MY FORD WINDSTAR 1999 HAS THE FRONT SPRING COIL FRACTURED CAUSING THE SPRING TO BARELY TOUCH THE TIRE AND EVENTUALLY WOULD DEFLATE THE TIRE. THIS FRONT SPRING COIL PROBLEM IS CURRENTLY THE RECALL FOR WINDSTAR 1997-98, BUT NOT 1999. THE RECALL FOR 1997-98 IS NHTSA RECALL NO. 01V199/FORD RECALL NO. 01S19. THIS RECALL SHOULD APPLY TO 1999 TOO SINCE IT HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
I WAS IN MY GARAGE. I PLACED THE WINDSTAR IN PARK. I LEFT THE ENGINE RUNNING, OPENED MY DOOR AND WALKED TO THE BACK OF THE VAN. I HEARD A CLUNK WHICH APPARENTLY WAS THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING INTO REVERSE. THE VAN IMMEDIATELY TOOK OFF AND THE DOOR CAUGHT ME AND SLAMMED ME INTO THE GARAGE WALL AND BROKE BACKWARDS. IT DRUG ME OUT THE GARAGE AND I FELL OFF. THE VAN THEN PROCEEDED DOWN THE DRIVEWAY ACROSS THE STREET. IT DAMAGED THE NEIGHBORS YARD, MAIL BOX, CABLE BOX AND SHRUBS. IT SLOWED ON A BERM AND I WAS ABLE TO JUMP IN AND STOP IT. I MOVED IT FROM REVERSE TO PARK, TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND WENT TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM WITH BRUISES AND SPRAINED WRISTS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD WINDSTAR. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE CONTACT REAR ENDED A PARKED VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA TO THE CHEST AND ABDOMEN. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A DISLOCATED HIP ON HER RIGHT SIDE AND BRUISING FROM THE SEAT BELT ON HER LEFT SHOULDER AND CHEST AREA. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. HER ATTORNEY ADVISED HER NOT TO COMMUNICATE WITH FORD. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 69,000.
WITHOUT WARNING, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. MY DAUGHTER WAS UNABLE TO STOP AND COLLIDED WITH THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HER. THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR IS FULL. THE CAR WAS SERVICED REGULARLY BUT HAD NO RECENT BRAKE WORK COMPLETED. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER COMPLETELY FAILED. THE PARTY THAT WAS STRUCK IS NOW CLAIMING INJURY. WE DO NOT KNOW THE SEVERITY OF THEIR INJURIES. *NM
AVOID THE DEER AND SLID OFF ROAD AND HIT A TREES. THE AIR BAGS ON BOTH SIDES DID NOT RELEASE. THE SPEED THAT THIS HAPPEN WAS AT 40MPH. THE VEHICLE HAS $8600 DAMAGE TO IT. THE SEATBELT WAS BEING USED, BUT THE AIR BAGS I BELIEVE SHOULD OF STILL WORKED.
WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS HIT FROM THE SIDE. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER WAS INJURED. *AK
WHILE STOPPED AT RED LIGHT, OUR FORD WINDSTAR WAS REAR-ENDED BY A FORD FOCUS ESTIMATED TO BE GOING 50-60MPH. BOTH OF US IN THE FRONT SEATS SUFFERED SEVERE CALF MUSCLE INJURIES. WE BELIEVE THESE WERE CAUSED BY THE MANUAL SEAT ADJUSTMENT BAR THAT RUNS THE FULL WIDTH OF THE SEAT. WE WERE BOTH WEARING SEATBELTS. AN ADDITIONAL NOTE: THE DRIVER'S SEATBACK BROKE ON IMPACT.*AK IS THERE ANY HISTORY OF LEG TRAUMA CAUSED BY SEAT HARDWARE IN REAR-END COLLISIONS?
THE VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED AND DRIVER'S SEAT FAILED. IT FELL COMPLETELY BACK ON THE MIDDLE ROW SEAT. USUALLY MY YOUNGEST CHILD (BABY AT THE TIME) WOULD HAVE BEEN (IN HER CHILD SEAT) IN THE MIDDLE ROW AND I'M SURE SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED IF SHE HAD BEEN IN THE VAN THAT DAY. *JB
WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH CONSUMER APPLIED BRAKES. THEN, LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE. VEHICLE WENT INTO DITCH AND ROLLED. REAR PASSENGER'S SIDE SEATBELT LATCH PLATE BROKE, AND PASSENGER SUFFERED 11 FRACTURES/ DRIVER SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES. VEHICLE WAS TOTALLED.*AK IT APPEARS THE SEAT BELT ON THE SECOND ROW CAPTAINS CHAIR DID HOLD DURING PART OF THE ROLLOVER BECAUSE OCCUPANT HAD MARKS FROM THE SEAT BELT *YH
CONSUMER APPLIED BRAKES AT 55 MP AND, BRAKE PEDAL FELT NORMAL. ABS SYSTEM NEVER KICKED IN. CONSUMER LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE, WENT INTO DITCH AND ROLLED OVER. PASSENGER SUFFERED 11 FRACTURES/ DRIVER MINOR INJURIES. VEHICLE WAS TOTALLED.*AK
BOTH PASSENGER AND DRIVER SEAT BACKS FAILED IN A REAR END COLLISION. *AK
CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD-ON COLLISION, IMPACT SPEED OVER 40 MPH IN WHICH NEITHER DRIVER'S SIDE NOR PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, CAUSING INJURIES TO THREE OCCUPANTS OF VEHICLE. *AK
WHILE PARKED VEHICLE JUMPED FROM PARK TO REVERSE, PINNING MY HUSBAND AGAINST A TREE AND THREW HIM TO THE GROUND AND PROCEEDED THROUGH THE FRONT OF OUR CLOSED GARAGE. *AK
VAN WAS RUNNING IN PARK AND JUMPED FROM PARK TO REVERSE. PINNED MY LEG TO A TREE, THEN THREW ME TO THE GROUND AND THEN PROCEEDED INTO MY GARAGE THROUGH THE CLOSED DOOR. IT THEN STOPPED. *AK

UPON TURNING ON THE IGNITION SWITCH VEHICLE JUMPED OUT OF GEAR AND SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, CAUSING VEHICLE TO RUN INTO A NEIGHBOR'S HOME. DRIVER RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING 50 MPH LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE. AS A RESULT OF AN ACCIDENT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, HIT VANK HEAD ON AND THE WHOLE FRONT END AND BUMPER COMPLETLY CAME OFF. *AK.ET.
