I exited the freeway and pulled straight in to a gas station, as I was coming to a stop I felt a powerful thud in my chest, heard an explosion or gun shot sound, and lost my vision for a split second. As it returned I fully expected to see my airbag had deployed in my chest, however my steering wheel was in tact. My entire chest felt like I had been punched. I looked into the mirror and noticed my collar bone was already red, as well as my right lower quadrant. I sat there and began to cry as I had no idea what had happened. I began to notice the smell of an explosion like fireworks. I asked my passenger if she saw what happened as she sat there looking at me terrified. Her response was 'no but I heard it, did we just crash?' My next thought was I had a seatbelt airbag deploy. I examined my belt and there was no airbag in it. At this time I noticed the belt was fully extended and would not retract back into the slot. I got out of the vehicle to do a walk around to make sure I had not triggered an airbag sensor. There was no damage. Now I was terrified because I had no clue what happened and my chest hurt so bad. I began to do research online and found out I had a recall on my seatbelt. I concluded it was in fact my seatlbelt when the red spots on my left collar bone turned into 1in x 0.5in abrasions the following morning. 18 hours later my right eye ball began to feel bruised. By 24 hours I began to have a headache and nausea. I was seen in the ER and had to have a CT scan of my head, neck, and chest. Although my scan came back clear I was diagnosed with contusions to my chest, a closed head injury, and a subcongunctival hemorrhage. By 36 hours my sclera was swollen and there was little to no visible white. At this point I was seen by opthalmology. He said the hemorrhage was very large and caused by such a sudden increase in intracranial pressure. The prognosis was good, treatment was steroid eye drops and rest. I now have alot of anxiety that it may happen again

Crash

I purchased a 2019 Ford Expedition Max from Rivertown Ford – Group 1 Automotive (Columbus, GA) in 2022. During the test drive, I heard a rattling noise at startup and was told by my salesperson, Derrick, that it was just a “cold start.” I was shown a CarFax report claiming no recalls or major repairs. I later discovered this was false. An internal Ford OASIS report revealed that transmission work had been performed before sale, which Rivertown Ford never disclosed or reported to CarFax. Since purchase, my Expedition has had harsh shifting, delayed gear engagement, jerking, and sudden loss of acceleration, often without diagnostic codes—making it difficult to obtain warranty repairs under my Ford ESP plan. Rivertown Ford told me the transmission backlog meant I’d have to pay for my own rental vehicle and wait indefinitely for a technician. In March 2024, the vehicle shifted into neutral instead of drive while backing out of a driveway, rolling down uncontrollably and hitting two trees. Neither USAA (my insurer) nor Ford acknowledged that this incident matched the 10R80 transmission defect and TSB 23-2249 (Nov 2023), which addresses uncommanded neutral engagement and loss of power. I was never notified of this defect. My insurance labeled it an “at-fault” accident, raising my premiums drastically. My Expedition is now being serviced for TSB 23-2249 after new video evidence and stored code P07E06-00 confirmed the defect. Ford’s OASIS system—which hides warranty and powertrain repairs from the public—enabled this concealment. This issue has caused financial loss, emotional distress, and fear of driving, especially as this is our only family vehicle for transporting our children. I have video, audio, photos, and documentation proving these events and request NHTSA’s investigation into Ford’s 10R80 transmission defects and disclosure practices.

July 17th on highway going near highway speed of 65-70mph in congested heavier traffic, person merging from on ramp caused abrupt slow to stop and rear ended a F250 truck causing MAJOR front end damage, couldn’t get front doors open, frame bent, vehicle totalled with $22k or more in damages. Seatbelt locked and air bags NEVER deployed. Ford dealership and insurance company very very suprised that given impact, speed, etc airbags never went off. Also emergency braking system did give collision detection warning and then seemed to entirely take over braking as I attempted to brake very hard nothing seemed to be happening for brakes. Seemed crash could have been entirely avoided. Vehicle totalled and gone to salvage yard. Thank goodness no injury very badly bruised

She also stated that in the morning, the car would not stop as she was backing into her parking spot in the parking garage at work. Significant front end damage to my wife's vehicle causing almost $13k in damages including a bent frame. She was not going fast as she was approaching a major street from a side street.

CAUGHT FIRE AFTER USING FACTORY INSTALLED REMOTE STARTER. A FEW DAYS PRIOR TO THE FIRE, THE CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING, AFTER THE CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING, WE RECEIVED TWO WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH DISPLAY, SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC AND HILL DECENT CONTROL FAULT. I TOOK PHOTOS OF THE DASH WARNING AND ATTEMPTED TO SCHEDULE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALERSHIP, HOWEVER THE FIRE OCCURRED BEFORE WE COULD GET IT SERVICED. FORD SENT THEIR FIRE INVESTIGATORS TO INSPECT VEHICLE, BUT WE NEVER RECEIVED ANY EXPLANATION FOR THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE OR A COPY OF THEIR FINDINGS. THE FIRE NOT ONLY DESTROYED THE EXPEDITION, BUT ALSO CAUGHT OUR ATTACHED GARAGE ON FIRE, WHICH CAUSED US TO ALSO LOOSE ANOTHER VEHICLE ALONG WITH THE MAJORITY OF OUR HOUSE HOLD CONTENTS. THIS FIRE OCCURRED ON AN EARLY MORNING WHILE MOST OF OUR FAMILY WAS SLEEPING. WE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED! IN ADDITION TO THE PHOTOS ATTACHED, I ALSO TOOK A BRIEF VIDEO OF THE FIRE AS THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ARRIVING ON SCENE.

I was sitting in the passenger seat unbuckling the seatbelt. A loud noise went off behind me right almost like a gun shot. The seat shot from my hand and tore the leather in the car near the wind. The seatbelt also started smoking and left a smoke residue on the car. The seatbelt in locked in position and cannot be used any more. My right thumb was hit and at this time is in excruciating pain. I cannot make a fist. I’m headed to the doctor for more specifics.
