A VEHICLE TURNED LEFT INFRONT OF ME. HAVING NO TIME TO APPLY MY BRAKES, MY VEHICLE FRONT END STRUCK THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE OTHER VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 45-50MPH. IT WAS A DIRECT FRONTAL IMPACT TO MY VEHICLE OF SUCH FORCE IT KILLED THE OTHER DRIVER. NEITHER OF MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED.
The rear axle on my vehicle snapped while I was driving causing me to lose control and leave the roadway. I contacted Ford who told me there was a recall for the rear axle of my vehicle and that I would have no out of pocket expenses for the repairs and the towing of the vehicle to the service center. After they set up the towing I received a message saying I had to pay $381 for the towing before they would dispatch the tow truck. I called Ford customer service and they told me that now they can't find in their notes where they told me towing was covered. After asking to speak with a supervisor and being told they're not going to transfer me because they know their supervisor can't do anything more then what they can do I was placed on hold for an hour just to be told they can't find it in their notes and then I was hung up on. I shouldn't have to pay almost $400 to have my vehicle that just had a catastrophic failure causing me to wreck towed for servic after I was lied to about the towing being covered
ON MAY 24 WHILE BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY I WAS A PASSENGER IN MY SONS CAR WHEN IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AT A TREMENDOUS RATE OF SPEED AND WITH A LOUD NOISE AND CRASHED INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT, WHICH WAS PUSHED INTO OUR SHED. I SUSTAINED INJURIES OF 6 BROKEN RIBS, BRUISED LUNG AND CONTUSIONS TO MY CHEST. IF NOT FOR THE CAR AND SHED IN FRONT WE WOULD HAVE ENDED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL BEHIND OUR HOME. THE INSURANCE COMPANY, 21ST CENTURY, DID NOT SEND A CLAIM FORM AND IS FIGHTING PAYING FOR THIS ACCIDENT.
STEERING COLUMN LOCKED UP WHILE TRAVELING 50MPH. *TR
DRIVING EAST BOUND AT 35 MPH WHEN A VEHICLE TURNED IN FRONT OF ME AND I HAD A DIRECT HIT ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF HIS VEHICLE. I HIT THE STEERING WHEEL WITH MY CHEST. THE SEAT BELT DID NOT HOLD ME BACK AND NEITHER AIR BAG DEPLOYED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2003 FORD WINDSTAR MODEL SEL, I'M ENCOUNTERING A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM/ABS, AS WELL AS, MY CLUSTER GAUGE GOING HAYWIRE DOING WHAT IT WANTS ON AND OFF ON ITS OWN. THE BRAKING SYSTEM IS STARTING TO BECOME MORE FREQUENT. I'VE GONE TO FORD FOR THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM AND A FEW OTHERS. FORD LOOKED AT MY CAR AND TOLD ME THE REAR AXEL HAD CRACKED AND THEY REPAIRED THE AXEL ON RECALL. I INFORMED THEM ABOUT THE ABS BREAKING SYSTEM. I'VE BEEN TO TWO SEPARATE DEALERS IN STATEN ISLAND, NY. ONE DEALER TOLD ME IT LOOKS LIKE I HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM NOT SURE IF IT'S RELATED TO CLUSTER GAUGE/BRAKING SYSTEM. THEY TOLD ME I HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE RIGHT REAR WINDOW MOTOR AS WELL, WHICH FORD FIXED SUPPOSEDLY. AS FAR AS THE BRAKING SYSTEM GOES THEY TOLD ME THEY TOOK IT FOR A RIDE AND DID NOT SEE ANYTHING WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE. I TOLD THEM ABOUT THE CLUSTER GAUGE DOING WHAT IT WANTS, THE ABS WORKING/NOT WORKING. HAVING A HARD TIME STOPPING CAR, AS WELL AS, TELLING BOTH FORD DEALERS ABOUT MY WIFE HAVING NO CHOICE BUT TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE SHE WAS HAVING THIS PARTICULAR BRAKE PROBLEM. I TOLD THEM THE ONLY WAY SHE WAS TO STOP THE VEHICLE WAS TO CRASH INTO THESE BIG GREEN METAL COMMERCIAL GARBAGE CONTAINERS AT APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES PER HOUR. I SHOWED THEM THE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE AS WELL AS TELLING THEM MY WIFE HAD HURT HER NECK, I WAS TOLD FROM BOTH FORD DEALERS THAT WE DON'T SEE A PROBLEM WE CAN'T FIX A PROBLEM AND I AM NOW READING ON THE WEB THAT THERE SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS UP TO 2003 WITH EVERYTHING I HAVE EXPLAINED UP TIL NOW. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED ON AND UNOCCUPIED THE VEHICLE ROLLED AWAY AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. A PEDESTRIAN ATTEMPTED TO STOP THE VEHICLE BUT ENDED UP BEING PINNED BETWEEN THE TWO VEHICLES. THE PEDESTRIAN SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE ARM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SWERVED TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO DITCH. THE CONTACT WAS REPORTED INJURED. A POLICE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE (CARROLL TOWNSHIP POLICE DEPARTMENT 10-0910). THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM THE DITCH AND THE TOW DRIVER ADVISED THAT THE STEERING BRACKET WAS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A TOW YARD WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING THE COMPLETION OF AN INVESTIGATION THROUGH HER INSURANCE COMPANY. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WERE 106,000.
MY HUSBAND WAS PROCEEDING IN A SOUTHBOUND DIRECTION IN OUR 2003 FORD WINDSTAR WHEN HE STRUCK A VEHICLE (GMC TRUCK) THAT FAILED TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN. THAT VEHICLE WAS MOVING WESTBOUND. THE IMPACT FIRST OCCURRED WITH THE WINDSTAR STRIKING THE TRUCK ON THE PASSENGER FRONT FENDER, WHICH THEN RESULTED IN THE WINDSTAR THEN STRIKING A CURB, IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY THE WINDSTAR STRIKING A TELEPHONE POLE. THESE IMPACTS WERE ALL MADE FROM THE FRONT, HOWEVER NO AIRBAG DEPLOYED ON THE WINDSTAR. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD WINDSTAR. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. AS OF NOVEMBER 26, 2007, THE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A BACK INJURY AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SUFFERED BRUISES TO HER SHOULDER AND CHEST. MY MOTHER WAS DRIVING HER 2003 SEL WINDSTAR, A CAR HIT HER BY A CAR ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE WINDSTAR, THIS CAUSED THE WINDSTAR TO CHANGE DIRECTION AND CRASH AGAIN WITH SOME TREES, SO, THERE WERE 2 CRASHES, A TREE FINISHED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FRONT SIDE OF THE WINDSTAR, THE AUTOMATIC DOOR ON THE LEFT SIDE WAS DAMAGED AND NONE OF THE AIRBAGS OPENED, I REALLY DO NOT THINK THIS IS O.K., MY MOTHER WAS OK, WITH A LITTLE PAIN IN THE NECK BUT OK, BUT ANYWAY WE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THIS IS NORMAL, WE THINK THE AIRBAG SHOULD HAVE OPENED, IF ANYONE KNOWS THE SPEED, THE SEVERITY OR OTHER THINGS THAT NEED TO HAPPEN WITH EXACT DATA FOR THE AIRBAG TO OPEN, PLEASE LET US KNOW AT: SASHALASKA@HOTMAIL.COM THANKS
I THOUGHT THE VAN WAS IN PARK AND GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE. IT POPPED OUT OF GEAR AND STARTED TO ROLL BACK. I TRIED TO GET BACK INTO THE VEHICLE BUT IT ROLLED TO FAST AND CRUSHED MY LEG BETWEEN THE VEHICLE AND A POLE. AFTER I WAS THROWN FROM THE VEHICLE IT THEN STARTED TO GO FORWARD ON AN INCLINE. THE ACCIDENT CAUSED ME TO HAVE SURGERY TO REPAIR A BROKEN LEFT LEG. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FREEWAY FORD WHERE THE FOUND THAT THE PARKING LINKING WAS OUT OF ADJUSTMENT CAUSING IT TO POP OUT OF GEAR. PARKING LINKAGE WAS ADJUSTED.*AK
CONSUMER STATED THAT BRAKE LIGHT WORKED INTERMITTENTLY. CONSUMER HAS TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND REPAIRS WERE MADE. HOWEVER, PROBLEM RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS HIT FROM THE REAR BECAUSE THE BRAKE LIGHTS FAILED TO COME ON WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. *AK
I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT ON MONDAY, APRIL 5TH WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE EXPRESSWAY AT 60 MPH WHEN A 3X5 METAL STRUCTURE FLEW OFF A FLAT BED AND STRUCK MY FRONT AND FRONT END OF MY VEHICLE. (4000K WORTH OF DAMAGE) AND MY AIRBAD ONLY DEPLOYED A SMALL AMOUNT NOT ALL THE WAY.*AK

HOWEVER, THE PASSENGER SIDE AID BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. ALSO, THE LATCHES THAT CONNECT THE REAR SEATS TO THE FLOOR RELEASED FROM THE TWO SEATS AT THE MIDDLE ROW. SEVEN DAYS LATER FORD RECALLED 257,119 WINDSTAR MINIVANS BECAUSE THE LATCHES THAT CONNECT THE REAR SEATS TO THE FLOOR COULD RELEASE IN AN ACCIDENT......FORD WINDSTAR IS A VERY UNSAFE CAR, SPECIALLY IF YOU USE IT WITH CHILDREN!!*AK
IT HAS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. NEEDS WIRING HARNESS, NEEDS FRONT AND REAL AXLE REPLACEMENT. DANGEROUS. ALARM GOES OFF AT RANDOM. WON'T HOLD CHARGE. STEERING WHEEL BEARINGS ARE SHOT. *TR
THIS IS DUE TO A RECALL. THE REAR AXLE AND SUBFRAME SNAPPED AND FORD IS NOT HONORING FIXING IT EVEN THOUGH IT HAPPENED AT THE REPAIR SITE OF RECALL.
WAS ON THE STREET DRIVING, LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING ON DASHBOARD VAN SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET BATTERY, ALTERNATOR, BLEW OUT, WAS DRIVING AGAIN VAN WAS ILDE UP REALLY BAD AND WHILE MY FEET WAS ON THE BRAKES IT STARTED MOVING ON ITS OWN AND RAN INTO SOMEONE ELSE VEHICLE, AND ALSO VAN WAS ON THE ROAD STARTED RUNNING BAD BROKE DOWN ON A BUSY STREET ONCE I WAS PUSHED TO A SAFE LOCATION ALL MY FLUIDS WERE ON THE GROUND AND THE VAN WAS SMOKING REALLY BAD AND LIGHTS ON DASHBOARD WERE FLASHING.

THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS AND BRAKE WARNING INDICATORS WERE CONTINUOUSLY ILLUMINATED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000.

AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND IT FLIPPED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V385000 (SUSPENSION). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 158,000.
