The frame is rusted so bad. The dealer wouldn’t replace due to the vehicle being registered in Florida as it’s not one of the states affected. But my Toyota came from a Pennsylvania dealer first then shipped to Florida after years of being in Pennsylvania and not having an issue up there. Now I’m stuck with a truck I can’t sell or fix. It’s not right. Where is the quality control on this.

DURING THE INCIDENT, THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END BUT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER SUFFERED AN INJURY TO THE LEFT EYE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.

THE CONTACT HAD PREVIOUSLY TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 12V092000 (AIR BAGS) BUT NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED BECAUSE THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS NOT ILLUMINATED WHEN TAKEN FOR THE RECALL SERVICE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.

THE FAILURE RECURRED TWO MONTHS LATER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 132,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

LETTER FROM SENATOR SNOWE ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT RE PROBLEMS WITH HIS 2006 TOYOTA TACOMA *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE ACCELERATOR BECAME LODGED UNDER THE FLOOR MAT. THE FIRST INCIDENT CAUSED SEVERE DAMAGED TO THE VEHICLE. THE SECOND INCIDENT HAPPENED TO THE CONSUMERS WIFE. SHE WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO A SAFE STOP WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE THIRD TIME THE INCIDENT HAPPENED THE CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE BRAKE, BUT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED OUT OF CONTROL AND CRASHED INTO A STONE WALL AND THE VEHICLE FLIPPED OVER AND LANDED ON ITS SIDE. THE CONSUMER STATED TOYOTA CONTINUED TO TELL HIM NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. MONTHS LATER THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE REGARDING THE PROBLEM, ONLY FOR THE CLAIM TO BE DENIED, BECAUSE HE COULDN'T REMEMBER WHAT SIDE THE MATS WERE ON. *JB

THE DEALER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE BY SHORTENING THE PEDAL. AFTER THE CONTACT PICKED THE VEHICLE UP, SHE WAS SHIFTING FROM DRIVE TO PARK WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED INTO THE GARAGE. SIX MONTHS LATER, THE EXACT FAILURE OCCURRED A SECOND TIME CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO A MAILBOX. THE VEHICLE FLIPPED ONTO ITS SIDE AND CRASHED INTO A DITCH. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE INTO AN UPRIGHT POSITION. THE POLICE DID NOT ARRIVE. THE CONTACT SUFFERED MODERATE INJURIES TO THE HEAD, NECK AND KNEE. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL BODY DAMAGE AS WELL AS DAMAGE TO THE EXTERIOR MIRRORS, TURN SIGNALS AND WINDSHIELD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION. ACCIDENT ON A FOUR WAY STREET, GAS PEDAL AND STEERING WHEEL STUCK. *TR
I WAS CREEPING--2 OR 3 MPH--UP TO AN INTERSECTION IN MY 06 TACOMA. WHEN I TRIED TO STOP, I COULD FEEL THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES SHIFTING AROUND, BUT THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP. IT "DROVE ITSELF" INTO THE PATH OF A MACK DUMP TRUCK, TOTALING MY TRUCK & SENDING ME TO THE CHIROPRACTOR TWICE SO FAR. IF MY TRUCK HAD MANAGED TO GET ANOTHER 2 OR 3 FEET INTO THE INTERSECTION, THE DUMP TRUCK WOULD HAVE HIT MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR INSTEAD OF THE FRONT TIRE. ODDS ARE, I WOULD NOT HAVE SURVIVED THAT CRASH. MY INSURANCE IS FINDING ME AT FAULT, TOYOTA OFFERED TO RUN DIAGNOSTICS ON THE TRUCK AFTER IT WAS FIXED. 2006 TOYOTA TACOMA DOUBLE CAB HAS HAD ACCELERATION WHEN BRAKES WERE BEING APPLIED, AND EPISODES WHERE THE BRAKE PEDAL CAN BE PUSHED COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR WITH NO BRAKE ACTION WHAT SO EVER. HAVE TAKEN VEHICLE INTO TOYOTA DEALER ON 5 OCCASIONS WITH THE COMPLAINT, BUT EACH TIME HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG (I THINK THEIR INVESTIGATION INVOLVED DRIVING IT AROUND AND SEEING IF THE BRAKES WORKED--AND THEY DID AT THOSE TIMES). THE PROBLEM IS EPISODIC, AND SO IS DIFFICULT TO RECREATE. I BELIEVE THAT THERE HAS BEEN A DEFECT IN THE BRAKING/CRUISE CONTROL/ACCELERATION SYSTEM SINCE SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED IT. TODAY I WAS DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED AND TRIED TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT. I PUSHED THE BRAKE PEDAL, IT WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE TRUCK DID NOT STOP, CAUSING ME TO CRASH INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. I SEE THAT THERE ARE MULTIPLE SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS VEHICLE. WHEN IS SOMEBODY GOING TO TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY? WHILE BRAKING, APPROACHING A TRAFFIC LIGHT IN MY 2006 TOYOTA TACOMA THE TRUCK SURGED FORWARD AND I COULD NOT STOP IN TIME. I WAS BROADSIDED BY A DELIVERY TRUCK AND THROWN ACROSS THE INTERSECTION SHEARING OFF THE POLE SUPPORTING SAME TRAFFIC LIGHT. MY VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AND I RECEIVED A CITATION FOR FAILURE TO STOP. MY FAMILY AND I WERE DRIVING IN OUR 2006 TOYOTA TACOMA. WE CAME UP TO A STOP LIGHT AND WE BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN TO APPROX 15 MILES PER HOUR THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP AND BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. I TRIED TO STOP IT BUT COULD NOT CONTROL THE VEHICLE AND AS A RESULT WE WRECKED INTO A TRUCK THAT WAS IN FRONT OF US. IF IS WAS NOT FOR THAT TRUCK WE WOULD HAVE GONE INTO THE INTERSECTION ON A RED LIGHT. THE DAY AFTER THE CRASH WE TOOK THE TRUCK TO OUR LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND WHAT DO YOU KNOW THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I HAVE REFUSED TO DRIVE THIS UNSAFE VEHICLE AND BY READING ALL OF THE OTHER COMPLAINTS THAT ARE JUST LIKE MINE I THINK THAT TOYOTA NEEDS TO FIND OUT WHAT'S GOING ON BEFORE THEY HAVE A HUGE LAWSUIT ON THERE HANDS. WHILE DRIVING 60-70 MPH HE SWERVED FROM HIS LANE INTO THE NEXT TO AVOID A CRASH WHICH CAUSED HIS VEHICLE TO FLIPPED APPROXIMATELY SIX TIMES AND SLAMMED HEAD ON INTO AN EMBANKMENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE CLEAR. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BRUISES, TISSUE DAMAGE AND A CONCUSSION. THE CRASH CAUSED THE ROOF TO CAVE, THE WINDOWS TO BLOW OUT AND SMASHED THE FRONT END. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT TYPE OF CRASH WOULD NOT HAVE CAUSED THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY AND REQUESTED PICTURES OF THE VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT IS AVAILABLE. BRAKES FAILED CAUSING A CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. *JB
ON DECEMBER 1, 2019 I WAS BACKING INTO A GAS STATION FILL UP SPOT. AS I LET OFF THE GAS TO APPLY PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES THE TRUCK REVVED UP AND STARTED ACCELERATING IN REVERSE. I APPLIED AS MUCH PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES AS POSSIBLE ONLY TO CONTINUE ACCELERATING IN REVERSE. I COULD FILL THE TRUCK'S BRAKES ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE BUT THE TRUCK'S BACK TIRES ARE SQUEALING OVER POWERING THE BRAKES. I FINALLY COME TO A STOP ON ONE OF THE POLES THAT PROTECTS THE GAS PUMPS AFTER HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE. I HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA AND THEY SENT A THIRD PARTY COMPANY TO PULL THE INFORMATION FROM THE EVENT DATA RECORDER. I WAS TOLD I WOULD GET A REPORT OVER WHAT THEY SAID HAPPENED WITHIN 30 DAYS AFTER THE THIRD PARTY HAS INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. IT HAS NOW BEEN 37 DAYS AND TOYOTA IS REFUSING TO GIVE ME ANY INFORMATION. I HAVE DONE ALL THE RECALLS THAT HAVE BEEN ISSUED ON THE 2006 TACOMA. ON ONE RECALL THEY INSTALLED AN OVERRIDE THAT WOULD HAVE DECREASED ACCELERATION IN THE EVENT THAT BOTH THE BRAKE AND GAS WERE BEING DEPRESSED AT THE SAME TIME. THIS DID NOT WORK IN MY ACCIDENT. I HAVE NOTICED ON THIS SITE THAT THERE ARE 144 OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS MAKE AND MODEL OF TRUCK OF THE SAME THING OCCURRING, YET THAT IS NOT ENOUGH TO SAY THAT THE TRUCK IS UNSAFE? I AM CONVINCED THAT THE TRUCK IS A DANGER AND TOYOTA IS NOT RESPONDING AND HAVE MISSED THE DEADLINE OF GETTING ME THE REPORT WITHIN 30 DAYS.
