WAS IN AN ACCIDENT. WENT OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THOUGH A YARD AND OVER AN EMBANKMENT RESTING AGAINST A TREE. FRONT END DAMAGE, AND DAMAGE TO BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 58-60 MPH AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH. THIS WAS ON A STATE RURAL ROUTE.
THIS VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A ONE VEHICLE CRASH. THE VEHICLE STRUCK A UTILITY POLE AT 28MPH. THE IMPACT WAS IN THE CENTER FRONT. THE CAR HAS BEEN DOWNLOADED USING BOSCH DATA RETRIEVAL SOFTWARE. I AM A CRASH RECONSTRUCTION TROOPER WITH THE OHIO STATE HIGHWAY PATROL. ALL DATA IN THE DOWNLOAD WOULD NORMALLY INDICATE THAT THE AIRBAGS AND SEAT BELTS WOULD HAVE ACTIVATED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WERE THREE INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A JUNK YARD. TAKATA RECALL. BRAKES LOCKED UP TRYING TO AVOID A CAR COMING TOWARDS ME, LOST CONTROL AND AIRBAGS DEPLOYED IN AN ACCIDENT AND SMOKED AND BURNT MY ARM AND LEG
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 DODGE JOURNEY. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH AND TURNING LEFT, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. ALL THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELT FAILED TO RESTRAIN THE CONTACT. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE HEAD, FACE, NECK, SPINE, KNEE, AND CHEST, AS WELL AS LOST CONSCIOUSNESS. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED AND THE CONTACT WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INSURANCE FACILITY WHERE IT WAS DEEMED DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE, BUT FAILED TO ASSIST. A DEALER WAS CONTACTED, BUT COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELT FAILED TO RESTRAIN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000.
I WAS TRAVELING TO WORK ON THE CITY STREET IN MY 2013 DODGE JOURNEY SXT, A PERSON RAN THE RED LIGHT AND STRUCK ME NEAR THE GAS TANK AND THEN STRUCK ME A SECOND TIME IN THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. SIX OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED IN THE CRASH. I AM WRITING THIS BECAUSE I KNOW THAT I AM HERE TODAY DUE TO THE BUILD OF THE 2013 DODGE JOURNEY SXT. I WAS SO SURPRISED THAT I WENT OUT AND PURCHASED ANOTHER DODGE JOURNEY.
I REAR-ENDED A DODGE RAM TRUCK. MY ENTIRE FRONT END WAS PUSHED BACK. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND MY SEAT BELT DIDN'T TIGHTEN. MY CAR WAS TOTALED. MY FACE HIT THE STEERING WHEEL RESULTING IN MY TOOTH GOING INTO MY LIP. I SUSTAINED WHIPLASH AND MY KNEES HIT THE DASHBOARD AND WERE INJURED. LUCKILY I WAS THE ONLY ONE IN MY CAR. CONSIDERING NONE OF THE SAFETY FEATURES OF THE VEHICLE WORKED IT COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE.
WHEN SHE WAS DRIVING SHE GOT TO THE TOP OF THE HILL. AND THE CAR SHUT DOWN. SHE HAD NO CONTROL OVER IT ,IT FLIPPED TWICE. AND THEN MONDAY I GET A RECALL NOTICE ON MY WIVES CAR THAT HERS CAN SHUT DOWN. DODGE REALLY NEEDS TO FIND OUT WHAT'S GOING ON WITH THE DODGE JOURNEY, I'M FIXING TO GET A LAWYER AND SUE I GUESS IF NO ONE CAN TELL US WHAT'S GOING ON. SHE HADN'T EVEN PAID THE FIRST PAYMENT ON IT YET, KNOW FARM BUREAU WON'T STOP HER PAYMENTS, THIS IS CRAZY THE CAR IS TOTALLED AND COULD HAVE BEEN A LOT WORSE. I WANT SOMETHING DONE IMMEDIATELY BEFORE WE GET A LAWYER ON TO DIDGE!

The contact owned a 2013 Dodge Journey. The contact received a notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V432000 (Air Bags). The contact stated that previously, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle would hesitate to accelerate as intended while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The check engine oil pressure warning light illuminated. In addition, the contact managed to pull over at a local gas station and noticed black smoke leaking from under the hood. The contact stated that after she depressed the release hood latch button, the engine fire increased and rose in size. The contact was able to safely exit the vehicle. The contact managed to obtain a nearby fire extinguisher and extinguished the fire with the help of nearby pedestrians. The local fire deparment arrive on scene and filed a report. A police report was not filed. The contact sought medical attention for severe mental distress. The fire department deems the source of the fire was possibly due to engine oil. Upon further investigation, a local independent mechanic diagnosed the source of the fire as an engine main wireharness failure. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard, where it was diagnosed as a total loss by the insurance provider and later transported to the contact's residence. The local dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 267,000.

THE FRONT-END OF THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. THE CONTACT HAD NO INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE CONTACT STATED THEY HAD THEIR SPOUSE COME TO SLOWLY DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THEN HAD THEY HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER (ADDRESS: 1880 HIGHWAY 290 WBRENHAM, TX 77833-5216; PHONE: 979-291-2785) WHO STATED THAT THE SPEED CONTROL SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS OTHER REPAIRS, WHICH, WERE UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE'S ABS SYSTEM WAS STILL FAILING. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER WHO REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
