THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V467000 (AIR BAGS, SEAT BELTS); HOWEVER, THE REMEDY WAS UNAVAILABLE TO PERFORM THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 600.
WHEN TURNING LEFT, POWER STEERING WENT OUT COMPLETELY, I WAS UNABLE TO COMPLETE TURN AND WENT ACROSS TWO LANES OF HIGHWAY TRAFFIC AND CRASHED INTO A DITCH. VEHICLE PREFORMED FINE PRIOR TO INCIDENT. THERE WERE 3 INJURIES IN THE ACCIDENT.
WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN, FROM A DEAD STOP, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TURN THE COMPLETE WHEEL AND ASSEMBLY DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE BY ITSELF AND COMPLETE LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE CAUSING A ONE CAR ACCIDENT AND SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE, HITTING A ROAD SIGN.THIS WAS A CITY STREET.THERE WAS A POLICE REPORT WRITTEN IN ASHLAND VIRGINIA , 11/30/19,AT 4:30 PM, # 18-46277. THIS COMPUTER WILL NOT ALLOW SCANS OR ATTACHMENTS, IT IS OLD AND ON WINDOWS XP.
I HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN TWO SEPARATE CRASHES WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE FIRST AT 46 MPH, WITH SIGNIFICANT FRONT END DAMAGE. THE SECOND, AFTER THE CAR WAS REPAIRED WAS AT 75 MPH. DURING THE FIRST CRASH, NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. DURING THE SECOND CRASH ONLY THE CURTAIN/SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. I WAS SEATBELTED IN, PROPERLY, AND SUFFERED BRUISED LUNGS AND A CONCUSSION.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEMS AND ALTERNATOR RECALL ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH THE RADIO, LIGHTS AND DASHBOARD INFORMATION. HE TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN, AND EVERYTHING WENT BACK TO NORMAL. HOWEVER, ONE DAY WHILE DRIVING, THE LIGHTS, WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND HORN STARTED TO MALFUNCTION, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO LOSE POWER, SO HE PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AS HE STEPPED OUT OF THE VEHICLE, HE NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE TRUNK. HE OPENED THE TRUNK AND OBSERVED AND EXTREMELY LARGE FIRE. HE TRIED TO PUT THE FIRE OUT, BY USING A COAT, BUT CONSEQUENTLY, HE RECEIVED FIRST DEGREE BURNS ON HIS HAND. THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT WERE CALLED TO THE SCENE. SEVERAL DAYS LATER, THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A CALL FROM AN INSPECTOR WHO STATED THE FIRE WAS A RESULT OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM GOING BAD. Power train, transmission output shaft fracture could result in a loss of power, increasing the risk of a crash. if the parking brake is not applied before exiting the vehicle, the vehicle may roll away despite the transmission being placed in park. The vehicle has been inspected. There are warning lights. They appeared 02/29/2024
WHEN DRIVING, POWER STEERING RANDOMLY TURNS OFF AND DISPLAYS "SERVICE POWER STEERING SYSTEM". IT DECIDED TO SHUT OFF POWER STEERING MIDWAY THROUGH A RIGHT HAND TURN CAUSING ME TO DRIVE OVER THE SIDEWALK AND ALMOST INTO A PARKED CAR IN THE PARKING LOT ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SIDEWALK. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS, I DONT FEEL SAFE LETTING MY KIDS RIDE IN THIS CAR AT ALL, ESPECIALLY SINCE I NEVER KNOW WHEN MY POWER STEERING IS JUST GOING TO RANDOMLY STOP WORKING. I WAS SO EXCITED WHEN I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE OF ALL OF THE POSITIVE SAFETY RATINGS, HOWEVER, BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE, DODGE/CHRYSLER HAS LOST ALL OF MY BUSINESS. ESPECIALLY WHEN A NEW POWER STEERING PUMP IS $1280 WHICH IS MORE THAN A COMPLETE MOTOR FOR SOME CARS. THE LIVES OF MY CHILDREN ARE WORTH MORE TO ME THAN THEY SEEM TO BE TO DODGE. UNLESS DODGE CAN DO A RECALL ON THIS PART AND FIX IT, SINCE I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WHO HAS HAD THESE ISSUES, THIS CAR WILL BE GOING TO A SCRAP YARD, IM NOT WILLING TO SELL IT TO SOMEONE ELSE AND POSSIBLY HAVE THEIR LIVES ON MY CONSCIENCE. *TR CONSUMER TESTIMONY IS LONGER THAN 2000 CHARACTERS, PLEASE SEE ATTACHMENT.*JB

THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. IT WAS UNKNOWN IF A DEALER WAS CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.
MY ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE IS THE RACK AND PINION LOCKING UP ON ME WHEN I TURN LEFT. I TOOK IT INTO DODGE AND THEY DIDN'T WANT TO DO ANYTHING WITH IT BECAUSE THE PROBLEM WASN'T HAPPENING AT THE TIME THAT IT WAS BROUGHT INTO THE SHOP, THIS WAS WHEN I HAD WARRANTY THAT I PAID EXTRA FOR AND EVERYTHING. AFTER IT GOT WORSE, I LOST CONTROL OF IT MAKING A LEFT AND I HIT A CURB, WHICH CAUSED ME TO HAVE TO GET A NEW TIRE. AS I AM DRIVING TO CLASS OR WORK, I GO TO MAKE MY REGULAR LEFT AND MY CAR KEEPS LOCKING UP AS I TURN SO I HAVE TO FORCE IT OUT OF THE LEFT TURN. I WOULD GET THE PROBLEM FIXED, BUT THE ISSUE WITH THIS IS THAT IT IS OVER $1000 TO GET FIXED. NOW MY MOTHER DRIVES MY CAR SOMETIMES, AND SHE HAS A PROBLEM WITH DRIVING MY CAR BECAUSE OF THIS, SO SHE DOES NOT DRIVE IT ANYMORE. THIS ISSUE COULD BE A PROBLEM FOR SOMEONE ELSE BECAUSE IT CAN LOCK UP AND CAUSE A BAD ACCIDENT, KILL OR SERIOUSLY INJURE SOMEONE. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING CONSIDERING HOW NEW THE VEHICLE IS AND I THINK THEY SHOULD BE INVESTIGATE BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T FIX IT DURING WARRANTY BECAUSE THE ISSUE WAS NOT CONSISTENT. BASED ON FORUMS, I ALSO SEE OTHER PEOPLE HAVE A SIMILAR PROBLEM. NOW IT IS EVERY TIME I TURN ON THE CAR IT LOCKS UP WHEN I TURN LEFT, IT IS VERY UNSAFE.

EARLIER IN THE DAY, THE BATTERY SAVER MODE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,500.
