2004 3/4 TON DIESEL TRUCK INVOLVED IN ROLLBACK ACCIDENT WHICH KILLED CONSUMER'S WIFE.***NO ANSWER REQUIRED***.*MR THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN PARK WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING, THE CONSUMER EXITED THE VEHICLE IN WHICH HE THOUGHT HIS WIFE WAS GOING TO JOIN HIM, HOWEVER A FEW MINUTES LATER, THE CONSUMER NOTICED HIS WIFE WAS NOT BY HIS SIDE AND THE VEHICLE WAS ROLLING IN REVERSE AND HIS WIFE WAS LAYING IN FRONT OF THE TRUCK. THE POLICE INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THE TRUCK WAS DEFECTIVE, IN THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER INDICATED THAT WHEN THE TRUCK IS IN PARK FOR 15-20 SECONDS IT SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT NOTICE DROPS INTO REVERSE. *JB

THERE WERE NO OCCUPANTS IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT'S LEG WAS INJURED. BOTH VEHICLES SUSTAINED BODY DAMAGE. A COMPLAINT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER, BUT NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE WITH THE VEHICLE. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 90,000.

MR. DENNIS SHANNON HAD PARKED HIS 2004 DODGE RAM 2500 AND THEN EXITED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE REMAINED RUNNING DURING THIS PERIOD. AS MR. SHANNON BEGAN TO WALK BACK TOWARDS THE REAR OF HIS TRUCK IT STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS. THE POLICE REPORT INDICATES THAT AS MR. SHANNON ATTEMPTED TO GET BACK IN THE TRUCK IT RAN OVER HIM. MR. SHANNON SUFFERED SEVERE AND FATAL INJURIES. MR. SHANNON DIED ON 7-22-2005. *JB

BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AT IMPACT! VEHICLE IS A TOTAL LOSS DUE TO THE OUTCOME OF THE COLLISION. VEHICLE STRUCK A BARN AND EXITED OUT OF IT UNTIL STRUCK A MASSIVE TREE WHICH FINALLY STOPPED THE TRUCK. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE TAYLOR JEEP DEALERSHIP FOR AIR BAG RECALL AND WAS TOLD THEY CHECKED IT OUT AND FOUND THAT I NEEDED A SPECIAL SENSOR FOR THE RECALL REPAIR AND I WILL BE CONTACTED. I'M ASSUMING WHAT EVER THE TECHNICIANS DID MIGHT NOT HAVE CONNECTED THE AIRBAGS CORRECTLY RESULTING IN THEM NOT DEPLOYING.

WALKED PAST THE REAR OF THE TRUCK TO CLOSE THE GATE. HAD JUST LATCHED THE GATE WHEN I HEARD A CLICK THAT MADE ME RAISE MY HEAD AS I WONDERED WHAT THE NOISE WAS. THEN THE ENGINE ROARED IN ACCELERATION AND THE TRUCK FLEW BACKWARDS TOWARD ME. I MOVED OUT OF THE WAY, THE TRUCK HIT THE CLOSED GATE, CRASHED THROUGH IT, PROCEEDED IN REVERSE DOWN THE DRIVE WAY APPROXIMATELY 10 YARDS, VEERED OFF THE DRIVEWAY THROUGH 4 CEMENTED FENCE POSTS AND HORSE FENCING BOARDS THAT ARE 2X6 (VERY SUBSTANTIAL BOARDS). TOOK OUT 2 SECTIONS OF FENCING BEFORE IT MET AN INCLINE IN THE PASTURE WHICH CAUSED THE RUNAWAY TRUCK TO COME TO A STOP. IF I HAD NOT HEARD THE TRUCK MAKE THE CLICKING NOISE WHICH WAS IT COMING OUT OF THE PARK GEAR, I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD TIME TO GET OUT OF ITS WAY. AFTER READING MULTIPLE OTHER SIMILAR INCIDENCES, I IMPLORE DODGE TO STAND BEHIND ITS TRUCKS AND RECTIFY THE SITUATION FOR CONSUMERS IN THE FUTURE AND THOSE OF US WITH FINANCIAL DAMAGES INCURRED NOW!!! *TR

INITIALLY ASSUMED IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRAILER. FOLLOWING A DEPLOYMENT WHEN I TRIED TO RENT A TRAILER UHAUL DETERMINED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH MY TRUCK AND A REPAIR SHOP IN KANSAS DETERMINED THE FAILURE WAS RESULTANT FROM THE POWER DISTRIBUTION CENTER PART # 68005476AA (WHICH IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER AND HAS BEEN FOR SOME TIME) IN 2011. THE FAILURE IS ON GOING AND AS A RESULT OF THE BACKORDER FOR SAID PART HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. CONSEQUENCE IS THAT I AM UNABLE TO SAFELY AND LEGALLY TOW WITH MY DODGE RAM 2500 WITH A FACTORY TOW PACKAGE. I HAVE ORDERED THE REPLACEMENT PART BUT HAVE NOT RECEIVED IT. *TR
