I was recently in an accident where at a speed of approximately 50 mph I rear ended someone who was stopped on the highway. At this time my airbags did not deploy, which I believe to be a manufacturing failure. I hit my head on the steering wheel and since the accident have been experiencing major neck and back pain, for which I am seeing a chiropractor. I believe that I should be granted compensation for the physical, emotional, and financial burdens that this total loss accident has put me under.

SHORTLY AFTER I BOUGHT THIS CAR. I NOTICED ORIGINALLY LAST OF POWER DURING ACCELERATION AND LATER IT WOULD DO A COMBINATION OF LAST OF POWER AT TIMES AND LUNGING WHEN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WOULD SHIFT GEARS(AUTOMATICALLY). EVENTUALLY, FRONTIER FORD(DEALERSHIP) REPLACED THE CLUTCH N A FEW OTHER MINOR ITEMS RELATED TO THE CLUTCH. THE PROBLEMS THE SAME ISSUES CONTINUE TO OCCUR. I FINALLY FILED A COMPLAIN WITH THE BBB, IT APPEARS THE DEALERSHIP SIMPLY NEVER RETURNED THEIR CALLS OR EMAILS AND THAT CASE WAS CLOSED. NEXT I CONTACTED THE SJ BUREAU OF AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR. THEIR DETERMINATION WAS THAT FORD FIESTAS AND FOCUS MODELS WERE NOTORIOUS FOR SERIOUS TRASMITION PROBLEMS. IT IMPLIED THAT IT WAS A FEATURE NOT A BUG BECAUSE EVENTHOUGH THE SJ BAR KNEW OF THESE SERIOUS ISSUES THEY TOOK NO ACTION. I STARTED NOT DRIVING THE CAR AS MUCH LOOKING INTO HOW I COULD GET THE MANUFACTURER TO BUY BACK THIS UNRELIABLE DANGEROUS CAR. I AM EN EXPERIENCED DRIVER SO I AVOIDED ACCIDENTS WHEN THE CAR WOULD MALFUNCTION, HOWEVER THE NIGH OF 11/06/19 AT ABOUT MIDNIGHT MY DAUGHTER TOOK THE CAR WITHOUT PERMITION AND WHEN THE CAR LUNGED FOWARD (AS IT WOULD DO WHILE SHIFTING GEARS AUTOMATICALLY) DURING A STREET TURN, SHE LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR AND CRASHED INTO 2 PARKED CARS. THE AIRBAGS DIDNT DEPLOY AND THE SEATBEALT DIDNT LOCK RESULTING IN HER GETTING A CONCUSION AND A PRETTY BLOODY MOUTH AS HER HEAD HIT THE STEERING WHEEL(THESE 2 DEFECTS WERE UNKNOWN TO ME PREVIOUSLY). HAVING TO DO MONTHLY PAYMENTS ON THIS UNSAFE, UNRELIABLE CAR HAD LOTS OF NEGATIVE RIPPLE EFFECTS IN MY FAMILY'S LIFE CULMINATING IN MY DAUGHTER BEING INJURED BY WELL KNOWN DEFECTS BY FORD. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THERE IS EVEN CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS FOR FIESTA AND FOCUS CARS BUT I TRUELY DONT KNOW HOW ANY OF THAT WORKS. MY HOPE HERE IS THAT AT A MINIMUM THESE COMPLAINS CAN HELP GET THESE DANGEROUS CARS OFF THE ROAD.

WHILE TRAVELLING AROUND 20 TO 25 MPH IN THE LEFT HAND LANE OR A TWO LANE CITY STREET, THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN. I HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO STOP, HOWEVER, WHEN I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, THERE WAS NO RESISTANCE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT DOWN TO THE FLOOR. I QUICKLY RELEASED AND DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AGAIN WITH THE SAME RESULT. I TRIED TO AVOID THE VEHICLE BY TURNING TO MY RIGHT, BUT I WAS TOO CLOSE AND HIT THE RIGHT BACK BUMPER OF THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME, CAUSING EXTREME DAMAGE TO THE FRONT LEFT SIDE OF MY CAR. THE INSURANCE COMPANY TOTALLED THE CAR.

I acquired the Ford Focus 2017 from Envision Toyota in Milpitas, California, in November 2022. In August 2023, the vehicle experienced an engine failure at 53,000 miles. Subsequently, the car was at the Ford dealership for an extended period until the engine replacement was completed by the end of October 2023. Upon retrieving the car on [XXX], 2023, I encountered various issues, including coolant leakage, problems with coolant pressure, braking issues (resulting in extensive vibrations), and the engine stalling in traffic. While the coolant problem was eventually resolved after four additional visits to the dealership, involving adjustments to pressure, replacement of thermostats, sensors, and the cooling reservoir, the persistent issues with the engine stalling and braking were not addressed, even after multiple extended visits to the dealership. Despite having the car for several weeks during each visit, the problems persisted. We retrieved the car before Christmas and reported the ongoing issues to the dealership, but due to international travel plans, I was unable to return the car for further inspection. We have returned from our travels on [XXX] 2024. On [XXX], 2024, my son was driving to the gym with friends when, while in a central left turn lane to enter the gym, the engine failed again. Unfortunately, another vehicle approaching from the right side collided with him, while he was stationary, resulting in the total loss of the car. In November 2023, I initiated a case with Ford, requesting them to repurchase the vehicle due to numerous safety concerns, and the case number is [XXX]. Despite reporting issues to both Ford and the dealership (which was able to reproduce them), resolution has been delayed, and Ford seems to be procrastinating in addressing the situation. It is crucial to note that the Ford Focus SE 2017 model appears to have inherent issues with gaskets, and it appears that Ford may be concealing these concerns. I was moving my car in a gas station parking lot and went to stop the car to go in reverse and the breaks went to the floor and I pushed them about five times and still no breaks. I hit a concrete column and air bags didn't deploy and the airbag lights were blinking on and off and speedometer needle was going crazy. Officer went to assist with moving the car to a curbside and in neutral the car was trying to go forward then when it was put in park it continued to try to go forward. We were not on a hill, it was flat in the parking lot. If this would have happened on the main roads my son, nephew and myself could have been hurt and if I had hit someone else they could have been hurt as well. I know have a adjusting checking the vehicle and a mechanics shop as well. Before this happened I had absolutely no warning.

Crash

Car was at highway speed and was given light input to change lanes. With light input, the engine accelerated in an uncontrolled manner, revving to maybe 5000 rpm. The driver had to slam on the brakes to counteract. Result was a rear-end collision with the car in front (Route 95 near Laurel, MD). For what it is worth, the car also gave an "overheating" alarm for the Powershift DCT transmission even though no such alarm had ever appeared previously. So first time alarm on the transmission and the following day this incident with the unintended acceleration. These could be unrelated, but could also be related. With the overheating transmission issue, the car was left sit for 10 minutes and then drove normally. Car also drove normally after the accident. No further abnormal acceleration issues.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT TRIED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND IT STALLED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS PUSHED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE STREET. THE VEHICLE WAS PUT IN NEUTRAL AND PUSHED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME CLOSELY. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY ARRANGED A TOW TO THE DEALER (UPTOWN FORD LINCOLN 2111 N MAYFAIR RD, MILWAUKEE, WI 53226 (414) 771-9000) BUT THEY REFUSED TO DO THE REPAIR THAT HAD TO DO WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V515000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAD A MINOR CRASH SIX MONTHS EARLIER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CRASH WAS THE CONTACT'S FAULT AND THE REASON THE COMPUTER SOFTWARE MALFUNCTIONED. THE MANUFACTURER CALLED BACK TO DENY THE CONTACT'S CLAIM. THE MANUFACTURER RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO ANOTHER DEALER WHO STATED SAME AS THE FIRST DEALER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. THE UPPER MANAGEMENT OF THE SECOND DEALER DENIED TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER FINALLY SENT AN EMAIL DENYING THE CONTACT'S CLAIM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.

BESIDE THE TWO SAFETY RECALLS 18V-735 AND 19V-515 THERE IS ANOTHER ISSUE WITH THE CAR WHICH WHEN IT RAINS ALL THE RAIN WATER PENETRATES THE BACK DOOR OF THE CAR AND IT STAYS THERE FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME DUE TO THE POOR DESIGN OF FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND ITS NEGLIGEANCE AND FRAUD. I BELIEVE THIS ISSUE MIGHT BE A SAFETY RISK AND IT SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. AFTER THE RECALLS AND THE POOR REPAIRS THE CAR STILL UNSAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSIONS PROBLEM IS IRREPARABLE WHICH MEANS THIS CAR WILL NEVER BE SAFE TO DRIVE AND EVERYDAY I DRIVE IT TO WORK WHENEVER I STOP IN A HILL AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR STOP SIGN I HEAR NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION AND IF IT HAPPENED THAT I STOPPED SUDDENLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HILL DUE TO TRAFFIC THE CAR LOSSES ITS POWER AND BARELY MOVES FORWARD ( LOSS OF POWER DUE TO FAULTY TRANSMISSION)THIS ISSUE CAUSED ME AN ACCIDENT EARLY THIS YEAR WHEN THE CAR LOST POWER UP HILL IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD . THE CONCLUSION IS MY CAR AND ALL 2017 FORD FOCUS ARE NOT SAFE TO DRIVE . I BELIEVE THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THE DEALER WHO SOLD ME THIS GARBAGE CAR DECEIVED ALL OF US AND COMMITTED A BIG FRAUD . I THINK IT IS TIME FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO OPEN AN INVESTIGATION AND FORCE THEM BY LAW TO BUY THEIR GARBAGE CARS BACK . UNTIL THIS MOMENT I STILL BELIEVE THAT THERE IS NO ONE ABOVE THE LAW. THANK YOU FOR READING MY COMPLAINT .
