DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD RANGER EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED HE HAS BEEN HAVING BRAKE PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH AND APPLYING THE BRAKES THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. THE PEDAL HAD A SPONGY FEEL WHEN IT WAS PRESSED DOWN. THE SERVICE DEALER REPLACED THE CAP ON THE RESERVOIR TO THE MASTER CYLINDER. THIS DID NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM. THEN, THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE RESERVOIR, THIS STILL DID NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER REPLACED THE SEALS, AND THIS SEEMED TO STOP THE LEAK OF THE BRAKE FLUID, BUT DID NOT HELP THE BRAKING CAPABILITY. THE BRAKING PROBLEM RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE HE COULD NOT AVOID AN ANIMAL IN THE ROAD. WHEN HE APPLIED THE BRAKES THE VEHICLE SKIDDED AND HE COULD NOT GAIN COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE FLIPPED OVER SIX TO SEVEN TIMES. THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING 75 MPH WHEN THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED. THERE WAS ONE FATALITY, AND TWO INJURIES AS A RESULT OF THIS ACCIDENT. THE CONSUMER HAS NOT CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER OR THE SERVICE DEALER BECAUSE OF INJURIES SUSTAINED FROM THE ACCIDENT. THE CONSUMER LEFT THE VEHICLE IN A TOW YARD IN WINSLOW, ARIZONA. *AK
ROLLOVER; DRIVER'S DOOR CAME OPEN; SPOOL OUT OF SEATBELT.
The contact owns a 2004 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while driving on the highway in rainy weather at 60 MPH, she lost control of the vehicle and drove off the road. The contact stated that she could not recount what happened moments after she drove off the road; she did recall that she pulled up to a stop sign and her air bags had deployed. The police arrived at the scene and assisted the contact with moving the vehicle out of the road; a police report was not filed. The contact did not seek medical attention but suffered burns to her right arm and chest. The contact also sustained bruising to her face. The vehicle was towed the next day to an independent mechanic, where the vehicle remained in the possession of the mechanic and had yet to be repaired. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that the vehicle was under recall for NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V306000(Air Bags). The failure mileage was approximately 270,000.
The contact owned a 2004 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that his daughter was involved in a head-on collision; however, the air bags failed to deploy. The contact's daughter sustained injuries to her knee and received medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
The contact owned a 2004 Ford Ranger. The contact stated while driving at 10-15 MPH and making a right turn, a vehicle from the opposite lane crashed into the driver's side of the vehicle and the vehicle rolled over about 10 ft in the air, rolled over in a ditch, and landed on its wheel. The air bags did not deploy. The emergency units were unable to assist the contact out of the vehicle as the roof had caved in and was resting on her head. The contact crawled out of the vehicle and was transported to the hospital. The contact sustained a concussion and severe pain in the neck between her shoulder blade which has limited her movements. Additionally, the contact sustained damaged nerves on the left hand and left leg, and chronic lower back pain. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot where it was totaled. A police report was filed. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V081000 (Air Bags). The manufacturer also informed the contact that she did not receive a recall notification because recall notifications were not sent to each vehicle owner of the affected vehicles. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
FORD RECALLED THE AIR BAGS TO GET FIXED ON MY TRUCK. I TOOK THE TRUCK IN TO A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, THEY SUPPOSEDLY FIXED THE RECALL. MY SON WAS INVOLVED IN ROLL OVER CRASH AND THE AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. I HAVE A POLICE REPORT AND PHOTOS TO PROVE THAT. I ALSO HAVE THE PAPERWORK FROM THE DEALERSHIP SHOWING THE REPAIR. MY SON SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. I AM UPSET AND I WANT ANSWERS. FORD SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE, ESPECIALLY IN A SAFETY MATTER.THIS OCCURRED IN ALBUQUERQUE, NM.

THE CONTACT SUFFERED NECK AND BACK PAIN, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED. THERE WERE NO OPEN RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNED A 2004 FORD RANGER. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A BULGING DISC TO THE NECK AND NERVE DAMAGE TO THE LEFT ARM THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DESTROYED. IN JUNE OF 2006 I WAS IN AN AUTO ACCIDENT THAT TOTALED MY 2004 FORD RANGER. DURING THE COURSE OF THE ACCIDENT THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED WITH A GREAT FORCE THAT IT MESSED UP MY NECK WITH TWO DISCS AND MY LEFT ARM AT THE ELBOW WHICH LEFT A SCAR AND I HAVE DIFFICULTY USING THE SAID LEFT ARM, IT'S ALMOST LIKE A NON EXISTENCE LIMB AS WELL AS MY LOWER BACK (I'M ONLY 5 FOOT 2 INCHES) IT MESSED UP FOUR DISC PINCHING OFF NERVES LEAVING MY LEFT LEG FROZE UP AND I HAVE TO USE A CANE TO BE ABLE TO WALK. I CAN NOT HAVE SURGERY TO FIX THE PROBLEMS

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000.
AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY DURING A FRONT-END COLLISION. THIS VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT END COLLISION. A VEHICLE ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A LEFT-HAND TURN INTO THE PATH OF THIS VEHICLE. THIS VEHICLE HIT THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE OTHER VEHICLE, DEPARTED THE ROAD WAY AND IMPACTED A CORNER REFLECTOR POLE. THE IMPACT WITH THE POLE RESULTED IN THE FRONT END BEING PUSHED INTO A V-SHAPE AND SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE. THE DRIVER OF THIS VEHICLE WAS WEARING HER SEAT BELT AND WAS 28 WEEKS PREGNANT. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER WAS UNINJURED, BUT DID START HAVING CONTRACTIONS. DRIVER WENT TO THE HOSPITAL AND WAS MONITORED FOR SEVERAL HOURS UNTIL CONTRACTIONS SUBSIDED AND TESTS WERE COMPLETED TO VERIFY PLACENTA HAD NOT RUPTURED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2004 FORD RANGER, ONLY HAD 60,000 KM'S ON IT, DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 80 KMPH, THE LEFT SIDE OF THE REAR AXLE BROKE, AS I WAS GOING OVER A BRIDGE CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL AND STRIKING A BRIDGE, TEARING UP 20 FEET OF GUARD RAIL AND RAILING 5 TIMES. THE AIR BAGS ALSO DID NOT DEPLOY AS THEY SHOULD HAVE AS FRONT BUMPER HIT BRIDGE RAIL DIRECTLY. WAS CLEANED UP BY POLICE AND TOW COMPANY. INSURANCE COMPANY HAD THE VEHICLE AND BELIEVE THEY MAY HAVE SCRAPED IT AS THEY DID NOT WANT IT ON THE ROAD AGAIN. *TR

THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DUE TO MEDICATION, THE CONTACT FELL ASLEEP WHILE DRIVING. THERE WERE NO PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,000.

ON MARCH 06,06. EXACTLY 2 MONTHS AFTER TAKING DELIVERY OF A "QUALITY CHECKED PREOWNED " 2004 FORD RANGER PICKUP FROM A LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHILE DRIVING TO WORK AT 4:30 AM S/B ON THE I 15 SUDDENLY, WITHOUT WARNING THE VEHICLE VEERED HARD LEFT SLAMMED INTO THE CENTER GAURDRAIL THEN FLIPPED AND ROLLED CAUSING VEHICLE TO BE A CLASSIFIED AS A TOTAL LOSS BY INSURANCE CO. AFTER INSPECTION OF VEHICLE I WAS DRAWN TO THE FACT THAT THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL ASSEMBLY INCLUDING BRAKE ROTOR AND HUB WERE DETACHED FROM VEHICLE AND AFTER FURTHER INSPECTION IT APPEARS THAT THE WHEEL BEARING RETAINING ASSEMBLY IS AT FAULT. THE SPINDLE IS FLAT ON BOTH TOP AND BOTTOM OF THE THREADED TIP WHERE THE WHERE THE AXLE NUT THREADS SHOULD MESH AND HOLD, BUT THE THREADS OF THE NUT ARE DESIGNED IN SUCH A MANNER AS TO NOT BE CONTINUOUS,BUT INSTEAD THEY ARE SEPARATED TO WHERE 2/4 S OF THE INSIDE AREA IS THREADED AND THE OTHER 2/4 S HAS NO THREADS AND ARE STAGGERED IN SUCH A WAY AS TO ALLOW THE AXLE NUT IF ALLOWED TO SPIN AT ALL EVEN JUST 1/8 OF A TURN TO POP OFF WITH LITTLE RESISTANCE EXCEPT FOR THE SMALL LOOKING COTTER PIN WHICH CAME OUT IN PIECES MAYBE BECAUSE THE PRESSED METAL CASTLE NUT WANNA BE WHICH IS OF A LOOSE FITTING STYLE COULD EASILY HAVE WORN THE COTTER PIN WITH ITS RATHER SHARP EDGES SEEMINGLY FROM JUST NORMAL USE AND EVEN MORE SO IF THE WHEEL WAS NOT ADJUST PERFECTLY OR IF THE WHEEL SEAL WAS NOT SEATED PERFECTLY WHICH AFTER SOME TIME WOULD CAUSE A MORE PRONOUNCED LOOSENESS IN THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY THUS CAUSING THE AFOREMENTIONED DANGEROUS RESULTS. I WAS SHOCKED WHEN I SAW THE SYSTEM USED AND I CANNOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME WHICH I AM LUCKY TO STILL HAVE UNDERSTAND HOW THAT DESIGN COULD BE CONSIDERED SAFE ABOVE OTHER DESIGNS THAT ARE OF SOLID MATERIALS WITH CONSTANT THREADS THAT WOULD HAVE TO SPIN COMPLETELY OFF MANY COMPLETE TURNS RATER TAN JUS 1/8 TO 1/4 OF ONE TURN. PLEASE WOULD YOU LOOK INTO THIS BEFORE OTHER TRUCKS MAKE UNANNOUNCED TURNS FOR THE WORSE. THANK YOU.

2004 RANGER XLT PICKUP TRUCK HAD FRONTAL COLLISION WITH A STUMP AT 35 MPH ON OCT 3 2004 DOING $10,400 DAMAGE INCLUDING BENDING THE FRAME. NEITHER DRIVER'S OR PASSENGER'S AIR BAG DEPLOYED. DRIVER HAS HEAD, NECK, FACIAL,SHOULDER AND ABDOMINAL INJURIES. DEFECTIVE AIR BAGS. *NM
WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. CONSUMER APPLIED BOTH FEET TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AND VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO HIT AN EMBANKMENT AND ROLL OVER MORE THAN TWICE. DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUSTAINED NECK AND BACK INJURIES AND WERE TRANSPORTED BY AMBULANCE TO THE HOSPITAL. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED OUT BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY.
