IN AUGUST 2004. A 2001 DODGE DAKAOTA PICKUP RAN A STOP SIGN AND I HIT HIM. THE TRUCK ROLLED AND CONTINUED TO RUN AND CAUGHT THE VEHICAL ON FIRE AND BURNED THE DRIVER CRITICALLY, AND HE ULTIMATELY DIED. WHY DIDN'T THE VEHICLE INERTIA SWITCH CUT THE VEHICAL OFF. I HAVE A FILE CLAIMED AGAINST THE INSURANCE COMPANY AND AN INVESTIGATION MAY BE LAUNCH ON THE TRUCK. *AK

WHEN THE TRUCK CAME TO A STOP AFTER SPINNING AROUND AND FACING THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. ON IMPACT MY SEATBELT FAILED TO RESTRAIN ME AND I WAS THROWN INTO THE BACK SEAT WHERE MY HEAD HIT THE REAR WINDOW AND I SUB STAINED A VERY LARGE GASH TO MY HEAD.

DUE TO VEHICLE HYDROPLAINING UNIT 1 CROSSED THE CENTER LINE AND ENTERED THE WEST BOUND TRAFFIC LANES UNIT 2 WAS COMING WEST ON GREENBRIER IN THE INSIDE LANE UNIT3 WAS TRAVELING WEST ON GREENBRIER IN THE OUTSIDE LANE UNIT1 CROSSED IN FRONT OF UNIT2 COLLIDED WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE OF UNIT1 UNIT1 FISHTAILED COUNTER CLOCKWISE AND CAME TO REST ON THE WEST BOUND SIDE OF GREENBRIER UNIT2 FISHTAILED CLOCKWISE AND WAS STRUCK BY UNIT 3 THE DRIVER OF UNIT3 STATED HE ATTEMPTED TO AVOID UNIT 1 BY SWERVING TO THE LEFT AND COLLIDED WITH UNIT 2 AS IT SPUN TOWARDS HIS VEHICLE THE AIR BAGS IN UNIT ONE BEING MY VEHICLE DID NOT DEPLOY AND PASSENGER WAS BADLY INJURED. *TR

TRAFFIC WAS MOVING IN FRONT OF GRACE COVENANT CHURCH, THERE WAS AN OFFICER DIRECTING TRAFFIC. MY HUSBAND PUT ON THE BRAKES AT THE MOMENT HE REALIZED TRAFFIC WAS NOT MOVING ANY LONGER. THE BRAKES LOCKED UP. WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE TIRE MARKS ON THE ROAD, IT IS APPARENT THE RIGHT SIDE TIRE LOCKED FIRST (THE TIRE MARK IS MUCH LONGER) THEN THE LEFT SIDE TIRE LOCKED (TIRE MARK ON ROAD MUCH SHORTER). HE WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BEFORE IT STRUCK THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY IN THIS ACCIDENT. THE CONCERN IS THAT THIS TRUCK IS BELIEVED TO HAVE ABS WHICH MEANS IT WAS MALFUNCTIONING SINCE THE TIRES LOCKED UP. THE CONCERN IS THIS MAY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE ACCIDENT IN THAT HE WAS NOT ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE STOPPED IN TIME. IT WAS A HARD IMPACT WHICH IT APPEARS WILL CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO BE TOTALED. *JB

OUR DAUGHTER'S PASSENGER HURT HER KNEE WHEN IT HIT THE DASHBOARD; BUT (LUCKILY FOR US) THEY ARE FRIENDS AND DID NOT FEEL IT WAS A SERIOUS ENOUGH INJURY TO SUE OVER. LOWER STEERING COLUMN SHAFT HAS A BUSHING THAT FAILED CAUSING LOSS OF STEERING. TRUCK VEERED INTO A DITCH AT 30MPH. I CALLED DEALERSHIP TO PURCHASE THIS PART AND FOUND OUT THAT IT IS ON A BACKORDER OF OVER 100. WENT TO SEVERAL AUTO RECYCLERS AND USED PARTS STORES AND FOUND THAT EVEN THEY HAVE THE PART BACKORDERED. THIS SHOWS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE IF THERE ARE SEVERAL BACKORDERS AND THE PARTS IS A REQUIRED TO SAFELY OPERATE THE VEHICLE. I AM SURPRISED THAT THERE ARE NO ACTIVE RECALLS ON THIS ITEM. *TR
