HEAD ON COLLISION AT 40 MPH WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE,THEIR SPEED IS UNDETERMINED, THE DRIVERS FRONTAL AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY BOTH VEHICLES TOTALED. 1 MAJOR INJURY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, THE FRONT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER'S HEAD HIT THE STEERING WHEEL. THE DRIVER RECEIVED 20 STITCHES AND HAD CONTINUOUSLY BEEN HAVING BAD HEADACHES. *AK *SCC *JB
DRIVER STATED THAT BRAKES FAILED ON VEHICLE WHILE TRYING TO STOP AT INTERSECTION RESULTING IN CRASH WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. *LA
I JUST EXPERIENCED A VERY SEVERE AUTO ACCIDENT IN MY 2001 DODGE RAM, THE TRUCK WAS TOTALED AND THE JAWS OF LIFE HAD TO BE USED TO EXTRACT ME FROM THE VEHICLE. I HAD CONTACTED MY DEALER PRIOR TO THIS (SEVERAL MONTHS AGO) COMPLAINING OF STEERING PROBLEMS (WANDERING), AND THE DEALER INFORMED ME,THEY COULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE HE WAS RECEIVING PRESSURE FROM DODGE TO STOP REPLACING STEERING COMPONENTS ON THESE TRUCKS. HE ALSO INFORMED ME, HE HAS A NUMBER OF DOCUMENTED CASES OF THIS PROBLEM--16 OR SO. THERE IS ALSO INFORMATION THAT THE STATE OF MAINE FORCED DODGE TO REPLACE 20 OR 30 OF THESE VEHICLES DUE TO STEERING PROBLEMS. I WOULD APPRECIATE IT IF YOU WOULD BEGIN AN INVESTIGATION OF THIS ISSUE AS IT APPEARS THAT THERE ARE A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE STEERING OF THIS MAKE/MODEL OF VEHICLE (CHECK YOUR OWN DATABASE). THERE IS ALSO DISCUSSION ON SEVERAL INTERNET BOARDS ABOUT FORMING A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT OVER THIS. I WAS ALSO INFORMED TODAY THAT DODGE IS DENYING THAT ANY PROBLEM EXISTS WITH THE STEERING ON THESE VEHICLES AND THEY ARE FORMALLY DENYING THAT THE PROBLEM I EXPERIENCED HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE STEERING PROBLEM THAT I HAD REPORTED. *JB
MY VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A CLIFF-SIDE AT 50 MPH. THE COLLISION WAS DIRECTLY HEAD-ON. NEITHER THE DRIVER'S NOR THE PASSENGER SIDE/ FRONT AIRBAGS WERE DEPLOYED DURING THIS CRASH.*AK
WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH ON A DOWN GRADE VEHICLE WAS PICKING UP SPEED WHILE CONSUMER HAD BRAKES APPLIED. VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A TREE BECAUSE OF ACCELERATOR PEDAL STICKING, WHICH CAUSED DRIVER TO SUSTAIN FOOT, LOWER LEG, NECK, AND BA INJURIES, WHILE PASSENGER SUFFERED BACK AND MUSCLE INJURIES. INSURANCE COMPANY EXAMINED VEHICLE, AND DETERMINED VEHICLE TO BE A TOTAL LOSS.*AK *SLC
THE DRIVERS SEAT BELT DID NOT TIGHTEN UP DURING AN ACCIDENT AND I BOUNCED OFF THE STEERING WHEEL A COUPLE OF TIMES. THE SEAT BELT HAD NOT TIGHTEN UP AFTER REACHING FOR THE RADIO CONTROLS OR A DRINK, HUNG OUT THE DOOR WHEN SHUTTING IT, BUT WOULD ALWAYS TIGHTEN UP ONCE JANKED ON A COUPLE OF TIMES. NEVER THOUGHT IT WOULD NOT WORK DURING AN ACCIDENT. *AK
when car is cold and just started to drive ,and brakes used ,the front brake does not apply and vehicle is slow to stop when abs is disabled all brakes operate normal. I have hit 3 cars because brake did not work. this is a euro brake system installed on vehicles with frt disc and rear drum dodge would not fix after several instances reported to them I have been driving since new and many years with abs disconnected and no accidents since I disconnected the control unit
BRAKES FAILED WHEN APPLIED. ABS AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON WITH VERY LITTLE BRAKING. AFTER HARD BRAKING APPLICATION THE TIRES LOCKED AND SLID ABOUT 5 INCHES IN DAMP BACKTOP AND HIT A CAR STOPPED AT A LIGHT. HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO BRAKE BUT NO OR VERY LITTLE BRAKING ACTION. LATER INSPECTION SHOWED THAT ONE OF THE BRAKE LINES RUSTED THROUGH AND LOST PRESSURE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. THESE TRUCKS ARE PRONE TO BRAKE LINE RUSTING. DRIVER SEEMED TO BE FINE AND DROVE AWAY AFTER EXCHANGING INFO. HE LATER CLAIMED INJURY. *TR
WHILE MOVING FORWARD FROM PARKED, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE TRUCK ROLLED INTO A FENCE. UPON INSPECTION UNDER THE TRUCK, BRAKE FLUID WAS COVERING THE FRAME RAIL UNDER THE BED, BEHIND THE FUEL TANK. UPON RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT MULTIPLE VEHICLES HAVE EXPERIENCED BRAKE LINE CORROSION IN THIS SAME AREA. *TR
DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY HOOD FLEW OPEN AT 65 MPH. I HAD BEEN DRIVING THE TRUCK FOR SEVERAL HOURS PREVIOUSLY NEVER TOUCHED THE HOOD LATCH RELEASE ARM IN THE TRUCK IN FACT THE HOOD HAD NOT BEEN OPEN IN SEVERAL WEEKS. I THINK THERE ARE STILL FAULTY HOOD LATCHES OUT THERE ON SOME OF THESE TRUCKS AND THE OWNERS NEED TO BE NOTIFIED. *TR
THE ABS SENSOR WIRE WAS DAMAGED BY CONTACT WITH THE RIGHT WHEEL. THIS CAUSED THE ABS SYSTEM TO BELIEVE THAT THE WHEEL WAS NOT TURNING AND ENGAGED THE ABS SYSTEM MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO ENGAGE THE BRAKES. SPEED WAS APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH. THIS RESULTED IN HAVING TO QUICKLY ENGAGE THE 2001 RAM 2500 INTO PARK. THE TRUCK CRASHED INTO THE MY GARAGE DOOR. IF THIS HAPPENED IN A TRAFFIC SITUATION THE RESULTS COULD HAVE BEEN VERY BAD. IF ONE OF MY CHILDREN HAD BEEN IN THE DRIVEWAY THIS PROBLEM WOULD HAVE PROBABLY RECEIVED MORE ATTENTION. THIS WIRE SHOULD NOT EVER BE ABLE TO COME IN CONTACT WITH THE WHEEL AND THE ROUTE IS POORLY PLANNED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING A 2001 DODGE RAM 2500 4X4 V-10 ALONG INTERSTATE 50 IN SACRAMENTO, CA IN THE FAST OR LEFT LANE AND HAD INSTALLED BRAND NEW SUPER SWAMPER SSR 305/70/16 TIRES W/4,000 MILES ON THEM AND WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH THE LEFT REAR TIRE FLEW APART. THE TREAD HAD SEPARATED FROM THE STEEL CORD IN 2 LARGE PIECES AND FLEW BACK AT THE CAR BEHIND ME CAUSING A MAJOR CAR ACCIDENT INVOLVING 3 CARS NOT INCLUDING MINE. IT CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO MY TRUCK (APPRX. $3,000.00) THE POLICE DID AN ONSITE REPORT AND AFTER SPEAKING TO EVERYONE HAD DECIDED TO LET ME GO WITHOUT A CITATION OR USING MY INSURANCE BECAUSE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE PERSON BEHIND ME CAUSED THE ACCIDENT BY TRYING TO SWERVE AND MISS THE FLYING DEBRIS HITTING HER CAR. I TRIED TO TAKE THEM BACK TO THE STORE WHERE I PURCHASED THEM AND RECEIVED A RESPONSE OF CALL THE MANUFACTURER WHICH I DID WITH NO LUCK. ALL I HAVE AT THIS POINT IS PICTURES BUT NO DOT#. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 DODGE RAM 2500. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON A HILL WITH THE ENGINE ON, 30 SECONDS AFTER EXITING THE VEHICLE IT ROLLED BACKWARDS AND CRASHED INTO A LIGHT POLE. THE PARKING BRAKE WAS NOT ENGAGED. THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE CLEAR. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE MUST NOT HAVE BEEN IN THE PARK POSITION. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. *AK
DT: CONSUMER WAS DRIVING EARLY IN THE MORNING WITH A FULLY LOADED TRAILER WHEN HE LOST STEERING CONTROL AND WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE LEFT THE ROAD AND WENT RIGHT THROUGH A FENCE CAUSING LOTS OF DAMAGE TOTHE VEHICLE AND DESTROYING THE FENCE. VEHICLE WAS STILL RUNNING WHEN CONSUMER LOST STEERING. CONSUMER FOUND THAT STEERING COLUMN HAD FALLEN APART. THE SHAFT GOING FROM THE GEAR BOX TO THE STEERING COLUMN SHAFT CAME APART. THE BOLT LOOSENED AND ALLOWED FOR SHAFT TO SEPARATE. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO PUT THE SHAFT BACK TOGETHER AND DROVE THE VEHICLE TO A GARAGE. THE CONSUMER PUT LOCK TIGHT ON BOLT AND MARKED SHAFT TO SEE IF IT WOULD MOVE AGAIN. CONSUMER HAS AN ACCIDENT REPORT.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED A FRONTAL COLLISION BUT NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED UPON IMPACT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. *AK THE STEERING COLUMN HAD BROKE AS WELL. *SCC *JB
WHILE DRIVING AT 45MPH IN A FRONTAL COLLISON NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED ON IMPACT. FRONT END CAME OFF.*AK
LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL WHILE DRIVING FORCED VEHICLE OVER AN EMBANKMENT. DEALER NOTIFIED, AND REPLACED STEERING GEAR BOX. PRIOR TO ACCIDENT, CONSUMER TOOK CAR TO DEALER EXPLAINING THAT THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE RIGHT. DEALERSHIP DIDN'T CHECK ANYTHING, WHICH RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. INSURANCE COMPANY REPAIRED ALL THE DAMAGE AND REPLACED STEERING GEAR BOX. *JG *AK
VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING ON WET ROADS AND HYDROPLANED INTO A TELEPHONE POLE. METAL BRACKET OF STEERING WHEEL BROKE UPON IMPACT. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. CONSUMER WILL CONTACT DEALER. PLEAS ADD THE VIN #, MILEAGE AND ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION PERTAINING TO THIS INCIDENT.*AK
