impact, the contact's wife's chest area collided with the steering wheel. The other vehicle did have all the air bags deployed. A police report was filed. The contact’s wife sustained abdominal, right knee, and chest pain, as well as a headache, and was treated in the hospital. The vehicle was towed to the tow yard. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000.
My Traverse intermittently displays 'shift to park' message and I was not able to shut the SUV all the way off. I would have to play with the shift gear in order for it to turn off. I am under 50k miles.
My wife and I were t-boned in the front end of our 2019 Chevy Traverse. I am familiar with how airbags operate and the force necessary to activate the trigger switch. At the force we were hit, the airbags should have deployed. None of the airbags worked. The car that hit us was totaled. Their front end was completely demolished to the firewall and all airbags were deployed. Our car had $11,000 plus worth of front /side damage. Our bodies are recovering from injuries we should not have sustained if the airbags were functional. We will be contacting the dealer.
I RECENTLY HAD A CRASH IN MY 2019 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. THE IMPACT HIT MY DRIVER DOOR AND FRONT END OF MY CAR. THE VEHICLE THAT HIT MY CAR WAS TRAVELING BETWEEN 45 AND 50 MILES AN HOUR. EVERY AIRBAG IN THEIR VEHICLE DEPLOYED HOWEVER EVEN WITH THE SIGNIFICANT IMPACT NONE OF MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. I'VE SPOKEN WITH MINI REPAIRMAN AT MORE THAN TWO CHEVROLET DEALERSHIPS WHO STATED THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED.

THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS PUSHED INTO A DITCH. THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY, CAUSING THE CONTACT'S HEAD TO STRIKE THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CONTACT SUFFERED NECK AND BACK INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. POLICE REPORT NUMBER: E961540 WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DEEMED DESTROYED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,193.
On 10-31-2022 my Chevy app sent email that my vehicle was experiencing starter engine issues and that my vehicle could not start. Except my vehicle was starting and being driven at the time. Shortly after that my vehicle gave notification by dashboard that my steering assist was reduced and to drive carefully but I am not aware of having that feature or how it was reduced in the first place. On 11-1-2022 my vehicle was being reversed into parking and the camera view displayed the scene as if my course was clear but I was not and the vehicle collided with a pole. I’m not sure how this is even possible but I no longer feel this vehicle is safe for me and my family.
When placing into park , message coming displays place in park, after many attempts it shifts into park, but has rolled into roadway while in park.
Brake system failed. car crash forward. personal and passenger safety at risk.. The problem is not confirmed by a dealer or independent representatives or others yet, only reported to insurance . no police record. , UNKNOWN. I was making a very slow right turn with foot on brakes for a distance of no more than 5 meters to make room behind me and other cars, in preparation to reverse park or rear /back parking. when suddenly the car accelerate , going forward .. the car hits a barrier which put the car to stop. I was on the brake pedal the whole time. With the car at stopped at the barrier and foot still on brake pedal, I am able to shift to reverse gear and parked the car. The impact is very strong that it damaged the front end mostly right side and transmission problem, transmission oil leak and alignment of tires. Thank you very much
I have had two accidents in this vehicle and reported to GM that my air bags did not deploy each time. The first accident was almost $20,000 in damage. The second accident disabled my car on impact and smoke filled my car where the airbags were. We hit a large deer head on going 60mph on the interstate and I had my toddlers with me. GM said last accident there was no faulty airbags. They assure me my vin is not involved but due to the severity of the accident I believe otherwise
MY VEHICLE WAS OFF, PARKED AND LOCKED. MY CAR WAS ON A SOMEWHAT FLAT SURFACE AND ROLLED INTO A TREE. THE SAME DAY I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR APPROXIMATELY 3 MILES FROM MY HOME, PARK FOR APPROXIMATELY 4 HOURS AND RETURN HOME WITHOUT KEYS. I HAVE A POLICE REPORT AND PHOTOS OF THE DAMAGE OF MY VEHICLE.
MY VEHICLE HAS THE FUEL ECONOMY SHUTDOWN SYSTEM AND IT'S NOT WORKING. IT USED TO SHOT DOWN WHILE ON A STOP AND THEN RESTART WHENEVER THE BREAKS WERE NOT ENGAGED NOW IT'S NOT DOING ANYTHING. THE AUTO STOP DOESN'T WORK IT'S STAYS ON A HIGH IDLE AT ALL TIMES

2019 TRAVERSE WAS TRAVELING DOWN ROAD ABOUT ONE MILE FROM STARTING LOCATION CAR SHUT OFF AND ALL DASHBOARD LIGHTS CAME ON THAN NOTICED SMOKE FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT., FLAMES SHORTY AFTER. FD WAS CALLED AND ARRIVED AND PUT OUT FIRE. A FLUID TRAIL WAS NOTICED BEHIND CAR LEADING TO OUR HOUSE (1 MILE AWAY). NO ISSUES WITH THE CAR UP TO THIS POINT. CAR WAS TOWED AND INSURANCE CALLED, NOTIFIED GM THE NEXT DAY AFTER SEEING A RECALL ON LEAKING TRANSMISSION (THIS VIN IS NOT ON THAT LIST). GM BASICALLY SAID THAT ONCE WE CALLED THE INSURANCE COMPANY THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR US. INSURANCE COMPANY (ALLSTATE) SAID THEY WILL LOOK INTO THIS. CAR WAS A LEASE AND WE HAVE NO RECOURSE. IT SEEMS FISHY TO ME THAT SOME MODELS HAVE A RECALL AND THIS APPEARS TO BE SOME KIND KIND OF LEAK FROM THAT AREA. IF GM DOESN'T CARE HOW WILL THEY KNOW IF THIS RECALL NEEDS TO INVOLVE OTHER MODELS AND VIN'S OF THIS CAR. I UNDERSTAND THAT WE LEASED THE CAR SO WE LOSE AND CAN'T RECOUP ANYTHING NOR WILL THEY WORK WITH US TO LOWER THE COST OF A REPLACEMENT. WHAT IF MY YOUNG CHILDREN WERE IN THE CAR OR MY MOTHER IN LAW WHO HAS A TOUGH TIME GETTING IN AND OUT OF THE CAR, SOMEONE COULD OF BEEN INJURIED OR WORST. SOMEONE NEEDS TO CAER ABOUT THIS. I TOOK MY SON TO MY WORK WHEN WE ARRIVED I TOLD MY SONS TO TAKE THEIR SEATBELTS OFF. MY SON STARTED SCREAMING IT'S TIGHTENING IT'S TIGHTENING. WITH HIM BEING IN A BOOSTER IT PINNED HIM HE TRIED TO WIGGLE OUT AND GOT EVEN MORE STUCK I TURNED THE CAR OFF TO TRIED TO REMOVE AND WAS UNSUCCESSFUL IT UNHOOKED FROM THE BUCKLE BUT HE WAS STILL STRAPPED TO THE CAR. HE STARTED BLEEDING FROM HIS NOSE AND MOUTH AND SAID HIS SHOULDER HURTS. I HAD ANOTHER CO WORKER TRY TO HELP ME OUT AND WE WERE UNABLE TO UNTIL I HAD TO CUT THE SEATBELT
THE EDGE OF THE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH HAND RELEASE LEVER IS VERY SHARP. I CUT MY FINGER TRYING TO FIND THE LEAVER TO OPEN THE HOOD. THIS PART SHOULD HAVE SMOOTH EDGES TO PREVENT INJURY.
ON JUNE 20, 2019, I BOUGHT A 2019 CHEVY TRAVERSE WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN GOOD CONDITION WITH NO DEFECTS. ON JULY THE 18 WE TOOK VEHICLE TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, DUE TO THERE WAS A VERY STRONG ODOR WHEN INSIDE THE CAR. IT WAS CAUSING BLOODY NOSES AND BREATHING ISSUES FOR MY FAMILY. THE SMELL WAS SO STRONG THAT IT COULD BE TASTED. THE DEALERSHIP TOOK ABOUT 15 TO 20 MINUTES TO DIAGNOSE CAR AS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. WE TOOK IT HOME. ON AUGUST 1, 2019, THE VEHICLE STARTS GOING CRAZY WITH ELECTRICAL ISSUES. WHILE MY WIFE IS DRIVING WITH MY KIDS THE HORN, LIGHTS, AND EMERGENCY LIGHTS START TURNING ON AND OFF AND THERE WAS A LOUD UGLY SOUND FROM THE ENGINE. THE CAR HAD TO BE PARKED TO AND I HAD TO GO DRIVE CAR HOME DUE THE UNSAFE CONDITIONS OF VEHICLE. AS I LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD, I COULD SMELL A BURNING SMELL AND SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. SO WE TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO DEALERSHIP. AFTER BEING ON THE SHOP FOR ABOUT A WEEK , WE GOT OUR CAR BACK AND ACCORDING TO DEALERSHIP IT WAS FIXED, ALONG WITH THE SMELL THEY TOLD US IT WAS A RARE SITUATION BUT THAT WE HAD MOLD AND MILDEW COMING OUT OF THE AC UNIT WHICH WAS CAUSING THE ODOR AND HENCE BLOODY NOSE AND BREATHING ISSUES. THEY ALSO FOUND THAT THE BATTERY WAS THROWING SPARKS AND WAS BURNING ELECTRICAL WIRES IN THE ENGINE. AT THIS POINT WE JUST WANTED OUR CAR BACK. THE FOLLOWING DAY MY WIFE AND KIDS WERE PUT IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION DUE TO DEFECTIVE CAR, WHILE DRIVING THE TRAVERSE IT TURNED OFF ON THEM WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. MY WIFE AND KIDS ARE TRAUMATIZED AND SCARED WHILE BEING PUT IN THESE DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. UNFORTUNATELY, YOUR VEHICLE HAS NOT PERFORMED WELL AND IS NOT SAFE EVEN AFTER IT WAS MADE CLEAR TO US THAT IT WAS SAFE AND FIXED.
Having issues with transmission at 68000 miles. Shuddering and cutting out. Shift to park comes on and also replaced alternator twice already. Replaced 1st alternator at less than 20,000 miles at 2 years old.
i have a 2019 chevy traverse i bouth it 2020 /9/11 2020 i have had problems scense then i right now havb to buy a transmission GMC had me to take it to a chevy dealer and ask for some coast asistant they would not so they baclk out now i am about to sue
Faulty sensor in the shifter assembly. This prevents the car from turning off and displays an error message “Shift To Park” This issue is recalled on models 2020 and newer but not 2019 which is an oversight and should be.
