TOYOTA TACOMA TRUCK 1998, MY SON DIED IN THE ACCIDENT 2 YEARS AGO, ACCORDING POLICE REPORT SAID HE FELL ASLEEP IN THE WHEEL BUT THE CAR NEVER WAS AN ISSUE BUT NOW THAT WE HAVE RECALL MAYBE IT WAS THE BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE. *TR
VEHICLE WAS STOPPED IN TRAFFIC ATTEMPTING A LEFT TURN. VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED BY A DRIVER NOT PAYING ATTENTION, SENT AIRBORNE, FLIPPED SEVERAL TIMES FORWARD AND SIDEWAYS, THEN HIT A PARKED CAR. AIR BAG NEVER DEPLOYED, RESULTING IN MAJOR INJURIES TO DRIVER OF VEHICLE.
I STARTED MY TRUCK AND WAS SLOWLY DRIVING DOWN A DRIVEWAY, AS I CHANGED FROM 2ND GEAR TO 3RD GEAR MY VEHICLE ACCELERATION WENT FROM 15MPH TO 67MPH WITHIN JUST A FEW SECONDS AND THERE WAS NOTHING THAT I COULD DO BUT SWERVE TO MISS THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. THE ENGINE ROARED OUT OF CONTROL. AS A SWERVED TO MISS THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME, I WAS FORCED INTO A DITCH AND THE TRUCK ROLLED OVER. *TR
MY SON WAS IN AN AUTO ACCIDENT. AN SUV RAN A RED LIGHT WHEN HE HAD A GREEN LIGHT. HIS TRUCK WAS SMASHED IN THE FRONT AND WAS TOTALED. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. VEHICLE WAS A 1998 TOYOTA TACOMA PRE-RUNNER. I'VE HEARD THAT THE AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY AT 35 MPH. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS TRUE. *TR
MY 1998 TOYOTA TACOMA EXPERIENCE UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION IN 2004. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED (WORTH ABOUT $12K AT THE TIME) DUE TO THE BENT FRAME CAUSED BY HITTING A CONCRETE WALL, THEN ANOTHER CAR IN A PARKING LOT. MY WIFE, A TOYOTA EMPLOYEE, WHO WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK, SUFFERED BUMPS AND BRUISES DUE TO THE FACT THE TRUCK ONLY WENT ABOUT 30 FEET BEFORE IMPACT. THE INSURANCE INVESTIGATOR FOUND NO PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE, AND POSTULATED MY WIFE HAD HER FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR. SHE GUARANTEED HER FOOT HAD BEEN ON THE BRAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS SHRINK WRAPPED UNTIL A TOYOTA REP COULD READ THE ELECTRONICS. HIS RESPONSE WAS THE SAME. SO WAS HERS. GUESS WHAT MODEL YEAR TOYOTA BEGAN USING THEIR ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL SYSTEM (ETCS)? 1998 - WHAT A SURPRISE. MY WIFE HAS BEEN VINDICATED. TOYOTA'S PROBLEM IS NOT WITH FLOOR MATS OR GAS PEDALS THAT STICK. IT IS WITH THE ETCS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, DUAL AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. AS A RESULT, DRIVER SUSTAINED SEVERE UPPER BODY INJURIES, AND WAS HOSPITALIZED FOR TWO DAYS. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. *AK
DURING A CAR CRASH, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.*AK WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE HIT A RAMP AND FLIPPED SIX TIMES. THE DRIVER SUFFERED MAJOR CUTS AND CRACKED SHOULDER DURING THE ACCIDENT. *YH
WHILE DRIVING 55MPH, CONSUMER REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY, DRIVER WAS INJURED.*AK *JB
SINGLE CAR ACCIDENT RESULTING IN SEVERE FRONT END DAMAGE INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WITH NO AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. DRIVER SUSTAINED SEVERE HEAD TRAUMA AS A RESULT. *AK
DRIVING AT 30MPH WHEN MY VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A 4 VEHICLE ACCIDENT. MY VEHICLE HAD MODERATE INTRUSION INTO ENGINE COMPARTMENT WITH NO AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT DID NOT CATCH CAUSING CHEST TO HIT STEERING WHEEL AND KNEES TO HIT DASH
WHEN DRIVING ABOUT 35-40 MPH, TRUCK CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF A JEEP WRANGLER, THERE WAS NO DEPLOYMENT OF DRIVER'S SIDE OR PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAGS. TRUCK WAS BEING REPAIRED. WHOLE FRONT END WAS DAMAGED, TOTAL AMOUNT OF DAMAGES WAS $9,500.00. *AK *ML
WHEN DRIVING BETWEEN 30-40 MPH AND UPON DEPRESSING BRAKE PEDAL, PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD, CAUSING EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE , AND RESULTING IN A FRONTAL COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, NEITHER DRIVER'S SIDE NOR PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER. *AK SHOULDER HARNESS DID NOT TIGHTEN UP. *YH
A PERSON TURNED INTO THE PATH OF MY TRUCK, I HIT HER @ 30MPH, CENTER OF MY TRUCK HIT THE RIGHT FRONT CORNER OF HER CAR, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *AK
WHEN PULLING INTO A TURNING LANE WENT TO APPLY THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE GROUND , THEN L TRIED TO PRESS THE BRAKES AGAIN THE BRAKES STILL DID NOT RESPOND. THEN, THIRD TIME THE REAR END BRAKES JUST SIMPLY LOCKED UP, REAR ENDING A MERCEDES 30MPH. THEN, THE TRUCK WENT TO THE SIDE AND LIGHTLY HIT ANOTHER TOYOTA TRUCK, NIETHER SIDES OFF MY AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND MY TRUCK RECEIVED HEAVY FRONT CLIP DAMAGE AND HEAVY SIDE DAMAGE, L WAS LEFT WITH NO WAY TO GET TO WORK , SINCE THEN THE TRUCK HAS BEEN REPOSSED AND LM BEING SUED APPROSS.30,000 DOLLARS. L STILL THANK GOD IM OK AND SO WAS EVERY BODY ELSE *AK
WHILE DRIVING ON A TWO LANE HIGHWAY IN A LOT OF TRAFFIC VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, AND PASSENGER HIT HEAD ON WINDSHIELD. *AK
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION AT 40MPH. UPON IMPACT, AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, AND THE RESTRAINTS DID NOT RETRACT. MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED.
FRONT IMPACT CRASH WITH A GUARDRAIL. SEVERE DAMAGE TO FRONT OF VEHICLE AT, ABOVE AND BELOW FRONT BUMPER. NEITHER AIRBAG DEPLOYED (DRIVER SIDE OR PASSENGER SIDE). DRIVER SUFFERED BROKEN NOSE AND OTHER HEAD INJURIES. IMPACT APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN TO STEERING WHEEL. PASSENGER SUFFERED BROKEN ARM. IMPACT APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN TO FRONT WINDSHIELD. I WOULD LIKE TO BE CONTACTED REGARDING THIS INCIDENT. *AK
CONSUMER WAS IN AN ACCIDENT, AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *AK
ON 10-28-98, A CAR WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP IN FRONT OF CONSUMER WITH NO BLINKERS OR LIGHTS ON, CONSUMER SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND REAR ENDED THE CAR IN FRONT, NO DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIR BAGS DURING COLLISION, CONSUMER HAD ON LAP BELT WHICH KEPT FROM GOING THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. CONSUMER'S MOTHER CONTACTED TOYOTA TO MAKE A COMPLAINT AND THEY SENT OUT AN INVESTIGATOR. THEY INFORMED HER ON SEVERAL OCCASSIONS THAT THEIR LEGAL DEPARTMENT WOULD GET BACK WITH CONSUMER. TO THIS DAY CONSUMER HAS NOT HEARD FROM THEM. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN FIXED BUT WITH THE SAME AIR BAGS. TWO OTHER TRUCKS LIKE SIMILAR IN THIS SMALL COMMUNITY OF 2000, HAVE BEEN IN ACCIDENTS. ONE HAD THE AIR BAGS DEPLOY AFTER HITTING A DEER, THE OTHER IN THEIR CRASH DID NOT HAVE THE AIR BAGS DEPLOY. DOES THIS MEAN I HAVE TO DRIVE EVERYDAY WONDER IF I GET IN ANOTHER WRECK WILL THEY WORK IF I NEED THEM? WHAT MAKES TOYOTA SO MIGHTY THAT THEY DON'T HAVE TO LET ME KNOW WHAT'S WRONG OR ARE THEY GOING TO FIX IT? * MJS
WHEN CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN A INTERSECTIONAL CRASH, TRAVELING ABOUT 35 MPH AND THERE WAS NO DEPLOYMENT OF THE DRIVER'S OR PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAGS. THE TRUCK IS BEING REPAIRED. RIGHT FRONT END DAMAGES TOTALLING $5,000.00 + DOLLARS.
