THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT SMOKE WAS PRESENT UNDER THE HOOD NEAR THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 97,000.
MY BROTHER WAS DRIVING MY DODGE JOURNEY I WAS THE FRONT PASSENGER AND MY COUSIN WAS IN THE BACK WE WERE HIT FROM THE REAR AND WE RODE OVER TWO AND A HALF TIME AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY ON EITHER SIDE AND WE ALSO SUBSTANED INJURIES I MYSELF WAS IN THE HOSPITAL FOUR DAYS AND I AM STILL OUT OF WORK TO THIS DAY
MY CAR WAS CUTTING OFF EVEN AFTER I HAD IT REPAIRED DUE TO A RECALL ON THE IGNITION. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE CAR WOULD JUST STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING IT. NOW I I TOLD DODGE THAT I WAS AFRAID MY CAR WAS GOING TO KILL ME. I OFTEN RENTED CARS BECAUSE IT WAS TOO UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND I RARELY DROVE THE CAR EVEN THOUGH I WAS STILL PAYING A WHOPPING LOAN ON IT. THEY POO POOED WHAT I TOLD THEM AND IGNORED MY CLAIMS. NOW,I'M NOT A CAR EXPERT BUT THIS IS NOT NORMALLY. I RECENTLY HAD IT SERVICED AND HAD A TRANSMISSION REPLACED, OBVIOUSLY THIS WAS NOT THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THE CAR MALFUNCTIONED WHEN MY KIDS WERE IN THE CAR AND LANDED IN A RAVINE. I FOUND OUT THAT THIS VEHICLE IS UNDER RECALL AGAIN FOR THE THIRD TIME CONCERNING THE IGNITION.

THE VEHICLE SPUN AROUND THREE TIMES AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUFFERED SEVERE BRUISING TO THE LEFT ARM, THE SHOULDERS, THE NECK, THE LOWER BACK, AND THE LEGS THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I WAS DRIVING AT THE SPEED LIMIT ON INTERSTATE 5, (CALIFORNIA) WHEN A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME SWERVED PARTIALLY INTO MY LANE. IN ORDER TO AVOID HITTING SAID VEHICLE, I SWERVED TO THE RIGHT SLIGHTLY, AT THAT TIME I BELIEVE ENGINE DIED, AS I HAD NO CONTROL OVER SAID VEHICLE I COULD NOT STEER OR MANEUVER MY VEHICLE AT ALL. THUS IT WAS CONTINUING ON THE PATH OF THE SWERVE AND HIT THE WALL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. I AT NO TIME HAD ANY CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE, THE CAR STARTED SPINNING FROM THE IMPACT OF THE WALL AND SENT ME ACROSS 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC AND I WAS HIT BY 2 CARS. THE ONLY AIRBAG THAT DEPLOYED WAS THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. (THERE WAS NO PASSENGER IN THAT POSITION.) I WAS IN THE DRIVER SEAT, AND MY SON (WAS 9 YEARS OF AGE AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT) WAS SITTING DIRECTLY BEHIND ME. WHEN THE CAR STOPPED, I WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION, IT WAS LOCKED IN PLACE. ORIGINALLY, I BELIEVED THAT THERE WERE NO MAJOR INJURIES, ONLY BUMPS, BRUISES AND THE LIKE. HOWEVER IN THE MONTHS SINCE THE INCIDENT, IT HAS COME TO LIGHT THAT I HAVE TORN MUSCLES IN 1, MAYBE BOTH ELBOWS. I AM CURRENTLY UNDER A DOCTORS CARE, AND WILL BE REQUIRING SURGERY TO RECONSTRUCT THE MUSCLES AND TENDONS.

A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES AND WAS HOSPITALIZED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC, BUT DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS NOT PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. 2010 DODGE JOURNEY, WHILE RETURNING THIS VEHICLE TO THE RENTAL OFFICE ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED. BOTH HAD BEEN GOING ABOUT 5 MPH AND WERE ABOUT 35 TO 40 FEET APART WHEN THE DODGE JOURNEY ENGINE STARTED TO RACE AND THE VEHICLE IN FRONT WAS STRUCK, WOULD NOT STOP EVEN THOUGHT THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. AFTER THE ACCIDENT WHILE THE FRONT SEAT PERSONS WERE OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE LOOKING AT THE DAMAGE ON BOTH VEHICLES THE DODGE ENGINE STARTED TO RACE AGAIN WITH NO ONE IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, IT WAS SHUT OFF AT THIS POINT. AFTER NAMES AND SO FORTH WERE EXCHANGED [ BOTH VEHICLES WERE RENTALS] THE DODGE WAS RESTARTED AND RAN FINE INTO THE RETURN AREA. WHILE THEY WERE CHECKING IT IN AND THE VEHICLE RETURN AGENT WAS SHOWN THE DAMAGE HE WENT OVER TO CHECK THE GAS LEVEL. UNDERSTAND, AGAIN AT THIS TIME THERE WAS NO ONE INSIDE THE RENTAL VEHICLE AT ALL. EVERYONE WAS OUTSIDE STANDING AROUND. AS THE CAR RENTAL AGENT STARTED TO LOOK INSIDE THE ENGINE STARTED RACING AGAIN, IN FACT HE ACTUALLY JUMPED BACK AND I REACHED IN AND SHUT IT DOWN. THIS WAS REPORTED TO THE INSURANCE PEOPLE AND AFTER SEVERAL CALLS THE FINALLY SAID THAT THE RENTAL COMPANY HAD INSPECTED THE CAR BY TAKING IT TO A DEALER WHO LOOKED AT THE ENGINE AND TEST DROVE IT AND NOTHING HAPPENED SO THE VEHICLE WAS ALRIGHT. THE AGENT WHO CHECKED IT IN WAS NEVER CONTACTED AND NONE OF THE PEOPLE IN EITHER VEHICLE WERE ASKED ABOUT THE ENGINE RACING. I UNDERSTAND THAT FOR AN ACCIDENT INVOLVING 6 OR 7 THOUSAND DOLLARS THEY ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE A CAR APART BUT IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS VEHICLE HAS A BOX THAT CAN TELL WHAT WAS GOING ON JUST PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT. THE INSPECTION WAS DONE BY A DEALERSHIP AT A COST OF $105.00 SO IT WAS NOT EXTREMELY WELL INSPECTED. *TR
vehicle repeatedly fails to start because of ignition system defect I have to wiggle or finesse the key fob in the ignition slot to get the car to start. The problem has happened many times. The first time I crashed into my shed I was so scared. and now the vehicle will not start at all leaving me in my family straight on the roadside I am aware of existing recall RO3 for the ignition switch wind module on this model year my vehicle either was not repaired or still exhibiting the same defect after prior service. This is a safety issue because it leaves driver stranded unexpectedly and may also cause the ignition to shut off while driving I request an HSTSA investigate further or ensure the manufacturer repair repairs this issue under recall.
24/7 CONSTANT HORN AND ANTI THEFT ALARM GOES OFF. AIR BAG LIGHT FLASHES WHILE DRIVING AN HORN/ALARM BLARE. DRIVING ON THE I10 HIGHWAY IN ARIZONA WEST BOUND HORN BEGAN GOING OFF AT TWO SEMI TRUCK DRIVERS WHO HIT THEIR BREAKS TO AVOID A WARNING HONK. HAD TO PULL OVER WITH POLICE OFFICERS TO REMOVE HORN FUSES TO STOP. DRIVING ON STREETS, SITTING AT A RED LIGHT GOES OFF. SITTING AT A STOP SIGN TURNED ON, TURNED OFF. CAR ARMED FOR SECURITY AN NO ONE AROUND. VEHICLE NOT LOCKED DOORS SHUT ALARM AN HORN GO OFF LIGHTS FLASHING. DIRT ROAD, APPROXIMATELY 8:47PM SEPT 2018 HORN BLARES OFF CAUSING CYCLIST TO VERGE OFF PATH AN DIRECTLY ONTO ROAD CAR STRUCK BICYCLE TRAPPING IT UNDER VEHICLE AN DRAGGING IT 14FEET BICYCLIST WAS ABLE TO JUMP OFF IN TIME. POLICE REPORT WAS GIVEN INSURANCE WAS NOTIFIED. JOB ONSITE SECURITY NUMEROUS TIMES IN THE PAST 11MONTHS HAS NOTIFIED MYSELF OF THE CONSTANT BLARING.
2010 DODGE JOURNEY - ON JULY 8, 2019 MY WIFE STOPPED AT A LOCAL STATION FOR GAS BUT WHEN SHE PULLED OUT OF THE STATION SHE LOST ALL DASHBOARD LIGHTS. THE RADIO WAS PLAYING BUT THE CONTROLS WERE NOT WORKING TO TURN THE RADIO DOWN OR OFF. SHE DECIDED THAT SINCE THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO BE RUNNING OKAY SHE WOULD CONTINUE TO HER NEXT STOP. WHEN SHE ARRIVED AT HER NEXT STOP SHE PULLED INTO A PARKING SPOT. ALL DASH LIGHTS ETC WERE STILL OFF. WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE AND ATTEMPTING TO PLACE THE CAR IN PARK THE RPM'S INCREASED DRAMATICALLY AND SHE LUNGED FORWARD AND CRASHED INTO THE BUILDING. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE HEADLIGHTS WERE NOT DAMAGED. HOWEVER GIVE THE DAMAGED CASED BY THE FALLEN DEBRIS AND SOME UNDER CARRIAGE DAMAGE THE CAR WAS DETERMINED A TOTAL LOSS. SINCE THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION PROBLEM THERE SEEM TO BE NO INTEREST ON THE PART OF THE CHRYSLER DEALER OR MY INSURANCE AGENT TO INVESTIGATE THE CRASH ANY FURTHER.
I WAS SITTING AT THE APPROACH TO OUR DRIVEWAY WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, WAITING TO ENSURE MY GRANDCHILDREN HAD SAFELY CLEARED THE DRIVEWAY AREA. WITHOUT WARNING, THERE WAS A SOUND LIKE THE CAR ENGINE REVVING UP, THE CAR STARTING MOVING/LUNGING FORWARD ON ITS OWN AND ALL ATTEMPTS TO APPLY THE BRAKES TO STOP THE CAR FAILED. I QUICKLY STEERED TOWARD A TREE IN MY FRONT YARD WHERE I CHOSE TO CRASH MY CAR IN ORDER TO STOP ITS CONTINUED ACCELERATION. THE CAUSE OF THE ACCELERATION IS UNKNOWN. IF I HAD NOT CHOSEN TO HIT THE TREE, THE CAR WAS HEADED FOR MY FRONT PORCH/HOUSE WHERE MY GRANDCHILDREN HAD GONE TO CLEAR THE DRIVEWAY AREA. A CONTRACTOR WORKING ON MY NEIGHBOR'S PROPERTY CAME TO ASSIST ME AND TURNED OFF THE CAR ENGINE. THERE WAS A STRONG BURNING ODOR/CHEMICAL SMELL PERMEATING MY CAR AFTER THE CRASH. IN SPITE OF THE IMPACT, MY AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. WE CALLED 911, THE INSURANCE COMPANY AND HE CAR WAS TOWED TO A COLLISION SHOP. REGISTERED A FORMAL COMPLAINT TO CHRYSLER CORPORATION THE NIGHT OF THE CRASH. *TR
I WAS STRUCK ON THE LEFT FRONT BY A 1997 DODGE STRATUS OCCUPIED BY 5 TEENAGE BOYS. THE DAMAGE WAS BUMPER AND LEFT FENDER (INSURANCE ESTIMATE ABOUT $3,000. BUT THE BATTERY WAS PLACED ON TOP OF THE ENGINE BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE BATTERY WAS THE ORIGINAL BATTERY INSTALLED ON CAR. NO ENGINE REPAIR HAD BEEN DONE ON THE VEHICLE. THE BATTERY EXPLODED AND THE ENGINE WAS COVERED BY BATTERY ACID WHICH DESTROYED ALL THE WIRING IN THE ENGINE. BATTERY ACID ALSO WENT DOWN THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE CAR DESTROYING PAINT AND EATING INTO METAL. TWO ADJUSTERS EXAMINED THE CAR AS THE INSURANCE WAS AMAZED AT AMOUNT OF DESTRUCTION. THEY EACH STOPPED AT $11,000 DAMAGE AND TOTALED THE CAR. I WAS TOLD THAT HAD ANY GLASS BEEN BROKEN AND I GOT BATTERY ACID ON MY BODY, THE DAMAGE WOULD HAVE BEEN SEVERE. A MECHANIC AT THE SCENE SAID THE BATTERY PLACEMENT WAS VERY DANGEROUS AS WAS SAID BY INSURANCE ADJUSTERS AND REPAIR SERVICE WHERE THE CAR WAS TOWED. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND DODGE ITSELF AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM. THEY BOTH SAID THEY NEVER HAD HEARD OF ANY PROBLEM. I WALKED AWAY UNHURT BUT COULD HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE (I'M 73) HAD THE BATTERY BEEN PLACED IN A DIFFERENT SPOT IN THE ENGINE. I BELIEVE THIS BATTERY PLACEMENT TO BE VERY DANGEROUS AND AM CONCERNED FOR OTHERS WHO MIGHT HAVE AN ACCIDENT IN A CAR LIKE MINE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 40 MPH WHEN THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A CURB BEFORE THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH THE THE SBA WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND ADVISED THAT AS A RESULT OF THE CRASH, THE CONTROL BOX AND OTHER COMPONENTS WERE DAMAGED, CAUSING THE SBA LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. THE CONTACT LATER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF A MANUFACTURERS RECALL AND THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A REPRESENTATIVE SENT ON BEHALF OF THE MANUFACTURER. THE REPRESENTATIVE ADVISED THAT THE RECALL WAS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH THE POWER STEERING FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE VEHICLE AND TIRE COMPONENTS WERE NOT EFFECTIVELY REMEDIED AND BELIEVED THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN AT 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND MADE A POPPING NOISE, AND THE DRIVER'S FRONT WHEEL SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE CONTACT TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND TO CRASH INTO A VEHICLE IN THE LEFT LANE, DAMAGING THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT BUMPER. THE CITY OF COLUMBUS POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT NUMBER WAS C-278012. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND LOCATED THE FAILURE AS A BROKEN DRIVERS SIDE FRONT AXLE WHICH CAUSED THE WHEEL TO SEPARATE. THE MANUFACTURER ENGINEER INVESTIGATION CONCLUDED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT A DEFECT, BUT IT WAS CAUSED BY DRIVER IMPACT. THERE WAS NO MENTION OF INJURIES.THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILES WERE 40,000.
2010 DODGE JOURNEY. I'VE HAD 4 INCIDENTS WHERE MY JOURNEY HAS LOST POWER/STALLED. THE FIRST WAS IN A PARKING GARAGE WHILE MAKING A TURN, THE CAR LOST POWER AND I DID NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO STEER AND HIT A POLE. DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT AT FIRST. THE SECOND INCIDENT WAS IN APRIL 21ST, WHILE GOING OVER RAILROAD TRACKS, AND AGAIN LOST POWER. I WAS NOT ABLE TO STEER AND WAS ABLE TO GLIDE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND ONCE STOPPED WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE 3RD INCIDENT WAS ON APRIL 27TH, WAS ON THE HIGHWAY FOR WORK, WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED GOING 65 MILES PER HOUR. I DID NOT HAVE BREAK OR POWER STEERING, AND WAS SURROUNDED BY SEMI TRUCKS. ONCE I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THROUGH TRAFFIC AND GET TO THE SHOULDER THE VEHICLE STARTED AND WAS FINE. THE 4TH INCIDENT WAS ON MAY 25TH, WHILE ENTERING A 2 LANE HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AGAIN AND TO AVOID GETTING HIT WHILE ENTERING THE HIGHWAY, I HAD TO HIT THE CURB TO STOP. THIS HAD CAUSED TIRE DAMAGE AND BENT THE RIM. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL AND THEY WILL NOT FIX IT. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY SINCE I AM AN OUTSIDE SALES REPRESENTATIVE AND AM ON THE HIGHWAY AND IN MY VEHICLE FOR A MAJOR PART OF THE DAY. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TELLS ME THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE AND IF MY VIN WASN'T PART OF THE RECALL THEN THEIR ISN'T ANYTHING I CAN DO. I FEEL THAT I AM DRIVING IN A DEATH TRAP AND DODGE/CHRYSLER WILL NOT DO ANYTHING. *TR
JUST MADE A LEFT HAND TURN FROM A TRAFFIC LIGHT . A CAR APPROXIMATELY 100FT. DOWN THE ROAD WAS WAITING TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN INTO A DRIVEWAY. WHEN I PUT MY FOOT ONTO THE BRAKE PEDAL IT WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR. MY VEHICLE COULD NOT STOP AND I ENDED UP RUNNING RIGHT INTO THE OTHER VEHICLE. I DID NOT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR AN INSPECTION AND NOTHING COULD BE FOUND WRONG WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM.
While driving my engine caught on fire. My safety was put at risk because I had to pull over and get out the car. Flames started coming from the hood of the car. I just dropped my newborn baby off 10 minutes prior and was around the corner from picking up my other child. I had to call 911 and wait for the fire department to come. I tried to put it out myself but the fire was too great and I was afraid it would explode. My check engine light was on but I was told it was for an old misfire. I haven’t not had any issues with my vehicle, I drive it to work everyday. Vehicle has not been inspected by insurance as I do not currently have active insurance on vehicle. Chrysler customer service states because vehicle is 13 years old they are not liable. No dodge dealership will look at vehicle because it will be difficult to find issue alas the vehicle is totaled. There is a recall R32 starting in 2011 for this model. My engine although made in 2010 is the same engine in the recall. 2.4 liter 4 cylinder.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE BATTERY CABLE MALFUNCTIONED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BATTERY CABLE BECAME SO HOT THAT IT BEGAN TO EMIT SMOKE.
