TRANSMISSION IN OUR 2002 FORD WINDSTAR MINI VAN MADE ABNORMAL NOISES FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP OF PURCHASE FOR INSPECTION, AND THEY ATTRIBUTED THE PROBLEM TO TIRE AND WHEEL ALIGNMENT. ALL FOUR TIRES WERE REPLACED WITH ALIGNMENT. ALSO, TRANSMISSION NOISE PERSISTED,AND VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP. AGAIN NOTHING WA S FOUND WRONG ON INSPECTION WITH INSTRUCTIONS TO RETURN LATER FOR MORE COMPLETE EXAMINATION. ON FEBRUARY 10, 2005 TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONED ACCELERATING THE ENGINE TO 3200 RPMS WITH A SPEED OF 70 MPH. VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST CONTROL AND VEERED TO THE LEFT INTO A LEFT TURN LANE, RESULTING IN A COLLISION WITH AN ILLEGALLY PARKED TRUCK AND TRAILER. SUBSEQUENT INVESTIGATIONS REVEALED THE DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY BRAKING. THE DRIVER, MY SON , WAS TRAPPED IN THE WINDSTAR MINI VAN DUE TO A COMPLETE COLLAPSE OF THE FRONT FRAME. AFTER A DIFFICULT EXTRACTION BY THE CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT MY SON WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE OF THE ACCIDENT.*AK
FRONT IMPACT ON PASSENGER SIDE, 1 MINUTE AFTER IMPACT VEHICLE BURSTED INTO FLAMES. UNKNOWN SPEED. NO INJURIES, VEHICLE WAS TOTALLED.*AK FIRE LOOKS AS IF IT STARTED FROM THE TOP OF THE ENGINE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A TRAFFIC LIGHT, AN ABNORMAL SOUND EMITTED FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE KEPT GAINING FORWARD MOMENTUM. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING ALSO FAILED TO OPERATE AS INTENDED. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE JUMPED THE SIDEWALK AND STRUCK TWO SMALL TREES. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY TURNING THE IGNITION TO THE OFF POSITION. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED WHIPLASH AND MUSCLE SPASMS, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE SUBFRAME FRACTURED, WHICH CAUSED THE THROTTLE TO SEIZE IN THE OPEN POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 11V030000 (STRUCTURE) AND 15V608000 (SUSPENSION). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,064.
DRIVING ON HWY 49 DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH WHEN I LOST CONTROL WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. LUCKILY WE CAME TO A STOP OFF THE HWY. I COULD SEE MY TIRE WAS ALMOST SIDEWAYS AND BLOWN. MY FINANCE PICKED US UP AND SAID THE AXLE HAD SNAPPED AND TOOK A PICTURE. IT IS SATURDAY AND I'M WITHOUT A CAR. I FOUND OUT THIS WAS RECALLED. I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE FORD WILL FIX THE ISSUE AND IN A TIMELY MANNER SINCE I HAVE NO OTHER CAR.

AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A FIRE HYDRANT AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED NECK AND SHOULDER INJURIES BUT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED WRIST INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE SPUN OUT OF CONTROL ON AN ICY ROAD AND CRASHED INTO A RIVER. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE RIBS AND BRUISES ON ENTIRE BODY THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
REAR AXLE BROKE IN HALF AS I WAS TURNING A CORNER AT VERY LOW SPEED, CAUSING TO LOOSE CONTROL OF VEHICLE AND RUN OFF ROAD. *TR
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, I AM SERIOUSLY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS VEHICLE AND THE WAY I AM TREATED BY FORD MOTORS. THE CAR SUDDENLY WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND ALMOST FLIPPED. THANK GOD THAT INJURIES WERE NOT THAT SERIOUS BUT THE CAR IS NOW TOTAL LOSS. AFTER TAKING THE CAR TO PRIVATE MECHANICS, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT SUBFRAME BROKE AND THE AXLES, CONTROL ARMS ALL BROKE. IT WAS THEN DISCOVERED THAT THIS WAS PART OF A RECALL. CAR WAS TOWED TO FORD MOTORS DEALERSHIP. A REQUEST HAS BEEN MADE TO PROVIDE ME WITH SAFETY REPORT ON THE VEHICLE. FORD AND ITS DEALERSHIP FORCED ME OUT OF THEIR DEALERSHIP AND KICKED ME OUT. THE CAR IS THEIR FOR MONTHS AND I HAVE BEEN SENDING FORD ONLINE MESSAGES VIA EMAIL AND PHONE BUT THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO BUY THE CAR OR GIVE ME ITS VALUE NOR FIX THE CAR. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A CAR FOR MORE THAN 4 MONTHS NOW AND FORD IS NOT DOING THE LEAST TO EVEN TRADE THE CAR FOR ANOTHER ONE. I AM SERIOUSLY DISAPPOINTED. *TR

THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR END OF A VEHICLE, WHICH CAUSED THE OTHER VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO A VEHICLE AS WELL. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH WHEN HE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE FACE AND LEG AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE. A POLICE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR FACILITY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED IN REGARDS TO THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER RESPONDED SIX MONTHS LATER STATING THAT THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH IMPACT FOR THE AIR BAGS TO HAVE DEPLOYED AND WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
I PULLED INTO DRIVEWAY AND PUT CAR IN PARK AND WENT INTO BACK OF MY WINDSTAR TO CHECK TO SEE IF THE AIRCONTIONING VENTS WERE WORKING PER THE REQUEST OF MY SON. I WAS BACK THERE FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. I GOT OUT AND WAS STANDING OUTSIDE THE DRIVERS OPEN FRONT DOOR TO TURN OFF CAR. MY SON WAS IN BACK SEAT WITH HIS DOOR OPEN AND OUT OF SEAT BELT. WHILE STANDING NEXT TO OPEN DOOR MY CAR STARTED TO BACK OUT OF DRIVE WAY WHILE IT WAS IN PARK. I TRIED TO STOP IT WITH MY ARM BY TRYING TO JUMP INTO CAR TO TURN IT OFF SINCE MY SON WAS IN CAR. IT KEPT ROLLING DOWN MY DRIVEWAY AS I TRIED TO CATCH CAR. IT STOPPED BY CRASHING INTO MY NEIGHBOR'S CAR THAT WAS PARKED IN THE STREET. THE CAR WAS STILL IN PARK .POLICE CAME. FILED CLAIM WITH INSURANCE COMPANY. I WENT TO HOSPITAL FOR MY FOOT THAT WAS DRAGGED ON PAVEMENT DURING MY PURSUIT TO CATCH MY CAR. I NOTIFIED THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME TO CONTACT FORD DIRECTLY. I FILLED OUT CLAIM AND I JUST RECEIVED LETTER SAYING THEY CAN'T DETERMINE IF THERE WAS A DEFECT. I READ IN THE PAPER LAST WEEK THIS HAPPENED TO A WOMAN WITH A FORD EXPEDITION BUT HER CAR RAN OVER SOMEONE. ALSO A FORD SERVICEMAN JUST SAID KEEP PUTTING EMERGENCY BRAKE ON AND NEVER GET OUT OF CAR WITH CAR RUNNING. I WAS ALSO TOLD I CANT' HAVE IT CHECKED OUT BECAUSE FORD WANTS ORIGINAL PARTS AND WON'T PAY FOR ANYTHING UNTIL WE CAN PROVE A DEFECTIVE PART. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY VEHICLE. SINCE THE ACCIDENT, I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THE FORD'S SERVICE MAN'S ADVICE BY ALWAYS MAKING SURE PARKING BREAK IS ON AND NOT ALLOWING ANYONE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR UNTIL IT IS TURNED OFF. I HAVE TWO CHILDREN AND NEED MY CAR CHECKED IMMEDIATELY. IT IS VERY FORTUNATE THAT NO ONE WAS OUTSIDE PLAYING WHEN MY CAR STARTING BACKING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY WHILE IN PARK. *TR
I HAD AN ACCIDENT IN MY 2002 FORD WINDSTAR IN WHICH I HIT AN EMBANKMENT, A DEER AND A TREE HEAD ON AT 35 MILES PER HOUR. THE CAR WAS TOTALED, THE ENGINE WAS PUSHED IN TO THE DASHBOARD. I HAVE TRIED SEVERAL AVENUES INCLUDING FORD TO FIND OUT WHY THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. WHAT DID THE BLACK BOX RECORD? AS TO THE EVENTS OF THE ACCIDENT. *JB
DT: THE CONTACT STATED WHEN VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT THE SECOND ROW DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BECAME DISLODGED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A SPRAINED BACK. THERE WAS A CHILD SAFETY SEAT IN THE SECOND ROW SEAT, BUT BECAUSE IT WAS REAR FACING THE CHILD WAS NOT INJURED. A POLICE REPORT TAKEN AT THE SCENE. THERE WAS NHTSA RECALL 03V459000, BUT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED DUE TO VIN. *AK
DT: THE CAR WAS PARKED IN GARAGE WITH GEAR SHIFT IN PARK AND ENGINE TURNED OFF WITH NO OCCUPANTS INSIDE. THE CAR ROLLED OUT OF THE GARAGE AND DOWN SLIGHT INCLINE IN DRIVEWAY STRIKING CONSUMER. THE CONSUMER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO BOTH LEGS. EMS AND POLICE WERE CALLED. NO INDICATIONS AS TO WHAT HAPPENED BUT OFFICER INSPECTED VEHICLE AND DID NOTE IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF AND WAS IN PARK. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE YET HOWEVER THERE IS AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE DEALER TOMORROW. THERE WAS A POLICE REPORT AND AN INSURANCE CLAIM AS WELL. I WAS INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT WHERE I RAN INTO A MOTORHOME THAT PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 40MPH AND HIT AT A SLIGHT ANGLE BUT DIRECT HIT TO THE REAR DUAL WHEELS THAT ACTUALLY DISLODGED THE AXLE OF THE MOTORHOME. MY VEHICLE WAS TOTALLED. IT HAD SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END INCLUDING THE DRIVER'S SIDE HALF OF THE BUMPER. THE IMPACT BUCKLED THE ROOF OF MY WINDSTAR MINI-VAN. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE SEATBELT APPARENTLY FAILED AS MY CHEST HIT THE STEERING WHEEL AND ALSO MY FACE. THE STATE TROOPER SAID HE SAW MY TEETH MARKS IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS CRACKED. IF I DID NOT HAVE A BRUISE ON MY LEFT SHOULDER AREA THAT SHOWED THE SEATBELT ACTUALLY CAUGHT FOR AN INSTANT AND THEN RELEASED ME INTO THE STEERING WHEEL THE TROOPER SAID HE WOULD HAVE CITED ME FOR NOT WEARING A BELT. I HAD UNBUCKLED MY BELT TO GET MY HANKY TO TRY AND STOP THE BLOOD FLOW FROM MY FACIAL INJURY IS WHY IT WAS NOT ON WHEN THE TROOPER ARRIVED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALLED SO NO REPAIR WAS ATTEMPTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A NATIONWIDE EVALUATION CENTER IN COLUMBUS, OH WHERE THEY SAID THEY WOULD HOLD IT UNTIL OCTOBER 28 IN CASE ANYONE WANTED TO INSPECT IT. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER IN DETROIT MICHIGAN AND THEY SAID THEY WERE NOT INTERESTED INVESTIGATION WHY THE AIR BAG AND SEAT BELT DID NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. I RECEIVED A FRACTURED STERNUM AND A FACIAL LACERATION THAT WENT FROM OUTSIDE TO INSIDE.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH VEHICLE DRIFTED OFF TO THE MEDIAN. AS A RESULT, CONSUMER OVER CORRECTED , WHICH RESULTED IN VEHICLE ROLLING OVER 6 TIMES AND IMPACTING A GUARD RAIL. UPON IMPACT, NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE DRIVER AND THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. *AK WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH VEHICLE VEERED INTO MEDIAN ON THE INTERSTATE. DRIVER OVERCORRECTED CAUSING VEHICLE TO ROLL OVER SIX TIMES WHERE IT CRASHED INTO THE GUARD RAIL. THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED BUT THE OTHER THREE AIR BAGS DID NOT. TWO PERSONS INJURIED IN ROLLOVER ACCIDENT.*MR
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT FLASHED ON AND OFF. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICED VEHICLE BUT FOUND NO PROBLEM. VEHICLE WAS IN A SEVERE FRONTAL COLLISION WHILE DRIVING AT 30/35 MPH. THE AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY UPON IMPACT. *PH DEALERSHIP AND FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE WERE NOTIFIED. NO ONE FROM FORD WOULD SEND SOMEONE OUT TO COLLECT INFORMATION FROM THE COLLISION BOX. THEY STATED FOR THE CONSUMER TO BRING IN THE VEHICLE AFTER IT WAS REPAIRED SO THEY COULD CHECK THE AIR BAGS AGAIN. VEHICLE SUSTAINED OVER $10,000. WORTH OF FRONT END DAMAGE. *PH *NLM

THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT COLLISION WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH. THE FRONT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER, WHO TOLD THE CONSUMER TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER. MANUFACTURER TOLD THE CONSUMER TO GET A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK WITH THE DEALER AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. *AK
