THE CONTACT STATED THAT NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP. THE CONTACT RECEIVED INJURIES TO THE CHEST AND LEFT SIDE OF THE BODY. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 01V153000 (AIR BAGS) FOR THE CLOCK SPRING ASSEMBLY, BUT THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED HE WAS THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 160,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 DODGE DAKOTA CLUB CAB. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN A HEAD ON COLLISION AND THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING 20 MPH AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A GARAGE AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY WILL PICK UP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED IN THE ACCIDENT AND IS STILL RECOVERING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY NEVER HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE AIR BAGS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. THE SYSTEM DID NOT ACCEPT THE VIN AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT.THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 51000.
AROUND 03/04/2008 I WAS DRIVING THROUGH A CREDIT UNION PARKING LOT AND HIT A SHEET OF ICE I ENGAGED MY BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN, BUT MY ANTI-LOCK BRAKES DID NOT WORK AND I SLID 25' INTO AN SUV CAUSING SOME COSTLY DAMAGE TO BOTH VEHICLES. BOTH VEHICLES WERE DISABLED AND HAD TO BE TOWED. ALSO,THE AIRBAGS ON MY VEHICLE DID NOT ENGAGE AND FORTUNATELY I ONLY SUSTAINED A MINOR HEAD INJURY. *TR
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 40-45 MPH. THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS DRIVING BETWEEN 30-40 MPH, WHEN IT SUDDENLY PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF CONSUMER'S VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. DRIVER SUSTAINED FOREHEAD/ ARM/WRIST, AND ELBOW INJURIES WHEN IMPACTING THE STEERING WHEEL. ALSO, SEAT BELT FAILED TO RETRACT, CAUSING THE DRIVER TO PULL A MUSCLE IN LOWER BACK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. *AK POLICE REPORT AVAILABLE.*AK
BRAKE PEDAL BROKE WHEN THE SUV APPLIED HIS BRAKE HARD TO STOP FOR THE PICKUP IN FRONT OF HIM. I WAS BEHIND HIM ABOUT 4 TO 5 CAR LENGTHS GOING BETWEEN 40 TO 45 MPH, I HIT THE BRAKES THEY WORKED FOR A SPLIT SECOND AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I REAR ENDED THE SUV. THE ACCIDENT CAUSED ABOUT $3500 DAMAGE TO THE SUV, $2500. TO THE PICKUP IN FRONT OF IT AND $6500 TO $7000. DAMAGE TO MY 19999 DODGE DAKOTA. THE POINT THAT THE BRAKE LINKAGE CONNECTS TO THE BRAKE PEDAL BROKE OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL. *CB

VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON A HILL WITHOUT PARKING BRAKE ON, CAR WAS RUNNING, CONSUMER ACCIDENTLY HIT GEAR SHIFT, AND CONSUMER 'S BODY WAS NOT ALL THE WAY IN TRUCK WHEN VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS, TRAPPING CONSUMER BETWEEN TRUCK AND DOOR, AND REAR SHOULDER WAS RAN OVER. CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS NO SHIFT INTERLOCKING SYSTEM.*AK *JB
DUE TO DEFECTIVE STEERING SHAFT AND PUMP WHILE DRIVING STEERING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING NO POWER STEERING, WHICH MAY RESULT IN VEHICLE CRASHING OVER AN EMBANKMENT. *AK THE CAUSE FOR POWER STEERING PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED TO BE POWER STEERING PUMP FAILURE. *YH
I HAVE HAD BOTH PROBLEMS (ABS AND TIRE FAILURE) ON TWO SEPERATE OCCASIONS. THE DATE ON THE REPORT WAS FOR THE MOST RECENT. I CAME AROUND A CURVE TO THE RIGHT, THEN TURNED TO THE LEFT TO STRAIGHTEN OUT FOR THE ROAD AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I STARTED HEADING FOR A DITCH IN SOMEONE'S YARD SO I APPLIED THE BRAKES THEY LOCKED UP THEN RELEASED COMPLETELY. MY RIGHT FRONT TIRE WENT FLAT CAUSING STEERING TO BE NONRESPONSIVE. IN MY FIRST ACCIDENT, I WAS FOLLOWING A FRIEND COMING FROM A LIGHT THAT JUST TURNED GREEN, AND THE CAR IN FRONT OF HIM STARTED TO SLOW DOWN TO TURN, WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES, THEY LOCKED UP AND WOULD NOT RELEASE SO I TURNED THE WHEEL TO AVOID THE ACCIDENT AND THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE WENT FLAT CAUSING ME TO SLIDE ON THE WHEEL INTO THE BACK OF ANOTHER MOTORIST. I HAVE WITNESSES IN BOTH CASES THAT SAY THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO AND THAT I WAS NOT BREAKING ANY LAWS. NO CITATION WAS GIVEN IN EITHER CASE BECAUSE THE OFFICERS AGREED THAT I DID NOTHING WRONG.( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 255/55/R17 )
I WAS INVOLVED IN A THREE VEHICLE COLLISION WITH MYSELF BEING IN THE MIDDLE OF TWO OTHER PICKUP TRUCKS. THE TRUCK IN FRONT OF ME HAD A TRAILER HITCH ON THE BACK CAUSING ALL OF THE IMPACT TO BE IN THE MIDDLE OF MY FRONT END RESULTING IN A U-SHAPED INDENTATION GOING BACK INTO THE ENGINE OF MY TRUCK. THE COLLISION WAS ON AN INTERSTATE AND WE WERE MOVING AT APPROX. 50MPH SLOWING DUE TO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT STOPPING SUDDENLY. I STRUCK THE VEHICLE IN FRONT, BOUNCED BACKWARD, THEN WAS STRUCK IN THE REAR VERY HARD PUSHING ME BACK INTO THE FRONT VEHICLE. NEITHER THE DRIVERS OR PASSENGERS AIRBAGS IN MY VEHICLE DEPLOYED. LATER SPEAKING WITH THE ACCIDENT APPRAISER HE STATED THAT THE AIRBAG SENSORS ARE LOCATED ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE OF THE FRONT BUMPER AND NOT IN THE MIDDLE. BY THE IMPACT BEING IN THE MIDDLE OF MY FRONT END THE SENSORS WERE NOT TRIGGERED BECAUSE THE SENSORS NEVER KNEW THERE WAS A COLLISION. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SERIOUS DEFECT THAT SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED, THERE WERE INJURIES FROM MOVING FORWARD, THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS VERY SERIOUSLY INJURED BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE. SHOULDN'T THERE BE SENSORS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FRONT ENDS ALSO JUST FOR THIS TYPE COLLISION, I.E. ALL OF THE IMPACT BEING IN THE CENTER OF THE FRONT END. THANK YOU.
DRIVER HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE AT 35 MPH. UPON IMPACT, DUAL AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, CAUSING CHEST INJURIES, EVEN WITH SEATBELT WORN. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING AT 35MPH ANOTHER VEHICLE PULLED OUT IN FRONT. WAS BROADSIDED BY DODGE. UPON IMPACT, THE DODGE'S AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. BOTH DRIVER & PASSENGER WERE SLIGHTLY INJURED. POLICE REPORT FILED. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SHOP FOR REPAIRS. *AK
WHEN CRASHING INTO A TREE, MOSTLY ON THE LEFT FRONT SIDE OF TRUCK, THE SEAT BELT DID NOT HOLD THE DRIVER AND THERE WAS NO DEPLOYMENT OF AIR BAGS. OWNER NOT SURE IF TRUCK WAS TOTALLED. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 DODGE DAKOTA WITH 160000 MILES. THE FAILURE STARTED WHEN THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL BY ENGAGING THE RADIO BUTTON AND THE CRUISE CONTROL BUTTONS ON THE STEERING WHEEL. THE AIR BAG LIGHT ALSO CAME ON. THE VEHICLE WAS SELF DIAGNOSED AND THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE CLOCK SPRING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT RECALL 01V153000 AIR BAGS WAS RELATED TO THE FAILURE. A NEW CLOCK SPRING WAS PUT INTO THE VEHICLE. THE PART NUMBER TO THE NEW CLOCK SPRING WAS 56045456AG. THE PART NUMBER FOR THE DEFECTIVE PART WAS 56045456AD. THE CONTACT HAD A PREVIOUS CRASH WHERE THE ORIGINAL CLOCK SPRING WAS REPLACED WITH THE DEFECTIVE ONE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED ABOUT THE FAILURE BUT THEY COULD NOT TELL THE CONTACT THE PART NUMBER OF THE ORIGINAL CLOCK SPRING. THE CONTACT FEELS THAT THEY PUT THE DEFECTIVE PART IN HIS VEHICLE AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED.
UPON STARTING MY 1999 DODGE DAKOTA, IT IMMEDIATELY WENT FULL THROTTLE AND LURCHED FORWARD, BRAKES WOULD NOT HOLD THE VEHICLE. WAS PLACED IN REVERSE AND VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY WENT BACKWARDS IN FULL THROTTLE. STILL UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE WITH BRAKES, HIT AN OAK TREE WHICH TOTALLY WRECKED THE TRUCK. NOTE: THE TRANSMISSION WAS STILL IN "PARK" WHEN TRUCK WENT FORWARD. THINGS HAPPENED SO FAST THAT MY WIFE, WHO WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK, DID NOT THINK TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION. *TR
1999 DODGE DAKOTA APPLIED BRAKE AND VEHICLE PULLED TO THE LEFT**CW** 2ND CAR FROM DOCUMENT NUMBER 10195900 THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED, THE BRAKE PADS WEAR, AND PRESSURE WAS BEING PLACED ON THE LUGS/SLIDE BARS. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THAT IT WAS ALSO QUITE POSSIBLE THE BRAKES COULD BE DELAYED FROM ENGAGING BECAUSE THE BACKING PLATES ARE NOT ABLE TO RIDE UP AND OVER THE WEAR SPOT. THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE BRAKES A DELAY IN BRAKING OCCURRED, FOLLOWED BY A SLIGHT SHUDDER, THEN THE WHEEL LOCKED UP. THE VEHICLE DIDN'T STOP AND CONSEQUENTLY HE REAR ENED ANOTHER VEHICLE. *JB
HAVE STAYED UPDATED ON TUNE-UPS AND KEEPING TRUCK RUNNING, GOT NEW TIRES NOV. 24, 2004 FROM LESCHUAB. ON DEC. 1 2004, I WAS HIT ON THE FRONT END DRIVER SIDE. TOOK TRUCK IN FOR REAPIRS, AND FOUND OUT THAT BALL JOINTS WERE EXTREMELY WORN. *AK
