WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED TO 90 MPH. THE CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE BRAKES TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN. CONSEQUENTLY, THE CONSUMER REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE POLICE INDICATED TO THE CONSUMER NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND WAS TOWED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *JB AT THE TIME OF IMPACT THE ENGINE STALLED, THE POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES WENT OUT. THE CONSUMER WOULD LIKE FORD TO PAY FOR THE EXPENSES. *TC *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2004 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL VEERED TO THE RIGHT AND VIBRATED VIOLENTLY. THE CONTACT HAD TO RELEASE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND CRASHED INTO A DITCH. THE VEHICLE FLIPPED OVER TWICE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED SECOND DEGREE BURNS FROM THE SEAT BELT, WHIPLASH, AND BURNS TO THE RIGHT ARM FROM THE AIR BAGS. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE REAR DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER SUSTAINED WHIPLASH AND STOMACH BRUISES FROM THE SEAT BELT, WHICH ALSO REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING AT 27 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO THE ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED NECK AND BACK INJURIES AND THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED A BRUISE KNEE, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
WHILE DRIVING ON A PARKWAY IN THE RIGHT LANE A CAR IN THE LEFT LANE OF THE TWO LANE PARKWAY HIT THE VEHICLE ON THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE NEAR THE BACK WHEEL. THE CAR THEN WAS DRIVEN INTO A ROCK CUT AND THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS CRASHED IN. ALTHOUGH THE FRONT END IMPACT WAS SUBSTANTIAL, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY WHICH RESULTED IN SEVERAL SERIOUS INJURIES TO THE DRIVER. THE POLICE REPORT AND PICTURES OF THE VEHICLE ARE AVAILABLE AS WELL AS CORRESPONDENCE WITH FORD ON THIS ACCIDENT. *JS

THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A FRACTURED STERNUM AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM THE SCENE AND HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE AIR BAG FAILURE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD-ON COLLISION BUT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. FOUR PEOPLE SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES (BURN RASHES, ETC). THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 79,000.
FRONT END COLLISION, AIR BAG PUT OUT POWDER AND LIGHT INDICATES DEPLOYMENT, HOWEVER NO DEPLOYMENT OF AIRBAG OCCURRED. MY DAUGHTER WAS INJURED AND THE STATE TROOPER STATED THAT THE AIR BAG SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. THIS APPEARS TO BE AN OBVIOUS DEFECT AND IT WAS NOTED THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS ON NHTSA WEBSITE. VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT DEALER FOR CRASH REPAIR I HAVE YET TO HEAR THEIR DETERMINATION REGARDING THE AIR BAG NON-DEPLOYMENT. ADDITIONALLY, THE BRAKES ON THE VEHICLE FADED AND FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE, THIS IS THE SECOND BRAKE FADE PROBLEM I HAVE HAD WITH THIS VEHICLE. IT HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER ONCE FOR THE PROBLEM AND THEY FOUND AIR IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM. *NM
I HAD A HEAD-ON COLLISION WITH A CAR THAT SHOT OUT OF A SIDE STREET DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME. THE FRONT OF MY CAR HIT THE SIDE OF HIS VAN. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. MY RIGHT KNEE CAP WAS FRACTURED. THIS WAS A RENTAL CAR FROM ENTERPRISE. *NM
ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO, MY DAUGHTER WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING HER FORD FOCUS. SHE SMASHED THE CAR INTO A CEMENT BARRIER, SPUN AROUND AND SMASHED THE BACK OF THE CAR INTO THE BARRIER AND THEN SPUN AROUND AGAIN AND SMASHED THE FRONT INTO THE BARRIER AGAIN. THE CAR IS CONSIDERED TOTALED BY THE INSURER. THIS FORD FOCUS IS EQUIPPED WITH AIR BAGS. THESE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. FORTUNATELY, MY DAUGHTER AND HER PASSENGER WERE NOT SERIOUSLY HURT. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE AIR BAGS NOT WORKING. *NM
VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY, WEATHER WAS CLEAR, ROAD WAS DRY. STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO VIBRATE, VEHICLE SUDDENLY VEERED TO RIGHT AND OUT OF CONTROL. VEHICLE STRUCK GUARD RAIL HEAD ON, UPON IMPACT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. MY WIFE WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED WHEN HER HEAD STRUCK THE WINDSHIELD. SHE RECEIVED CUTS TO HER FOREHEAD, MULTIPLE CONTUSIONS AND A FRACTURED ANKLE THAT WILL REQUIRE SURGERY TO REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A CRASH INVESTIGATOR AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT A DEFECTIVE TIE ROD WAS THE LIKELY CAUSE OF THE LOSS OF CONTROL AND THERE WAS SUFFICIENT FORCE TO DEPLOY AIR BAGS. *NM
BRAKES FAILED ON OUR 2004 FORD FOCUS ZX5 4 DOOR HATCHBACK AS MY WIFE WENT TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN LEAVING OUR DEVELOPMENT AND WAS BROADSIDED BY A TRUCK. THIS RESULTED IN A TOTAL LOSS OF VEHICLE AND INJURIES SUSTAINED TO MY WIFE. POLICE AND MEDICAL PERSONNEL WERE ON THE SCENE. SHE WAS TRANSPORTED TO HOSPITAL.
DRIVER PLACED THE KEY INSIDE OF THE IGNITION SWITCH AND THE KEY FAILED TO COME OUT OF IGNITION. DRIVER CONTACTED THE DEALER FOR AN APPOINTMENT. *AK
MASSIVE HEAD ON COLLISION OF A 2004 FORD FOCUS FAILED TO DEPLOY THE AIRBAGS. *JB
WHILE AS A SOLE DRIVER AND OCCUPANT OF A 2005 FORD FOCUS, I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND REAR-ENDED BY A FOUR DOOR 1995 DODGE INTREPID AT A SPEED OF APPROXIMATLEY 50 MILES PER HOUR. MY DRIVER'S SEAT COLLASPED IN THE COLLISION WHICH JERKED MY NECK AND BACK INTO THE REAR SEAT. AS A RESULT MY THORASIC SPINE, CERVICAL SIPNE WAS SO INJREUD AS TO CAUSE MY NECK AND BACK INCLUDING MY BOTH ARMS TO SUFFER A DEGREE OF PARALYSIS, AND INJURY TO THE UPPER SPINAL CORD. *AK
MY HUSBANDAND I AND TWO OTHER RIENDS WERE DRIVING ABOUT 45 MPH AND T-BONED A SMALL CAR BECAUSE THEY FAILED TO STOP. EVERYONE SUSTAINED VERY BAD SEAT BELT INJURIES. I WAS A FRONT SEAT PASSENGER AND I HIT THE WINDSHIELD WITH MY FACE BUT DID NOT SUSTAIN BAD INJURIES FROM IT AND THE WIELDSHIELD DIDNT BREAK. THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED!!!! I WOULD'NT HAVE HIT THE WINDSHIELD IF THEY DID. THE ONLY SELLING POINT OF WHICH I BOUGHT THE SMALL CAR FOR MY THREE CHILDREN AND I. I AM AFRAID TO GET BEHIND THE WHEEL AGAIN.*AK
WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN A PEDESTRIAN WAS WALKING IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. TO AVOID HITTING THE PEDESTRIAN VEHICLE LOST CONTROL AND WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 72 MPH CONSUMER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND COLLIDED WITH A DEER. BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. DRIVER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION.*AK
MY HIGH BEAM IS ALWAYS ON. MY LOW BEAM AND FOG LIGHT DO NOT WORK. THE LOW BEAM AND FOG LIGHT ARE INDEPENDENT SWITCH. *JB
I was coming home one night, in my 2004 Ford focus, when another driver comes speeding up behind me. He then proceeds to pass me during a corner, cutting me off. I hit the brakes and lost control. Ended up rolling my vehicle with my 8 month old daughter and i. Back window exploded, and not a single air bags had deployed when I got into my accident.
IN JANUARY, I WAS INVOLVED IN A TRAFFIC CRASH. I APPLIED THE BREAKS TO MY VEHICLE (GIVING PLENTY OF TIME TO COME TO A STOP AND ONLY TRAVELING 20 MPH ) BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. AS A RESULT, I HIT A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. IT WAS AS IF THE BREAKS WERE NOT WORKING CORRECTLY.
