CONSUMER COMPLAINT REGARDING UPPER BALL JOINT RECALL (04V-596000)THAT CAUSED POSSIBLE COLLISION AND DEATH OF PASSENGER. *TS *NM
"CLUNKING NOISE" COMING FROM FRONT OF AUTO WHEN DRIVING OVER UNEVEN SURFACES/BUMPS. FRONT RIGHT WHEEL ASSEMBLY DETACHED FROM VEHICLE AT UPPER BALL JOINT. LOWER BALL JOINT REMAINED ATTACHED. ALL FOUR BALL JOINTS REPLACES. RIGHT BRAKE LINE REPLACED. WARNED OF DAMAGE TO CV SHAFT, HOWEVER DEALER ONLY REPLACE OUTER CV BOOT
I HAVE BEEN THE OWNER OF MY TRUCK SINCE 2007 . I HAVE HAD 3 CAR WRECKERS AND MY6 AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLODED. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT TO DO ? ..UPDATED 09/28/17 *BF UPDATED 7/19/18*JB *TR
I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO TURN INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS SPEEDING AND TOOK A CURVE TO FAST AND CROSSED THE CENTER LINE AND HIT HEAD ON. THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY PROPERLY AND THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WAS BUSTED WHEN IT WAS DEPLOYED. THE STEERING WHEEL INNER COMPONETS CAME OUT WITH THE AIRBAG WHICH DID NOT INFLATE AND CAUSED INJURY TO MY CHEST AREA. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED BUT WAS BUSTED AND CAUSED MY DAUGHTER TO GET A BROKEN ARM. I BELIEVE THIS WAS A DEFAULT IN THE AIRBAG SYSTEM IN MY TRUCK. MY TWO YOUNGEST CHILDREN WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 DODGE DAKOTA. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 30-35 MPH, THE CONTACT SWERVED TO AVOID A CAT AND STRUCK A TREE AND A PARKED CAR. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE KEY BROKE OFF IN THE IGNITION AND THE TURN SIGNAL WAS DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT'S FACE STRUCK THE STEERING WHEEL. AS A RESULT, HER TEETH WENT THROUGH HER LIP, HER FACE WAS BRUISED, SHE SUSTAINED A BLACK EYE, AND HER RIGHT HAND WAS CUT AND SWOLLEN. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING HER 2000 DODGE DAKOTA (139000 FAILURE MILEAGE) AT 50 MPH IN THE LIGHT RAIN, SHE ATTEMPTED TO GO AROUND A SLIGHTLY SHARP CURVE, BUT THE CURVE TURNED OUT TO BE SHARPER THAN EXPECTED. WHEN THE CONTACTS APPLIED THE BRAKES HEAVILY THE WHEELS LOCKED, AND THE CONTACT SKIDDED, HITTING THE EMBANKMENT. AFTER THE CRASH, IN THE PROCESS OF EXITING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE SEAT BELT BELT DID NOT TIGHTEN TO SECURE THE OCCUPANT IN THE SEAT. AS A RESULT, SHE HIT HER HEAD ON THE WINDSHIELD. *AK
DT: THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A SINGLE CAR ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING 35-40 MPH. IT STRUCK A TREE. UPON IMPACT, THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE PASSENGER WAS WEARING A SEAT BELT. HOWEVER, HE SUSTAINED FACIAL INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN AT THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM THE SCENE. A MANUFACTURER'S REPRESENTATIVE INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, WHO DETERMINED THAT THE AIRBAG SENSOR FUNCTIONED AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT BY THE COMPUTER CODES. HE STATED THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY BECAUSE OF THE LOCATION OF THE IMPACT. THIS DETERMINATION WAS MADE BASED ON THE DATA COLLECTED BY THE REPRESENTATIVE. THERE WAS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE. *AK
IN JULY 2003 CONSUMER'S VEHICLE ANOTHER VEHICLE WHILE TRAVELING ABOUT 20 MPH. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER WAS SLIGHTLY INJURIED, BUT NOTHING SERIOUS. CONSUMER CONTACTED DODGE AND THOUGHT THEY WERE GOING TO INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM, BUT HAS NOT HEARD FROM THEM.*AK
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. *AK
THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DEALER NOTIFIED.*AK *TS *JB
2000 DODGE DAKOTA,4.7L AOUT TRANSMISSION/UPPER CONTROL ARM BALL JOINT ASSEMBLY DEFECTIVE.REPLACED AT 1.100 MILES,LOWER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY BALL JOINT CAME APART AT 9,200 WHEEL CAME OFF. *AK
I STOPPED THE TRUCK AND PUT IN THE PARK POSITION, I THEN CAME OUT OF THE TRUCK, CLOSED THE DOOR AND THE TRUCK STARTED TO MOVE IN THE REVERSE DIRECTION, I RAN AFTER THE TRUCK TO SEE IF I COULD STOP IT BUT THE REVERSE SPEED WAS TO FAST FOR ME AND THE TRUCK HIT THE TREE DAMAGING THE REAR BUMPER AND I FELL BACK INJURING MY BACK. CHECKED THE POSITION OF THE SHIFT AFTER ABOVE INCIDENT TO SEE THE POINTER POSITION ABOVE "R". I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO DUPLICATE THE SAME SYMPTOM WITHOUT ANY SUCCESS. THIS I KNOW FOR CERTAIN YOU CAN NOT GET OUT OF THE TRUCK WHEN IT IS IN REVERSE. *JB
VEHICLE STRUCK A TREE STUMP AND NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT SEAT BELT RELEASED, THROWING DRIVER INTO THE WINDOW. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.
THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION, AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, THE CONSUMER WAS INJURED. *TS. THE CONSUMER BACK WAS BROKE, ALSO THE MANUFACTURER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT HIT HARD ENOUGH FOR THE AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY. *JB
2000 DODGE DAKOTA QUADCAB - I WAS GOING FORWARD IN MY DRIVEWAY WHEN I STOPPED THE TRUCK AND PUT IT IN "PARK", ENGINE STILL RUNNING. I GOT OUT OF THE TRUCK AND AFTER ABOUT 15 SECONDS IT ENGAGED ITSELF IN REVERSE. IT SMASHED THROUGH A GATE AND I GOT INJURED WHEN I GOT CAUGHT BETWEEN THE GATE AND THE LEFT FRONT FENDER OF THE TRUCK. WHEN THE TRUCK STOPPED I GOT IN AND STILL FOUND IT INDICATING IN "PARK". THE DRIVEWAY WAS LEVEL. I HAVE SINCE BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE CONDITION WITH THE GEAR SHIFT JUST SLIGHTLY OUT OF "PARK", PARTICULARLY WITH A COLD ENGINE.
I DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO VEHICLE AT THIS TIME FOR ADDITIONAL INFO, ACCIDENT WAS VS TREE, FRONT END. *AK
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION INTO A VAN. ESTIMATED SPEED OF IMPACT WAS 30 MPH. DRIVER DID MAKE CONTACT WITH CONSOLE OR SIDE OF TRUCK. UPON IMPACT, DUAL AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY, AND DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES. PLEASE DESCRIBE DETAILS. *AK
WHILE CONSUMER WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP ANOTHER VEHICLE RAN INTO CONSUMER'S VEHICLE HEAD-ON, BUT NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. CONTACTED DEALER WHO WAS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. *AK CONSUMER STATES THAT THE DRIVER?S SEAT BELT DID NOT KEEP THE DRIVERS HEAD FROM SLAMMING INTO THE STEERING WHEEL. *YD
WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD-ON COLLISON AND AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AT 25-30 MPH. *AK *YH
VEHICLE WAS HIT FROM REAR AT 50 MPH IN WHICH DRIVER'S SEAT COLLAPSED BACKWARDS, CAUSE UNKNOWN. *AK CONSUMER STATES THAT WHEN THE SEAT FAILED, SHE SUSTAINED INJURIES TO HER HANDS, SHOULDER, BACK, AND NECK. *SLC
