TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2005 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING AT 15 MPH, THE DRIVER ACCIDENTALLY DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL INSTEAD OF THE BRAKE PEDAL. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER BOTH SUSTAINED INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE SUFFERED FATAL INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 137,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS WIFE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHICH RESULTED IN HER DEATH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. THERE WAS NO ONE ELSE IN THE VEHICLE. THE POLICE REPORT STATED THAT THE DRIVER RAN A STOP SIGN AND WAS HIT ON THE DRIVER SIDE BY ANOTHER VEHICLE WHICH CAUSED THE FATALITY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BEFORE THE INCIDENT, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL HAD OCCASIONALLY STUCK AND THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT TO BE THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH A LOCAL DEALER WHO STATED THAT THEY HAD HEARD OF NO SUCH FAILURES WITH THE MODEL. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 260,000. ON OCTOBER 25, 2013 I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, THE ACCELERATOR TOOK OFF ON ITS OWN (IT WAS LIKE SOMEONE ELSE WAS PUSHING THE GAS PEDDLE) AND I LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I HIT THE FENCE, THEN THE CAR TURNED HIT THE TREE UNTIL THE CAR CAME TO A STOP. MY WHOLE DRIVER SIDE IS PUSHED IN, MY WINDSHIELD IS CRACKED, THE TRUNK FLEE UP, MY REAR VIEW MIRROR, THE OUTSIDE MIRROR, AND HEAD LIGHT IS OFF. THE HOOD IS BENT AND THE ENGINE WAS ON THE GROUND. KNOWN OF THE TIRES WERE FLAT. THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. I HIT MY FACE AND CHIN ON THE STIRRING WHEEL. MY RIBS ARE BRUISED AND MY FACE IS SWOLLEN. I CHIPPED MY TOOTH ON THE WHEEL. MY BABY WAS IN THE BACK SEAT, THE INSIDE SEATS FELL DOWN. SHE WAS NOT HURT THANK GOD NOTHING MAJOR HAPPEN TO US. *TR
DRIVING IN A NEIGHBORHOOD AT 30MPH, WHILE GOING UP A STEEP HILL CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, ATTEMPT TO BRAKE WAS UNSUCCESSFUL, PUT IN NEUTRAL AND SHUT OFF IGNITION CAUSING CAR TO GO BACK DOWN HILL INTO A BUILDING. *TR
2005 FORD TAURUS. LETTER SENT FROM ATTORNEY ON BEHALF OF CLIENT IN REGARDS TO SUDDEN ACCELERATION *TGW THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES IN AN ACCIDENT ON AUGUST 1, 2011. AS THE DRIVER EXITED THE CAR WASH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THE DRIVER WENT OVER A CURB AND INTO A PARKING LOT OF A BUILDING. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER HAD TO BE EXTRICATED FROM THE VEHICLE. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DEPRESSED TO THE FLOOR BOARD, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH BOTH FEET, BUT THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO REV. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE DRIVER OF THAT VEHICLE THEN CRASHED INTO THE FOLLOWING VEHICLE. THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS OF THE TWO OTHER VEHICLES INVOLVED WERE INJURED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED FIVE DIFFERENT TIMES. THE POLICE REPORTED TO THE SCENE AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES. THE TECHNICIANS WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THERE WAS AN INVESTIGATION UNDER NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE12005 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:CABLES) THAT MAY BE RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000.
FIRST, I WANT TO SAY THAT THIS VEHICLE IS WELL MAINTAINED AND SERVICED ON A REGULAR BASIS. IT WAS A PLEASANT SUMMER DAY BUT HAD MORE OF A AUTUMN FEELING WHETHER. I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE IN EAST TENNESSEE, I HAD JUST MERGE ONTO THE INTERSTATE AND HAD BEEN DRIVING FOR MAYBE 10 MINUTES. I SLOWED DOWN FOR TRAFFIC TO ABOUT 40 MPH AS I CREST A HILL. WHEN I STEPPED BACK ONTO THE GAS (GOING DOWN HILL NOW), I FELT THE CAR SHIFT INTO 4 GEAR. I THEN FELT, AND HEARD A POP SIMILAR TO A BLOWOUT, BUT IN REALITY IT WAS THE CAR SLIDING OUT OF GEAR. I HAD ONLY MANAGED TO REACH ABOUT 50MPH WHEN THE CAR STOP ACCELERATING, (I PUT ON MY HAZARDS) I WAS TRYING TO COAST TO A SAFE PLACE, BUT THE CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS MADE NO PLACE TO PULL OFF. WITHIN 5 SECONDS, A CAR TRAVELING BEHIND ME WAS BUMPED BY A TRACTOR TRAILER AND WAS KNOCKED INTO ME. MY FORD MECHANIC SAYS THE TRANSMISSION IS SHOT AND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WENT OUT (WAS THAT THE POPPING NOISE? I WONDER.) $3500 TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE GOOGLE 05 TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AND HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS OVER 500 PROBLEMS THAT HAVE TO DO WITH. I DON'T KNOW WHETHER FORD WAS TRYING TO SAVE A FEW DOLLARS, OR IF THEY WERE TRYING TO SAVE FUEL MILEAGE, BUT THIS TRANSMISSION IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER FORD IF THIS PROBLEM DOESN'T GET RESOLVE BY FORD RECALLING THESE TRANSMISSIONS. LAST LAUGH, INSURANCE COMPANIES WILL REPAIR ANY CAR TO THE QUALITY IT WAS JUST BEFORE THE WRECK (NO BETTER, NO WORSE.). SINCE MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT BEFORE THE CAR WRECK, THEY CAN REPLACE IT, ERGO... THE INSURANCE COVERS THE BODY WORK, BUT WILL NOT COVER THE TRANSMISSION. MY QUESTION TO FORD IS DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE YOU FIX YOUR ERRORS. MY FATHER WORKED AT FORD FOR 22 YEARS; HE WOULD BE.... REALLY DISAPPOINTED TO SEE WHAT FORD PASS FOR QUALITY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD EXHIBIT RELATIVELY HIGH ENGINE RPMS AND WOULD ACCELERATE WITHOUT DRIVER INTENT AT INTERVALS OF TEN MINUTES. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD BECOME UNUSUALLY HARD AND RESISTANT WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT CONFIRMED ON ONE OCCASION WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 30 MPH, HE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE DUE TO THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN ENGINEER; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,296 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 103,296.
I WAS INVOLVED IN A REAREND ACCIDENT RECENTLY ON HWY 4 E IN PITTSBURGH NEAR THE LOVERIDGE FREEWAY EXIT. MY VEHICLE WAS HIT AT A SPEED HARD ENOUGH TO THROW MY BODY BACKWARDS THEN FORWARD WHICH CAUSED MY FACE TO HIT THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS FORCE CAUSED A HEAD INJURY, FACIAL LACERATION, FACIAL CONTUSION ETC. AND THE AIRBAG NEVER DEPLOYED. *TR
I WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT END COLLISION ON THE KENAI SPUR HWY. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR
DRIVERS DOOR COLLISION, VEHICLE EQUIPPED WITH SIDE AIR BAGS BUT DID NOT DEPLOY. HAD BAGS DEPLOYED GLASS INJURY WOULD NOT HAVE OCCURRED. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 FORD TAURUS WHICH IS EQUIPPED WITH A "PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF" FEATURE. ACCORDING TO THE OWNER'S MANUAL, THE CAR IS SUPPOSED TO DETERMINE IF A CHILD WEIGHS ENOUGH FOR THE AIRBAG TO BE DEPLOYED AND IF NOT THE AIRBAG IS SUPPOSED TO BE DISABLED AND A LIGHT NEAR THE HEAT/AIR CONTROLS WILL LIGHT UP STATING "PASS AIRBAG OFF." THIS FEATURE WAS ONE OF THE DECIDING FACTORS WHEN WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE. RECENTLY I HAD AN ACCIDENT WHEN MY VEHICLE LEFT THE ROAD STRIKING A UTILITY POLE. THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED WITH MY BARELY 60 POUND DAUGHTER IN THE FRONT SEAT. WE ALL KNOW THAT AIRBAGS ARE DANGEROUS, HOWEVER MANY PARENTS DEPEND ON THIS SPECIAL FEATURE THAT IS SUPPOSED TO AUTOMATICALLY TURN OFF THE AIRBAG WHEN THEIR SMALL CHILD OR CARSEAT IS IN THE FRONT.
TL*- WHILE DRIVING THE 2005 FORD TAURUS AT 20-25 MPH IN ICY CONDITIONS THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE INTO A WALL ATTEMPTING TO MISS STRIKING A SECOND VEHICLE WHO HAD BRAKED SUDDENLY. AFTER THE VEHICLE STRUCK THE WALL IT CONTINUED TO SLIDE OUT OF CONTROL AND STRUCK A THIRD VEHICLE HEAD ON ABOUT 20 YARDS AWAY, WHICH WAS STATIONARY BECAUSE IT WAS INVOLVED IN ANOTHER CRASH. THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. ALTHOUGH THE CONTACT WAS WEARING A SEAT BELT, HE WAS NOT SURE IF THE PRETENSIONER DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED SEVERE FRONT END DAMAGE AND WAS NOT OPERATIONAL. THE CONTACT WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL WITH BRUISING. THE CONTACT HAS PICTURES AND WILL RECEIVE THE POLICE REPORT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND CURRENT WERE BOTH 89000. *AK

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 70MPH ON THE INTERSTATE THE VEHICLE REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A GUARD RAIL. THE AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE DRIVER'S SEATBELT FAILED TO RESTRAINT THE OCCUPANT. THE DRIVER'S HEAD HIT THE WINDSHIELD AND HEAD INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THERE WAS A POLICE REPORT FILED AT THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH AND THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS IMPACTED IN THE FRONT END ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE PASSENGER SUFFERED INJURIES TO THE STERNUM AND HEAD AREA. THE PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE WERE ALL WEARING SAFETY RESTRAINTS WHICH PROHIBITED ANY FURTHER INJURIES. THE POLICE WERE AT THE SCENE AND FILED A WRITTEN REPORT. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY AND DEEMED TOTALED.
DT: THE CONTACT STATED A GARBAGE TRUCK PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF THE CONTACT'S SON'S VEHICLE CAUSING A REAR END COLLISION AT 50 MPH. UPON IMPACT, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. ALL OCCUPANTS WERE WEARING SEAT BELTS. THE CONTACT HIT THE STEERING WHEEL AND SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED, AND A POLICE REPORT WAS A TAKEN. ON OCTOBER 28,2005 I WAS VACATIONING IN HILTON HEAD S.C. I RENTED A 2005 FORD TAURUS FROM AVIS RENTAL AT THE SAVANNAH GEORGIA AIRPORT. ON OCTOBER 30, AT APPROXIMATELY 10:40 AM I WAS PROCEEDING WESTBOUND ON U.S. 278 TOWARD HIGHWAY 170. I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 50 - 55 MPH IN A 55 MPH ZONE. AT THAT TIME A 2002 KIA 4 DOOR CAME OFF PRIVATE PROPERTY OF THE ST. GREGOREY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH ACROSS THE TWO WESTBOUND LANES. I ACTIVATED THE BRAKES AND SWERVED TO MISS THE VEHICLE HOWEVER WE COLLIDED. MY VEHICLE HIT THEIRS BROADSIDE AT MY ESTIMATE OF 25 - 30 MPH AT IMPACT. THE IMPACT WAS TO THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THEIR VEHICLE. AT THE TIME OF THE COLLISION, THE ANTI- LOCK BRAKES ON MY VEHICLE LOCKED SO I WAS UNABLE TO STEER OUT OF THE PATH OF THE KIA. AT THE TIME OF THE COLLISION NEITHER THE DRIVER OR PASSENGER AIRBAGS DEPLOYED ON MY VEHICLE. THE DRIVER OF THE KIA WAS AIRLIFTED TO SAVANNAH, GEORGIA AND HER HUSBAND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE SAME HOSPITAL BY GROUND AMBULANCE. MY WIFE WAS TRANSPORTED BY AMBULANCE TO CAROLINA COASTAL HOSPITAL IN BLUFFTON, S.C. I SENT THIS INFORMATION ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO BUT HAVE HAD NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF IT BEING RECEIVED SO I AM RESUBMITTING IT. *JB
ON 10/28/05 I RENTED A FORD TAURUS AT THE AIRPORT IN SAVANNAH, GEORGIA WHILE VACATIONING IN HILTON HEAD, SOUTH CAROLINA. ON 10/30/05 I WAS DRIVING WESTBOUND IN THE SLOW LANE ON U.S. 278, A FOUR LANE HIGHWAY DIVIDED BY A 40 -60 FT GRASS DIVIDER IN ROUTE TO BEUFORD S.C. MY SPEED WAS ABOUT 50 -55 MPH WITH A POSTED LIMIT OF 55 MPH. ABOUT 150 FEET IN FRONT OF ME, I CAUGHT A GLIMPSE OF A VEHICLE (2002 KIA) LEAVING THE DRIVEWAY OF THE ST. GREGORY THE GREAT CATHOLIC CHURCH DIRECTLY IN THE PATH OF MY VEHICLE. I APPLIED THE BRAKES HARD, SWERVED TO THE LEFT IN AN EFFORT TO STEER AROUND THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKES OF THE TAURUS LOCKED UP AND I LEFT ABOUT 60 FEET OF SKID MARKS ON THE ROADWAY AT WHICH TIME I HIT THE KIA BROADSIDE AT THE DRIVER'S DOOR. I WOULD ESTIMATE MY SPEED AT THE TIME OF THE COLLISION TO BE ABOUT 25 - 30 MPH. THE KIA CROSSED THE DIVIDER AND TWO EASTBOUND LANES PRIOR TO STOPPING ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE ROADWAY SHOULDER. AT THE TIME OF THE COLLISION NEITHER MY AIR BAG NOR MY WIFE'S AIR BAG DEPLOYED. MY WIFE SUFFERED INJURIES TO HER SHOULDER, NECK AND KNEE. I SUFFERED INJURIES TO LEFT WRIST AND RIGHT UPPER ARM. THE FEMALE DRIVER OF THE KIA WAS AIRLIFTED TO SAVANNAH, GEORGIA FOR TREATMENT AND WAS STILL IN THE HOSPITAL ACCORDING TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY ON 11/9/05. THE MALE PASSENGER WAS TRANSPORTED BY AMBULANCE TO SAVANNAH ALSO BUT I AM UNAWARE OF HIS CONDITION. I FEEL THIS VEHICLE AND OTHER MODELS OF THIS NATURE NEED TO BE EXAMINED.
