VEHICLE HAS HAD TWO INCIDENTS THAT MAY BE RELATED TO FAULTY ACCELERATION. PERHAPS YOU NEED TO INVESTIGATE OLDER FORD TAURUS FOR PROBLEMS CURRENTLY UNDER REVIEW ON 2006, ETC. DATES AND MILEAGE ARE APPROX. I DO NOT HAVE REPORTS AVAILABLE. VEHICLE HAD SPEED CONTROL. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK THE ACCELERATOR SUDDENLY REVVED UP WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES. HAPPENED SO SUDDENLY THE CAR WENT OUT OF CONTROL BOUNCED OVER PARKING LOT BUMP AND HIT OTHER VEHICLES CAUSING DAMAGES TO THOSE AS WELL AS MY VEHICLE AND INJURY TO ME AS WELL AS COST ME A TICKET. THAT WAS IN 2006 AS I RECALL. IN JANUARY, 2009 OR DECEMBER, 2008 THE ACCELERATOR SUDDENLY REVVED UP AGAIN WHEN I WAS PULLING INTO TRAFFIC FROM A PARKING LOT ON TO THE HIGHWAY. I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND VOLUNTEERS HELPED PUSH THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD. I HAD IT TOWED AND HAVE HAD IT STORED IN MY DRIVEWAY SINCE. NO ONE HAS EVER SCANNED, ETC. TO DETERMINE WHAT WAS WRONG. IS IT SAFE TO EVEN SELL TO ANYONE? MILEAGE FOR THE SECOND INCIDENT WAS APPROX. 147000. I HAVE A MANDATE FROM THE CITY TO REMOVE THE VEHICLE BY MAY, 2012 OR FACE FINES THEREFORE IF YOU NEED ANYTHING TEST NEEDS DONE BEFORE THEN. MESSAGE PHONE ONLY INCLUDED. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1998 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS RIDING IN THE VEHICLE AS A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH. THE PASSENGER'S FRONT SEAT BELT BUCKLE ATTACHING STUD FAILED AND HE WAS NOT PROPERLY RESTRAINED DURING THE CRASH AND SUSTAINED UNKNOWN INJURIES. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 98V198000 (SEAT BELTS: FRONT: ANCHORAGE) THAT WAS ISSUED IN 1998 BUT HE AS UNABLE TO CONFIRM IF THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000 AND THE CURRENT WAS UNKNOWN.

A SEAT BACK FAILURE HAPPENED TO MY MOTHERS FORD TAURUS DURING A REAR END COLLISION, WHICH CAUSED HER TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR BECAUSE SHE COULDN'T REACH THE BRAKE OR STEERING WHEEL AFTER THE SEAT BACK BROKE. WHAT SHOULD OF BEEN A MINOR ACCIDENT TURNED INTO A VERY MAJOR ACCIDENT. AUTOMOBILE MANUFACTURERS SHOULD MAKE CARS THAT'S SEATS DON'T BREAK WITH THE SMALLEST REAR COLLISION. *JB

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED UNCONTROLLABLY TO 20 MPH WHILE IN REVERSE WHICH RESULTED IN A COLLISION. THE VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION WAS PUT IN REVERSE TO BACK INTO A PARKING SPOT WHEN FULL ACCELERATION ENGAGED. THE VEHICLE WENT OVER AN EMBANKMENT AND COLLIDED WITH A TREE. THE VEHICLE KEPT ACCELERATING AFTER THE COLLISION UNTIL THE CONTACT SHUT THE IGNITION OFF. THE THROTTLE CONTROL WAS NOT CONTROLLABLE WITH BRAKING. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CONTACTED AND EXTRACTED THE 3 INJURED PASSENGERS FROM THE REAR WINDOW. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. UPDATED 09/15/06. *JB

THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND WAS SPONGY. SEAT BELTS WERE IN USE AND MINOR INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED BY BOTH THE CONTACT AND PASSENGER. THERE WAS A POLICE REPORT FILED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. THE INSURANCE INSPECTOR HAS NOT DISCLOSED THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT ALERTED.

I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM THIS COMPANY. I EXPECT THAT ALL PARTS BE IN SAFE WORKING CONDITION... I WAS IN AN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT JUNE 3, 2005 IN WHICH WHILE TRAVELING ABOUT 50 MPH MY CAR STRUCK THE SIDE OF A FORD TRUCK THAT HAD PULLED OUT PERPENDICULAR INTO MY LANE. MY CAR WAS WEDGED BENEATH THE TRUCK AND THE FRONT END WAS DEMOLISHED WHILE THE DASH HAS EVIDENCE OF MOVING BACK AS WELL INCLUDING THE BRUISES ON MY KNEES AND LEG. MY CAR WAS DETERMINED "TOTALED" AND I AM IN THERAPY FOR MY INJURIES TO INCLUDE PORTIONS OF MY BODY FROM HEAD TO TOE. MY AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY!!! THE VEHICLE WAS SOLD TO ME IN LESS THAN SAFE DRIVING CONDITION AS THE AIRBAG WAS ONE OF MANY REASONS I AGREED TO BUY THE CAR. FORD SHOULD NOT ALLOW THE RESALE OF THEIR PRODUCT UNLESS IT IS SAFE. *NM
