UNSURE--BUT BRAKE FAILURE LED TO DEATH OF FOUR, CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT DISENGAGE, BRAKES TO THE FLOOR, EMERGENCY PULLED AND CAR WOULD NOT STOP, WENT 320 FEET BEFORE IMPACT-NOT SURE WHY, BUT WANT TO INFORM OTHERS
MY SON IS 22 YRS OLD HE BOUGHT THIS 1999 FORD TAURUS FROM A USED CAR DEALER IN MARCH 2013,HIM AND HIS GIRLFRIEND WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN,THE CAR JERKED TO THE LEFT REALLY HARD HE COULD NOT CONTROL IT NO STEERING CONTROL,NEEDLESS TO SAY HE WENT DOWN A DITCH THRU A YARD AND HIT THIS LADYS PARKED CAR IN HER DRIVE WAY TOTALING IT,AND HIT THE SIDE OF HER HOUSE,HIS GIRL FRIEND WAS CRITICALLY INJURED HAVING TO BE AIRLIFTED,THIS ACCIDENT RESULTED IN A SERIOUS INJURY AND SERIOUS PROPERTY DAMAGE,HIS GIRL FRIENDS SEAT BELT FAILED TO LOCK CAUSING HER TO GO FORWARD THE AIRBAGS DID DEPLOY BUT BECAUSE SEAT BELT FAILED TO LOCK HER HEAD ENDED UP HITTING WINDSHIELD WHEN SHE GOT JERKED FORWARD.,,,AFTER ACCIDENT HAD THE CAR LOOKED AT BY A MECHANIC,THE SUB FRAME HAD RUSTED OUT AND BROKEN AND THE LOWER CONTROL ARM HAD SNAPPED CAUSING THE CAR TO JERK TO THE LEFT AND CAUSING THIS SEVERE ACCIDENT. *TR
MY SON WAS DRIVING ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR JERKED TO THE LEFT,RESULTING IN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AT 55 MPH CAR CRASH HIS GIRL FRIEND WAS AIRLIFTED, HE LEFT THE HIGHWAY WENT THRU A LADY'S YARD HITTING AND TOTALING HER CAR AND HITTING HER HOUSE,HIS GIRL FRIEND HAS 7 FRACTURED FACIAL BONES 3 CRACKED RIBS,AND POSSIBLY A BROKEN EYE SOCKET,HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED,AFTER LOOKING AT THE UNDERNEATH OF CAR DISCOVERED THE FRAME HAD RUSTED THRU AND BROKE,THIS RESULTED TO A LOT OF PERSONAL DAMAGE AND SERIOUS INJURY. IS THERE ANY RECALL OR ANYTHING REPORTED FOR THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM PLZ RESPOND OF VITAL IMPORTANCE I HAVE SEEN OF FORDS PROBLEMS LIST THEIR WAS ONE OTHER ISSUE WITH THIS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR AT A LOW SPEED, DEER RAN OUT IN FRONT OF ME AND I BRAKE TO STOP AND AT THAT TIME THE CAR SURGED AND ACCELERATED AT A HIGH SPEED WHICH CAUSED ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR AND HIT A TREE HEAD ON. I PRESSED THE BRAKES AS HARD AS I COULD AND THE SPEED WOULD NOT DECELERATE. I SUFFERED A LARGE HEAD INJURY THAT REQUIRED 54 STAPLES TO CLOSE THE WOUND. I SPENT OVER A WEEK IN THE HOSPITAL, INCLUDING AN ICU STAY. THIS CAR IS DANGEROUS AND IS CAUSING INJURIES AND POSSIBLE DEATHS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE AT APPROXIMATELY 2 MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A PILLAR ON THE SIDE OF A BUILDING. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES TO HER NECK AND SHOULDERS. THE POLICE WERE CONTACTED AND A REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TOWED TO THE CONTACTS HOME AND WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 98,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, A DEER CROSSED IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AND CAUSED THE CONTACT TO CRASH. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE POLICE WERE NOTIFIED AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM VIA AMBULANCE FOR TREATMENT OF INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM THE SCENE. THE CONDITIONS OF THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE CONTACT'S INSURANCE COMPANY. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 167,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE IN REVERSE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED BACKWARD AND CRASHED INTO A FENCE. THE CONTACT SUFFERED INJURIES TO THE BACK AND RIGHT LEG. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER. THE DEALER DROVE THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AGAIN. THE DEALER DISCOVERED A DIRTY THROTTLE BODY AND HAD IT CLEANED. SINCE THE REPAIR, THE VEHICLE DID NOT EXPERIENCE ANY FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000. ..UPDATED 03/21/12 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED HER VEHICLE SAT ON THE DEALERSHIPS PARKING LOT FOR 21 DAYS AND FORD DID NOT SEND AN INVESTIGATOR. UPDATED 03/23/12
MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BOARD, AND I COULD NOT STOP SO I CRASHED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND IT IN TURN CRASHED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF IT. *TR
ON FEBRUARY 10TH, 2008, MY FRONT WINDSHIELD SUDDENLY SHATTERED, LEAVING A HOLE IN IT'S CENTER AND "CRACKLING" THE REMAINING PART OF THE WINDOW, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO SEE THROUGH IT. I IMMEDIATELY SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES (THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS ON THE ROAD AT THE TIME) CAUSING THE CAR TO JERK VIOLENTLY TO THE RIGHT 90 DEGREES AND SLAM HEAD FIRST INTO AN ELECTRICAL UTILITY BOX. THE CAR CONTINUED TO SPIN AROUND WHICH DROVE IT OVER AN ISLAND IN THE CENTER OF THE ROAD AND INTO A ROAD SIGN AND WHILE STILL SPINNING, SMASHED INTO A UTILITY POLE NEXT TO THE UTILITY BOX. DURING THIS ENTIRE INCIDENT, I COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD AND WAS NOT AWARE WHAT THE CAR WAS HITTING OR WHAT DIRECTION IT WAS MOVING. WHEN THE CAR HIT THE UTILITY BOX, I WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 35MPH. AFTER REBOUNDING FROM THE UTILITY BOX INTO THE CENTER ISLAND AND SPINNING TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE I HIT THE UTILITY POLE, THE VEHICLE FINALLY CAME TO REST. DURING THE SPINNING AND HITTING AND BOUNCING (A LIGHT WORD FOR WHAT WAS HAPPENING) THE SHOULDER HARNESS ON MY 1999 FORD TAURUS SE FAILED TO HOLD ME SECURELY AGAINST MY SEAT AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. IT HAS NOW BEEN 49 WEEKS SINCE THIS HAPPENED AND AFTER MANY COMMUNICATIONS BETWEEN MYSELF AND ANTELOPE VALLEY FORD IN LANCASTER, CALIFORNIA, WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR IN MARCH 2005 AS A PRE-OWNED VEHICLE WITH 52,000 MILES ON IT, AND CORRESPONDENCE WITH FORD MOTOR CO. IN DEARBORNE, MICHIGAN, TO WHOM I SENT ALL REQUESTED DOCUMENTS AND COPIES OF LETTERS TO AV FORD RE: THE 4 TIMES I TRIED TO GET THEM TO FIX AN ALIGNMENT PROBLEM CAUSING IT TO PULL RIGHT, ESPECIALLY WHEN BRAKING. I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER "CAR WILL ALWAYS PULL TO RIGHT DUE TO FRONT WHEEL DRIVE TORQUE". I ASKED FOR MY $5,000.00 DOWN PAYMENT AND RELEASE FROM THE CONTRACT. I WAS IGNORED. FORD MOTOR CO. SAID NOT ENOUGH IMPACT FOR AIRBAGS. THE CAR HAS BEEN REPAIRED. I NOW KNOW THE COMPUTER MODULE FOR AIRBAG USE WAS NEVER SET, BUT NO DASH WARNING LIGHT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE CONTACT'S VISIBILITY WAS HINDERED BY DUST FROM THE LARGE STREET SWEEPING VEHICLES. SHE DID NOT SEE THE PRECEDING VEHICLE AND REAR-ENDED THE VEHICLE. NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND THE CONTACT WAS NOT GIVEN AN EXPLANATION AS TO THE CAUSE OF THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE DRIVER WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL AND SUSTAINED NUMEROUS BRUISES AND SWELLING. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT SHE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 140,000.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 55 MPH WHEN I HEARD A BIG BANG AND MY CAR WAS HEADED TO THE OTHER LANE OF THE ROAD. I TRIED GETTING THE CAR UNDER CONTROL, WHEN I HIT A MAIL BOX AND MY AIR BAG DEFLATED. I WAS THEN THROWN UP INTO THE AIR AND RAN STRAIGHT INTO A PILE OF HARD WOOD LOGS. THERE WERE ABOUT 40 LOGS SITTING IN THE PILE. I HIT HALF WAY UP THE PILE WHICH SENT A LOG THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD AND DIRECTLY INTO MY FACE. I WAS KNOCKED OUT COLD. WHEN I AWOKE I FOUND THE AMBULANCE CREW TRYING TO REMOVE ME FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CAR HIT SO HARD THAT IT FOLDED IT ALMOST IN HALF. THANK GOD I AM STILL ALIVE BUT I LOST ALL MY FRONT TEETH, MY COLLAR BONE WAS PULLED OUT THE SOCKET, I HAD WHIPLASH, MY BACK WAS HURT AND IS STILL BOTHERING ME TO THIS DAY. I STILL HAVE FLASHBACKS FROM THIS DAY. I MUST TO HAD A GUARDIAN ANGLE WITH ME THAT DAY BECAUSE PEOPLE STILL CANNOT BELIEVE HOW I WALKED AWAY FROM THAT ACCIDENT THAT DAY. *JB
WHEN STOPPED AND ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT INTO PARK, THE ENGINE ACCELERATED TO OVER 3000 RPM'S, RESULTING IN AN IMPACT TO A BRICK WALL. THERE WERE ATTEMPTS TO PLACE THE SHIFT IN PARK, TURN THE KEY OFF, AND THE ATTEMPTS TO PULL KEY OUT WERE ALL FAILURES. THE ENGINE ACCELERATION CONTINUED. *BF *SC
MY VEHICLE WAS HIT AT AN ESTIMATED 50 MPH BY A DRIVER WHO BLEW A RED LIGHT. IT WAS HIGH JUST IN FRONT OF THE DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL. THE AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY DURING THE CRASH. MY VEHICLE WAS TOTALED IN THIS CRASH. IT PROBABLY WOULD NOT HAVE MADE MUCH OF A DIFFERENCE IF THEY HAD NOT DEPLOYED. HOWEVER I WAS ADVISED THAT A REPORT SHOULD BE MADE TO NHTSA. *JB
TRANSMISSION PARK ROD BROKE WITHOUT WARNING. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO ROLL BACKWARDS DOWN A DRIVEWAY AND HIT A MAIL BOX. IT CONTINUED DOWN HILL AT 80 MPH AND WENT THROUGH A YARD BEFORE COMING TO A STOP. THE SHIFT LEVER WAS STILL IN PARK.*AK *JB
WHILE DRIVING ON PA TURNPIKE ON FEB 6, 2004, THE DRIVER SIDE CONTROL ARM BROKE CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL TO THE VEHICLE, RESULTING IN DAMAGE TO THE FRAME AND RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE BEING DEEMED A "TOTAL LOSS".*AK

VEHICLE'S ENGINE ACCELERATED TO 3000 RPM'S RESULTING IN VEHICLE HITTING A BRICK WALL.*MR WHEN THE CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO PLACE THE GEAR IN PARK, THE ENGINE ACCELERATED, IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO STOP THE HIGH RPM RATE THE ENGINE HAD ATTAINED. THE VEHICLE JUMPED AN EIGHT INCH CURB CROSSED A SIDEWALK AND A GRASSY AREA OF TWENTY FEET AND VIOLENTLY HIT A BRICK WALL. THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO PLACE THE GEAR INTO PARK, TURN THE ENGINE OFF OR PULL THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. *JB

THE CONSUMERS VEHICLE WAS HIT WHILE DRIVING AND THE AUTOMOBILE SPUN AROUND THREE TIMES THEN HIT A POLE. BOTH AIR BAGS DEPLOYED BUT THE DRIVERS AIR BAG BURST OPEN AND A WHITE SUBSTANCE CAME OUT OF IT. PLEASE GIVE RESPONSE IN REGARDING AIR BAGS. *CB *JB
