CONSUMER STATES THAT WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED , VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION . THE FRONT END OF VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
OWNER WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH AND WAS REAR ENDED. UPON IMPACT, THE SEAT BELTS FAILED TO RESTRAIN THE DRIVER AND THE FRONT PASSENGER. THE BELT LOOSENED. SINCE THE SEAT BELTS LOOSENED ON THE FIRST IMPACT, THE OCCUPANTS HAD NO PROTECTION AFTER THAT AND WERE THROWN ALL OVER THE CAB OF THE VAN. *BF
WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED AND COLLIDED INTO A POLE. UPON IMPACT, DUAL AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER SUSTAINED NECK AND BACK INJURIES. *AK THE CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN TWO ACCIDENTS WITH THE VEHICLE IN WHICH THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *NM UPDATED 11/7/2005 - THE CONSUMER REQUEST THAT THE MANUFACTURER INVESTIGATE THE 1995 DODGE CARAVANS FOR FAULTY AIR BAGS. *NM
SEAT BELTS COME UNBUCKLED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. FRONT AND REAR SEAT BELTS HAVE BECOME LOCKED AND WOULD NOT RELEASE WHEN THE RELEASE BUTTON WAS PRESSED. AT LEAST ONE OF THE SEAT BELTS WERE REPLACED WHILE THE VAN WAS UNDER WARRANTY FOR THESE PROBLEMS. IT HAS REQUIRED SEVERAL PUSHES OF THE BUTTON AND PUSHING AND PULLING ON THE LAP/SHOULDER BELT BEFORE THE BELT RELEASES FROM THE PART OF THE BELT WITH THE BUTTON. THIS HAS OCCURRED IN OUR 1995 DODGE CARAVAN WHICH WE BOUGHT NEW. WE ALSO BOUGHT A NEW 2002 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN WHICH HAS THE SAME GENERATION 3 SEAT BELTS IN THE BACK SEATS AND THEY ALSO HAVE COME UNBUCKLED WITHOUT NOTICE. MY NEIGHBOR HAS A 1996 DODGE DAKOTA WHICH HE BOUGHT NEW AND ARGUED WITH THE DEALER UNTIL THEY REPLACED ALL THE SEAT BELTS BECAUSE THEIR CHILDREN KEPT COMING UNBUCKLED AND JEFF (THE TRUCK OWNER) BECAME TRAPPED IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND HAD TO HAVE THE SEAT BELT CUT TO FREE HIM. THE INCIDENT DATES HAVE NOT BEEN RECORDED BUT THE MOST RECENT TIME WITH THE 1995 CARAVAN WAS THIS MONTH APRIL 2003. ALSO THE SEATS ARE UNSAFE THROUGHOUT THE 1995 CARAVAN. ON 2/6/98 MY WIFE AND I WERE REAR ENDED IN THE 1995 CARAVAN BY A 1990 MERCURY SABLE. WE WERE NEARLY STOPPED WHILE WAITING FOR THE VAN IN FRONT OF US TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. THE PERSON BEHIND US WAS NOT WATCHING AND SHE REAR ENDED US AT APPROXIMATELY. 40-45 MPH. THIS ACCIDENT WAS WITNESSED BY THE STATE HIGHWAY PATROL MAN. THE PERSON BEHIND US WAS WATCHING INSTEAD OF WATCHING WHERE SHE WAS GOING. I WAS NEARLY PARALYZED BECAUSE THE BUILT IN HEAD REST IS NOT HIGH ENOUGH. I AM 6'1" AND MY WIFE IS 5'2". MY WIFE WAS NOT BADLY INJURED. AS FOR MYSELF, THE DISC AT C5-6 WAS COMPLETELY BLOWN APART AND COMPRESSED MY SPINAL CORD IN HALF. I NOW HAVE A BONE GRAFT AND A STEEL PLATE FUSING MY NECK. THE REAR SEATS ARE COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE! *JB

WHILE DRIVING AT 15-20MPH, VEHICLE CRASHED. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED.*AK 2 PEOPLE WERE INJURED IN THE ACCIDENT. *JB
THERE WAS A FRONT CRASH AT A SPEED OF 15-20 MPH, HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. DRIVER RECEIVED SLIGHT INJURIES, NEITHER AIRBAG DEPLOYED. VEHICLE IS TOTALLED.*AK
WHILE TRAVELING EAST ON HWY 70 (BETWEEN MOREHEAD CITY & HAVELOCK NC.) MY VEHICLE (1995 DODGE CARAVAN SE) I WAS STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE RIGHT FRONT SIDE OF MY VEHICLE. THE IMPACT WAS SUCH THAT THE AXLES WERE KNOCKED OUT. MY PASSENGERS AIR BAG DEPLOYED AND MY BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY ON IMPACT. THE BAG COMPARTMENT OPEN AFTER MY CHEST STRUC THE STEERING WHEEL. MY IMPACT WITH THE WHEEN WAS LESSENED AS I WAS WEARING MY SEAT BELT (AS WAS MY PASSENGER) THERE WAS A WITNESS TO MY AIR BAG FAILURE. THE HIGHWAY PATROL WERE TOLD OF THE FAILURE BY MYSELF AS WELL AS BY THE WITNESS. I AM CURRENTLY UBDER A DOCTORS CARE FOR EXTENCUVE SOFT TISSUE DAMAGE TO THE AREA OF MY BREAST BONE (INTERNALLY). MY DOGDGE WAS TOTALLED OUT BY THE NATIONWIDE INSURANCE ADJUSTER.*AK
THE VAN WAS STRUCK FROM THE REAR (APPROX. 35-40 MPH) AND WAS DRIVEN INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE VAN WAS DRIVEN IN AGAINST THE MOTOR, BOTH FRONT BUCKET SEAT (BACKS) WERE BROKEN, THE DRIVER SEAT WAS FACING SLIGHTLY TOWARD THE DRIVER DOOR, THE DRIVERS KNEES WERE FORCED INTO THE DASH (WITH HER SEAT BELT ON) AND NEITHER ONE OF THE AIR BAGS WERE DEPLOYED. CHRYSLER SAID THIS WAS NORMAL WHEN I CONTACTED THEM ABOUT WHY THE BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. *AK
A VEHICLE HIT THE CONSUMER IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR PUSHING THE VEHICLE INTO A LANDSCAPING WALL AND INTO A TREE, THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS SMASHED INWARD, HOWEVER THE AIRBAG EXPERIENCED NO DEPLOYMENT, CAUSING THE CONSUMER TO SUSTAIN INJURIES, THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE AIRBAG (99V113) WHICH THE CONSUMER DID HAVE SERVICED. *SLC

RECALL WORK COMPLETED ON THE AIR BAGS FOR (99V-113/FALSE DEPLOYMENT), HOWEVER DURING VEHICLE COLLISION NO DEPLOYMENT OF BOTH PASSENGER AND DRIVER AIRBAGS RESULTING IN INJURY TO CONSUMERS. MJS
WE RECEIVED A RECALL ON THE AIR BAGS IN AUGUST OF 1999. TOOK THE VAN TO AUDUBON CHRYSLER CENTER IN HENDERSON , KY. TO BE CHECKED OUT. WE WERE TURNING INTO OUR DRIVEWAY WHEN A CAR TOPPED THE HILL HIT US. THE POLICE, THE WRECKER DRIVER, AND THE BODY SHOP GETTING US AN ESTIMATE , COULD NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THE AIR BAGS DID NOT ACTIVATE. THEY HAD TO HAUL OUR VAN ON A FLATBED TRUCK COULD NOT TOW IT IN. MY HUSBAND HAS A BRUISE ACROSS HIS STOMACH AND A KNEE BLEEDING AND BRUISED. I HAVE A CRACKED RIB PLUS BRUISES AND FOOT AND KNEE BRUISES. BOBBY MISSED TWO DAYS WORK, AND I HAVEN'T WORKED SINCE THE WRECK ON THE 30 OF NOVEMBER. TODAY IS THE 9 OF DECEMBER. MY QUESTION IS HOW MANY 95 VANS ARE THERE OUT ON THE ROAD WITH THE SMA AIR BAGS PROBLEM? WOULD THERE BE ANY SURIVORS IF THEIR AIR BAGS DON'T GO OFF? A VERY CONCERNED CUSTOMER. *AK

OWNER STATES THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 55-60 MPH ANOTHER VEHICLE CUT VEHICLE OFF, CAUSING IT TO FLIP OVER ON ITS SIDE AND SLIDE. OWNER NOTES THAT HIS REAR HATCH CAME OPEN AFTER HE HAD RECALL WORK DONE FOR FAULTY LIFT GATE LATCH.OWNER ALSO NOTES THAT HIS SON WAS THROWN OUT OFF VEHICLE.
IN DRY WEATHER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND FAILED, ABS SYSTEM CAME ON AND DISENGAGED MECHANICAL BRAKES, REARENDED CAR IN FRONT . *AK
DRIVER WAS REARENDED AND THE DRIVER'S SEATBACK TWISTED AND WENT BACKWARDS, DRIVER WAS INJURED. *AK
IN AN ACCIDENT AT 11:00 POSITION, 35MPH, THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SIDE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER GOT INJURED BY HITTING THE SUNVISOR. *AK
