I was involved in a hit and run accident where I ended up hitting a large wooden pole and wall . My seat belt failed also my steering wheel airbag did not deploy even though I hit the pole and wall head on . All my other airbags deployed but it didn't stop my chest from impacting.the steering wheel and my right knee from smashing into the dashboard. The car was inspected by law enforcement and by my insurance company geico. Geico still has the car because it was a total loss.

MY SON HIT SLAMMED ON HIS BRAKES TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF HIM WHO HAD SLAMMED ON THEIR BRAKES, HIT A PATCH OF BLACK ICE AND SLAMMED DIRECTLY INTO THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HIM. ONLY THE AIR BAG BY HIS FEET WENT OFF. NONE OF THE OTHER AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE SEATBELT ALSO DID NOT LOCK UP IMMEDIATELY. HE SUSTAINED A CONCUSSION, LEFT SHOULDER INJURY, NECK PAIN, AND BRUISING TO HIS CHEST AND ABDOMEN FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. HE HAD TO BE TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE. THE CAR IS TOTALED AND IS IN A SALVAGE LOT ON HOLD FOR A WEEK IN CASE YOU WANT TO LOOK AT IT.

I LEASED THE CAR THROUGH MY BANK ON MAY 5TH 2016 WITH JUST OVER 35,000 MILES. TWO MONTHS INTO THAT THE CAR DIDN'T START AND ALL ELECTRONIC LIGHTS WERE FLICKERING. IT DISPLAYED TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION. I TOWED THE CAR TO A BIG FORD REPAIR SHOP. THEY SAID IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION UPDATE AND A NEW CLUTCH. THEY TOOK CARE OF IT. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVEN (7) TIMES SINCE I GOT THE CAR MAY 2016. PRETTY MUCH EVERY FOUR MONTHS. IT IS COMPLETELY INCONVENIENT AND COSTLY. I HAVE ALSO BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE EVAP FUEL COMPONENTS. I HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON NOW AND IT NEEDS TO BE SERVICED. THE LAST TIME I GOT A TRANSMISSION UPDATE FROM FORD WAS IN MARCH 2019. MY CAR NOW BARELY HAS 66,200 MILES SO IT'S VERY DISAPPOINTING THE AMOUNT OF WORK AND TRANSMISSION ISSUES I'VE HAD TO DEAL WITH. I STILL OWE $4,800 ON THE CAR. I LEASED IT FOR $12,000. I AM HOPING I AM ABLE TO GET SOME HELP OR SOME KIND OF COMPENSATION FOR DEALING WITH THE ISSUES FOR YEARS. I TRADED IN A GOOD WORKING JEEP TO GET THIS CAR BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE GOOD ON GAS AND ECONOMICAL. THIS IS MY FIRST FORD CAR. I WILL PROBABLY NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD CAR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER DUE TO BEING A TOTAL LOSS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.

OUR DAUGHTER WAS IN A 3 CAR ACCIDENT. THERE WAS BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION AND ALL OF A SUDDEN TRAFFIC WENT FROM MOVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED TO STOPPED. DIRECTLY AHEAD OF OUR DAUGHTER WAS A REFRIGERATOR TRUCK. OUR DAUGHTER WAS NOT ABLE TO STOP QUICKLY ENOUGH AND STRUCK THE BACK OF THE REFRIGERATOR TRUCK. THE SPEED LISTED ABOVE IS AN ESTIMATE. NO ONE IN THE OTHER VEHICLES WERE HURT, NOR DID THEIR CARS SUSTAIN REPAIRABLE DAMAGE. MY DAUGHTER'S CAR WAS STOPPING STRAIGHT AT THE POINT OF COLLISION AND STRUCK THE BACK OF THE TRUCK SQUARE. THE OFFICER AT THE SCENE SUGGESTED SHE BE CHECKED OUT IN THE ER. MY DAUGHTER SUSTAINED SOFT TISSUES INJURIES AND BRUISES. AFTER SOME TIME WITH THE CHIROPRACTOR SHE SHOULD BE FINE. MY QUESTION/CONCERN DEALS WITH THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. THE DRIVER KNEE AIRBAG DEPLOYED, THE STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG DID NOT. IS THAT POSSIBLE? ARE THERE SITUATIONS WHERE IT IS APPROPRIATE FOR THE LOWER BAG TO DEPLOY WITHOUT DEPLOYING THE STEERING WHEEL AIR BAG? THE SEAT BELT DID STOP HER, ALTHOUGH IT LEFT A LARGE RED MARK ON HER SHOULDER. IF THE SYSTEM WORKED CORRECTLY THAT IS FINE. WE WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM SOMEONE WITH EXPERTISE IN THIS AREA TO MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS NOTHING FAULTY IN HER CAR. The contact was able to safely exit the vehicle but suffered a left knee injury while exiting the vehicle. No medical attention was received. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire. The contact was unaware if there was a police or fire department report. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence and had not yet been deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer transferred the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 47,700.

2014 FORD FIESTA 1.6L WITH " POWER SHIFT " DUAL CLUTCH 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN APRIL 2016, USED WITH 36,675 MILES FORD FACTORY CERTIFIED ( CP0 ), WITHIN 1200 MILES THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SLIP AND SHUDDER UP HILLS, DEALER PREFORMED AN ADAPTIVE RELEARN ON THE TCM, CORRECTED THE PROBLEM FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. SHUDDER AND GRINDING NOISE IN REVERSE, THEN AS WELL AS IN FORWARD GEARS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS AND 10,00 MILES AFTER PURCHASE OF THE CAR. TOOK CAR BACK INTO DEALER AND DEALER STATED THE CLUTCHES FAILED THE REQUIRED TEST TO DETERMINE REPLACEMENT OF THE CLUTCHES AGAIN. ( CLUTCHES WERE REPLACED AT 28K MILES WITH PREVIOUS OWNER). DEALER STATED THEY WOULD ORDER THE CLUTCHES AND NOTIFY WHEN THEY ARE AVAILABLE FOR REPLACEMENT. THIS WAS AUGUST 11TH 2016 THE CAR HAD 47,268 MILES AT TIME OF SERVICE. THE DEALER NEVER ISSUED A RENTAL CAR EVEN WITH A PROBLEM AFFECTING THE TRANSMISSION WAS DETERMINED. THE INCIDENT THAT HAPPEN TODAY AUGUST 21ST 2016 THAT WARRANTED THIS COMPLAINT IS AS FOLLOWS. WHILE STOPED AT A STOP SIGN ON A RESIDENTIAL ROADWAY SHORTLY AFTER STARTING CAR, MY CAR FAILED TO SAY STOPED AND LUNGED INTO THE ROADWAY AND BROADSIDED A CAR AND THEN EVEN WITH THE BRAKES FULLY DECOMPRESSED THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD AGAIN STRIKING THE CAR AGAIN AFTER TRYING TO TURN AWAY FROM THE CAR TO PREVENT THE IMPACT. IMPACT WAS MINOR AS THE TRANSMISSION WAS CAUSING THE MOVEMENT AND MY BRAKES WERE FULLY DECOMPRESSED. THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ADDRESSED THE INVOLUNTARY ENGAGEMENT OF THE TRANSMISSION CAUSING THE ISSUES OF LURCHING FORWARD WITHOUT USER INPUT. THERE IS NO OPEN RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE. TO DATE NOTHING THAT FORD HAS DONE HAS CORRECTED THE PROBLEM PERMANENTLY AND THIS HAS CAUSED AN EXCESSIVE DEPRECIATION OF VALUE IN THIS VEHICLE. I PERSONALLY DO NOT FEEL SAFE OPERATING THIS CAR.

IN SEPTEMBER OF 2015 I WAS SITTING IN MY FORD FIESTA (18K) ENGINE RUNNING AND IN PARK AND ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON THE DASH AND THE CAR SHUT OFF. I TRIED TO START THE CAR BY PUSHING THE PUSH TO START AND THE FIRST TIME IT DID NOT WORK BUT THE SECOND TIME THE CAR STARTED AND I WAS ON MY WAY. IN OCTOBER 2015 I WAS DRIVING BACK FROM A JOB INTERVIEW AND DOING 40 MPH ON A TWO LANE ROAD. I WAS GOING TO MAKE A SWEEPING RIGHT TURN AND THE CAR SHUT COMPLETELY OFF CAUSING THE STEERING WHEEL TO LOCK. I LOST CONTROL AS I COULD NOT TURN THE CAR WENT ACROSS A LANE OF TRAFFIC AND HIT A CURB AT ABOUT 30 MPH. MAJOR FRONT RIGHT DAMAGE. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR ABOUT 5 MILES TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER. THEY INTERVIEWED ME TWICE ON WHAT HAPPENED (STATING THAT THEY BELIEVED MY ACCOUNT OF WHAT HAPPENED) AND GAVE ME A CAR TO DRIVE WHILE FORD CORP. WAS INVESTIGATING. FORD CAME BACK AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AND THAT THERE WERE NO CODES BUT THE TRANSMISSION CODE(A KNOWN PROBLEM) I STATED THAT THERE WOULD NOT BE ANY CODES IF THE IGNITION SHUT OFF BUT MY COMPLAINTS FELL ON DEATH EARS AS THE DEALER SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO SINCE FORD CORP MADE THEIR DECISION. I STATED THAT I DID NOT WANT THE CAR BACK (IT WAS A LEASE) THAT I WOULD NOT DRIVE A CAR THAT FORD COULD NOT ASSURE ME THAT THIS PROBLEM WOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. FORD KNOWS THEY HAVE MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH THE FIESTA THAT IS WHY THEY ARE WILLING TO GIVE YOU EXTRA INCENTIVE $$ TO LEASE SOMETHING ELSE. IN THE END I HAD TO PAY 4K FOR THE REPAIR AND I WAS 5K UPSIDE DOWN ON THE TRADE (WHICH I APPLIED TO THE NEW LEASE). FORD CORP DID NOT STAND BEHIND THE PRODUCT NOR DID THEY OFFER TO HELP IN ANYWAY. I DID LEASE A FORD FOCUS BECAUSE I HAD TO HAVE A CAR AND DID NOT HAVE 9K TO WALK AWAY FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY.THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. DO NOT BUY A FORD FIESTA. *JS
