CPSC: BABY TREND HYBRID LX 3-IN-1: CONSUMER STATED SHE AND HER SON, WERE INVOLVED IN A HEAD-ON COLLISION. AFTER THE ACCIDENT, THE CONSUMER NOTICED THE CHEST CLIP HAD UN-LATCHED AND HER SON WAS DANGLING OUT OF THE CAR SEAT AND WAS BARELY IN THE SHOULDER STRAPS, DESPITE BEING CORRECTLY PLACED IN THE CAR SEAT. I WAS TRAVELING FROM LAS VEGAS, NV TO TWIN FALLS, ID WITH MY SON [XXX] ON DEC 14 2015 TO VISIT FAMILY FOR CHRISTMAS. MY SON [XXX] WAS A WEEK FROM TURNING 4, WEIGHED 37 LBS AND WAS 38 INCHES TALL. I HAD HIM IN THE BABY TREND HYBRID 3 IN 1 LX (KIWI COLOR) FORWARD FACING IN THE 5 POINT HARNESS. AT AROUND 9PM MOUNTAIN STANDARD TIME ON DEC 14 2015 MY SON [XXX] WAS ABLE TO PULL THE SLACK ON HIS HARNESS LOOSE AFTER UNCLIPPING HIS CHEST CLIP AND FREED HIS UPPER ARMS. THE MOMENT I NOTICED HE HAD DONE THIS OUR SMALL CAR WAS HIT HEAD ON BY A PICKUP TRUCK THAT WAS DRIVING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. SINCE [XXX] LOWER BODY WAS THE ONLY THING RESTRAINED HIS UPPER BODY WAS THROWN FORWARD AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED WHICH CAUSED A HYPER EXTENSION AND SEVERANCE OF HIS SPINAL CORD AT THE C3- C4 VERTEBRAE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 BABY TREND HYBRID 3-IN-1 BOOSTER SEAT. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED WHIPLASH AND THE CHILD PASSENGER WAS FATALLY WOUNDED DUE TO THE IMPACT OF THE CRASH. THE SEAT BELT DID NOT SECURE THE CHILD DURING THE CRASH. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A YARD AND THE BOOSTER SEAT WAS DISCARDED. THE CONTACT COULD NOT DIAGNOSE WHAT CAUSED THE FAILURE. VEHICLE WAS IN A MINOR 'FENDER BENDER' DURING RUSH HOUR - STOP AND GO - TRAFFIC. AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND DAMAGE TO THE 2011 FIESTA SES WAS FIXABLE. VERY MINIMAL DAMAGE (DENT) TO CAR IN FRONT OF MY VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE WENT FROM FIXABLE TO IGNITING AND A TOTAL LOSS. *TR
ON AUGUST 5 I FELL ASLEEP AND RAN INTO THE BACK OF A TRUCK STOPPED AT A LIGHT. MY KNEE AIR BAG DEPLOYED BUT THE STEERING WHEEL BAG DID NOT AND THE SHOULDER BELT DID NOT DEPLOY CAUSING ME TO HIT THE STEERING WHEEL VERY HARD BRUISING MY STERNUM AND CAUSING SURROUNDING MUSCLE INFLAMMATION THAT IS STILL SORE TODAY.
I WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT ON 10/13/2018. I WAS STRUCK ON THE DRIVERS SIDE, BACK OF MY 2011 FORD FIESTA. MY CAR SPUN AROUND AND FLIPPED AND ROLLED. DURING THIS TIME THE AIR BAGS DID NOT OPEN. I WAS TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN I WAS STRUCK GOING 60 -65 MPH. THE CAR THAT STRUCK ME WAS GOING MUCH FASTER, 80-85 MPH. I AM WONDERING WHY MY AIR BAGS DID NOT OPEN. ARE THERE ANY OTHER REPORTS LIKE MINE? MY CAR LANDED UPRIGHT IN A GRASSY MUDDY FIELD. I AM STILL BEING SEEN FOR MEDICAL TREATMENTS AND WAITING TO HEAR IF MY CAR IS A TOTAL LOSS OR REPAIRABLE.
I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT WITH MY 2011 FORD FIESTA AND I WAS HIT ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE BACK OF THE CAR. THE CAR SLAMMED INTO ME AND CAUSED MY CAR TO SPIN AND THEN THE CAR FLIPPED AND ROLLED. THE CAR LANDED UPRIGHT INTO A MUDDY, GRASSY FIELD. THE AIR-BAGS DID NOT OPEN UPON IMPACT. I WAS TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE GOING 60 MPH. THE CAR THAT HIT ME MUST HAVE BEEN GOING 85 MPH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2011 FORD FIESTA. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH IN TRAFFIC, THE CONTACT REAR ENDED THE PRECEDING VEHICLE. THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED, RIPPED AT THE SEAMS, AND EXPELLED DUST. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE COLLISION. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES AND A SEVERE CUT TO THE LEFT HAND THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW LOT AND DEEMED DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC OR DEALER FOR THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
MY CARS TRANSMISSION JERKS, POWERS DOWN, HESITATES. I HAVE TAKING IT BACK TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING WRONG, ONE TIME I HAD A COMPUTER UPDATE. I HAD A LOT OF CLOSE CALLS DUE TO THE WAY THIS CAR OPERATES. APRIL 2015 MY LUCK RAN OUT. EVENING TRAFFIC WAS HEAVY AND SITTING AT A RED LIGHT AND WHEN IT TURNED GREEN THE CAR DID THE HESITATION AND THIS TIME MY DAUGHTER WAS IN A HEAD ON COLLISION AND THE CAR IS A TOTAL LOSS. MY DAUGHTER HAD A NECK INJURY AND SECOND DEGREE BURNS TO HER ARMS.
TAKATA INFLATORS. MY HUSBAND WAS IN A FENDER BENDER WHEN THE AIRBAG WENT OFF AND HIT HIM IN THE FACE CAUSING MULTIPLE FACIAL FRACTURES AND A BROKEN ARM AND HIS FINGERS SHATTERED.
MY CAR WAS NOT PART OF THE AIRBAG RECALL, SO I DID NOT WORRY ABOUT IT. A FEW DAYS AGO I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT, THE DAMAGE WAS SIGNIFICANT AND THE CAR TOTALED, THERE WERE SEVERAL HITS AS THE CAR WAS BEING BOUNCED FROM ONE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER AT HIGHWAY SPEED, ONE OF THOSE VEHICLES BEING A SEMI. NOT A SINGLE AIRBAG DEPLOYED AND AS A RESULT ALL THOSE IN THE FIESTA GOT INJURED, ONE HAD TO BE TAKEN TO THE ER/ICU AND REMAINS IN A BAD CONDITION.

I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE INTO STERLING MCCALL. STERLING MCCALL REFUSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I REPORTED TO LEGACY FORD ON 9/5/14AT 4:05 P.M. TO [XXX]. THE PROBLEMS THAT I HAVE BEEN HAVING WITH MY2011 FORD FIESTA. I ALSO REPORTED THE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM14M01. ON 9/11/14AT 6:59 P.M. I BROUGHT VEHICLE INTO LEGACY FORD. THEY GAVE ME A RENTAL CAR AT 7:15 P.M. ON 9/12/14 LEGACY FORD REFUSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I FILED A CASE [XXX]-5211951 WITH THE CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER AT 2:15P.M. I BROUGHT MY 2011 FORD FIESTA TO FIRESTONE FOR A DIAGNOSTIC ON 12/4/14. THE FIND WAS THAT THE ARTICLE SUPERSEDES TSB 11-9-2 TO UPDATE THE ISSUE STATEMENT AND SERVICE PROCEDURE. I BROUGHT IT TO LEGACY FORD AGAIN ON 1/14/15. AND LEGACY FORD REFUSED TO FIX MY 2011 FORD FIESTA AGAIN. THEN ON 1/17/15 MY CAR WAS IN A ACCIDENT. I WAS REAR ENDED BY A FORD F350 SO HARD THAT I HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, A HONDA ACCORD. THE BACK OF MY 2011 FORD FIESTA IS SMASHED IN AND THE FRONT OF THE CAR, IS SMASHED IN. THE BACK WINDOW IS SCATTERED, THE SUNROOF SLIDER FELL BACK INTO THE CAR, THE FRONT RIGHT WHEEL (PASSENGER SIDE) IS BENT, AND THE CAR DOES NOT TURN ON. I UNDERSTAND IN REAR END CRASHES THE AIR BAGS USUALLY DO NOT GO OFF, BUT WHEN I HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, THE AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE GONE OFF. *TR
I WAS PULLING OUT OF A COUNTY PARK AFTER DARK, AND WAS TRYING TO GAUGE THE DISTANCE OF AN INCOMING CAR, TO DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT I HAD TIME TO PULL OUT. IN ORDER TO SEE BETTER, I LIGHTLY PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR, BUT INSTEAD OF SLOWLY INCHING FORWARD A FEW INCHES OR A FOOT, MY CAR LEAPT OUT INTO THE PATH OF THE ONCOMING CAR AND THEN STOPPED. I TRIED TO THROW THE CAR IN REVERSE, BUT THERE WASN'T TIME TO REACT. THE OTHER DRIVER TRIED TO SLOW DOWN AND SWERVE TO AVOID ME, BUT WAS UNABLE TO AVOID HITTING MY DOOR. ME, MY THREE CHILDREN, AND THE DRIVER OF THE OTHER CAR WERE ALL TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE. THE CHILDREN WERE NOT ADMITTED, AS THEY ONLY HAD A FEW BRUISES, BUT THE OTHER DRIVER AND I WERE BOTH ADMITTED AND SUBSEQUENTLY RELEASED THAT SAME NIGHT. I RECEIVED A CITATION FOR FAILING TO YIELD, WHICH I PLAN ON CONTESTING. MY CAR HAS LEAPT OUT INTO A CROSS-STREET LIKE THAT AFTER STOPPING FOR STOP SIGNS SEVERAL TIMES, BUT ALWAYS TO A LESSER EXTENT, AND NEVER ON A BUSY STREET. IT ALWAYS TAKES SEVERAL SECONDS AFTER THIS OCCURS FOR THE ACCELERATOR TO FUNCTION AGAIN, WHICH IS WHY I TRIED TO THROW MY CAR IN REVERSE INSTEAD OF DRIVING FORWARD. I HAVE ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY TRANSMISSION SHUDDERING PROFUSELY UPON EXCELLERATING AFTER STOPS. I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM FORD DATED AUGUST 2014, STATING THAT THEY WERE EXTENDING THE WARRANTY ON MY CLUTCH AND TRANSMISSION INPUT SHAFT SEALS, AND TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE CALIBRATION TO 7 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES, BECAUSE OF THESE TYPES OF PROBLEMS, AND URGING ME TO HAVE THEM REPAIRED IF EXPERIENCING SHUDDERING. BECAUSE OF MY HUSBAND'S WORK SCHEDULE, WE HAD NOT GOTTEN AROUND TO HAVING THE SEALS REPLACED YET AS RECCOMENDED. I FEEL THAT THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES THAT I HAD BEEN HAVING WITH MY CAR, ARE DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR MY COLLISION, AND COULD EASILY HAVE RESULTED IN THE DEATHS OF 5 PEOPLE. *TR

THE POLICE WERE CONTACTED AND A REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE DRIVER WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL LATER ON WHERE SHE RECEIVED STITCHES AND BELIEVED THERE WAS ALSO SOME NERVE DAMAGE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS LATER CONTACTED AND THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THEY WOULD SEND OUT COMPLAINT FORMS, WHICH HE NEVER RECEIVED. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER REPAIRED.
