I BOUGHT A 2006 FORD EXPEDITION AND 3 MONTHS LATER WHILE MY DAD WAS DRIVING IT ACCELERATED BY IT SELF AND MY DAD DIE IN THE ACCIDENT CAUSED BY UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION OF THE VEHICLE. *NM
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving at a low rate of speed, the vehicle would independently accelerate upon depression of the accelerator pedal without warning. During a recent failure, the contact crashed into a fence as part of the fence had become wedged underneath the vehicle. After placing the vehicle into park and exiting the vehicle, the wheels continued to move. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. Despite minor soreness to his neck, no medial attention was required. A police report was not filed. Despite the failure, the contact managed to restart the vehicle and safely to his destination. The fence sustained severe damage as a result of the failure. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 220,000.
TRAVELING ON OLD ADOBE RD IN PETALUMA, CA AT APPROX. 25-30 MPH, WENT OVER INCLINE AND SAW TRAFFIC WAS STOPPED. PRESSED HARD ON BRAKE PEDAL AND VEHICLE SLOWED BUT DID NOT STOP. RESULTED IN A 3 CAR ACCIDENT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2006 FORD EXPEDITION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45-50 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY HYDROPLANED AND CRASHED INTO A CONCRETE WALL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE SPUN AROUND 8-10 TIMES AND CRASHED INTO THE WALL APPROXIMATELY AN ADDITIONAL FIVE TIMES. THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY WENT BACK ONTO THE ROAD FACING ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE TO MOVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE INJECTORS FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG RELEASED; HOWEVER, THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CHILD IN THE REAR WAS EJECTED FROM THE SAFETY SEAT, THE PASSENGER RECEIVED INJURIES TO THE ARM, BACK, AND NECK AREA, AND THE CONTACT RECEIVED INJURIES TO THE BACK, LEG, PELVIC, WRIST, AND HEAD INJURIES. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NEEDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OPENED CASE NUMBER: CAS12509910. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
IT WAS SNOWING ON MY WAY TO AN APPOINTMENT AND MY WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. I COULDN'T SEE OUT OF THE WINDOWS AND ANOTHER VEHICLE HIT THE FRONT END OF MY 2006 FORD EXPEDITION. ALSO THE OTHER DRIVERS AIRBAGS DEPLOYED BUT MINE DID NOT. MY TRUCK WAS TOTALED. I SPENT THE NIGHT IN THE HOSPITAL WITH BACK INJURIES AND LEG INJURIES, AS WELL AS A HEAD INJURIES WHICH CAUSED ME TO TEMPORARILY LOSE MY MEMORY AND CONSCIOUSNESS. *TR
AS I WAS SLOWING DOWN AND MADE A RIGHT TURN INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN, RUNNING OVER THE CONCRETE STOP AND THE CURVE. THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AND RAN HEAD ON INTO A TREE THAT WAS APPROXIMATELY 10 FEET AWAY FROM THE PARKING SPACE. THE DRIVER AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. MY CAR WAS TOTALED AS A RESULT OF THIS ACCIDENT. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON A TWO LANE HIGHWAY, FM 185. I WAS DRIVING NORTHEAST WHILE THE OTHER DRIVER WAS SOMEWHAT STOPPED HEADING WEST, TRYING TO TURN SOUTH ONTO CATTLE DRIVE. THE OTHER DRIVER WAS STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION AWAITING TO TURN LEFT. THE OTHER DRIVER TURNED LEFT IN FRONT OF ME AS I WAS HEADED STRAIGHT. THE INITIAL IMPACT WAS DRIVER'S FRONT SIDE AND THEN DOWN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. WE HIT, AND THEN MY VEHICLE DID A 180 DEGREE TURN WHICH TURNED MY VEHICLE AROUND FACING MY INITIAL PATH OF DIRECTION. MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I HAD CURTAIN SIDE AIRBAGS, DRIVER, AND PASSENGER AIR BAGS AS WELL. THE AIRBAGS OF THE CAR CAUSING THE ACCIDENT DID DEPLOY. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD HIT BLACK ICE AND THEN SLIDE INTO A TREE HEAD ON. BOTH THE DRIVERSIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. I WAS WEARING MY SEAT BELT BUT STILL SUFFERED FACIAL TRAUMA. I RECEIVED SEVERAL SUTURES IN MY LIPS AND THE INSIDE OF MY MOUTH. I THINK FORD SHOULD INVESTIGATE AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I FEEL THAT IF MY AIRBAGS WOULD HAVE DEPLOYED I WOULDN'T HAVE SUFFERED THE TRAUMA TO MY FACE. *TR
I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, CONSTRUCTION TRUCK RAN INTO BACK OF MY 2006 FORD EXPEDITION. THE IMPACT PUSHED ME 20 FEET INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME, SANDWICHING MY VEHICLE IN BETWEEN THE OTHER TWO; THE IMPACT FIRST THREW ME BACK THEN FORWARD & SENT MY GLASSES OFF MY HEAD BUT THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I GOT A CONCUSSION & SHOULDER INJURY DUE TO FORCE. POLICE & MEDICAL PERSONS WERE AMAZED THAT AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. VEHICLE HAD FRONT END & REAR DAMAGE, WAS UNDRIVEABLE & HAD TO BE TOWED AWAY. I AM WAITING TO FIND OUT IF IT WILL BE TOTALED OUT.
LOW DRIVER SIDE TIRE INDICATOR SOUNDED A FEW HOURS PRIOR TO ACCIDENT WHERE VEHICLE FLIPPED OVER 4 TIMES 70-80 FEET END OVER END BOUNCED OFF A TELEPHONE POLE THEN LANDED IN THE OPPOSITE LANE BACK WARDS. THE LOW TIRE INDICATOR HAD GONE OFF TWICE TO WHICH THE TIRE WAS TAKEN TO THE STATION TO BE REFILLED UP TO AIR PRESSURE AS RECOMMENDED BY THE SERVICE MANUAL. DRIVING SPEED WAS CLOSE TO 50 MPH ON A SLIGHTLY RURAL ROAD WITH NOT MANY TURNS MOSTLY STRAIGHTAWAYS. JUST COMING OUT OF A SMALL RIGHT TURN THE TIRE MUST HAVE LOST AIR JERKED THE STEERING CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ROLL OVER END OVER END CARTWHEELING AND LANDING IN 4 SPOTS ACCORDING TO TIRE MARKS ON THE ROAD ITSELF EACH DOUBLE LINED MARK WAS ON THE CENTER LINE OF THE ROAD ABOUT 70-80 FEET APART BEFORE HITTING THE POLE AND BOUNCING THE VEHICLE INTO THE OPPOSITE LANE FACING THE OTHER DIRECTION. WHERE UPON AIDE OF OTHERS IT COULD NOT BE RESTARTED AND THE DRIVERS SIDE TIRE WAS COMPLETELY UNUSABLE. THE VEHICLE BROKE OUT 3 WINDOWS AND THE WINDSHIELD IS WASTED, CAN BE STARTED BUT GRINDS WHEN PUT IN GEAR, CAN NOT BE DRIVEN EVEN AFTER TIRE REPLACEMENT. *TR
DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG FAILURE TO DEPLOY-WAS INVOLVED IN A SINGLE CAR ACCIDENT ON NOV. 24, 2008...HIT BLACK ICE PATCH, ENDED UP IN A DEEP DITCH AND CREEK BED. WAS TRAVELING APPROX 35 TO 40 MPH. FRONT END OF CAR EXPERIENCED HEAVY DAMAGE. DRIVER WAS WEARING SEAT BELT. PASSENGER AIRBAG DID DEPLOY, NO PASSENGER PRESENT IN VEHICLE. DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE!!!! VEHICLE SUSTAINED $13,000 IN ESTIMATED REPAIRS. MILEAGE ON VEHICLE WAS 53,000. DUE TO EXTENSIVE REPAIR ESTIMATE, VEHICLE WAS DEEMED TOTALED. WE ARE SEEING SEVERAL OTHERS IN THIS WEBSITE AND OTHERS ON THE INTERNET WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED FRONT END AND REAR END CRASHES WITH THIS MODEL AND YEAR AUTO AND OBVIOUSLY NO ONE AT FORD IS BOTHERING TO PHONE PEOPLE BACK, NOR INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM OR DO A RECALL. HOW MANY LIVES WILL BE TAKEN BEFORE ANYONE DOES ANYTHING?? LUCKILY I WAS NOT INJURED IN THE CRASH OTHER THAN A SORE NECK FROM THE SEATBELT LASHING. WE PAY FOR THESE "SAFETY" ITEMS ON OUR VEHICLES BUT WHAT GOOD ARE THEY WHEN THEY DO NOT WORK????????? IT'S INSANE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD EXPEDITION. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKE PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOOR. ON NOVEMBER 6, 2006, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO ENGAGE THE BRAKES AND CRASHED INTO A VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED AND THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THERE WERE NO PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME. THE MOST RECENT FAILURE OCCURRED ON JUNE 1, 2007. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND MOST OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM WAS REPLACED. A MONTH LATER THE ANOTHER CRASH OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING 25MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO ENGAGE THE BRAKE PEDAL. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE TOTAL COST OF REPAIRS WERE $2,300. THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH AN ELECTRONIC STABILITY THAT TAKES OVER AND IT LEAVES THE CONTACT WITH NO CONTROL OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM. THE DEALER STATED THAT HE WAS ALSO UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE RECENT FAILURE AND THERE WERE NO INDICATIONS FROM THE COMPUTER CODES. THERE WERE A TOTAL OF 4 VEHICLES INVOLVED IN THE CRASH AND 3 OF THEM WERE DAMAGED INCLUDING THE CONTACTS VEHICLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 19,783 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000.
I LOST CONTROL OF THE 2006 FORD EXPEDITION ON ICY ROADS AND WENT INTO DITCH AND HIT ENBANKMENT HEAD ON. MY PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED, BY THE DRIVER SIDE DID NOT. I WAS WEARING A SEATBELT. BECAUSE THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY, I HIT THE STEERING WHEEL WITH MY CHEST AND PART OF MY STOMACH. THIS WAS A CONCERN BECAUSE I AM 19 WEEKS PREGNANT.*AK
BRAKES FAILED IN PANIC SITUATION ON DRY ROAD. BRAKES GRABBED AND THEN COMPLETELY LET GO WHEN ANTILOCK SYSTEM TOOK OVER. THERE WAS NO SURGE IN THE PEDAL AS IT WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR. MY ROAD SPEED WAS 35 MPH WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES AND I WOULD SAY THEIR WAS AT LEAST 100FT BETWEEN MINE AND THE STOPPED VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I THOUGHT OF SWERVING TO MISS IT BUT WAS SURE I WOULD AT LEAST SLOW ENOUGH TO ONLY BUMP THE VEC. IN FRONT OF ME. THE GUY I HIT SAID HE HEARD A CHIRP AND A COUPLE SECONDS LATER GOT HIT. THERE WHERE NO SKID MARKS THAT I KNOW OF. THEIR WAS 21000 DOLLARS DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF MY 2006 EXPIDITION. *NM
While driving yesterday i heard a pop. The 4th coil pack literally blew out from its spot. I have now had 3 coil packs blow out at random causing the holes that the bolt straps the coil pack to the spark plug to strip out. I have a transmission leak that will not stop and I've taken it in multiple times for repairs and it still is leaking. Since getting this vehicle i noticed at the electrical issue where everything including my headlights will shut off and then pop back on while I'm driving. My seat belt will not open so i can buckle and I'm now getting frustrated because I've spent a lot of money on this only to realize has had the same issue with previous owners and they for some reason were too embarrassed to report it but I'm not and I'm sick of dumping money into this damb thing!
MY BEST FRIEND FATHER AND GRANDMOTHER DIED INSIDE AN SUV ACCIDENT THAT EMERGED INTO A SWIMMING POOL. WINDOWS WERE CLOSED. THERE WAS NO WAY OUT OF THE SUV DUE TO POWER WINDOWS. THEY SAT THERE WAITING FOR DEATH. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE TO ALL VEHICLES WHO ARE BUILT WITH POWER WINDOWS. THE SAME WAY THAT MOST MODERN VEHICLES NOW HAVE A WAY OF ESCAPING FROM THE TRUNK OF A CAR WHY ISN'T THERE SOMETHING WHERE THERE IS A WAY OF ESCAPING FROM A CAR WINDOW IF THE CAR GOES INTO A POOL OF DEEP WATER ABOVE 5 FEET. THESE AUTOMOBILE COMPANIES NEED TO CREATE AN EMERGENCY MECHANISM IN ALL POWER WINDOWS IN CASE OF THE CAR GOING INTO A LAKE, RIVER, POOL, ETC. ALL WINDOWS FRONT AND BACK WINDOWS SHOULD HAVE A MANUAL ROLL DOWN KNOB OR WHATEVER IT IS CALLED FOR SUCH ACCIDENTS. I'M PRETTY SURE THAT IF MY FRIENDS FATHER HAD SOME KIND OF TOOL TO BREAK THE WINDOWS HE WOULD OF BUT WHO IS TO SAY THAT THE RUSHING WATERS WOULD HAVE STILL KILLED THEM. THEY WERE SENIOR CITIZENS THAT DIED SO TRAGICALLY AND THEY ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE. I'M NOT SURE IF THIS IS THE RIGHT DEPARTMENT FOR SUCH A COMPLAINT, BUT IF THIS IS THE WRONG DEPARTMENT CAN SOMEONE PLEASE DIRECT ME TO THE PROPER CHANNELS. THIS INCIDENT IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION BUT IT IS NOT KNOWN HOW THEY ENDED UP INSIDE A SWIMMING POOL. IF SUCH MECHANISM IS INVENTED, IT SHOULD NOT BE AN OPTIONAL IT SHOULD BE MANDATORY JUST LIKE SEATBELTS AND AIRBAGS AND SHOULD NOT BE COSTLY TO THE CONSUMER DUE TO THAT IT IS A LIFE SAVING TO HUMANS AND ANIMALS FOR THAT FACT. RECENTLY, THE CONTACT BEGAN TO DRIVE IN REVERSE OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE POLICE WERE NOTIFIED BUT A REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES ASSOCIATED WITH THE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER NOR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 49,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 69,000. *TR

FORD EXPEDITION WAS DRIVING SOUTHBOUND ON A FOUR LANE DIVIDED STREET ABOUT 30-35 MPH WHEN A MINIVAN TRAVELING NORTHBOUND BLINDLY TRIED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN INTO A SHOPPING PLAZA AND TURNED RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. AN RV WAS SITTING IN THE CENTER MEDIAN BLOCKING HER VIEW. I HIT HER PASSENGER REAR SIDE HEAD ON. I HAD 3 CHILDREN IN THE CAR. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. WHY THE HECK DO I EVEN HAVE THEM IF THEY AREN'T GOING TO WORK WHEN NEEDED? I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOYING. I DON'T FEEL SAFE IN MY EXPEDITION AND I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT AGAIN. WAS INVOLVED IN A (3) THREE VEHICLE ACCIDENT IN JANUARY 2011 ON STATE ROUTE 28 ON BLACK ICE CONDITIONS. VEHICLE #1 HIT BLACK ICE AND LOST CONTROL STRIKING MY 2006 FORD EXPEDITION SEVERAL TIMES AND THEN MY EXPEDITION WAS REAR-ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE DURING THE COLLISION. I DID HAVE MY SEAT BELT ON AND LUCKILY WAS NOT SEVERELY INJURED. NEITHER OF MY FRONT AIR-BAGS DEPLOYED AND MY EXPEDITION SUFFERED $14,000 DOLLARS IN FRONT END DAMAGE ALONE. THE AIRBAG SENSOR WAS DAMAGED AND SHOULD OF DEPLOYED THE AIR-BAGS BUT DID NOT. MY VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT REPAIR SHOP AND STATE POLICE WERE BOTH SURPRISED AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. NOW I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE AIRBAG SENSOR AS IT LIGHTS UP ALL THE TIME AND NO PROBLEMS CAN BE FOUND WHEN DIAGNOSED. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AND NEED TO BE ADDRESSED. I STILL OWN MY EXPEDITION AND WORRY FOR SAFETY IF ANOTHER COLLISION OCCURS WILL THE AIR-BAGS DEPLOY TO SAVE A LIFE. *TR
THE DEALERSHIP HAD JUST FINISHED REMOVING AN EXTRA ALARM THEY HAD INSTALLED ON THE 2006 FORD EXPEDITION. I WAS SITTING IN THE FRONT SEAT AND WAS EXCITED ABOUT GETTING A NEW TRUCK, AND ENDED UP SHIFTING IT OUT OF GEAR WITHOUT MY FOOT BEING ON THE BRAKE. I TOLD OUR SALES PERSON AND THEY WANTED TO FIX IT BEFORE WE TOOK DELIVERY OF THE TRUCK. THE NEXT DAY THEY CALLED AND TOLD US IT WAS READY. THEY HAD REPLACED THE SHIFT ACTUATOR. WE CHECKED IT AND IT SEEMED TO WORK FINE. A YEAR LATER, MY KIDS WERE GETTING IN THE CAR, I WENT BACK INTO THE HOUSE TO GET SOMETHING I FORGOT, AND MY 2 YEAR OLD CLIMBED IN O THE FRONT SEAT AND WAS PLAYING AND PULLED THE TRUCK OUT OF GEAR WITHOUT HER FOOT BEING ON THE BRAKE AND NO KEYS IN THE IGNITION. THE TRUCK ROLLED OUT OF DRIVEWAY ACROSS THE STREET AND DOWN MY NEIGHBOR'S YARD AND HIT A TREE. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS HURT. MY 10 YEAR OLD WAS IN THE BACK SEAT AND MY 7 YEAR OLD WAS STANDING NEXT TO THE TRUCK. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT? WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. NEITHER FORD NOR DEALERSHIP FELT THAT THEY SHOULD PAY FOR THE $1,343.18 WORTH OF DAMAGES TO OUR VEHICLE.*AK
