MY DAUGHTER HAD A HEAD-ON COLLISION WITH A MOTORCYCLE, WHILE DRIVING HER 2004 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE MOTORCYCLE RIDER WAS KILLED. THE AIRBAG IN THE COROLLA DEPLOYED AND SAVED MY DAUGHTER'S LIFE. UNFORTUNATELY, SHE STILL HAS LITTLE, OR NO MEMORY OF THE ACCIDENT. WE DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED, OR WHY? THE POLICE BELIEVE SHE LOST CONTROL OF HER VEHICLE, CROSSED THE LANE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND STRUCK THE MOTORCYCLE. A WITNESS STATED HER CAR WAS GOING FAIRLY FAST. WHY WAS IT GOING SO FAST IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA? A TRAFFIC LIGHT WAS RIGHT IN FRONT HER (ABOUT 100 FEET AHEAD). AT THAT LIGHT, SHE WOULD HAVE TAKEN A SQUARE RIGHT HAND TURN, ENROUTE TO HER HOME. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY SHE WAS GOING SO FAST. AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY SHE LOST CONTROL OF HER CAR. SHE WAS 90% OF THE WAY HOME. IT WAS ABOUT 6:15 IN THE AFTERNOON IN THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER. A SUNNY DAY, NO CLOUDS OR PRECIP. THE CAR IS BEING HELD BY THE WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA POLICE DEPARTMENT. CAN YOU INSPECT THE VEHICLE? SHE HAD COMPLAINED TO ME ABOUT THE VEHICLE PREVIOUS TO THIS. SHE ONCE ASKED ME ADD POWER STEERING FLUID. WHEN I CHECKED, THE RESERVOIR WAS ALREADY UP TO THE FULL MARK. BEING A DAD, MY ONLY JOB WAS TO MAINTAIN THE CAR (CHANGE OIL, ETC). I VERY, VERY RARELY DROVE THE CAR. AND WHEN I DID DRIVE, IT WAS FINE. THIS COROLLA WAS REGISTERED IN MY NAME. I BOUGHT IT IN 2007 FOR MY DAUGHTER (HER FIRST CAR). TL- WHILE DRIVING A RENTED 2004 PONTIAC MONTANA WEST BOUND ON BRIDGE AT APPROXIMATELY 65MPH A TOYOTA COROLLA DRIVING EAST BOUND CAME OVER THE MEDIUM INTO HIS LANE AND COLLIDED HEAD INTO HIS VEHICLE. THERE WAS TWO FATALITIES THE DRIVER IN THE TOYOTA COROLLA, AND HIS FRONT SEAT PASSENGER, HE AND THE OTHER TWO PASSENGERS WERE ALSO INJURED. HE STATED THIS COMPLAINT IS ON THE TOYOTA COROLLA. TAKATA AIRBAGS/ WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION SLOWLY TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE AIRBAGS IMPEDED THE DRIVER FROM CONTROLLING THE CAR AND CAUSED A CRASH INTO A BUILDING. THIS HAPPENED ON A PRIVATE PARKING LOT. THE CAR HAD RECENTLY BEEN SERVICED FOR THE TAKATA RECALL. NOTHING WAS STRUCK TO ENGAGE THE IMPACT SENSORS. THE ROAD AND PARKING LOT WAS FREE FROM OBSTACLES. WE WANT TO KNOW IF NON COMPLIANT SERVICE FOR THE AIRBAG RECALL CREATED A FAILURE WHICH CAUSED THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. WE ARE HAVING THE CAR INSPECTED BY TOYOTA AND WANT TO KNOW IF AN IMPARTIAL INSPECTOR CAN BE PRESENT TO OVERSEE THE PROCEDURE.

ON 8/16/16 A 2004 TOYOTA COROLLA REAR ENDED A DODGE RAM VAN AT APPROX. 65 MPH ON EASTBOUND INTERSTATE 275 AT THE 48.5 MILE POST. THE INVESTIGATION SHOWS THAT ALL OCCUPANTS WERE WEARING THEIR SEAT BELTS, HOWEVER THE RIGHT REAR OCCUPANT SUFFERED LIFE-THREATENING INJURIES TO HER LIVER AND SPLEEN. THE SEAT BELT SHOWS SIGNS OF BEING WORN BUT THE RETRACTOR DID NOT LOCK. I THINK THAT THE SHOULDER STRAP PORTION MAY NOT HAVE BEEN WORN PROPERLY DUE TO THE WAY THE SEAT BELT WAS FOUND CINCHED UP INTO THE CLASP (PICTURES ATTACHED.) A CAR CROSSED MY LANE FROM A PARKING LOT CAUSING ME TO "T-BONE" THE OTHER VEHICLE AT 40MPH. THE AIRBAG INFLATED WITH A HUGE FORCE AND NOISE, HITTING ME IN THE FACE, CHEST AND RIGHT ARM--KNOCKED ME OUT AND LEFT ME DAZED FOR A WHILE AFTER. THERE WAS WHAT I THOUGHT WAS WHITE SMOKE THAT FILLED UP THE DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER AREA. WHEN I GOT MY BELONGINGS OUT OF MY VEHICLE SEVERAL DAYS LATER, I NOTICED LITTLE BITS OF WHAT LOOKED LIKE SOME FLECKS OF DARK METAL OR PLASTIC ON THE FLOORBOARD AND PASSENGER SEAT. I SUSTAINED CONTUSIONS AND MULTIPLE ABRASIONS TO MY CHEST AND RIGHT ARM, TWO DISLOCATED RIBS, A TORN ROTATOR CUFF AND THREE BULGING CERVICAL DISKS. I HAD CONTUSIONS AND ABRASIONS ON MY KNEES.

ON SEPT 1, 2010, MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING A 2004 TOYOTA COROLLA NORTH IN THE LEFT LANE(TWO LANES NORTH, TWO LANES GOING SOUTH) ON A STATE ROAD GOING APPROX. 35MPH. SHE WAS BEHIND A 2009 NISSAN ALTIMA. SUDDENLY FROM A COUNTY ROAD A 1995 LINCOLN MARK 8 PULLED OUT ON THE RIGHT TO CROSS THE STATE ROAD TURNING LEFT OR SOUTH. THE NISSAN SWERVED INTO THE RIGHT LANE GOING N. AND CLIPPED THE MARK 8 WHILE MY DAUGHTER SLAMMED ON HER BREAKS. THE CAR LOCKED UP, LEAVING SKID MARKS AND SHE T-BONED THE MARK 8. HER CAR WAS TOTALED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. HER FRONT END WAS PUSHED TOWARD THE CABIN AND WOULD NOT TURN OFF OR MOVE. RESULTING IN SHOULDER, NECK, CHEST, BREAST, AND BACK INJURIES WITH A SWOLLEN TONGUE FROM BITING THE SIDES. THESE INJURIES ARE ALL SOFT TISSUE INJURIES WHICH WILL TAKE SOME TIME TO HEAL. SHE HAD A PASSENGER. HIS INJURIES WERE A RIGHT SWOLLEN LEG AND BACK INJURIES.
